“I’m going to come baby.” And those words seem to spur my own because I feel the familiar tingle in my toes. “I love you so much, beautiful.”

His sweet words coupled with the sinful things he’s doing to me and the vibrator in my pussy pushes me over the edge. “Oh my god, I’m coming,” I moan out. My breath comes out in tiny puffs because the orgasm has made my chest tight and I’m struggling to breathe. I pull out the vibrator when I feel him moving faster in my ass and then I feel him beginning to pulse.

“Fuck fuck fuck me. Right there,” he grits out as his thrusts become harder and his grip tightens on my hips as he pumps into my ass.

My pussy feels like the vibrator is still resting against it the way it still tingles in the wake of my orgasm. He pulls out gently and then I feel his fingers at my asshole rubbing his cum against it and back inside of me.

My arms finally give out and I’m on my stomach. I feel so loose and sexy and high like I’m flying and when my eyes flutter open, he’s lying next to me on his stomach staring at me with a serene smile on his face. “You are so beautiful.”

He moves closer to me and presses a kiss to my forehead before bringing me to rest my head on his chest. He’s on his back now and I’m lying almost completely on top of him as he strokes my back and holds the back of my head. “That was amazing,” I say but I can’t be sure if I slurred my words at all.

“It was. Did I hurt you?”

“I’m okay,” I say, the exhaustion of multiple orgasms and anal sex and a full day on set all hit me at once. I hear him tell me he loves me but I don’t think I even respond before I’m asleep.

The next day, Shay doesn’t have to be on set until noon, so I spend the morning with her before she goes to set. We’re back in her house, and despite her attempts to seduce me, we haven’t had sex and I didn’t join her in the shower. I’m in her kitchen making her breakfast when she comes downstairs wearing leggings and a flowy v-neck top that shows off her perky breasts, making me regret turning down all of her advances. Her wavy hair falls around her and the smile on her face is so blinding and stunning I can’t take my eyes off of her.

  “Hi, beautiful.”

“Are you cooking for me?” She looks up at me and then down at the pan in shock like she can’t believe it.

“Nothing gets by you,” I joke as I flip the bread in the pan.

“It smells so good. I love French toast,” she squeals before plucking a strawberry from the fruit salad I’d put out for her.

  “I know.”

“I didn’t know you could cook. Where has this hidden talent been all this time?” she asks as she sits at her dining room table.

“I don’t cook for anyone,” I tell her.

“Oh, I see. So, this is ‘thank you for letting me stick my dick in your ass’ French toast?” She takes a sip of the orange juice I’d set on the table.

“No this is ‘I love you and I want to take care of you which means feeding you more than the protein bars you eat in the morning’ French Toast.” I crack the eggs on the other skillet knowing that above anything, Shay loves eggs and usually eats them once she gets to set if it’s an option.

She picks at her fruit and I can tell she wants to say something. “You’re so good to me. What did I do to deserve you? Everything you’ve done for me even before we were here. You could be saving the world or protecting a president or something and you’re just looking after little old me.” She gives me a small smile but I can hear the self-deprecation in her tone.

“Protecting you has been the greatest honor of my life, Shay,” I tell her and when my eyes meet hers there are tears in them. “I would do anything for you and the job of keeping you safe is one I take very seriously.”

She cocks her head to the side and puts a hand to her chest. “Damian…”

I finish cooking her eggs the way she likes them and put them on the plate next to her French toast. I set it in front of her and she’s looking at me with those eyes that usually have her naked within seconds. “Don’t look at me like that.”

“You’re just amazing and I hope you know how much I appreciate everything.”

“I do. You let me stick my dick in your ass, remember? That is the highest level of appreciation,” I tease and she rolls her eyes.

“So, I have something I’ve been wanting to talk to you about.” She takes a bite of her eggs. “Aren’t you eating?”

I cross my arms over my chest. “Talk to me.”

“Eat with me, please. I am not going to let you watch me eat.” She points towards the stove. “Oh my god,” she moans as she takes a bite of the French toast. “No offense, but this might be the best thing you’ve ever put in my mouth.” She winks as I get up and turn the stove back on to make more French toast.

“I’ll remember that when you’re begging me to come in your mouth later.”

“Will you though?” she quips and I give her a look.

  “What’s on your mind, baby?”

“Well, I was thinking of having some people over. Like a very lowkey cast thing. We do it a few times a season and I thought I’d host the first one.”

“Mmmhmm,” I say, without looking at her.

“How do you feel about that?”

“What do you mean how do I feel? It’s your house, baby. I feel fine with you having people here. Are you planning to invite people you don’t know?”

“No, and it might just end up being Derek, Jeremy, and Veronica because…I want you to actually have fun. I want to give my bodyguard the night off.”

“I don’t want the night off from being that.”

“Please, D. They don’t really know you aside from being my bodyguard and I would like them to get to know you as my boyfriend. If you’re here, I’m safe and you can let your guard down a little.” She cuts more of her French toast and swirls it through the syrup letting out another moan worthy of porn. “You’re sexy, you have a perfect smile, a big dick, and you can cook. You really are god’s favorite.”

I snort even though I like that she loves these things about me. “Don’t try and butter me up.”

“I’m not. I just want to hang out with my friends…and you? As much as I love spending time alone, there’s going to come a time when you’re going to have to be around people in a social setting. I am going to need a date to the Emmys, you know.”

My eyes snap away from the pan to hers. “The Emmys are in two months.”

  “Correct.” She nods.

I blink at her in confusion. “You want me to go with you?”

“As opposed to the other man who told me he loved me and spends his night fucking me senseless?” she says and though I know it’s a joke, I can hear the irritation in her voice.

“Will you be ready to share this with everyone by then?” I ask pointing back and forth between us.

“Why not? You’re not my dirty little secret, Damian. I said I didn’t want people to know right now because things just ended with Paxton, but in a few months, no one will care. We could even show up on the red carpet for the first time together. Oh my gosh, people will go nuts.” She claps her hands and scrunches her nose in that cute way she does when she wants to get her way with me.

Nerves creep up my spine at the thought of being on the red carpet with her. Smiling and taking pictures and being a part of her world in a way I haven’t been before. “I don’t know about that. I can’t be watching out for everything with cameras flashing in my face.”

“Well, you wouldn’t have to worry about that?” She blinks at me.

“What do you mean by that?”

“Well, I assume at some point you wouldn’t be my bodyguard anymore.”

I give her a look of confusion as I pull the French toast off the pan and place it on a plate. “Run that by me again.”

“Damian, I’m going to need to get another bodyguard at some point. You can’t do this forever.”

  “Says who?”

“Uh, you? You already said it’s complicated being with me and protecting me.” She frowns. “If you think for one second you’re going to break up with me because you would rather protect me than be with me because you don’t trust anyone else, think again. I don’t accept that.”

I move towards the table and sit down at the head of it so we’re seated diagonally from each other and pull her feet into my lap. I hate how well she knows me. If I were stronger, I would. I would tell her that keeping her alive is my number one priority and I don’t trust anyone to do it as well as I can. Would anyone take a bullet for her? Step in front of a car? Push her out of the way of a heavy light fixture that could have killed me just as easily as it could have killed her? You only have one second to make a decision and if there’s any hesitation it could cost Shay her life. I want to tell her that.

  But I can’t.

“I wasn’t suggesting that.” I let out a sigh. “I want to do both, baby. I don’t want to choose between being the man that makes you come and the one that keeps you safe.”

“But…I don’t know how you can do both. You can’t be that arrogant that you think you’re the only man on the planet capable of keeping me safe.”

“It’s different. I have different vested interests in keeping you alive now.”

“I get that, but okay, say we’re still here in five years for instance; I would prefer the father of my children not put himself in harm’s way.”

She can’t be serious. And also, kids? “To save the mother of my children? I absolutely would.”

  “You’re missing the point!”

“So are you.” I shake my head as I cut into the French toast, slightly more irritated than I was before. “It doesn’t matter, even if I’m not officially your bodyguard, if I’m with you socially, I’ll be right next to you and that means anyone trying to fuck with you will need to go through me.”

She sighs and puts her head in her hands. “Okay, let’s just take this one day at a time for now. I would like to have people over tonight and I’d like it if you could hang out with us. Maybe have a drink or two?”

I know this is something Shay is absolutely not going to let go of and here would be the best place to do this. “Fine.”

She squeals and is in my lap instantly, wrapping her arms around my neck and pressing her lips to my neck. “Thank you!”

I tighten my arms around her and reach for her chin, guiding it to my mouth and pressing a kiss to her lips. “Kids?”

A tiny bit of pink tints her cheeks and she rolls her eyes. “Hypothetically speaking.”

I nod, thinking about her round with my child and a baby that looks just like her. My dick hardens thinking about my ring on her finger and I hate thinking about how it would work being with her and also protecting her.

This is why you don’t sleep with your mark and you definitely don’t fall in love with them.

Although the three of them had irritated me the day before, I want to prove a point that Damian is not isolating me, so I invite Veronica, Jeremy, and Derek over for dinner after we’re done shooting for the day. I momentarily think about inviting more people, but Cooper and my team don’t even know about Damian and me yet. I’m not ready to reveal it to some of the cast and crew of LA Dreams before I have a chance to tell them. So, it will be an intimate party of five. I ordered a bunch of takeout from our favorite Thai restaurant and even make my signature gin lemonade.

“Can I help you with anything?” Jeremy comes up behind me and puts his hands on my shoulders as I’m pouring the Pad Thai noodles from the container into one of my serving bowls. Derek and Veronica went to put their stuff in my guest room since they already decided they’re staying over and Damian had gone to his guesthouse for a minute leaving Jeremy and me alone in my kitchen.

“Nope, I’m good.” I move out from under his hands.

I’m still irritated with him and I know he can feel the tension because he’s been trying to talk to me since he got here. I give him a smile to let him know that I’m trying despite what happened yesterday.

“Shay…” he starts, “I’m sorry about yesterday, alright?” He lets out a sigh. “Why are you so pissed? I’m just worried about you.”

“That didn’t feel like worry; it felt like you were inserting your opinion when I didn’t ask for it and being a little judgmental, but I don’t want to talk about it. I invited you over, I just want to squash it.”

“But you’re barely talking to me and everything on set is weird and people are starting to notice.”

“Things are fine. Today was much better than yesterday,” I retort.

He scoffs. “So, that’s it? Five years of friendship and now we’re just polite co-stars? What the hell, Shay? You’re my best friend.”

“You certainly didn’t act like it yesterday.”

The sound of a throat clearing stops our conversation and I see Damian in the entrance to the kitchen. I know I should have told him about what prompted this get-together but I was hoping it wouldn’t come up. I assumed the three of them wouldn’t bring it up around him and I surely wasn’t going to. I smile when I take in the fact that he changed into black jeans and a black t-shirt that makes him look sexy as fuck.

“Hi.” I move to him instantly and wrap my arms around him. He does the same, resting his hands on my ass and squeezing it. I’m wearing a black strapless midi dress that highlights my waist and flares out slightly and I’m relishing over how well we match.

“Everything good?” he murmurs against my lips and I nod.

“Now that you’re here, yes.” I look up at him and I notice he’s looking over my head at Jeremy.

“Hey,” I say to get his attention and he looks back down at me. I pucker my lips and he takes them instantly, dragging his hands away from my ass to cup my face and kisses me deeply, working his tongue into my mouth and touching mine gently.

  God, he can kiss.

A cat call breaks through our kiss as Veronica and Derek enter the kitchen and I pull away with a dramatic eye roll.

“Let’s eat, I’m starving,” Derek says and we carry the rest of the food to the terrace where we’re having dinner. It’s a comfortable summer night and I thought eating outside would cut through some of the tension. Except Damian and I are sitting on one side of the table while Veronica, Derek, and Jeremy sit on the other and it kind of feels like a setup for an interview or an interrogation.

We eat in a somewhat comfortable silence even though I can’t remember a time when the four of us didn’t have a million things to talk about. I look across the table and when I see they’re all looking down at their plates, I’m annoyed all over again. Veronica looks up and catches my eye. Over ten years of friendship allow us to speak pretty easily with our eyes and I give her a look telling her to say something.

What do you want me to do?

  Anything!

She rolls her eyes. “So, Damian, what are your intentions with our Shay here?” She flutters her eyelashes and gives him a cheesy smile with her hands under her chin.

I choke on my drink and give her my middle finger while I’m trying to get the alcohol down my throat. Damian rubs my back instantly and hands me a glass of water that I take a small sip of. “Veronica!”

“What?” she asks with a look that says what did I do? “It’s a valid question. It’s what Mrs. E would have asked,” she says referring to my mother.

I glare at her. “Okay well, Mom, can you not?”

“I love Shay very much,” Damian says and I snap my head towards him, not expecting him to respond or to say that. “My intentions with her are to give her whatever she wants. To make her happy. I spent a very long time trying to deny my feelings for her and I don’t want to do that anymore.”

Veronica’s eyes snap to mine full of excitement and like she’s already thinking about where we are going for my bachelorette party.

  SHUT UP!

  I know! I smile.

She turns her gaze back to Damian. “That is…so sweet.” She sighs dreamily before turning to Derek. “Why don’t you say cute stuff like that to me?”

“Don’t start,” he says, wiping his mouth with a napkin. “You laugh whenever I try to do anything romantic and then just try and get in my pants.”

“How is this going to work though?” Jeremy interjects and Veronica and Derek both turn their previously humorous gazes to him. They both frown just as Damian and I turn to him.

“What?” I ask, already annoyed at where this conversation is headed.

“I mean, you have to understand how hard it will be for him to be both?”

“Jeremy, we talked about this,” Veronica says, and I hate that there’s a conversation that the three of them have had about me and my relationship. “We aren’t doing this again.”

Damian shifts uncomfortably next to me and I hate that he’s probably piecing together that there’s already been one conversation regarding us that he knows nothing about.

“Does Cooper even know? Your PR team? How are you spinning this story exactly? Aren’t you worried that people are going to think you’ve been together this whole time? That you were cheating on Paxton?”

“No. People decide to date people that they’ve known for a while all the time. I didn’t cheat on Paxton.”

“You can’t be so naive that you think people will just buy that nothing was going on while you were with Paxton,” Jeremy argues.

“I don’t think it’s really your business what goes on between us personally or professionally,” Damian adds and I wince thinking about how the rest of this evening is going to go.

“I’ve known Shay just as long as you have, actually a bit longer.” I roll my eyes internally at the juvenile thinking. “She’s my friend and I care about her.”

  “And I don’t? You’re her friend. I’m her man, there’s a difference.”

Veronica’s eyes widen and looks at me with a grin she’s trying to hide because she lives for that caveman attitude.
