Ryan then turned to Midnight and Imani, "You two have a simpler job. Investigate the Brotherhood of Freedom. I have all the latest information that shadow has gathered for me until now so use that as well. We have many suspected buildings of operations for that terrorist group so take your time and go through them properly. Just ignore the ones that have red cross marks on them. They have already been investigated. Take lethal actions if you have to but try to stay away from killing. We are the awakened bureau, the last thing we try to do is kill people. That's the job for the military." Ryan then turned around and took a seat.
The two teams nodded and looked at each other. They all seemed very serious about all of this and were ready for the mission. They stood up and walked to Ryan. Ryan nodded and spoke, "You can start now, I have sent you all the documents that are needed for the mission to your phones so you can look at that for now. If more information is needed, call me."
Ryan made a serious expression, "This is a very important thing and I trust you four will go through with these missions properly and with proper caution. And if you need to, go all out. We will not let an attack on our facilities be taken so lightly. The initial attacks have just ignited the fire, but that emp strike was a few hundred gallons of fuels being poured onto that fire. This is not only for the sake of our secrets but for the sake of our pride. We won't let anyone get away after messing with us without harsh consequences." He looked a small bit angry.
The four nodded when they heard Ryan. Midnight walked to Ryan and smiled, "Don't worry about that, We will get to the end of this and get those who were involved… But for now, answer my question." Ryan nodded when he heard Midnight, "what is the question?"
Midnight smiled and looked around the room, "I swear that I saw Vis somewhere when we initially entered the room when master Zhun was still here. But as soon as we all entered the room, he went away… That says to me that you have Vis on a certain mission as well and he was here before us to learn about that mission, what might that be?" She was curious.
Ryan smiled when he heard Midnight, "Vis is also investigating the Brotherhood, well… He was. His new mission is searching the place where an officer was said to have gone missing. The red crosses are the places where Hana and Vis have gone through to investigate on their own but it resulted in nothing. Now that Vis has a new job, you two will be going over this mission. Now, go! I have more paperwork to deal with here in the office." Ryan thought back at the stack of papers in his office and sighed.
Midnight and Imani nodded and walked out of the room. Oj and Mary also walked out of the room. Ryan followed behind and went to his office, "This is going to be annoying to manage… I just hope that Whatever caused Hana to be so angry will just go away."

"Hmm" Alex stood up when he heard the same deep voice. He looked around to see that he was in the same thick white fog once again.
"It seems what I thought of you was correct… It was slow and I expected you to be quicker to thinking but still, not everyone could have done that. For an average man, it would have been nearly impossible as they wouldn't have the required knowledge but you seemed to know how healing works and reversed the logic to learn that technique. Now, we have a new challenge for you… Something that will be more difficult!" Alex felt as if he was falling once more, the temperature around him was increasing as well.
Chapter 116: Rest? | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Alex landing on a hard rocky surface, the temperatures were very high. He was already sweating, "It feels like I'm going deeper and deeper into the earth." Alex said as he looked around, not only were the grounds rocky but the walls and the entire room around him seemed to be made of some form of hard rock. Alex stood up and walked around the room.
'I won't make the same mistake of not knowing my environment like last time… At times, I was cornered by those gremlins so It was a pain but I need to try and remember this room quickly so I don't get cornered as well.' Alex went around the room, it was another really big room, almost like a huge hall. Alex saw many long spikes on the walls, 'if someone were to be pushed towards those walls, they would be killed almost instantly… Or if they survived, it would be almost impossible to get up from this.' He noted in his mind.

Mary and Oj sat in a car, they two were heading towards the military base, "I still don't understand fully why they don't let us just handle the entire thing on our own. It's a case of mutiny in our ranks and another organization wants to take the mission of finding out the attackers." Mary sounded slightly annoyed. Oj smiled, "Well, You should know by now that we don't take any forms of attack to the people or towards us very well, If someone decides to attack us… There will be some strict measures." Oj looked at Mary.
Mary nodded, "I get that but still, The bureau should have trust in us to conduct the investigation, shouldn't it? I get the doubts but there should be trust among each other. I can't be the only one thinking this?" She spoke.
Oj shook his head, "Mary, you're very different from the others. You used to be a part of us that's why we trust you among the rest. That's the only reason we have you on this, as a form of respecting the opinions of the army, we let someone from the army join this. But The bureau has been very straightforward with it's standing with the army. We use our awakened powers to combat the reapers from the gates… And the army only sends their non awakened to take care of it, unless it's a special case like those crystals… Your entire team has top tier A-rank awakened and even two S ranks among your ranks. But we only know some of them, the rest only seem to have redacted in their files… I'm sure that you could understand how the bureau would find it difficult to support the military when things are being kept a secret from others…"
He took a deep breath, " That's why they didn't want to involve too much military personnel into this investigation, the last thing we need is someone to betray us while we conduct the investigation… Hell, I don't think you would have even been allowed to join this if not for your past… We would have done this secretly without the hand of the military, which was probably the original plan. Even now, it's mostly in secret. Only the general and the top captains know of it. I think that the top dogs got involved and were very adamant that we involve the military in this. That's the end of it." He sounded very serious.
Mary nodded and smiled, "That's very true… I can't say much but it is true that the military is suspect about a few things which I don't agree with but I'm just their hound by this point. I only do as told by our captain so I don't have much say. I do want to join the bureau again but a contract is a contract. I can't betray what I swore to do so that's what it is. I apologize for being a bit angry before, I'm just annoyed by this entire thing. It's like the bureau and the military have some form of hatred against each other and if it continued, it might lead to something that could ruin both of us…" She looked at Oj, her smile turning into a worried expression.
Oj nodded, "I'm sure that the respective leaders know that, we all know it. It's at the back of our minds, This new Brotherhood of Freedom seems to be taking advantage of all this… I don't think that the military took any form of action and attacked us, no one does. But we still are careful about it. I'm sure that everyone knows that the brotherhood is behind the attacks, it's the only logical thing that makes sense. The use of military weapons might be to create some kind of friction between the two but once the investigation is done, we'll be able to figure this out."
Oj smiled back Until then, why don't we go through with this and give it our all? I'll be going through the factory, watching the activity of the workers in the factory while you go over the barracks next to the factory. Just look for any suspicious people. The files have already cleared what you should do so all we can do is follow instructions. It will be a pleasure working with you again Mary." The car slowly stopped and Oj walked out.
Mary nodded and waved Oj goodbye, she continued in the car, towards the barracks.

"You… Well, I guess I underestimated you. Well, the next challenge will be a difficult one indeed. I won't give you any hints but you will be going against two types of enemies at once. Survive, and you will move on to the second last challenge!" Alex nodded when he heard the voice and looked ready. However, nothing happened. After some silence, the voice continued, "however, I am no beast who makes people fight non stop. You can rest for now. This room will be your chambers." The voice seemed to be chuckling.
Alex, a bit confused by the words, nodded. He didn't know what to do or think as the situation seemed to be a bit special.
Chapter 117: Mission! | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Midnight and Imani sat in a dark room, a few computer screens in front of them. All showing images of different locations. Imani smiled at midnight, "It seems like we have a lot of places left to check even after so many were already checked previously… But I guess this is good as well, It's been a while since I've had proper missions…" She looked excited.
Midnight shook her head, "well, I get your excitement but this is also something that causes stress… I've only been training for reapers, and although I can fight properly, not much recent experience on actual missions. I did a few in the past but It's been a while… But your words did pique my interest, did Ryan send you to missions?" She looked curiously at Imani.
Imani smiled and nodded, "He did, but it was mostly small-time criminals. Essentially a few rouge awakeneds at from E to D rank in strength who got a little bit too cocky and tried their hands at crimes. You know, the other thing that the Bureau handles." She looked proud.
Midnight nodded, "Ahh, yeah. I did do those missions in the past… I thought those jobs were moved under Hana's jurisdiction but It seems like they are making you all do some of the easier ones as well… I guess it's good in a way. Good training and they get to see what happens if they ever decide to try your hand at crime using their abilities." She looked at Imani.
Imani nodded, "that is true, I was shocked to hear that at first, someone who was known to be the least likable person among the awakened was the leader of such an important organization to all of us, The bureau of Intelligence. But her powers are too good to refuse. I've seen tapes of her taking down enemies with a single punch. Never has there ever been anyone that was able to stand up and take her second blow." She looked at the locations as she spoke.
Midnight also scrolled through the given locations, "That's true but there are many cases when she was evenly matched. But I guess that's not, for now, We need to focus on this mission. It feels good to be back and doing these types of missions. It's good to take down scums abusing their powers…" Her gaze suddenly turned cold, "I can't forgive them for attacking a place where Buster was…"
Midnight shook her head, 'I can't get distracted… Buster is fine, it was just an initial scare when I heard the news but He's fine… But I still can't let them get away after attempting an attack on the facility…' She looked at a certain location and nodded, "This one."
Imani looked at where Midnight was pointing and nodded, "A pretty sketch area… It's out of the city but that would make it easier for criminals. And There were a few complaints to the police about that place so this seems like a good place." She agreed with Midnight's choice.
Midnight smiled and looked at the screen, It was an abandoned factory, The entire thing looked like it was taken from a horror movie. Imani laughed, "It would be funny if we really saw any criminals here though… I don't think an organization that did so much to harm us would just be living in a clearly sketchy place. But it is worth a try, reverse psychology is a thing." She looked at Midnight for affirmation.
Midnight nodded, "it's a sketchy place from the get-go and if they wanted, It would be a place that people wouldn't really search first. But that depends on what type of person they are. However, As I said before. The complaints are fresh, only yesterday. That's why Shadow hasn't been able to investigate it and now his job is put on us. This seems to be the best place to check out. An officer also went missing when told to check the site but as soon as he went on the highway, his signal was lost so we can't say that this place was the place of crime exactly. But the chances are pretty good."
She stood up and looked at Imani, "If we get this on the first try, I'm sure that we'll be able to pay those scums for using cheap tactics to attack Bureau of Awakened property without thinking about the repercussions. We'll also be the first ones to beat them bloody, wouldn't we?" She looked happy.
Imani nodded, 'It didn't look like it at first but midnight really is angry… She is trying to hide to herself but no one would say it like that…' She shook her head and sighed, 'I understand her anger so I won't question it. I would also be angry if the place where someone I loved was attacked… but that'll take some time to even find someone like that. I guess it's good for missions like these, no one to worry about.' She said to herself before walked out of the room.
The two were ready for their first investigation.

Mary walked into a small building, her clothes were very formal. She walked to the desk and tilted her head sideways, "I thought this was an army barrack. Why are you sleeping at this time?" She looked annoyed.
The man in front of Mary jolted awake and looked at Mary with slight annoyance. He looked at her from top to bottom but paused as soon as he went to her chest. The man's eyes opened wide and he instantly stood up, "I'm sorry Ma'am! It was a rough night of training so I fell asleep without knowing! It won't ever happen again!" He said from the top of his lungs. He wasn't looking at her breasts, it was the badge on her shirt.
Mary sighed and rolled her eyes, "Doesn't matter, I'll let you off this time. Get back to work. I'm just here to check on everything." She said as she walked to a door, 'this will be fun. I'm just doing a barrack check so I can do almost whatever I want to and not raise much suspicion… Investigating this way will be the best.'
Chapter 118: Sleep | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Alex looked around the room once again. It was bare and nothing interesting was around before but now, the room seemed to have a simple bed at the corner of the room and some furniture. Alex, a tiny bit shocked by what he saw walked up to the bed and slowly put his hands on the bed sheets. 'It's an actual bed, and it doesn't look too bad… Hell, this is better than what I had in my old apartment.' He thought as he slowly sat on the bed.
Alex didn't know how much time he had to rest so he just lied on the bed, he didn't want to believe that this was all real. He had this thought at the back of his head telling him that it was all a trick. But Alex shook his head looked at the ceiling, 'I'm already tired, the healing potions and healing skill have healed my body physically but my mind is exhausted. My stamina had to be drained countless times as well as my mana only to be regenerated by the potions. Because of this, my mind is just all over the place and confused.'
Alex sighed, "I guess that there is always some drawback to everything. Using too many healing potions and mana potions caused my brain to just want rest." Alex continued to lie down, thinking about the last two challenges. Both of them seemed to be challenging something specific about him. "The first one was testing my control over my own impulses… that woman must have been my actual biological mother so I felt some connection to her… He used the fact that I've always wanted to meet my parents against me to lower my guards but I kept on and I acted quickly, taking down the fakes… I was so close to giving in to it as well but I guess being betrayed once made me judge these situations." He laughed a slight hint of sadness in his eyes.
"The next was a very weird challenge. But I guess it was trying to test my intelligence… I was sure to lose that battle but I got lucky and heard how healing worked the day before… If not for that, I wouldn't have figured out how to take those creatures down. I guess luck was a factor to win that battle as well and I got really lucky." Alex smiled. He looked around the room and saw nothing. Alex felt like he had been thinking for a few hours but he didn't have the ability to check his actual time.
'I guess It is an actual resting break for me… My health and mana are properly regenerating and I'm feeling really sleepy right now.' Alex, without even properly realizing it fell into a deep sleep.
A small hum echoed in his room as he slept. A small voice spoke, "This one is an interesting one, isn't it? Blessed, yet still so powerless… I wonder how far it can go." It was a high pitched female voice. Another voice replied, "It seems like we will find out soon. If It does win us, then I have nothing to say but we were wrong in doubting it from how it looked… However, We're never wrong when it comes to this, are we?" A deeper female voice chuckled.
The initial voice laughed, "Indeed, We have gone through thousands of contesters over such a long amount of time but never has any of them even been close to winning… It might be set up so that the enemies are close to how strong you are but strength is the last thing that wins this challenge…" The second voice followed up, "indeed, strength is the last thing that is needed. Well, we can only wait and see if this is the chosen one for us. The blessed one, we shall await." The voice laughed and dispersed. After their voices disappeared, The hums started to get louder.
Alex however, didn't notice a thing. He didn't hear anything in his sleep, his mind and body were very tired. An unknown amount of time passed, Alex slowly woke up. He looked around to see that he was in the same room. He got up and walked around and saw that nothing had changed, "I wonder how long I was asleep. It must have been some time because I've never felt this energized after waking up before…" He said to himself as he walked around some home. He looked at his body and saw no change but he did feel a lot lighter. His head was also a lot clearer. Alex felt happier knowing that he was in good shape now and he knew that he could be ready for the next challenge.
