Alex looked at Gold in just a loss of words. By now, Alex knew that he was taller than when he was in his own world. Alex was around 180 cm tall but Oj was still a head height taller than Alex. He also had some bulky muscles underneath that hoodie. He looked like a total brute.
Alex scratched his head and spoke, "Well, At least It seems like I'll have another teacher for close quarters combat." He smiled. Oj and Midnight looked confused by Alex's words. Both looked at each other and laughed in unison, "Alex, You're mistaken… It seems like Ryan's illusion was on you while the meeting was happening so you must have forgotten… Oj isn't a brawler or a close combat fighter… Well, he is good at that but He isn't specialized in that, He is our top Healer." Midnight explained.
Alex looked at Oj in surprise, 'Such a huge guy… To say that he's a healer… It's out of the things that you'd normally expect… Even the healers in the simulation looked weak physically…' Alex thought as he looked at the bulky man.
Oj smiled and spoke, "Well, try to remember back to that guy who got yelled at by the scary queen Hana to heal the mind controlled B rank awakened… His internals were all mushed up by Hana's simple punch and that wasn't even her strongest attack… That really shows you how powerful S ranks are, doesn't it?" He laughed as he remembered the moment.
Alex thought back and remembered that moment. He realized that there was a man who was yelled at by Hana to heal the mind controlled B rank that attacked her. He looked at Oj and smiled, "I'm sorry but It did seem like I can't remember you from that meeting. Hell, That meeting is still a blur for me until the end…" Alex scratched his head and spoke awkwardly. Oj Shook his head.
Midnight, who was leading the two into the break room spoke, "Don't worry about anything related to the meeting, You were in Ryan's Illusion like I stated before. Most of the things you probably remember are just blurs and random things… Maybe feeling sleepy but nothing else." Midnight shrugged. Oj nodded and continued to follow Midnight. The three walked into a room and took a seat beside a large table. Imani also walked into the room and sat Beside Oj. "I hope you all have introduced each other properly, especially Alex… Well, Midnight probably already knows my Brother but still, Midnight and Alex, This is my brother Oj." She smiled.
Midnight and Alex both looked shocked by Imani's words, Midnight spoke, "But you two don't look similar at all… I don't see the resemblance… Plus, I've read up on Oj's Background, It said that he had no siblings… What… I'm so confused right now." Midnight looked more shocked than Alex did.
Oj laughed and spoke, "The documents are correct, I have no direct sibling but Imani is my cousin… We were raised together so we just act like actual brothers and sisters…" He looked at Alex, "But we're not here for that, let's just get down to business." He smiled.
Midnight, nodded when she heard Oj's words. She seemed to understand and spoke, "Well, It seems like we need to manage times again.. It's almost time for our lunch so I'd say we might need to take turns on who teaches when…" She then turned to Alex and said with a sly smile, "But to think that you, Alex would have three Awakeneds around you, revolving around everything thing you do to personally help you get stronger… If you fail, won't that be a lot of pressure?" She teased.
Alex laughed awkwardly when he heard Midnight, He was surprised when he realized that there were three people who were helping him get stronger. He looked at Oj, who seemed to be intrigued by teaching Alex.
Oj looked at Imani, "I'll just need him for an hour or so, it's just to help him understand healing better, nothing else… Later on, on the days I am more free, I'll teach him more medical things, unrelated to his powers but for now… I just wanted to see this special guy who made Master Zhun and Ryan call me for Help… Until now, Only Hana was the one who had requested me to do something but now, this one guy made those two bosses request something in their names." He laughed.
A sudden beeping caused Oj to stop laughing. He looked alarmed and stood up, "well, it seems like today isn't the day… We have healers spread out around the country but with a small number, I need to take care of most of the jobs here in this area… So I have to run, It seems like another A ranked gate appeared and injured a few B ranked Awakeneds… You three also need to quickly finish this training camp… Having one more A ranked awakened and 2 more B rank awakeneds would be a huge help for everyone." Oj said as he ran out of the room.
Imani nodded and looked at Alex, "He was here to observe and just get his own view of you. He must have tried to hide around when you were training so that he could see the real you while you trained. It seems like you have got a favorable place for him until now so stay there. Oj is a kind guy but he had turned his healing into a combat skill as well… And I tell you it's brutal… So I'd recommend being in his good side, he might even train you his moves of Healing Combat."
Chapter 102: New Training | Hero System! Transported to Another World
"Healing Combat? What?! Those two words are like complete opposites how… What?" Alex looked very confused by what Imani had just said. He looked out to the hallways to see that Oj had already left the place. He then looked at Imani and Midnight who were laughing at Alex's reactions, "We're not laughing at you… It's just that I felt the same way when I first heard of it… Hell, I was one of the first few who He trained that move on and it's really bad. I won't spoil it for you though, I think this is something that only Oj can talk about. He is the master after all." Midnight smiled.
Imani wanted to say something but she nodded after hearing Alex, "That is true, the moves can only be talked about after the Master says that you're ready to learn them… So until then, Why don't you have some lunch and then rest a bit. Midnight's job for today is done so I guess you two can relax for now. I'll be going back to the monitoring room as I have some more things to do." Imani excused herself before walking out of the room.
Alex and Midnight nodded as they looked around the room. Midnight looked at a small window behind the two and spoke, "We have a chef here so why not get some good food and rest?" She stood up and walked over to the window. Alex followed her. The two ordered what they liked and had their lunch. Midnight looked at the ceiling and smiled, "Well, Today, you've learned the Front Kick, Practiced the slide kick, and also learned the roundhouse… There are more which I will teach you slowly but what's the hurry with learning everything at once? Just practice these when these training weekends, You'll need to be ready anytime… They are very useful for combat, especially when you throw that dagger away and it misses." Midnight explained.
Alex nodded, he knew why he was learning all of this but he also wanted to learn more even more quickly. 'I guess I will need to know everything that I can before entering the challenge… I'll also need to be able to finish the morning training… That also for two days just to be sure that I can do it consecutively.' Alex was determined.
Midnight walked to the door and spoke, "Well, why don't we go and visit Imani… She will teach you more on thinking during combat but today, it'll be with bots and fighting with her so good luck Alex. I'll be off now, I need to go up and work more… It seems as more awakened are needed at these times as more gates are appearing. I wanted another practice with Imani but I guess these are greater calls than mock battles with someone weaker than you." Midnight said as she walked away.
Alex waved her goodbye and walked out of the room. He entered the surveillance room to see Imani sitting, watching every CCTV camera footage. She turned to Alex and smiled, "Ready for today?"
Hearing Imani, Alex nodded, "I am…" He was ready. Imani smiled and stood up, "We'll start with reviewing your training than talking more about thinking properly for combat. After that, I'll take you to do some situations with bots as your enemies and we'll end with you and I have a small mock battle. How does that sound?" She looked excited.
Alex nodded and spoke, "it sounds great, I can begin anytime you say." He was enthusiastic. Imani looked at Alex and thought, 'I wouldn't mind seeing that battle side of him today as well… He looked so excited battling those reapers so I guess I get to see that same expression but with him battling bots.' She turned to the camera, 'To be more timid in actuality but during the battle, smiling while the blood of your enemies covers your face… Alex really is a different person during combat… I guess what Master Ryan said about people's behaviors changing during certain situations and when they are doing something specific is real… Alex seems to be more… Hmm… Cold? I guess cold is the right word. Alex seems to be colder when he fights. He seems to enjoy the thrill without even knowing it… Which is good in a way. We just need to prevent him from wanting to feel that thrill all the time or else we would have an unwanted situation in our hands that that would be annoying to deal with for anyone.' Imani thought.
She turned to the screen and started to explain the mistakes he made in the morning training. She also went over the things in the simulation that Alex did the day before. Going over his mistakes then as well. She ended the explanation by Telling Alex to think more. "You might not realize it, but there is a lot more thinking than crossing weapons in combat… You think of everything before you do a certain activity in combat. Should you cut towards his legs or his hands? What will be affected if you cut a certain part of his body? What will the enemy do next if you injured them or injured a certain part of their body… What hidden weapons would they have, What hidden attacks could they have… You could never know so going over the possible things that could happen, even if they sound unlikely is the way to go for you during combat… I'm sure that the best example of you that you've experienced is the reaper yesterday, right?" Imani explained slowly and ended with a question.
Alex nodded, "That is true… I didn't expect the long ranged reapers to act that way, especially the last two ones… I thought they would try to jump away from me but the second last one just jumped towards me and shot me… Luckily I tried an idiotic move which at least protected my head from being shot… And then there was the last one which provided so much trouble for me… It seemed to be taking time so that its buddies could come closer to me and attack me… that's how I got slash all over my back that day… But after regaining some of my energy, I stopped the bleeding and went for it without fear… It was weird at first to see something that was using a bow non stop just drop that bow and pick up a small dagger but I guess that surprise worked in its favor and it got me injured… But at last, I got it to fall on its back and took it down with a clean cut." Alex slowly spoke. He looked proud of his achievement.
Imani nodded and smiled, "You did yell in that battle… The pain you experience there and the pain you experience in real life are the same so all those attacks were hurting you like they would have if you were out… So holding on for that long even after bearing that many wounds are very impressive… You also took some risks, especially that las attack where you did something that you never had before… your ability to copy and imitate moves from seeing them carefully might have helped but still, that was extremely impressive." She then turned to the screen, "But we're not here to talk about that… We can work on your quick thinking by setting you up for situations that can only be solved with proper thinking… One of the best is hostage situations… Reapers don't do this, which is very obvious but doing this exercise is very good to get you thinking more… Plus, who knows, we have weird evolutions happening with reapers every day. Someday, they might gain more intelligence and even just take a hostage and use it against us. So get ready… And follow me." She said as she walked out of the room.
Alex followed closely, he was ready for anything. The deep dive of every Mistake made by Alex made him realize how much he needed to improve. Alex could even say that he wouldn't pass the challenge no matter what it was if he didn't have proper knowledge about combat. And this was the only way. 'I need to get good at this… Once this is done, I can get into the challenge with confidence… Midnight's attacks and Imani's training… and Hopefully these secret powerful moves that combine healing and combat together to make powerful moves as well… But I don't know what or how Oj will teach them to me… My powers are different than his or at least that's what I think … But healing might also be the same… which reminds me that I need to act like I have no idea how to heal others and act like I'm slowly learning how to heal other people.. That will be a pain…' Alex was in deep thought. Imani looked at Alex and shook her head, "Don't worry about anything. Just enter the room. I will brief you on what to do once you enter." She said as she opened a door for Alex to enter.
Chapter 103: The Training Begins! | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Alex nodded and walked into the room. He looked around to see that he was inside a large house. He walked slowly, looking around him. "This looks like a rich person's house." He spoke. Imani walked inside behind Alex and smiled, "You could say that It is the interior of a costly mansion… Well, it's just a recreation of how it would look but that's not the main point here. The main point is, You'll have to deal with the bots, while not raising alarm… I did say something about reapers but this is to help you deal with creatures worst than the reapers itself…" Imani looked at Alex.
Alex looked back at Imani and asked, "there are other creatures worse than these reapers?" He was confused by her words. He didn't believe it at all." Alex waited for an answer from Imani.
Hearing Alex's question, Imani smiled. She nodded and walked to Alex, "Tell me, Alex, are you sure that you haven't seen creatures worst than Reapers? The vile creatures who can use their powers for good but a few decide to use it for the worse… The creatures who do worse things that reapers couldn't have even tried to re create… Can you not guess those types of creatures?" She asked in a curious fashion.
'I've heard his stories… He is a victim as well. But when asked about it, that thought doesn't even come to his mind… I don't know if that's sad or amazing… Whatever it is, I'd have to say that Alex will need to accept that these creatures can be the best you've ever met or the absolute worst…' Imani was very curious about Alex's reaction.
Alex looked serious, He looked down and nodded, "I see what you're talking about… Looking at it that way, I guess they really are worse than reapers… Humans are the biggest monsters that I've seen." He thought back to everything that he had gone through.
Imani nodded and smiled, "Well, Not everyone is bad… You can look at the people that you've met till now and already confirm for yourself that people can be amazing as well… That's why you're here, to learn how to save the innocents from the ones who mean harm…" Imani then ran forward and into the house, "But that's going too deep into this topic. Some are good, some are bad, Most are in the middle. All you need to do is save the goods from the bads… That's why you're here, I'm the good so save me from the baddies." She laughed as she disappeared from Alex's vision.
Alex looked confused by Imani's action but he quickly understood, "She's fast…" He said to himself as he slowly walked up the stairs. "But she is right… There are many people in the middle… I guess I just think so much about heroes that I've just come under the impression that people are either good or bad but people are mostly various shades of grey." Alex sighed.
He then slapped himself and took a deep breath, 'I'm not here to think too much. I wasn't told much except that I'm here to save a hostage from people… I need to silent so that they don't deal with the hostage before I save her. The hostage here is Imani and she ran upwards so most likely the enemies will be upstairs with her being captured by them.' Alex thought as he silently walked down a hallway after climbing the stairs.
He looked around and saw that the hallway leads to two other hallways, both going opposite directions. Alex sighed, 'I wish I had an ability to detect or read a place like a map.' He took a deep breath 'At least having an ability like that would help me in cases where I need to act like a true hero…'
Alex suddenly paused. His body froze.
Imani, who was sitting in the middle of the room looked at a screen in her hands with a confused gaze, 'He seemed to have gotten confused by the hallways but that wouldn't have led him to just freeze on the spot… Did it? If so, Does a simple guessing game make him Freeze?' Imani shook her head, 'No, I don't think that's the case… Why did he suddenly just stop like that?' She was very curious
Alex looked at the ground, his fists tightly closed. A small weird, almost creepy smile formed on his face. 'I'm playing the hero role here… I get to be a hero, and save someone in a situation filled with bad guys who are trying to stop me… This is in a way fulfilling my dreams as a kid, It's exactly what I've been wanting. To be a hero, To be someone who was looked up to for doing good. For saving lives.'
Alex took a deep breath and looked up. His face turned serious, "I'll need to de my best here… My dreams are being made right now, I should do the absolute best. Nothing wrong should be done, no mistakes at all!" His body seemed to be filled with energy.
Imani, who was sitting on the ground with a confused expression suddenly lit up, "To think he was just hyping himself up… I guess I jumped too soon and underestimated Alex." She then smiled, "That might have been one hell of a creepy smile but It doesn't seem evil… Well, I guess all I need to do is watch as you try to save me. I wish you the best of Luck Alex, I have high hopes for you." She looked around her. A small room filled with bots. They looked lifeless but as soon as Imani tapped on the screen in her hands, They seemed to come to life.
"Boys, your commands have been given, Give it your best to made Alex have a hard time. Train him well!" She looked excited to see what Alex would do next.
Alex walked to the left hallway, 'I hope this is correct.' Alex thought when he deiced which hallway to walk in. He looked around him, looking at the various decorations and paintings. However, an unsettling feeling filled Alex as he seemed to notice a small pattern.
