  “What video?”

“Oh, you didn’t know. My attorney has a video of you spitting on me. So, your claims about being attacked won’t hold up in court. You're going to look like a fucking fool when everyone sees how much of a liar you are. So, Lena, I'm going to advise you not to go along with this shit because not only would you lose, but bitch, you're going to embarrass your entire family and you know Ali won’t stand for that. So, be a good bitch and drop the fucking charges before things get real fucking messy for you!”

I hung up with a sneaky smile on my face. That rant was liberating, a much-needed tirade that Lena was long overdue for. She had tried me for the last time, and I was hoping that she took my warning seriously because I was willing to fight her ass tooth and nail to stay out of jail.

I got inside my truck and cranked the engine. Despite me not wanting it initially, I was glad that Nadir had sent it. My G-Wagon was my baby, and I was relieved that I had two cars now, instead of one. I reached into my purse and noticed the card that Nadir had given me the last time we met. I took it out and eyed it before I opened the envelope. He had stated that it was from Raye, and in that moment, I didn’t want to hear shit from her two-faced ass. Now that my emotional state was in a much better shape, I decided to read it.

  Amai,

I know you're pissed at me and you have no right to be. I didn’t set you up. It was Jaide who was listening to our conversation that morning and followed me to meet you. It was from there that she contacted Lena and had the police come up to the restaurant to arrest you. You have to believe me. I would never betray you like that. I've always been a loyal person and my loyalty hasn’t changed because you and Nadir are no longer together. Call me when you're ready to talk. I just needed you to know the truth.

I chuckled in disbelief as I read the note once more. If Raye was telling the truth, that meant Jaide was the person who set me up. I don’t know what I had done to this bitch for her to switch up on me like this. Not only had she blindsided me when she told Nadir that I wasn’t happy with him, but she had done it again and gotten me arrested. I grabbed my phone and dialed Raye’s number. I made sure to call private because I wasn’t ready for her to have that kind of access to me.

  “Who is this?” she answered.

  “It’s me,” I said.

  “Amai?”

  “Yeah.”

  “Oh my God… hold on.”

I heard shuffling in the background until she came back on the phone.

“I had to go in my closet to make sure my conversation isn't being listened to.”

“So, Jaide really did that shit?” I questioned right away.

“Yes, she listened to me make plans with you and then followed me to the restaurant. She's the one that called Lena and had her send the cops up there, not me.”

“Why the fuck does this bitch have it out for me so bad? Like what the fuck did I do to her, besides cut that bitch eye up, for her to have me arrested?”

“Jaide is a fucking hater. You should’ve seen how happy her ass was when Nadir said you two were breaking up.”

“That bitch,” I gritted. “You better watch your back because she's going to turn on you next. Her and Lena seem to be the best of friends, and you never know what that evil-ass lady is putting in her head.”

“Oh, and speaking of Lena, I'm on her shit list, too. She’s mad because I went to meet up with you. She texted me and said that she doesn’t like me anymore because I'm not loyal.” Raye laughed.

I chuckled. “So what? You don’t need that hoe to like you with her old, miserable ass.”

“I know. I'm over her and Jaide. Actually, she just came home because Nadir sent her to a condo because I didn’t want that bitch anywhere near me.”

“I'm so glad I don’t have to deal with that shit anymore.”

Although I was going through the motions, I was happy that I didn’t have to be in Lena or Jaide’s presence anymore. The only people that I truly missed were the boys.

“I know, Amai, and I miss you being here. It’s not the same with you gone. Nasir asked about you, and I don’t even know what to tell him.”

My heart broke because I didn’t factor in how much I would miss the kids when I actually left Nadir.

“I know, and I really hate that it has come to this.”

“I just wanted you to know that I'm innocent and that I would never set you up. I understand that you are no longer apart of the family, so I won’t bother you too much. Just make sure you keep in touch, okay?”

My throat was aching profusely as I attempted to swallow back the cry that was on the verge of spilling from my mouth. This felt like a goodbye, and I wasn’t aware of how much I was hurting without the people who had become my family. My emotions had never been this fucking scrambled before. Nadir had taken me through it and forced me to leave the people I had grown to love the most.

I cleared my throat. “I will, Raye.”

  “Okay, doll. Bye.”

I looked at the screen, noticing she had hung up. Somberly, I placed my phone in my bag and drove off. I was sad again, and I didn’t know when this shit was going to pass.

I sat in silence as Domino ran his mouth about something, I wasn’t paying much attention to. My head was somewhere else and not in this monthly meeting with Domino and Money. I was thinking of a lot, mainly Amai. What was left of her had been packaged and shipped out of my house. There were no more leftovers of the woman, who had me fucked up internally. For days, I wished these feelings away, hoping I would make a fast recovery and move on with my life. I mean, I had two other wives and kids to live for. I had more than enough love in my house, but I had to be honest and admit that ever since Amai left, there had been a void that was too painful to express. There was this vacancy that followed me around like a dark cloud on a stormy day. I didn’t know when this cloudiness would clear up, but I prayed that it was soon because I couldn’t go on feeling like my heart was no longer mine.

“Nadir, did you hear me?” Domino asked.

I blinked my way out of my thoughts and turned my attention toward him. “My bad. What did you say?”

  “I said, Sherman is out.”

My eyes widened. “Word? Why is that?”

Money smacked her lips. “You know his square ass wasn’t cut to play the position. This man had all kinds of people extorting him. He would’ve been a fucking nightmare had we made him the mayor.”

“Wait, hold up. He had more people extorting his ass?” I questioned in disbelief.

Domino nodded. “Yeah, it seems as though he’s fucked the entire city over and now, they want a cut.”

Money snorted. “Ol’ boy was passing that dick around like it was a collection plate.”

I chuckled. “Damn, I thought he only had to worry about Nate. I didn’t know there were more people trying to get some damn money.”

“Me either, until my investigator came back with the information. Needless to say, he was a liability that I didn’t want. So, the current mayor will remain in the office until we find a better candidate down the line.”

“Does Sherman know that he’s out?” I quizzed.

“No.” Domino leaned back. “But you and I are going to tell him, once I schedule a meeting with him.”

I huffed. “Why do you want me to tell him with you? You know I can’t stand his bitch-ass.”

Money smirked. “That’s the beauty of it, Nadir. You can break his little heart and get some instant satisfaction while doing it, duh.”

I smirked. “You swear, you're smart.”

“I'm the smartest bitch you know. Now, tell me I'm lying?” she challenged.

I pondered her declaration for a moment. “You're one of them.”

  She laughed. “Boy, fuck you.”

“Nadir, how have you been with the Amai situation?” Domino asked.

  “I'm good,” I quickly replied.

“I heard you got rid of your fifth wife,” Money joked. “How did you run her away?”

“And I heard that bullet is still in your shoulder. How come you never got it taken out?” I jested.

“You son of a bitch. I told you that’s a sore subject,” she griped, trying to hide her smile.

I grinned. “Well, stop throwing shots at my personal life then.”

“Whatever.” She waved her hand dismissively. “Oh, and I handled that other situation for you, too. That man was not happy about paying more tax.”

Domino’s brows furrowed. “Who’s not happy?”

I grinned as I leaned back in my seat. Canton had violated me by trying to snatch Amai from under my nose. I couldn’t let him get away with trying to play me, so I told Money to go demand more tax from him. I wouldn’t retaliate how I wanted, which was to body his ass, but I would hit him in his pockets. To me, he wasn’t worth a bullet.

“This bitch violated me, so I had Money get more tax from him.”

Money crossed her arms over her chest. “And since I was such a good associate and got the job done, I need a favor from you now.”

  “What's that?”

“I need more guns for my women.”

I nodded without hesitation. “I got you.”

“Thanks.” She stood from her seat. “I have to go be a mom, now. I’ll see you two at the next meeting.”

“Have a good day,” Domino bade her a farewell.

  “A’ight, Money,” I added.

Her heels clacked against the floor until she walked out the door. Domino stared at me inquisitively, which caused me to cock my head.

“What's on your mind, Domino? I know you have something to say.”

He chuckled. “I do, and I want to know how things are really going for you?”

I exhaled deeply. “They're straight, but shit could be better.”

  “Is Amai okay?”

  I shrugged. “I don’t know. I haven’t talked to her.”

That shit seemed foreign coming out of my mouth. Just the thought of not having contact with Amai left me fucked up, but this was what she had wanted.

“Is it over between you two?”

  I tipped my head.

“Hmmph,” Domino grunted. “You did the right thing by letting her go. There’s no need to keep someone around if they don’t want to be.”

I had no response for his statement because it was the truth. My pride didn’t want to let Amai go, but the man in me would not hold her hostage. Plus, she had burned me by being all up in that nigga, Canton’s face. I didn’t want her ass anymore, seeing as though she was freely giving her attention to someone that wasn’t me.

I stood to alert Domino that this conversation was over. “I’ll holla at you later.”

“Okay and make sure you're available to meet with Sherman in the upcoming weeks.”

“I got you,” I assured and exited the conference room.

I entered my home and went straight to my bedroom, so I could freshen up for dinner. Lately, I had been throwing myself into work in an effort to take my mind off the emptiness I was experiencing. I actually felt bad for feeling this way because Raye had been an angel, trying to make sure I was good mentally. Even though she had just suffered a miscarriage, she was caring for me, and I felt like shit for it. I made a mental note to show her my appreciation for being my rock. I never intended on coming off as a selfish man, so conveying how much she meant to me was mandatory.

  Knock, knock.

I turned around and was surprised to see Jaide standing in my doorway. She looked good in a maxi dress that had a double split. Her natural hair was styled in a twist out and her face was lightly made up.

“I see you came back home,” I noted, unbuttoning my shirt.

She came over to me and wrapped her arms around my neck. I leaned down and gave her a much-needed kiss. In spite of the drama she had been causing with everyone, I did miss Jaide and was happy to have her back here.

“I've missed you,” she cooed after she broke the kiss.

“I missed you too. Did you talk to Raye?”

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, I did but she's still acting like she has a stick up her ass. So, whatever.”

“Listen, I can’t have y’all arguing, so whatever y’all need to do to end this shit between you two needs to be squashed.”

“Nadir, you need to tell her ass that. I'm the one that wants peace around here.”

That word made me think of the peace I once had but no longer possessed. The peace that would calm me with just her presence alone. She was the kind of peace that would make me forget about the outside stresses of my life. Unfortunately, that peace was gone, and she was never returning to me.

“Get the shit done, Jaide,” I ordered, taking off my shirt.

I glanced down at her and noticed she had that look in her eye. That expression that told me she needed to feel me just as badly as I needed to feel her.

I licked my lips. “What do you want?”

She gave me a knowing look. “You know what I want. No, scratch that, you know what I need.”

I smiled before I picked her up and laid her across my custom bed. Her fruity scent danced in my nose while I kissed her full lips. Jaide’s body was something I liked to call a work of art. She was curvy with big breasts and an ass that was big and juicy. When I first met her, I thought that she’d had work done, but now that I had experienced her body, I was certain she was all natural.

“What else did you miss besides me?” I whispered, licking her earlobe.

“I missed your dick, buried deep inside me, baby.”

On command, my hardness was fighting to break free from my pants. I pulled down the top of her dress, which exposed those dark nipples of hers. Swiftly, I pulled one into my mouth while teasing the other one with my fingers. Jaide rubbed the back of my head while I consumed her bountiful titties. I wanted to tease her more, but my dick could no longer be patient. I hadn’t had a release in a while so getting straight to the pussy was the first thing on my agenda.

I lifted my upper body and unfastened my belt. Soon after, my mans was standing at attention, ready to be submerged into Jaide’s center.

“Open your legs how I like them,” I instructed her.

With a smile on her face, Jaide spread her legs in a split position, which gave me the enticing sight of her moist middle. Her slit was wet and waiting for me to stroke it.

“Hurry up, baby. I'm aching for you,” she moaned.

I couldn’t let another second pass before I inserted my shaft into her pussy. My eyes closed involuntarily as I slid in and out of her wetness. Usually, I had stamina and could go for hours, but I was backed up, and knew I wouldn’t last long in Jaide.

“Yes, just like that,” she whispered.

My pace was slow because I wanted to savor the feel of her walls. I buried my face in the crook of her neck while thrusting deep into her center.

“Mmm, baby. I love having you inside me.”

I hungrily devoured the skin on her neck while picking up the pace of my strokes.

“All you need is me, Nadir, and nobody else.”

My head popped up from her neck while studying her with my eyes. She had never said anything like this, and I was wondering if this was sex talk or her throwing a subliminal message. Because I was so wrapped up in the feel of her pussy, I didn’t address it. I just pounded her while praying that she got hers off before mine arrived.

“Fuck me just like only you can, baby. I'm about to cum.”

I sat up on my knees and slammed into her pussy like a mad man. Normally, I would flip her over and slam into her ass while slapping her fat ass with my hand, but my dick wouldn’t permit me to do that, at the moment. Jaide was a woman that got off on me beating her walls up. I could fuck her like a porn star because I knew she loved that shit. I always took my time with Raye and Amai. They liked to be seduced, and Jaide liked to be fucked.

Fuck! Here I go thinking about Amai’s ass again…

It seemed like her ass was embedded into my memory, making it hard to let her go. Here I was, immersed into some of the best pussy I’d ever sampled, and I was thinking about Amai.

“Ooohhhh!” Jaide hollered, bringing me back to reality.

Her walls contracted around my dick, which prompted my orgasm to arrive like lightning. I slowed down once the pleasure seized my frame. I emptied my release in Jaide and pulled out slowly.

“What was that?” I asked, slightly out of breath.

  “What was what?” she questioned.

“That talk about you are all I need. You ain't never said nothing like that before, so what's up with that?”

She gave a light shrugged. “I don’t know. I guess, I feel like we’re all each other need, Nadir.”

“What the hell are you trying to say, Jaide?” I quizzed, not in the mood to hear her talk in circles.

“Nothing, Nadir. My goodness, do you have to question everything I say to you now?” she huffed, getting out of bed.

“Yeah, I do because you’ve been acting different lately. So, I'm trying to figure out if that was sex talk or you're trying to tell me something. Which one is it?”

“It’s both,” she shot, pulling her dress over her breasts.

“Both? So, you don’t think I need Raye?”

“No, because she’s not loyal, either.”

I chuckled, but I wasn’t the least bit amused. “So, it was Amai, who wasn’t loyal, and now, it’s Raye. Tell me something, baby, what's your problem with them? You ain't never felt that way about them, so tell me why, all of a sudden, they're not loyal to me.”

“Think about it, Nadir.” She tapped her temple. “Amai never loved you. She just used you to get away from her parents. It also didn’t help that you are very rich and could give her anything she wants. Raye went behind your back and went to see Amai after she betrayed you. That doesn’t show loyalty in my book, so when I say I'm all you need; I mean that shit. No one will have your back like me.”

I couldn’t believe Jaide was saying shit like this. It seemed like she had turned on a light switch that I never knew she possessed. I wasn’t going to argue with her when it came to Amai because ultimately, she was seeing another man behind my back. With Raye, I couldn’t let her paint that narrative against her. Raye was the most loyal person I’d ever known. She was sweet, nurturing, and she truly cared for people. I was bothered when she went to meet with Amai behind my back, but then I quickly realized that Raye had always been a person that wanted to make sure everyone was okay. She couldn’t turn her back on Amai, and I honestly didn’t expect her to.
