Desire: A LitRPG Adventure (Volume 2), page 7
He turned to Sasha, “We must finish this quickly, remember our plan!’
“Mm.” She took a deep breath as her anger faded, a quiet calm replacing it. She took a step back and stood behind Dragon.
His eyes narrowed as he mused, “I’ll just kill the experts of this planet. The other humans will then bend their knee.”
He roared as his skin changed and mutated. It transformed into the black scales that he used during his battle with Ana. It increased his defense by a tremendous amount. Afterwards, he shot towards Dragon and Sasha. A sonic boom was left in his wake!
Chapter 72
Dragon was astonished by the black scales covering Mogtar’s body, but he quickly recovered. After all, it wasn’t that strange of a sight nowadays. He charged forward, his speed surpassing even Mogtar. Strangely, even though he was flying faster, there was no sonic boom left behind him. It was eerily quiet. He roared out, “Sasha!”
“I know!” A blast of frigid cold air blasted outwards from Sasha. Her first move was her strongest, her domain! It swept past Dragon, almost instantly encompassing Mogtar and Dragon. Mogtar shivered as the cold invaded his body. His speed dropped by a notch, but that was it. Now that he was using his main body and the black scales, he was better equipped to deal with Sasha’s domain. At the same time, Dragon didn’t feel anything different. Under Sasha’s delicate control, she only targeted Mogtar.
Mogtar narrowed his eyes as he witnessed Dragon fly even faster than him, “Someone on this planet is faster than me? He must be borrowing stats from his guild members. His abilit-”
His thoughts were interrupted as he felt something invade his sensory domain. It traveled extremely fast as it cut apart his qi. His eyes widened in shock, “What?!”
CLANG!
He was knocked backwards and somersaulted uncontrollably through the air. A moment later, he recovered and turned to look at Dragon. Dragon was standing in the air a few hundred feet in front of Sasha. His arms were folded and he was giving Mogtar a look of disdain.
Mogtar looked down at his shoulder, finding a white mark on a scale. A moment later, the mark disappeared, the scale appearing brand new. His thoughts turned as he recalled everything that happened. Hundreds of abilities filtered through his mind as he tried to figure out which one Dragon was using. After all, if you knew what ability your opponent was using, you’ve won half the battle. His eyes narrowed as he muttered, “It can’t be… wind? I’ve never seen such a terrifying wind user. I could barely sense the mana fluctuations within my sensory field.”
Wind was an elemental ability, which meant it used mana. When mana entered his sensory field, he was able to see it. This was true for Sasha’s ice domain, as he could see thousands of small particles of mana surrounding him. However, for Dragon’s wind magic, he couldn’t see it at all. It was like it was invisible!
At this time, Dragon roared at him, “Is that all you have, Mogtar? Weren’t you just asking for our surrender?!”
“Hm?” Mogtar looked into Dragon’s eyes, noticing his smug demeanor. This little ant was provoking him? Mogtar roared as his sensory field expanded over 10 times larger, “Don’t get cocky, human!”
He flew forward, charging straight towards Dragon. His eyes narrowed as he sensed multiple blades of wind cut through his sensory field. Even though it was destroying his field, it still created blank gaps, allowing him to know that something was coming. He twisted his body, narrowly dodging the blades of wind. Dragon raised his eyebrow at this, “Not bad. However…”
The distance that separated them was a little less than a mile, and that distance could be covered in a matter of seconds. As Mogtar continued to dodge blade after blade, the domain produced by Sasha caused his speed to lower more and more. The closer he got, the stronger it became. At this time, over ten blades of wind were formed and moved in an arc. CLANG!
He was once again knocked backwards. He recovered and looked down at his chest, “Damn!”
A scale was cracked and blood seeped out of the wound. However, a second later the scale recovered. Dragon noticed that his magic was unable to fatally wound Mogtar. He frowned, “A battle of endurance is not what I wanted…”
……
Meanwhile, in the headquarters of the Black Dragon guild, over a hundred magic circles lit up with light. Over a hundred experts appeared from Northrock. Behind Howard, Victor, and Gale each stood fifteen members. The guilds were small in number, but all of them were elites, their stats over 230. Behind Peter were twenty middle aged people, all of them with ages over 60, their stats over 210.
Carter looked over at Clarice and felt an urge to compete against her, “Hey, Clarice, how about we make a bet and see who kills the most? The winner will become the #1 guild in Northrock?”
“Hmph,” She gave a signal towards her guild members and walked off, not even bothering to respond. Her four guild members followed after her, none of them even glanced at Unrivalled.
Carter shook his head as he glanced at his guild members, “She’s a quiet one, ah?”
His guild members shook their heads, “You’re too pushy, boss.”
“Eh?” Carter rubbed the back of his head and laughed it off. His face became solemn as he gave a command, “Let’s go.”
Unrivalled walked in the opposite direction of Phantom. Guts glanced at Ace before picking a random direction and walking off. He unsummoned his shirt, leaving his chest bare for all to see. Multiple long scars were etched into his chest and back, showing that he was a battle hardened warrior. He usually never wore a shirt, but he wore one for the sake of formality during the meeting with the other experts. He summoned a massive greatsword and held it over his shoulder. It was like someone took a massive block of metal and strapped it to a hilt. It was a greatsword that weighed over 200 pounds.
Susan nodded towards Vincent and Ace before walking off. Motes of various colored light followed after her. Her clothes sparkled and glittered.
Elizabeth looked towards Vincent before once again sighing in disappointment. She understood that if she were stronger she would be able to fight alongside her teacher, but alas. Her body dissipated into a puff of black smoke, it traveled through the wall and disappeared.
Vincent and Ace watched as all of the experts dispersed. Ace looked around the empty room and sighed, “Is massacring the followers of Ra the right thing to do?”
They were aware that Ra used mind control magic to forcibly convert people into his followers. One of the citizens of Northrock was in China when a follower of Ra tried to convert him. He resisted it and captured the follower of Ra instead. That was when they learned from Natalie, General Tott’s bodyguard, that Ra used mind control magic.
Vincent gave a long sigh and sat on the ground, preparing to fall asleep, “Well, let’s just let them destroy China and take over the world, shall we?”
Ace didn’t expect such a lackluster response from Vincent. He closed his eyes as he muttered, “You’re right. We have to do this, it’s the only way.”
At this time, a figure entered the room and ran up to them. Vincent stayed on the ground and eyed the new arrival, “You’re the 3rd finger, yes?”
The 3rd finger nodded, “I’m here to inform you if Ra ever appears. Afterall, we have millions of members keeping their eyes peeled.”
“Good. Then let’s get started.” Ace headed in the direction that allowed them to leave the building, he was itching to help.
Vincent shook his head and called out to him, “Ace, we need to be at 100% fighting strength to fight Ra. Stay here and wait.”
Ace slowed to a stop. He understood that Ra would be their greatest foe, and he couldn’t afford to waste any strength. He sighed, “Fine.”
Chapter 73
If Dragon were to look at his territory in Beijing right now, he would be astonished by the millions of red dots. China was currently embroiled in a massive war between millions of superhumans. The buildings, streets, trees, and landscape were being destroyed in reality and in the alternate reality. Beijing was a hotspot as most of the invaders were focusing their attention there. Their target was the headquarters of Black Dragon.
On a street in Beijing, over a hundred dark skinned figures marched in unison. The glowing tattoo of the sun could be seen on each of their foreheads. They waved their hands as different kinds of magic were fired at the buildings surrounding them indiscriminately. A bolt of fire broke through the window of a nearby apartment building. BOOM!
There was an explosion as a figure was blasted outwards from the room. They landed in the center of the street a few stories below with a thud. They screamed in pain as their skin became charred and black. They grasped at their skin only for it to peel off like goo. Horrified, they fainted on the spot. They were able to survive the fall due to their stats being around 60, but the fire magic was still too strong for them to resist completely.
The cult of Ra continued marching along the street. As they passed over the unconscious charred body, they stomped down a little harder. SNAP! The charred person was now a charred corpse. The faces of the cult were unperturbed, like they were stepping on an ant. Their eyes were glazed and hazy.
Ahead of them, a figure appeared from around the corner. A massive greatsword hung over his shoulder as his arm lay lazily around the hilt. Guts casually walked towards the cult of Ra, almost like he was unaware he was in a warzone.
The tattoo of the Sun was shining bright on one of the cultists. He was the leader of this group, and a devout follower of Ra from the beginning. His eyes narrowed as he spotted the figure in front of him, he could feel a beastly aura emanating from Guts. He raised his hand and gave a command, “Fire at will!”
A second later, a barrage of magic was sent towards Guts. He continued to walk as the missiles and bolts of magic blasted into his body. Fire, ice, wind, earth, all types of elemental magic was used. The resulting collision between magic and flesh caused a wave of dust and fire to wash over Guts, obscuring his body within.
The cult leader was amused at the lackadaisical reaction from Guts. The fool just stood there, unaware of their powerful attacks. He let out a chuckle, “It’s too late for regrets, unbeliever. None can stand against the will of Ra and live!”
“Oh ya?” A voice resounded from inside the cloud of fire. The shadow of a figure appeared on the edge of the cloud before stepping out, his bare chest appearing before the cult.
The cult leader’s eyes widened in shock, “Unharmed?!”
Guts continued to walk forwards, his clothes and body unharmed. He let out a yawn, finding the magic to be a bit too weak. He looked straight towards the leader of the cult as he said, “Let’s hurry this up, I need to go back to training after this.”
The cult leader’s heart shook, just as the thought to turn tail and flee entered his mind he froze. A compulsion appeared from within the deepest recesses of his mind. It whispered to him, “Fight! Fight to the death!”
His eyes glazed over and became dim. He looked towards Guts as he screamed shrilly, “Fir-!”
However, during his moment of hesitation, Guts had raised his greatsword with one hand and smashed it down into the street. A massive shockwave shook the street as it split in half. The shockwave smashed into them as their bodies burst apart, all of them were killed instantly. What was strange was that the shockwave was focused in one direction, and not spreading outwards like normal.
Guts was able to control the kinetic energy that was the result of his physical body. When he smashed his weapon against the concrete, the force that his muscles produced traveled alongside the street. He controlled it and sent it towards the cultists. When it reached them, it shot upwards, traveling through their body and destroying them from within. He was able to fully weaponize his massive strength stat.
The elite users of Northrock completely dominated the cultists. They were outmatched in every regard, whether it be stats, abilities, or experience. Beijing would soon be under their control.
At this time, a bright golden light lit up in the sky above Beijing. It was like the sun itself had teleported to the atmosphere of earth. In the center of the light, a figure could be seen standing within, hands clasped behind his back. It would be more correct to say that the light was radiating from the person themself!
Down below, the fighting throughout the city stopped. Everyone looked up towards the blinding light. The users who were defending the city grew quiet, their hearts quivered as they knew who had arrived.
The cultists eyes lit up with reverence as they began to chant one word, over and over, “Ra! RA! RA!”
……
In the headquarters of Black Dragon, everything was calm and quiet. The building was made out of some material foreign to earth. The sounds from the war that were occurring outside were unable to penetrate the building. At this time, Vincent and Ace’s eyes opened simultaneously. A moment later, the 3rd finger called out, “Ra has appeared in the skies above Beijing!”
They stood up and looked at each other, their faces solemn. Turning towards the exit, they prepared to face Ra, their greatest foe yet. The 3rd finger was silent as he watched them leave. He clasped his hands and bowed, whispering to himself, “You are our only hope, good luck!”
Chapter 74
Victor was the leader between the three guild masters run by Northrock city. He was chosen for his ability to stay calm and collected no matter the situation. Victor looked around and found that the users were currently looking up at the bright light in the sky. Shaking his head, he gave a command to all the users in the three guilds through telepathy, “Hurry up and wipe out as many of Ra’s cultists as you can! The more we kill, the weaker he’ll become. Quickly!”
This was the plan they had come up with after figuring out Ra’s intentions. Ace and Vincent were uncertain whether they could fight against Ra and come out ahead. Members from Qi Users United, Magicians United, and Artillery United formed into small groups of three, one from each guild. This allowed them to overcome a variety of obstacles due to the diverse skills each guild brought to the table. Qi Users United held front line warriors who had high stamina and strength, so they could take quite a beating. Magicians United had the most diverse group, they had mages of every element. There were even some who could summon elementals. Elementals were intelligent living creatures formed out of an element.
As the war resumed throughout China, Ace and Vincent flew into the air. They reached the same height as Ra and hovered 1,000 feet in front of him. Their eyes met as Ra spoke, “Greetings, friends from afar. My name is Ra, you two must be Goliath and Demon, yes?”
Ace clenched his hands as he spat, “Friends? You massacre millions for some lofty goal of conquering the world, using mind control magic to do so. I would never be friends with someone like that.”
Vincent was silent at his side, only waiting for the battle to commence. Ra listened quietly as Ace spoke. Afterwards, he shook his head as he spoke, “Ah, we are too different you and I. We’ve lived completely different lives, with you growing up in one of the safest countries in the world. To me, life and death are but common everyday occurrences, nothing too special.”
Ace was calm as he inspected Ra. He couldn’t guess what he went through growing up, but even then, he still couldn’t let Ra continue what he was doing. He responded, “That’s your justification? You murdered millions because death is common to you?”
“Enough,” Ra waved his hand in front of him, “I know you are trying to delay for time. After all, my followers are weak compared to your army.” Ra’s eyes lit up with a golden glow as he continued, “However, I am here.”
Ace’s face became solemn as tension filled the air. He didn’t know how strong Ra was, but to be so confident in facing the world, he had to have enough strength to back it up. Just as he opened his mouth to speak again, Ra shouted, “Silence.”
Ra’s voice melded with the surroundings, becoming one with it. His voice came from every direction, like he was speaking from all around them at once. Ace’s jaw snapped shut as his eyes widened in surprise. He tried to open his mouth to speak, but there seemed to be some force preventing him. Clenching his hands, he utilized his qi to enhance his jaw, directly tearing that force apart. Vincent glanced over at Ace, wondering what happened. Just as Ace was about to telepathically inform Vincent of what happened, Ra shouted out once more, “Kneel.”
Ace and Vincent’s legs suddenly bent as their torso lowered. Their body seemed to have a mind of its own as it listened to Ra’s command. A moment later, they were kneeling to Ra. Ace roared as qi exploded out of his body, crushing the force binding his body apart. He stood back up and looked over at Ra, horrified of what he had just realized. Next to him, Vincent controlled the blood in his body as he forcibly took back command of his body.
