“I wanted to take it slow with you our first time, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to.”

“Don’t let me stop you.” She still had one hand against his neck and urged his face toward her own until their mouths met. Both open, it was easy for her tongue to meet and mate with his. He moved, removing his fingers from her and spreading her legs further apart, but she didn’t protest. Serissa knew he’d replace it with something infinitely better.

His weight covered her, pressing her deeper into the soft mattress. She felt the head of him rubbing along her entrance. He was big. She raised her legs and he placed his arms under her knees to help hold her open wider for him. Serissa lifted as he bore down into her and they both groaned. He pressed into her, stretching her until he filled her completely. Not a sliver to spare. No wasted space between them. Everywhere skin could touch, theirs did.

Then Jax began to move and they found their personal pattern.

Their fight for air as they both inhaled and exhaled, and the slap of his flesh as he pistoned in and out of her were the only sounds filling the room. Yet all it did was take them higher. Her inner core muscles clenched in a futile attempt to hold back the tide pressing against it, forcing its way through her body until she could no more stop her climax than she could stop the sun from rising. Then she came. Her entire body reacted to her orgasm by shuddering against him as she cried his name.

Jax continued to move hard against her, knowing that’s what she needed. Then once she quieted down, his momentum slowed. He lowered her legs so her feet rested near his thighs. With his sex he stroked her gently, same with his tongue, slowly drawing her back to the heights he’d just taken her to and she’d leapt off.

It didn’t take long before she moved harder against him, straining to return to that apex. He grabbed one leg and hooked it under his arm. He raised his head and wrapped his other arm around her shoulder as he increased his pace. She looked into the depths of his eyes, knowing that’s what he needed her to do. She saw the truth of him there. He showed himself to her. His fangs lengthened and a darkness covered his eyes, but within the center there was light. He let her see it all and she smiled as he lost control and released his cum within her. His warmth filled her core, filled her soul, triggering an answering response.

Even as they continued to move, Serissa knew what she had to do. What she wanted to do. She turned her head to offer him her vein.

“Are you sure?” His voice was harsh, not with anger but incredible hunger.

“Goddess, yes. I think whatever Karen did to you makes you have to feed more often.”

“Perhaps, but I can control it.”

“It makes you want to fuck too so I don’t want you controlled.”

He grinned. “Then know this, Serissa. This isn’t fucking.” He ran his hand gently over her hair. “We made love. We belong to each other now.”

He lowered his head and nuzzled her with his nose, and then she felt the swipe of his tongue. “Goddess, that feels good.” She trusted him to only take what he needed, it would help lessen the effect of whatever was in the wine.

“Have no fear. I’ll take good care of you.”

Even though he’d just had an orgasm, Jax continued to move inside her, because he was still hard. She marveled at his stamina but got distracted when she felt the sting of his fangs as it pierced her skin and at the same time he pushed his penis as far as he could fit into her. Her body shivered as he took and gave to her all at the same time. Like white water rapids rushing over the edge, heat rushed through her body, seeking the only way out, and erupted around his cock as he took her blood and gave her himself.

Eventually, they must have stopped having orgasms because she opened her eyes and her head rested on his chest as he stroked her hair.

“Wow,” she said, touching the side of her neck, not feeling any pain, not even a tiny cut on her skin. “What happened?”

His chest rumbled as he laughed. She raised her head to look into the face of this man, this vampire, and thanked the Goddess she’d listened to her friend Avery that day and gone on an interview that turned into an adventure that changed her life.

Their lips had barely touched when she heard a soft click. Jax heard it, too. He placed his finger on her lips before she could say anything. He moved her off him and pulled the covers up over her after he got out of bed. Reaching down, he picked up his pants and quickly got them on. The door to the bedroom was open but they could hear someone enter the suite and shut the door. Serissa sat up, pulling the covers over her breast, already having a good idea of who would be sneaking into Jax’s suite at this hour of the night.

  Chapter Twelve

Jax had taken two steps toward the door when Karen appeared in the doorway. The outer room still had one lamp on, framing the glow of her naked skin, but she froze when she saw Serissa in his bed.

“What the fuck is going on here?” Karen placed her hands on her hips as she faced Serissa.

“I think that’s pretty clear.” When Jax spoke, Karen turned to him and raised her hand as though to touch him but he pulled away.

“Not to me,” Karen said. “What the fuck is Serissa doing in your bed? You want me. You’re in love with me.”

Jax laughed. He couldn’t help it. The look of shock on Karen’s face was priceless. He shook his head. “‘Fraid not Karen. Now be a good girl and turn right around and take your arse back out the same way you came in.”

“No. Wait.” She turned to face the bed and Serissa. “You need to get her out of here and let me explain. I can explain everything and it will make sense.”

The sound of Serissa’s laughter had him turning toward her and winking. She rolled her eyes. “Put some clothes on, for crying out loud,” Serissa said.

Jax moved over to the side of the bed and picked his shirt off the floor, tossing it to Karen. “Here, put this on and get out.”

Karen caught it and held it in front of her. “Wait. No. It’s me you really want. I swear. I know you’re not going to believe this but…but Serissa’s done something to you. She’s turned you against me and toward her somehow.”

“I’d say she’s done something to me and with me,” Jax grinned. “And as soon as you get the hell outta my room, I’m going to have her do it again.”

  “No!” screamed Karen.

“I’ve seriously had enough of you.” Serissa raised her hand and began to chant, slowly she made a fist. The sound was low, musical, but no words he recognized. The other woman opened her mouth but didn’t speak. Karen grabbed at her throat and looked at Serissa, her eyes wide open in fear. Jax couldn’t tell what the spell was Serissa just wove but he smiled at her. He was going to be marrying a powerful witch.

“Listen up and listen well,” Serissa said. “He is mine but I used no spell on him. And if I see you sniffing around what’s mine again and casting spells on him, I will cast one of my own, and not just the harmless temporary loss of your voice. Do you understand?”

  Karen nodded.

“Good. We will see you in the morning.”

“Wait,” Jax said. “Do we have to go through with this? Can’t we just have the final ceremony tomorrow take care of all of this now?”

Serissa frowned. “But that would require…” She stopped in mid-sentence and looked pointedly at Karen.

Jax understood what she was trying to say. It would require him using mind manipulation. The less Karen knew about him the better. “Yes, but they’ve still got a good show.”

“No, let’s finish it.” Serissa gritted her teeth. “It’s the right thing to do. Too many people have invested into the show and want to see the ending.”

He shook his head. “Are you sure?” He put his hands on his hips and raised one to point in Karen’s direction. “Because I have a date with her tomorrow, then one with you after that, and then we have the final ceremony back at the castle.”

“Well, I’m not too crazy about it either.”

“Good. So let me talk to the producers in the morning. I don’t need to do the two dates. I already know who I want. Let me propose to them that they film me having breakfast with you and then lunch with Karen, and then we have the dinner show tomorrow night right here. It’s scheduled for two nights from now but let’s see if it can be done tomorrow. They set up intimate dinners, I go to the room where Karen is, dump her and then go to you. Or just show up for dinner with my choice.”

Serissa smiled. “Okay, if you can convince them.” She raised one eyebrow at him. This time he read her mind, but he got the impression it was only because she wanted him to. Without mind manipulation. He nodded to let her know he understood.

Then she turned toward Karen, who’d remained mute during the exchange. Her gaze still held fear as she watched Serissa. “Nod if you have an antidote to what you gave him.”

The other woman hesitated but nodded.

“I don’t think I need one, Serissa.” He grinned. “I think you cured me.”

“Good, but I want to make sure. So, Karen, tomorrow at lunch you eat your meal, slip Jax the antidote. If you give him anything else I’ll know and you won’t like what will happen. Smile for the camera, and keep your hands to yourself. Later, act shocked and hurt when you lose. Now get the hell out before I forget I’m a white witch. And remember, after tomorrow I do not want to see or hear about you again.”

Karen turned and ran out of the room. They heard the door to the suite shut behind her. Jax turned to Serissa and smiled. “Remind me never to piss you off.”

“Do you have any more witches I need to fight off or secrets you’re keeping from me?”

He shook his head as he moved to sit on the bed. “No, love. You know them all.”

His use of the term ‘love’ had her heart missing a beat. They hadn’t exchanged the words yet, but the emotion was there in his touch, in his eyes, on his lips. “Is your name even really Jax?”

He looked shocked and his aura showed nothing but amusement. “Actually, yes, it is. And I’m also a real, honest to God, Highland Laird. Castle and all.”

  “You’re kidding.”

  “‘Fraid not.”

“Oh, lordy. And do you expect me to become a vampire too?”

“I expect you to be who and whatever you want to be as long as you do it with me.”

“Okay. That’s fair. Just so you know, White Witches have long lives.”

  “How long?”

  She shrugged. “Longer than humans.”

  “That’s good to know.”

  “How old are you, anyway?”

  “Is 500 too old?”

  “Holy shit.”

Smiling, he jumped on the bed and into her waiting arms.

Jax had managed to convince the producers they’d have a better show if they added a twist at the end. They loved the twist within a twist angle, in that Karen came back and he was ready to make a decision sooner rather than later. But he made it more appealing when he told them he’d save them some money because he’d provide the ring.

Jax had called his mother earlier that morning to tell her he didn’t need the serum so soon. Taking Serissa’s blood had cleansed the rest of the concoction Karen had given him. His hunger should be back to normal. However, he was taking no chances, so Declan still needed to come to Glasgow. But he needed something from his Ma and she’d agreed, so Declan would be bringing that any moment now too. Jax stood in the lobby, pacing back and forth, waiting for his brother.

Breakfast earlier that morning with Serissa was wonderful. Lunch, however, was a nightmare. His facial muscles were sore from the fake smile he had to wear for the cameras. The final dinner would start in a few minutes. Both women were taken to their rooms and a private dinner was going to be served there. For one of them it would be dinner for one, the other it would be dinner for two. That woman would be his final choice.

Kevin and Davis had been patient but they had a schedule to keep. They had to make changes to get the setup he wanted for the final show.

Jax glanced up when he heard the door open and there was Declan. The brothers met in the center of the lounge area.

“Yo bro,” Declan said, shaking his brother’s hand while grabbing him around the shoulder with the other to give him a hard hug. “So it’s the real deal, huh?”

Jax grinned. “Yeah, it is. Did you bring it?”

“You know it. Both.” Declan reached into the inside of his leather jacket and took out a small velvet dark red box. “Ma thought it might look better set in this.”

Jax took the box from his brother and opened it. Nestled in the center was a square cut diamond. A ring his father had given to his mother when he’d pledged himself to her over 500 years ago. A ring his mother had given to him for the bride he’d never found, until now. It seemed to wink as it reflected the light from the chandeliers above, the solid gold band just as shiny as the day his mother had first donned it. He couldn’t wait to see it on Serissa’s hand.

“Are we ready?” At the sound of Davis’ voice, Jax spun around to face the producer. “We’re all ready. The women are set up in the rooms.”

“Yep, good to go. Let’s get this party started.”

“Is that the ring?” Davis asked.

“Yeah.” Jax showed it to him.

“I want you to stop in the hallway and open the box stare at it a minute so we can get a close up of it. Beautiful ring. I can see why you wanted to use it.”

Declan hugged his brother once more. “Good luck, man.”

Then Jax followed Davis, who gave him more last minute instructions. Kevin stood beside one of the cameraman. Kevin shook Declan’s hand and Declan remained behind with them.

Jax would walk down the long hallway alone. The cameramen at the other end of the hall, and the camera behind Jax would catch him walking past several doors until he came to one at the end. He paused as he’d been instructed and took the box out of his pocket, opening it so the camera could get a good shot of it for their audience before continuing.

There were two doors. The camera would film him from different angles, pausing before each door before taking the key he had to open one. Both women had given him keycards, he trashed Karen’s but no one knew that. All the producers knew was he’d give the woman behind the door either the good or bad news. No one on the show knew he’d already chosen Serissa. It had always been Serissa. He opened the second door on the right and smiled at the woman who stood there waiting for him. He’d waited a lifetime for her and was more than ready to start the rest of their life together.

  Epilogue

“Happy Anniversary, my love.” At the sound of her husband of two years’ voice, Serissa opened her eyes to a room full of people.

  “Surprise!” Twenty-some people yelled.

At least that’s how many she thought crowded the room, including Kevin from the reality show with his wife and Bridget and her new fiancé. Bridget now worked for Avery and the three friends saw each other any time she made it to the States. She’d wondered why Jax had gotten up earlier that morning and said he had business in New York, and they’d have to spend their anniversary in America. He’d hustled her on the family jet before she’d even had a cup of coffee. Now she knew why.

Serissa turned to him and hugged him. “Oh, you wicked man.” But she loved him so much. She’d been a Sunwalker Witch for about a year now, and she’d never been happier in her life.

Avery managed to reach her first from the crowd of well-wishers. “Happy Anniversary, hon.” They hugged each other. Then Avery hugged Jax, who was still grinning as he remained at his wife’s side. “I’m taking full credit,” Avery continued, hugging her again. “Just think, if I hadn’t dragged you to that audition, you guys would have never met.” This was the second anniversary of the show when he’d asked her to marry him in front of an audience of millions.

Jax turned to her and said, “Maybe, maybe not.” Serissa heard the rest of her husband’s thoughts he sent to her. Someday, somehow I would have found you. My love, my life.
