Unbelievable, page 19
“My goodness, they told me it was bad, but I wasn’t expecting this,” he said.
“Yes, can you just set the things that can be set, and then I will take care of the rest of the healing,” Zilli told him.
“Yeah okay, it looks like your leg and ankle are both broken, maybe even one of your arms, definitely a few ribs, and your nose. I’m sorry Thea but this will not be pleasant.” Zilli took my hand as I sucked a breath in preparing for the pain.
“I got this.” My body got hot as Rida perked up. “I'm sorry I couldn’t do much during the fight, I can dull the pain, it will feel weird to you, but I will put you in a little box that will make it hurt less,” Rida said then I felt my consciousness fade and my presence in my own body get really small.
“You can do this,” Asim had taken over Zilli. It would appear that both of the Jinn were going to numb the pain of setting my broken bones.
Awesome.
When the doctor was done Zilli carried me into the bathroom and helped me out of my bloody clothes. He turned the hot water on in the shower, then he brushed my hair while the water heated up and helped me step in. My muscled had started to get sore on the walk over but I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, I was in a fight after all. Soreness is to be expected.
The hot water felt amazing but the amount of blood running off of me was a little concerning. I hadn’t realized that I was bleeding that bad. As I stood under the water, I felt the burn everywhere that my skin was broken.
Sasha had pulled hair from the back of my head, my eyebrow was still bleeding, my nose had stopped but the pain was starting to set in. I had a cut on my shoulder that I would assume came from one of her fingernails, and both of my hands were busted up pretty good. I’m still betting on Zilli caving and letting me heal the way a Succubus is supposed to.
“Are you going to join me?” I asked him as he pulled a rag out of the cabinet.
“I want to tell you no because of the letter and the torture of the blowjob earlier but I am going to because you are pretty busted up and I can’t take it,” he said as he dropped his clothes to the floor and climbed in.
He used the rag that he had to wash all the blood off of my hands and arms, then he moved to my chest and started working on all the blood that had come from my face.
“Baby girl, the doctor did everything but your nose… I’m going to have to reset it. It’s going to hurt.”
The look on his face told me that it was going to hurt him way more than it was going to hurt me. I braced myself against the wall as he placed thumbs on either side of my nose. Just resting there his fingers hurt, I could hardly imagine what fixing it was going to feel like. That was the amazing part of what Rida did with all the other breaks, I knew that it hurt but she just laid there and took it, and barely felt anything.
Zilli grimaced as he applied enough pressure to push it back into place. It took everything I had not the scream out, but I didn’t want to make it any harder on Zilli than it already was, Asim helped him and I get through the setting of everything else, but the nose was all on us.
“I’m so sorry,” he said as he placed kisses along my jawline. He trailed them down my collarbone and across my shoulder, he wrapped one of his arms around my lower back. As he moved down my chest, he leaned me back for easier access. As he pulled my nipple into his mouth my breath caught. I could feel the energy coming back to me already.
In one smooth motion, he shut the water off, had us out of the shower, and had my ass on the very cold countertop.
“Listen, this is for healing purposes only and it won’t happen again after this, but I won't see you in pain, and Satan knows this has been killing me anyway,” he said as he buried himself inside of me.
I bit back a very loud moan as he stretched me in a way that hasn’t happened in weeks.
“Oh, how I have missed this!” I moaned into his ear as he pulled out and rammed back into me.
I leaned back into the mirror as he pounded into me at a pace that was crucifying. There was no sweet loving Zilli in him right now. I pulled myself back up and ran my hands up his chest as I capture his mouth with mine, but he leaned away.
“No, you are still being punished for not reading the letter, this isn’t for your pleasure baby girl. You wouldn’t let me touch you earlier and I am not giving you this now.”
I ignored him and tried to pull him to me anyway. He caught both of my wrists in one of his hands and pinned them over my head.
“Seriously. I will tie you up if I have to.” He wasn’t playing with me. Well, two can do that.
“Promise?” I said with a moan.
“Damnit, woman.” He growled as he picked me up.
He carried me into the bedroom without ever pulling out of me. He tossed me onto the bed and walked across the room. I was confused until he removed the tie that he had been wearing earlier and walked back to the bed.
“You are truly going to tie me up?” I asked.
“I am.” He said and then he pulled my hands in front of me and tied them together. I’m not even mad about it. Then he flipped me over, pulled me onto my knees, and slammed back into me with punishing force. He kept his pace rough and fast until I thought my body would fall apart, then he stopped.
I audibly whined.
He started back with slow short thrusts that barely went into me at all. This is cruel and unusual punishment.
“Zilli, please!” I was ready to beg at this point. I am not too proud to admit.
He pushed all the way into me slowly, filling me completely, he returned to the blinding pace, I felt the orgasm in me building, growing so close to breaking. His thrusts got erratic as his body climbed to meet mine. Together we fell over the edge into ecstasy. Moaning each other’s names as we collapsed onto the bed.
Typically, I feel energized after sex, but today I was just exhausted, all of the energy going to healing my wounds rather than making me an energizer bunny.
“Sleep now baby girl, I’ll wake you for dinner in a little bit,” Zilli said as my eyes drifted closed.
Chapter Twenty
Zilli
It wasn’t five minutes and Thea was asleep. This had been the hardest three weeks of my life, emotionally and physically.
Lying in bed with her every night and not being with her even once was torture. She was single-handedly the most teasing person to have ever existed, and what’s worse was she turned this whole no-sex thing into a game. She was constantly wearing short shorts, and the shortest skirts, tight pants that make her curves killer, and that’s nothing compared to the body language; rubbing up against me, teasing me with hands roaming while we are just watching tv, and the Devil himself must have blessed her with that mouth that she has.
Oh, and her mind! The things that this woman comes up with while I am teaching are bad. Well good, but bad. My students have got to be wondering why I am teaching from behind a podium now, though no one has asked. Thank Lilith.
Fucking her tonight let some of that go, and my attempt to make it less enjoyable for her didn’t work.
“She rather enjoyed being tied up,” Asim said happily.
“Yeah, she did. We will table that for another day,” I told him.
Slowly, so as not to wake her, I got out of bed and walked into the living room. Elijah was sitting on the couch, remote in hand, not bothering to hide his erection.
“Did you enjoy yourself, brother?” he asked.
“I could have enjoyed myself more, but I figured I would only give her what she needed.” He gave me a look that said he didn’t believe me.
“What was I supposed to do Elijah? Let her heal the normal way? You didn’t see her! Her leg was broken in two places and her nose was all sorts of crooked, her head was bleeding, her knuckles were all cut up, and that bitch tore out some of her hair!” His face fell as I spoke, maybe I should have left some of that out.
“No, you are right. I didn’t see her. I’m glad that you were there to help her when she needed you,” he told me sadly.
“She will be good as new by morning, but I told her I would wake her up at dinner time,” I said as I sat down on the couch beside him.
We hadn’t been watching TV for five minutes when her apartment door opened roughly. I was expecting it to be Mercy, but it was Ambrose.
“How is she?” he asked. He seemed a little strung out like he had been fighting with himself about whether or not he was going to come and ask that question.
“She’s fine, or she will be by breakfast,” Elijah told him, it seemed to calm him a little bit.
“What are you doing here Ambrose?” I couldn’t help the attitude that it came with. He didn’t give two craps about her this morning, what did it matter now.
“I just had to be sure she was okay.” He dropped his eyes to the ground.
“What does it matter to you? You haven’t given a shit about her since we found her and now all of the sudden you are concerned. That’s bull shit and you know it.” I had no shame in my anger. He had no right to be concerned about her now.
“I never said I didn’t care,” Ambrose whispered.
“You rejected her before you ever met her. You have been avoiding her for two months. You don’t even go to the class that you have with her,” Elijah chimed in.
“I have a good thing with Jessica, mother loves her, and she already knows everything that comes along with being with a Son of Lilith. Why would I throw that away for someone that I might someday love?” Almost everything that Ambrose says pisses me off.
“All you would have to do is know her, and it would be that simple. She is an extremely easy woman to love.” I didn’t mean to say that out loud but it’s out now.
Did you just admit that you love her? Out loud? To other people? Asim was as shocked as I.
“He is right. I loved her from the very first kiss, it’s like I could feel her soul. How it connected with mine. It’s like coming up for fresh air after not being able to breathe your whole life, like a blind man seeing the moon for the first time, or a child hearing his mother sing him a lullaby after being born deaf. She is the piece that I searched my whole life for.”
Wow. I accidentally spit mine out, but clearly, Elijah had thought this through.
“Well, that’s you guys, that doesn’t mean anything to me. Just because she is what you always wanted doesn’t mean that she will be that person for me.” I could see that even he didn’t believe that.
“You don’t know that because you haven’t even had a conversation with her. You have no idea who she is, and yet you come here to check on her and make sure that she is okay after YOUR girlfriend and her friends beat her up?” It was everything I had left to not just yell at him, but I didn’t want to wake up Thea. She needed to rest and heal.
“Jessica isn’t the one that beat her up. She just doesn’t like the fact that Cassandra is hurting in all of this,” Ambrose countered.
“Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me. One, Jessica is the one that ran into her and started the whole thing. Two, Cassandra knew from day one that it was never going to be her and me happily ever after. She’s not hurting, she’s pissed off that she won't be considered royalty. Nothing more. Three, Thea was attacked by all four Elements, which means all of them had to have been involved.” I am very much losing my cool.
“I believe that Jessica is a good person, she always has been, and she’s good for me. Mother loves her and so do I.” Oh, dear Lucifer, he was not letting Lilith have a say in his love life, was he?
“Ambrose, mother would be happy if you are happy right?” He nodded. “And don’t you think she would be happy if you found your one true mate?” He nodded again.
“Actually, you know what, I am not going to stand here and have this conversation with you. You don’t deserve her, and you shouldn’t be here. You have made it very clear that you want nothing to do with our mate, so why don’t you just leave, don’t bother coming back. For that matter, why don’t you just ask Mother Dearest if you can drop out altogether, you don’t need to be here, so why are you?” I have never been so angry at my brother before. I am perfectly fine with never having to share Thea with him, but this would hurt her one day and I didn’t want to see that happen. If he were to disappear from our life, he would never be able to hurt her.
Chapter Twenty-one
Thea
“Did both of them just admit that they are in love with me?” I asked Rida.
“They sure did, and Ambrose is here to check on you? How weird is that?”
“Very weird.” At least she heard them say it too and it wasn’t a dream. I was pretty sure that I woke up when Zilli got out of bed, but it never hurts to check. I stayed in bed hoping that I would go back to sleep, but then Ambrose came in and they started arguing and I couldn’t go back to sleep after that.
“…you don’t need to be here, so why are you?” The words sounded like acid coming out of Zilli’s mouth, he was upset, which seemed to be a pattern where Ambrose is concerned.
The guys were right that I’ve never even had a conversation with him. He avoids me like the plague.
As silently as I could I got out of bed and grabbed Zilli’s shirt off the floor. In retrospect, I probably should have put some more clothes on, but this was faster, and I didn’t want him to leave before I got out there.
“Wait!” I said as Ambrose moved to leave.
His skin looked like porcelain—light, smooth, impeccable. It was the perfect contrast to his black eyes and short brown hair. He wore dark blue jeans and a plain white button-up.
“I should leave,” he said without looking at me.
“Or you could have a conversation with me,” I suggested.
“I don’t think that’s the best idea, you have enough problems without me making them any worse.” He half-turned but still wouldn’t look at me.
“Ambrose,” I said as I put a hand on his arm.
Quicker than I thought was possible he turned and was inches from me. His left hand on my cheek. It was like a lazy Sunday afternoon laying in the sun. Wrapped in warmth—comfort beyond measure. Like coming home to someone you’ve always loved but have been away from for so long. That painful ache in your chest that can only be calmed by their touch. It was that hunger, skin touching, breath mingling, lip caressing. It was the sounds, smells, and touch of home.
I think it’s that he had been so close and yet so far away this whole time that my body was trying to find him and fill in the missing pieces.
“I have to go,” he whispered, and then he was gone.
“I have no idea what just happened. But I’m going back to bed.” I went back into the bedroom and crawled back into bed; I believe I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.
✽✽✽
Someone softly touching my face woke me, but I don’t think that it would have been long before my stomach did that. The smell of chicken alfredo invaded the bedroom. I was fairly sure that I smelled garlic bread as well.
“Love,” Elijah whispered close to my ear. “Dinner is ready.” I rolled over into him and kissed his chest.
“It smells amazing, but I can think of something I would rather have in my mouth,” I said as I pulled him closer.
“Now you know that isn’t going to happen, I don’t know why you keep trying,” he laughed.
“I don’t know why you aren’t giving in; you have been alone for years and you only get sex one time and then you cut me off. You should be careful, might hurt a girl's ego.” I know that I am pouting but honestly, I am still a little sore and I can only imagine what my face looks like.
“Don’t for a second think that this is easy for me. I think about jumping you every time I see you. I am more than a little jealous that Zilli was the one that showed up at the fight earlier. Though if it had been me, I would have taken my time with you.” He kissed me, hard. It was full of so much emotion and longing; it made my heart hurt.
“Let’s go eat,” I said as I rolled out of the bed and got up. I was still wearing the shirt that I had pulled on earlier, I walk to the closet and pulled on a pair of sweatpants. A week ago, shoot even a day ago, I would have gone to dinner in just that, just a little extra teasing for my guys, but Elijah showed me that this is hurting him as well and that’s not fair to them.
“Does that mean that you are going to do what I think you’re going to do?” Rida asked.
“I think it might, but first let's go eat.”
Zilli was already sitting at the table; I sat down at the head of the table. The guys started making me sit there when we agreed to eat dinner together basically every night. I think that it’s because they both wanted to be able to sit next to me, but I never asked because it doesn’t matter.
“This smells amazing.” Zilli was already dishing out food, which I was happy about because now that I was sitting here, I was way hungrier than I thought I was.
We ate in silence, I wanted to break it, but I wasn’t quite sure what to say, and I don’t think the guys did either.
“So… do you want to talk about what happened with Ambrose?” Elijah asked sheepishly.
“Well, I’m not sure what happened. He is my mate, I know that for a fact, but as for what that means to him, I am unsure. He has picked Jessica time and time again. And I am not going to chase someone that doesn’t want me to.”
Both Zilli and Elijah nodded as if agreeing with the fact that I shouldn’t chase him, but it made me question a lot of things.
“Will I always feel like there is an empty space in my soul if I don’t have him?” I asked after a few silent moments.
“I wish I had a good answer for you, but I have no idea,” Zilli said.
“I will do some research, see what I can find.” Elijah pushed away from the table and took his plate to the sink, then he turned toward the door.
