“I Got a Thing, You Got a Thing, Everybody’s Got a Thing” was an early Funkadelic chant featuring the infectious wah guitar of Funkadelic rhythm guitarist Tawl Ross. The first Funkadelic album had a personnel mixture featuring the Parliafunkadelicment Thang (the five post-1960s Parliaments and the five original Funkadelics) as well as P-Funk mainstay vocalist Pat Lewis and members of the Motown house band. This record ingeniously combines the previously mentioned lineup.

“Loose Booty” was first recorded in the Osmium period, though this is considered the pivotal version. Funkadelic comedian (enviromedian) James Wesley Jackson is heavy in the mix on juice harp. George Clinton delivers a very early rap though not even his first, as several songs predate this (“A Whole Lot of BS” is a notable one, and many could also argue for “Mommy What’s a Funkadelic” and “What Is Soul,” although arguably both are more spoken word than “Loose Booty” or “A Whole Lot of BS,” which are more rapped). The lyrics deal with junkies and other street themes, predating hip-hop’s style as well as its usage of a common subject matter therein.
