During the past week, he had secretly marked Ra’s most pious followers with qi, allowing him to sense the location of their positions at all times. However, it took him some time to sense them if they were too far away. At the same time, he gave a command through telepathy, commanding the hundred orcs underneath him to attack. The orcs didn’t train for long, but it didn’t matter because he had upgraded them using over a billion points. He opened his eyes, trying to guess where Dragon and Ice Queen ran off to. Smirking, he turned towards China, where Ra was currently fighting the Black Dragon guild and whoever came to defend them.

  …..

Southwest of Africa was the island of Madagascar. In one of the cities, there was a house full of men and women. On their forehead was the symbol of the sun, it rotated on their skin, seemingly about to pop out and come to life. They were sitting cross legged on the floor, chanting a name over and over, “Ra, Ra, Ra!”

They chanted in unison as golden light left their body and flew outside the building, disappearing in the sky. These were Ra’s most brainwashed followers, he had spent most of his time converting them. He didn’t want to use them during the battle in China, because if they died he would lose a decent chunk of strength. Suddenly, the door to the house slammed open. A large figure garbed in a black robe entered inside. Their features were masked by a hood covering their face. The followers of Ra stood up and snapped their heads towards the intruder, looking at them warily. One of them approached the intruder and spoke, “What do you think you’re doing?! This is private property!”

The figure was silent. Just as the follower of Ra was about to assault the intruder, the intruder raised his head, a green face appearing from underneath the hood. The follower of Ra paused, shocked at seeing a monster in the city. However, he was strong enough to take care of a measly orc, after all, orcs only had stats around 50. He had fought plenty of them in the challenges. Just as he was about to kill the orc, his eyes widened in pain. He looked down, finding a muscular green arm entering his chest and exiting out the back. He coughed out a mouthful of blood, “Y-yo-”

A wound of this degree wasn’t enough to kill someone on his level, but just before he could respond, Qi exploded from the arm of the intruder. It swept through him, destroying everything in its path, muscles, organs, and finally his brain. His eyes grew dim as his head sunk down, motionless. All of this happened in the blink of an eye.

Just as the followers of Ra became aware they were under assault, the orc rushed towards another one, instantly killing another. The door to the house quietly shut, preventing the massacre that was happening inside be seen.

All over the world, Ra had created hideouts for his most devoted followers. He thought he had hidden them quite well, but unfortunately Mogtar was aware of the Deity path and knew of its weaknesses. The orcs under Mogtar’s command were stationed outside each hideout, waiting for the command to be sent. He wasn’t planning on using them, but since Anubis betrayed him, so be it. All of them entered a hideout and slaughtered all of the followers inside.

  ….

At this time, in the skies above Beijing, the battle seemed hopeless. During the barrage of weapons, Ace had almost been killed multiple times, the worst was when a sword had pierced his heart. Thankfully, he had several high tier healing potions in reserve, and instantly downed one. Unfortunately, his reserve had run out, and he was currently barely hanging on. His qi was low, his mind slow, and his vision foggy. Manipulating gravity continuously took a huge toll on his mind and stamina. The only reason he was still alive was thanks to Vincent. A sustained fight was Vincent’s forte, because he boasted the highest stamina and recovery on the planet. Right now, Vincent stood in front of Ace, covering for him as best he could.

Ra looked at them, inwardly shocked that they had lasted this long. He thought the fight would have been over quite a while ago. He truly wished they would become his followers, but he knew that was never going to happen. He gave a sigh, upset that he had to kill them. All of a sudden, he felt his strength decrease tremendously. It was like he had grown old and weak, unable to summon any strength. Of course, he knew this wasn’t true. It was just that his followers were killed, “Wait…”

A terrifying thought filled his mind. He shook his head, unwilling to believe it, but the thought grew stronger and stronger. He couldn’t dispel it no matter how hard he tried. He closed his eyes as he tried feeling the connection with his followers hidden around the world. However, they weren’t there, they were gone! His eyes became bloodshot as he howled, “Who did this!?”

Vincent narrowed his eyes as he witnessed the golden weapons decrease in power by a significant amount. Their numbers decreased and they grew slow and fragile. As his blood whip met yet another weapon, a shocking sight unfolded before him. The golden weapon was the one that shattered, not his whip! Vincent’s eyes lit up as he turned to look at Ra, finding him to be disheveled. Ra was clutching his head as he howled gibberish at the sky. Vincent noticed that the golden glow surrounding Ra was reduced by 70% compared to before. He looked down at Beijing, wondering how they reduced his devotion so fast. Unable to find the answer, he turned back towards Ra, focusing on the battle. Ace gasped for breath behind him. Ace could barely see, but he sensed the assault stop, “Vincent, you there? What happened?”

Vincent glanced backwards as he responded, “Ra lost a lot of devotion, he’s weak, incredibly weak.”

“Oh?” Ace turned his head towards Ra, but he could only see a blurry figure. However, even he could tell that the golden light surrounding Ra was significantly reduced.

At this time, Ra swiveled his head, looking straight at Vincent and Ace. He pointed his finger at them as he howled, “You! It was you, wasn’t it!”

Vincent shrugged as he took a step forward, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Ra seemed to go insane, his arms flailed around as he screamed, “I’ll kill you!”

The barrage continued, except this time Vincent was able to get closer and closer. Multiple blood whips flew through the air, swatting each golden weapon away. They shattered on impact and dispersed into golden motes of light. As Ra witnessed Vincent destroy weapon after weapon, he felt like his heart was bleeding. Each weapon that was destroyed caused him to take a step backward. As Vincent approached, a feeling surfaced from deep in his mind. It was a feeling that he hadn’t felt in years. He was incredibly familiar with this feeling, it used to whisper to him everyday. Death. Death. Death. Each step that Vincent took caused this feeling to grow stronger and stronger, and eventually, it consumed his entire mind.

As Vincent was just about to reach Ra, Ra turned tail and fled. The barrage stopped as the golden portals closed. Vincent snorted as he flew towards Ra, “You won’t get away!”

Ra screamed in terror, “No, no, I don’t want to die!”

Vincent was like the reaper of death, Ra was too terrified to look behind him. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, “Right, Anubis! Where is Anubis? He’ll sa-”

He was interrupted as a mouthful of blood exited his mouth. He looked down, only to find a hand covered in blood appearing from within his chest. His eyes grew dim as he muttered, “Anubis… where are you? You said you’d protect me, didn’t you?”

Vincent grew angry listening to Ra’s whimpering. He felt the connection with Ra’s blood, and forcibly consumed it all. Ra’s body grew thin and pale, and a moment later, he was like a empty balloon, completely deflated.

  You have gained 190,353,649 points.

Vincent withdrew his arm, causing Ra’s body to fall through the sky. He turned around and flew back to Ace. He took Ace’s arm and put it over his shoulder, carrying his weight. He whispered, “It’s over, he’s dead.”

“Mm, good job.” Ace closed his eyes, he felt like he was about to fall unconscious at any moment, however, his forcibly opened his eyes and said, “What of Dragon and Ice Queen?”

Vincent was just about to connect his mind with Dragon and Ice Queen when he felt two lifeforms with powerful lifeforce enter Beijing. He instantly knew that it was Dragon and Ice Queen, they had probably returned victorious. He held onto Ace as they flew through the sky. A moment later, Dragon and Ice Queen appeared in front of them. Their faces were pale and they gasped for breath, they had clearly put in a lot of effort. Vincent smiled as he informed them, “Ra is dead, Anubis never appeared.”

Sasha was quiet, only turning to look at Dragon. Dragon took a deep breath before looking Vincent in the eye, “We were unable to kill Mogtar.”

“What?” Vincent’s face fell. He had thought they returned after winning, the thought of them losing and fleeing didn’t enter his mind. He didn’t want to consider that possibility.

Dragon quickly informed them of everything that happened after they got knocked into the crater. How Mogtar’s clone killed Anubis, and how he had regained all of his strength instantly. Ace was silent at the side, only quietly listening. Vincent shook once he heard that Mogtar had recovered instantly, “If he can do that multiple times, he’s unbeatable.”

The group fell silent, their thoughts turning hopeless. A moment later, Vincent spoke up, “We should retreat to Northrock, he won’t be able to get past the mana spire.”

Sasha and Dragon nodded, “Right, we should recover and then fight him as a group.”

“No!” Ace shouted. They turned their heads, looking at Ace, wondering why he would disagree.

Vincent shook his head, “Ace… we have to leave them.”

Sasha and Dragon grew confused, unable to understand what Vincent was responding to. Ace’s gaze grew firm as he looked at each of them, “If we bunker up at Northrock, how long will it take us to recover? A few hours at most? Do you know how many people Mogtar can kill in that time? He’ll gain a massive amount of points, becoming even stronger. Can we beat him then?”

Sasha and Dragon shook at the thought, how strong would Mogtar become if nobody defended the cities around the world? Only so many people could fit in Northrock afterall. Dragon clenched his hands as he met Ace’s gaze, “You’re right, I won’t leave my people to be slaughtered.”

“Me neither,” Sasha nodded, “I’ve already lost Moscow, I won’t let anybody else be killed by Mogtar.”

Vincent’s eyes narrowed as he looked at each of them, unable to grasp the feeling they were currently experiencing. He knew the concept of selflessness, but for it to drive them so far, to sacrifice their lives in an all for nothing, was so foreign to him. The thought of Ace dying entered his mind. A feeling of sorrow pierced through his heart, causing his chest to clench in anxiety. He looked over at Ace, his eyes becoming soft as he said, “Okay.”

Suddenly, their heads snapped to the left, spotting a muscular green figure flying towards them. Their faces became solemn as they said in unison, “Mogtar!”

  Chapter 78

Mogtar was surprised, he didn’t expect to find Dragon and Ice Queen here. He thought they would have retreated back to the mana spire he had found earlier. He looked around but was unable to find Ra. He focused his attention on Vincent and Ace, finding them to be disheveled and tired. Their clothes were torn, and blood was stained all over them. They must have put up quite a fight. He asked them, “Is Ra dead?”

“We just killed him,” Vincent responded. He glanced at his companions and shook his head. Their will was strong, but their bodies were unable to follow. All of them except for him were barely hanging on. If they fought Mogtar in their current state, it would be suicide.

“Hm.” Mogtar nodded as he threw Ra to the back of his mind, another enemy that he didn’t have to worry about. He expanded his sensory field, encompassing all four of them. His eyes widened in surprise as he became filled with happiness. He looked straight at Ace and laughed, “Haha, another qi practitioner! You are quite strong too, unfortunately you are like an arrow at the end of its flight. I would have loved to fight against you, but I’m afraid I can’t allow you to recover.”

Ace, Dragon, Ice Queen, and Vincent prepared for combat as soon as the sensory field surrounded them. Vincent was shocked at the size of it, it was at least three to four times larger than Ace’s sensory field. Ace’s face fell as he realized that Mogtar was leagues above him in qi manipulation.

Mogtar could sense their bodies tense up, as well as the resolve that filled them. His face grew solemn as he realized they were prepared to fight to the death. He became filled with respect as he said, “Don’t worry, I don’t plan on slaughtering you humans, only a fool would do that. I will conquer this planet and collectively raise the strength of your species.” He paused, his eyes becoming unfocused as he looked at something they couldn’t see. A moment later, his face became solemn as he looked back at them, “I won’t let this planet be destroyed like mine.”

His words entered their ear and went out the other, they didn’t believe the nonsense a monster like Mogtar spouted. Even if he was telling the truth, it was likely that he would kill anybody who opposed him. They couldn’t afford handing their planet over to someone who would destroy an entire city like it was nothing. However, Dragon felt his will to fight weaken. He knew they stood no chance and were only foolishly putting up a final fight. He muttered quietly, “He isn’t a normal monster, he has a tattoo. I think… he’s actually a living thing, unlike the servants that we know of.”

“A monster that has a tattoo?” His words shocked Ace and Vincent. They were unable to believe it, but once they looked at Mogtar’s hand, they found the familiar black tattoo.

Mogtar became slightly peeved, “Stop calling me a monster, I’m not a soulless creature like the servants that you can hire through the tattoo. I have a soul just like you do.”

His words confused them, “Soulless? Soul?”

Mogtar shook his head, he had forgotten this planet only had the tattoo for three years, they were unaware of many things, “Right, you all are unaware of the terrifying nature that the tattoo has brought. You should be glad, you’ll never get to witness it. Get ready.”

A huge layer of Qi covered Mogtar as he prepared for battle. Vincent could sense the powerful lifeforce inside of Mogtar, it was the most powerful and pure lifeforce he had ever sensed. Even if he didn’t focus on it, it was like a lighthouse, clearly showing its position. He looked at Ace, finding the resolve in Ace’s eyes to only grow stronger. Ace sensed Vincent’s gaze and turned his head. He smiled at Vincent, “Don’t worry, I’m fighting to live, not to die.”

Vincent took off his mask as he gave an honest smile, it wasn’t forced or fake like all of the ones in the past. It was only with Ace that a smile like this could be produced, a genuine, human smile. He said softly, “I’ll leave the fate of the world in your hands.”

“Hm?” Ace frowned, unable to understand what Vincent meant. Suddenly, his eyes widened in surprise as Vincent’s hand pierced through Ace’s chest. He was unable to react in time, both because he never expected Vincent to harm him, and he was too weak to react.

Dragon and Ice Queen were shocked to the core, they knew Ace and Vincent were like brothers. Never would they have expected that Vincent would betray them. Before they could respond, Vincent snapped his head towards them, “I leave my body in your hands. I’ve never done this before, so I don’t know what will happen.”

Vincent closed his eyes, he could sense all of the lifeforce that filled his body. It was powerful, and was what allowed him to live. It gave him strength, vitality, life, everything. He focused on all of it, concentrating it into his chest before pushing it through his arm. It entered his hand and then exited it, entering the body his hand was currently inside. As it left him, he felt his strength weaken.

Conversely, Ace felt strength flow into him, he grew more powerful and his stamina recovered quickly. His eyes widened in surprise as he realized what Vincent was doing, “Vincent, don’t!”

Vincent still wore the same smile as he shook his head, “This is the only way.”

Ace felt his heart break as he watched Vincent’s hair turn grey, then white. Vincent’s body aged extremely quickly. He appeared middle aged, then elderly. His hair left his head and flew into the wind before breaking apart into little pieces. Wrinkles formed all over his body as his back became hunched.

Meanwhile, Ace’s stats were currently rising extremely quickly. He quickly reached his peak state, and then surpassed it.

Ace ignored the holograms that popped up as he watched Vincent close his eyes and fall unconscious. Before Vincent fell through the air, he grabbed onto him and embraced him. Tears formed in his eyes as he whispered, “Leave it to me.”
