Ryan took a deep breath and looked at the two with a serious expression, "It seems like the intruders you fought were just distractions."
Midnight and Alex both exclaimed in unison, "WHAT?"
Ryan nodded and continued, "It's true. It's would be the only logical explanation for the report that I just got…" Alex looked at Ryan with a confused gaze and asked, "Report?"
Ryan looked at Alex and Midnight and nodded, "Yes, I just got a report on something bizarre… Around a few of the corpses that were brought in the facility. All of them were supposed to have the crystal within their chests but a few were missing. "
Alex and Midnight looked shocked by the news they just heard. Ryan looked at the two and continued, "it seems like we might have underestimated the enemy here. I thought they were just trying to send a signal that they would send more attacks at us, the signals being the two intruders but to think it was a distraction… It also means that they have a very high ranked Awakened among them, someone who can sneak around and get through a highly secure facility, filled with people and even three A rank awakened without even being unnoticed. They left nothing behind as a clue for their movement… Which is very scary to think about. The weird part is that they only took a few crystals, that also the smaller ones from the weaker Awakened."
Alex and Midnight looked a bit shaken up when they thought about the enemy sneaking behind their backs without anyone noticing. Alex then quickly thought of something, "What is one of the workers or scientists was under the mind control?"
Ryan nodded, "That is a possibility so that's why everyone in the facility is to do a blood test, including you two. That's why I called you two here. Well, that and one more reason. "
Ryan took a deep breath and said, "You two will need to be extra careful when training, if the tests of everyone come as negative, it would mean that the enemy truly has someone who can sneak up on us without even being noticed. So they could come after you two if they wanted to…"

Chapter 65: Imani | Hero System! Transported to Another World

When they heard Ryan, Alex and Midnight nodded. Ryan spoke again before they left the office, "Once again, be careful... I'm going to send some more people to secure the hotel for Alex." I think it's best for us to keep Alex inside the hotel premises. You can practice, but you have to be much more vigilant. The high ranking stealth awakened will be a cause of the issue. Alex looked confused for a second but he nodded, 'I'll just tell her to leave, I'd be a hassle having someone doing everything for me. Plus I'll need to be alone to use my system, wouldn't want people to think I'm crazy or suspicious.' Alex thought to himself before speaking, "I'd be fine alone, Plus Midnight offered to cook for me so I'd be bad for me to decline her. So She can stay in her own room. I'd also like a little privacy to myself for everything else, it's the safer option of course."
Ryan smiled when he heard Alex, he looked at Midnight and said, "I guess it'd be fine. You probably don't have anything in your house except the clothes that Hana helped buy for you but again, knowing Hana, I'd say you'd be surprised once you return to the hotel. I respect your privacy so the person I will send with you will be going in a different car, with a few more people with her. She will just test the blood samples of everyone in the Hotel and will be in charge of security."
Midnight looked at Ryan and said, "will it be fine? I heard that there was a lack of Awakened because of the increased amount of gates opening nearby, wouldn't it be a problem sending out awakened to protect us?"
Ryan smiled, "Well, only one of them is an Awakened, someone you don't know well. I've been training her in secret for missions like these. Imani, An B-ranked Awakened but her strength is very close to an A-ranked. She could go one on one with a Lower A ranked Awakened at her best but still, she lacks the power to become one. But She will upgrade soon. But until then, She will take care of the lower-ranked gates in the area. She was tall, nearly as tall as Alex. She had long braided hair that ran to her waist. Her eyes were hazelnut in color and her perfectly tanned skin made her look even more beautiful. Midnight looked at the woman and said, "oho… Seeing how pretty she is, I wonder what else did Ryan 'train' her in…" Midnight laughed as she walked over to the woman.
The Woman looked at Midnight and Smiled, "Sir Ryan has treated me with the highest of respect, He has trained me in the art of combat and deception. As well as the key art of awareness." She looked at Alex and smiled once more.
Midnight laughed and said, "It seems like we have someone very capable to protect Alex, At least I need to worry as much." She looked at Alex and laughed.
Alex looked at Midnight and scratched his head, 'I just hope to get more powerful quicker. The Last thing I want is to be protected every moment of my life. This just feels wrong to me. I don't dislike it but I want the feeling of not needing any protection from others.' Alex felt more determined to get more powerful. He couldn't wait till he got home to check out the new features he unlocked in the system.
The woman laughed and said, "I forgot my introduction, I'm Imani, Your personal Bodyguard for an unknown amount of time. I also shall help you with your daily needs if required."
Alex smiled and replied, "I'm Alex, I won't be needing any help so you don't need to push yourself, Nice to meet you."
Midnight nodded, "I also don't need any personal help… I'm midnight, A ranked awakened. Supersonic Voice… Nice to meet you." Midnight introduced herself stating her powers as she was curious about Imani's powers as well.
Imani seemed to get what Midnight was saying and continued, "I'm a B rank Awakened, Enhanced Senses… I have a high physical prowess as well so I'm good for close quarters combat."
Chapter 66: Love? | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Imani looked at Midnight and smiled, "I'm a B ranked Awakened, training under Sir Ryan. My powers are Enhanced senses and high physical prowess. So I specialize in guarding and close quarters combat."
Midnight nodded when she heard Imani, She smiled and looked at Imani, "well, I hope you keep Alex safe and sound. For now, I just want to go home and fall asleep. This day has been tiring." Her gaze then ran to Alex," I'm sure you also feel that way, right Alex?"
Alex also nodded, "I wouldn't mind having a long warm bath after getting back into the hotel. Just relax like that for a while."
Imani nodded when she heard the two, she turned towards the Exit and said, "Well, then, we better get going. I won't be joining you two in the same car but I will be in a different car, behind yours. From now on, you can ignore me like a shadow or if needed, you can call me for any form of help. My job is to protect and serve you for the time being."
Alex laughed when he heard Imani, "Well, I have some basic knowledge in cooking food, and from what Ryan said, there might be some food in the house. Cleaning is also something that I can do so you need not worry about a thing."
Imani nodded when she heard Alex and walked towards a car outside the Bureau. Midnight and Alex also exited the building and walked over to their car. They entered the car and headed towards their Hotel.
Midnight looked at Alex and smiled, "Well now you have a little maid for you… Well, a maid who is also assigned to protect you, Isn't that romantic?" She said with sly eyes, seeming to plan something.
Alex scratched his head questioned, "Romantic?" He was confused.
Midnight nodded when she heard Alex and laughed, "Yup, very romantic. Haven't you read the stories where a 'Young Master' is protected by his maid. He then falls in love with the maid. Their love being eternal. It seems like Alex will be a Man soon." She put her hands on her cheeks as her eyes glistened. Alex's eyes opened wide, he couldn't help but imagine. But Alex quickly shook his head and looked at the dreaming Midnight. "I… I don't think she meant it the way you thought. Plus, I won't be asking her for anything else…"
Midnight nodded as she puffed up her cheeks and pouted, "At least let a woman imagine something romantic like that… Men are so boring like that, Even buster doesn't do anything special."
Alex Laughed when he heard Midnight, he seemed to be slightly surprised when he heard Midnight but when Alex thought through it, It was very obvious.
Midnight looked at Alex and laughed, "I might say things to entice a man but that's just how I normally am. My heart is taken by that dense man." Alex laughed in return as well when he heard Midnight.
Midnight then gave a small smirk towards Alex and said, "How about you, Do you have anyone special? Doesn't have to be from this world. From where you're from as well, anyone?" She seemed to be curious.
Alex shook his head, "No one, Like I said this morning in the facility, I was alone my entire life. I didn't really have people who knew me well, except for that old woman who sympathized with me, that's it."
Midnight looked a bit disappointed when she heard Alex but she slowly turned to the road and smiled slowly, "It seems like that kid who had never experienced that form of love will be overwhelmed."
Alex seemed confused by Midnight's words but he didn't keep it in mind. He had already grasped what personality she had and didn't take her words seriously, 'She likes to tease and joke around a lot so It's better to not take those words seriously.'
After some time, the two arrived at the Hotel. Alex walked out to see that the entire area was quiet. He looked across the road towards the site where the evolving Gate appeared to see a few soldiers assigned there. Around the soldiers, a few scientists sat, doing experiments. Midnight looked at Alex and smiled, "Those scientists are checking the environment and the EMF left behind by the gate. Well, that's all I know about the tests, Buster could have explained in more detail."
Alex shook his head and walked inside the Hotel, "It doesn't really matter. Not everything needs to be explained in detail, I would probably forget half of the things that Buster would have said so it's fine by me."
Midnight laughed when she heard Alex. After they entered the hotel, Imani also followed behind, entering the building. Alex noticed a large suitcase in her hands.
Imani noticed Alex's gaze and smiled, "It's to check the blood. You two should head over to your rooms, I'll be checking everyone's blood here before we can deem your contact with them safe."
She turned her head to the reception and said, "Call out everyone who works here in turns, You'll be the first one to be checked." The woman hastily nodded when she saw a small badge on Imani��s chest and quickly did as told. Imani wore some masks and gloves, She also gave the gloves to Alex and Midnight and said, "Wear these before you touch the elevator buttons, We still don't know how they transmit the mind influencing parasite so we need to be extra careful."
The two nodded and wore the gloves and Mask. They quickly walked towards the elevator.
After entering the elevator, Alex looked at Midnight and said, "It feels weird being treated live this, I probably would have been fine on my own. This type of protection and treatment should be given to higher-ups who can't protect themselves, I can protect myself pretty well, plus I have you nearby so nothing will happen."
Chapter 67: Interruption | Hero System! Transported to Another World
Midnight shook her head, "I know it feels weird but from looking at the past as well as your current powers, You're an asset to the country. The elevator stopped, Midnight looked at the floor number and smiled, "Well, that's my stop, I'll be going now, Remember my room number if you need anything. I'll be happy to help. You can also call the reception if you need something, well once everyone is cleared from the tests. Imani will also come to your room in a while, I think.. No, I'm sure she will, so you can ask her for anything as well. I will come up to your room in an hour so don't be doing anything inappropriate at that time." The elevator doors opened, Alex looked at the door and was surprised, "There are boxes here, lots and lots of boxes…" He couldn't help but walk towards the boxes to open them. As he walked to the boxes, He noticed a small note on one of them. Alex walked to the note and picked it up.
"Here are your supplies to survive for a week or so. I've already shown you the kitchen so all you need to do is put these boxes there. The vegetables in the fridge might look like the fridge can't hold all of these but It's bigger than you think. That's all. I will be busy with my investigation so we won't be able to meet for some time. But if you do need me for some reason, I've left my contact number at the end of this note. And from what Ryan told me a few moments ago, If you want to help me out in the investigation, you can only do so once you reach the B rank in terms of powers. Take care… Hana."
Alex slowly read the note and smiled, He then looked at the number written at the bottom of the note and entered it in his phone, "Thank you." He sent a message to Hana.
Alex then carried the boxes and entered the Room. He walked in and organized everything.
After some time passed, Alex quickly hopped in the bathroom and took a quick bath. After some time, He changed clothes and jumped on the couch. "Finally, I can have a look at the system and everything that I've unlocked…" Alex quickly rubbed his hands in anticipation as he opened the System menu. But a voice interrupted him before he could have a proper look at the menu, "Alex! It's me, Imani."
Alex rolled his eyes and sighed, "I guess I'll have to deal with her before looking at the system…" He seemed to be a bit annoyed but Alex quickly calmed down. He walked to open the door, "Is there anything that I can help with?" He said when he saw Imani.
Imani shook her head and smiled, "I was actually going to ask the same question to you, that's why I came here. That and another reason." Alex looked at Imani, confused, and asked, "Well, I don't really need any help so It's fine. What's the other reason?"
Imani nodded, "Yup, Before anything I guess I should brief you. Everyone in the hotel is clear but we will be performing tests on anyone in the nearby areas. Until then, please don't leave the premises." Ale nodded in return, "Ahh okay, I got it." Imani smiled and said, "Then I'll be going, Please call for me if you need anything. " She walked towards the elevator and headed to her floor.
Alex sighed and jumped back on the Couch and said, "Well, At least It'll be quiet now. I can finally look at the System." He once again opened the System menu but just like before, a voice interrupted him, "Alex!" He took another deep breath and walked towards the door, He opened it to see Midnight in front of the door, a small box in her hands. She looked at Alex and smiled, "As I said before, I brought some food!"
