Alex also turned his attention to the girl behind the boy and smiled, "Rachel?" It was a delightful surprise for Alex.
Rachel walked up beside the boy and looked at Alex with tears in her eyes. She walked up to him and spoke, "Where were you? You can't just disappear into thin air. We were all worried." She spoke in a broken voice.
Alex smiled and spoke, "I apologize, It was out of my control. But I'm all right and even stronger than before! So you don't need to worry." Alex then turned towards the boy and smiled, "Let's leave that, I really can't explain anything. It's just I disappeared without my own knowledge and was able to train while I was gone. For now, I'm more curious about the boy and about you… Did something happen to you?" Alex spoke with a curious gaze.
He knew exactly what had happened, Hades had already explained to him that Rachel had powers now. But Alex wanted to hear it from Rachel herself.
Rachel nodded and smiled, "I awakened… The very next day that you disappeared, a huge gate opened that night. I guess I was among the ones affected and it gave me abilities. Surprisingly, the strength it gave me was pretty high as well, I'm ranked B right now." She seemed to be happy.
Rachel then turned to the boy and smiled, "He's only 7 years old. I heard what experiments would happen to these children so I wanted to adopt them myself. His name is Oliver and he is also an awakened. His abilities haven't fully developed yet so you really can't classify his strength yet. But looking at this match it does seem that he is now interested in you, Alex." Rachel smiled as she looked at Oliver staring down Alex with starry eyes.
Alex laughed awkwardly and nodded. He was surprised by Hearing Rachel's power surge. It was surprising for anyone to be so strong in a small amount of time. It would normally take people years to get to a higher level, that is if they could. Most of them would be stuck to the rank that they awakened in but some have the potential to grow. Most would reach the B or C rank at max but even rarer ones become stronger.
Rachel seemed to be one of them, looking at how fast she grew, It would only be time before she could reach Alex's Level. Alex looked at Rachel and spoke, "What powers do you actually have?" He was curious.
Rachel looked at Alex and answered, "Well, It's weapon casting… Just like one of your abilities. I can cast a weapon for myself. But compared to your weapon, Mine won't handle well…" Rachel spoke as a bow appeared in her hands.
Alex looked at the bow and nodded, "Bow's are pretty special, I'd say." He seemed to like them. 'Boy, Her ability is pretty special. If she is able to train them to the maximum potential, She will be a pretty formidable for you." Hades sounded interested in Rachel's bow.
Chapter 146: Hidden Abilities | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Alex looked slightly worried, he was happy for Rachel but he didn't know what his true potential was. In just a short span of time, Midnight was so much more powerful than Alex and Rachel, who didn't even have powers is now at B rank and Hades says that she has the potential to be a strong person.
'Hmm, Kid… Why are you so worried? Who said that she would stay an opponent to you? Hell, who said that she will reach her peak quick enough to catch up to you? From what I see here, except for that enigma of a person, Hana. Your potential for strength is a lot higher than you think. You have no idea of my origins yet, and you don't know the proper origin of strength and energy itself. All you know is that people are given it out of random. But for now, I will say, You'll reach a level where you could decide the fates of those S ranked awakened with just a thought.' Hades laughed.
Hearing Hades, Alex felt awe. He didn't know how he would reach it but He had belief in the system and in Hades. 'We really haven't thought through this entire power thing properly though… Well, At least the general public doesn't know that much. My previous world just took it as you were born with powers and the history of having abilities was over a hundred years old. While here, It's still comparatively new with only around 25 years of having powers… Which does put me to question, Hades… Were the abilities in my world from the same source as the ones here?' Alex asked.
However, before Alex got his answer, Rachel spoke, "Well, Alex. I need to go. I have something to do. I hope we can have a chat later on. I'm sure Oliver just found someone he wants to follow as well." She laughed as Over continued to stare at Alex.
Alex nodded and spoke, "I guess till next time." HE watched as Rachel walked out of the room.
Midnight looked over at Alex and smiled, "Well, I guess I gotta run as well. I'll call a cab. Ryan wants to meet you." She pointed over to her phone and laughed.
Hearing Midnight, Alex spoke, "I hoped we could get another round. I haven't been able to properly use my powers after coming back and want to know more about it." Alex knew that there were still many more abilities that he could try out.
Midnight also looked disappointed but she shrugged and spoke, "It's the awakened Life. Gates are at an all time high. This was my break time so we'll battle next time. For now, you're safe because you just returned but soon, you will have to work to the bone to take down these gates that just keep on coming. Higher ranked gates aren't increasing in number but the amount of lower ranked gates are very high so now, we'll also need to be involved in dealing with them. Luckily, looking at our powers, we are given the permission to take on them alone so It'll be fun battles." She smiled.
Alex nodded and walked to the door. Midnight walked out as well and looked over at Alex, "Well, bye for now." She smiled and walked into a room. Alex walked to the train and headed to the hotel.
'Kid, I'll answer your question now. They are related indeed. Every world out there is connected to the same place. The origin is something you will have to learn in the future. You'll have to deal with the reapers for now. Once you take down the leader of the Reapers, I'll share more information. Until then, you're not worthy for it. And for a scale of power, The leader reaper is a lot stronger than the ones who nearly killed you in the void. So, you'll have to be gaining strength by taking down the weaker ones.' Hades explained slowly.
' The system now works a tiny differently than before. However, the essence is almost the same. You kill enemies, you steal their strength and gain more power. Once you reach a certain power, It seems to reward you in gaining power. And it also seems to be allowing you more opportunities to gain power… You notice something weird about the gates that appear. Remember the past gates that you were involved in clearing… Just think about it and tell me if you remember something important.' Hades continued.
Alex thought back to when he fought the new types of reapers coming from the evolving gate. It seemed to be a wave system like in games. Alex thought, 'It was almost like the gate was the one which was summoned by me… It was more like a surviving wave from games and I remember wanting to try out my powers in battle and the gate appearing around that time… I thought it was a coincidence but when you put it that way, there might be a pattern.' He was trying to put things together.
Hades laughed, 'Haha! You're at least not a complete dumb lad. That's exactly true. The powers of the system are very mysterious and some things even I can't explain. My knowledge goes as far back as I lived… But this power is even older. It's as old as the universe itself. But I can tell you this, The system has the ability to call gates for you to use and gain strength. Trust in the system to gain more power. Once you have completed your meetings with those who called you earlier, I'd recommend you calling for gates to appear in a more remote area. That way, you'll have time to take it on and gain strength. The strength of reapers from the gates seems to vary but they also seem to be changeable so I'll do that. I won't go easy on you so get ready for a good hard battle once you want to take on a gate and get more powerful!'
Chapter 147: Bad Luck | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Alex was once again in a state of shock. 'So that means that I can just summon gates and get stronger that way… That seems almost weirdly powerful, the ability to summon gates where reapers come from.' He thought. It was true, that ability was extremely powerful if used correctly and could even terrorize countries if used with bad intent.
'That's where the catch comes from. The use of this ability seems to be limited to only appearing if you take care of the reapers. And no harm is done to the people who are affected by the reapers that come from the gate. That's why I told you to summon at a rural place. That way, we don't need to risk anyone from getting hurt. I don't know what the repercussion is if you let someone get hurt or break the rules but it can be almost anything looking at what this thing is capable of so it better to be safe than sorry.' Hades explained. Alex nodded when he heard Hades's explanation.

"Hana?" Ryan was sitting in his office chair. He seemed to be confused at the moment as he looked at Hana who was standing in front of the door. She looked at Ryan with a cold stare and spoke, "I suggest leaving the guy alone from any weird questions. I've already questioned him when I met him and There is no answer to your questions… I know you're going to ask him anyways but I think I need to at least prepare you for the lack of answers you will get. Once again, after six months, I will still attest to his character and say that he will be of no harm to us or the organization." She said with a slightly threatening tone.
Ryan took a deep breath and shrugged. He looked tired and overworked. "Hana, It's just my job to question someone who disappeared for so long into thin air and appear out of thin air once again. We even assumed he was dead but here we are. Don't worry, we won't harm him but I will need some form of an answer. Those higher ups are still on my damn back about what happened to the potential S rank in the country. It seemed like they had something planned for him once he was stronger but it was cut due to Alex's disappearance." He explained.
Hana nodded and walked out of the door, "I can't do anything to them unfortunately, I would have if I wasn't trapped by those bastards. But my situation is already this dire so I'll leave that to you. Just came here to told you that we can trust him, take my word for it." She spoke as she walked away.
Ryan sighed once again and picked up his phone, "I guess I'll need to call Master Zhun… He isn't in the best health right not but he's still healthy enough to live for long." He spoke as he dialed a number.
"Master Zhun… Hana just came and talked to me. She still attests to Alex's characters and told us not to be harsh on the questioning… I don't know what's going on and the work from the previous project has already been stressful, I don't know what to do right now. My focus is all over the place so I require some help in this. He will be here soon and I'm sure you're interested in hearing about what happened so, could you come by my office?" Ryan said in a tired tone.
He looked outside the window as he put down the phone and took a deep breath. "The military, A weird guy that appeared out of thin air through a gate, then disappeared and then appeared once again but in thin air, Those damn terrorists and this new serum that's going around criminals… What the hell do I focus on?" Ryan smiled as he looked at his stressed-out face reflected back on the window.
After some time, The doors to his office opened and an old man walked in. It was master Zhun but he didn't look as energetic as before. His eyes were sunken and his face seemed to have some more wrinkles. However, the sparks in his eyes weren't gone yet. He looked at Ryan and laughed, "Ryan, take a break every now and then. I never had to take care of jobs like this when I was in charge but I can feel the stress from you…" He also walked to the window and smiled.
As Ryan was about to reply, He saw a taxi park by the building and a man with long brown hair exit it.
Alex exited a taxi and looked at the huge building in front of him. He took a deep breath and walked into the building. 'It feels like only a few days have passed since I've come here but to think that it's more than six months… I wonder what Master Zhun and Ryan will say to me now that I'm back… I'm pretty sure that I'll be questioned about it thoroughly… I did just suddenly disappear without a word.' He smiled awkwardly as he walked to the reception.
However, as soon as Alex reached the reception, a loud bang came from behind him. Alex quickly turned back and saw that there was a gate that had appeared. A few reapers slowly walked out of the gate.
"Why… Why always the wrong time." Alex whined as he walked outside. He knew his job was to clear the gate and kill the reapers but he wanted to take a proper break until he talked to Ryan.
'Kid, This one wasn't me… It just seems like your luck isn't so good. You'll have to deal with this gate all on your own also, It seems. The two powerful ones have their eyes on your right now. Why not show off to them?' Hades seemed to be enjoying himself.
Alex rolled his eyes and put his hands on his guns. He was ready for another battle.
Chapter 148: Still the weak me. | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Alex sighed. It was true, His luck was rotten but once he got past the hardship caused by it, Some form of reward also waited. 'That's the rule of life, Once you go through bad, some form of the reward always awaits, be it small or huge. It doesn't mean that You'll get rewards to fulfill your wishes, Life can be unfair sometimes and you'll just get rotten timing and luck one after another but bearing with it is the thing that ultimately makes you stronger. So don't sigh, Let's face this together. You'll grow stronger after this and show off to those two who are staring with those creepy eyes.' Hades seemed to know exactly what Alex was thinking and spoke.
Alex nodded and ran towards the gate. He caught the attention of the reapers and smiled, " I guess combat with reapers isn't that bad anyway. I do need to know how much more power I have obtained to fight these things." He jumped onto a reaper and pulled out his gun, Blasting its head into smithereens.
Master Zhun played with his beard and smiled, "This is a scary kid… Disappeared for half a year and jumps another rank like nothing… Plus, he seems to have new toys as well. I wonder, how deep does his power go? How much more power is hidden inside of that body of his?" He watched Alex intently.
Ryan looked at Alex and nodded, "It is true but when things are unknown, It also calls for suspect… I can trust Alex's character now but in the future, too much power in such a short time can cause a man to think they are invincible… Thoughts like I can just get more powerful and no one can stop me from doing anything I want or With my powers, I'm unstoppable… They're cliche but the truth." Ryan seemed to be thinking of the negatives of Alex's power.
Master Zhun shook his head and smiled, "I've known Hana since she was a little child and I can say that she doesn't just attest to someone's character that easily. Hell, I think she's done it once before and was right at the end. So I'll trust Hana here and not worry too much about Alex. I'm rather excited, with the growth he has, we'll get to see something special happen soon…" He smiled.
Alex looked around the gate, blood on his face as he fired his gun to another reaper. 'Just 3 more.' Alex seemed to be having fun. He wasn't injured at all, the reapers were too weak for them to injure him.
Jumping towards the gate, Alex pressed the buttons at the side of his gun and retracted the blades. He smiled towards the long ranger reaper that was trying to avoid Alex and shoot him. He threw the gun straight towards the reaper's stomach and jumped towards it at the same time.
*Kewkh!*
The reaper cried as the gun had impaled it. Alex jumped on top of the reaper and slit its throat to instantly kill It. He then turned to the remaining two close ranged reapers who were already close to him.
However, Before Alex got to jump to them and finish them off himself, Alex felt the wind blow from behind him, distracting him. The next second, Alex saw two lights pass him and attack the reapers. He looked at the reapers and saw two arrow like substances penetrate the reaper's stomach. Alex didn't think too much and jumped forward and cut both the reapers's heads, Killing them for good.
He then quickly turned back to the source of the arrows and was surprised to see Rachel. She looked at Alex and smiled, "I apologize but I wanted to show off a bit as well." She giggled as her attention turned to the dozen dead reapers around Alex.
"I was surprised but happy as well. To think that you're so powerful now, It's amazing. Your powers as well, they seem to be very helpful in combat…" Alex smiled and he looked at Rachel's bow.
The two paused and looked over at the gate as it slowly disappeared into thin air. Alex then turned towards Rachel again and spoke, "You're going to the bureau?" He spoke he pointed to the building.
Rachel nodded and spoke, "I am, I assumed you as well." She said as she walked to the door. Alex nodded and walked to the door, looking back at the gate. "That was surprisingly easy. I thought that I would face off against some top tier reaper and it would take everything for me to kill it but they were some C ranked reapers…" He smiled.
Rachel nodded and laughed, "I think half a year ago, you have problems with dealing with those but look at you now. The blood on your clothes used to be yours but it's now the reapers…" Rachel looked at Alex again in surprise and continued, "Well, the blood was… What the… Did you change clothes?" She was confused.
Alex looked at his clothes in confusion as well but he could guess what had happened, He turned to Rachel and smiled, "It's technically my power… The suit is like an armor summoned from my ability so I can clean it after it gets soaked in blood. Convenient, right?"
"Ah wow, You've really changed from before… You answered so confidently as well where before you would have just zoned out for a bit… It's sad to look at myself right now compared to you." Rachel smiled as she walked into the building.
