“I love you,” she repeated, slowly easing herself lower until I was fully inside her. I couldn’t take my eyes from hers, as much as I wanted to look at every inch of her and remember this image for the rest of my life.
Bryar began to move, and while I left my hands on her waist, I didn’t attempt to control her rhythm. Like I did the first few times we kissed, I wanted her to set the pace. That way, I knew I wasn’t hurting her.
“Babe,” I groaned when she quickened her movement then stopped. She put her hands on my chest. Her eyes hadn’t left mine, and even though she’d stilled, I knew she was okay. We were okay. I moved my hands to her hips, tightened my grip, and began moving inside her. We had waited so long for this, both of us. I knew neither of us would last. We had all day to make love again and again until we were both spent.
Now, I needed to see her face at the moment we both climaxed together.
“Harder,” she cried.
I thrust my hips to give her what she wanted, and moments later, when her pussy clenched and a tear ran down her smiling face, I shuddered my release right along with hers.

Less than a week later, Doc flew our friends and my family in as a surprise to Bryar and me. We’d planned a ceremony—just the two of us, Doc, Merrigan, Laird, and Sorcha—at a gazebo on the ranch with views that stretched from the rolling hills of wine country all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Instead, we were surrounded by people who loved us.
Doc took me aside at one point to tell me he’d spoken with Bryar ahead of time, asking if she wanted him to make arrangements for her aunt and uncle to be here. She told him she didn’t. The only people she’d specifically mentioned were Swan, Wasp, Mayhem, and Admiral, and he’d assured her they’d be in attendance.
I was getting ready to walk outside to the golf cart that waited to take Ranger and me to the other side of the ranch when I heard a knock on the door. I opened it and invited Maisie inside.
“Bryar needs to talk to you.”
I tried not to panic. “Is she okay?”
“She’s fine. She just said there’s something she had to tell you before the ceremony. She’s in the main residence, waiting for you.”
I rushed out and over to the house that was only a few steps from the cottage. I saw Bryar waiting for me on the front porch. She was alone.
“Maisie said there was something you needed to tell me.”
She nodded. If she didn’t look so serious, I would have teased her about it being bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding, but this clearly wasn’t the time to make jokes. “You look so beautiful, by the way.” Her dress was simple but perfect. Her long hair fell around her shoulders, and she wore a wreath of flowers.
I walked over to the porch swing and pulled her onto my lap.
“Go ahead, Bryar. Whatever it is you need to tell me, I’m listening.”
“It’s about Mayhem and me. Something that happened in our past that you need to know. I can’t marry you with secrets between us.”
I wanted to say that whatever it was, she didn’t have to tell me, but this was important to her, so I waited.
“When I was a teenager, I spent a summer in Greece with my family. That’s where Mayhem and I met. Neither of us realized our parents knew each other…”
When she finished her story, I kissed away her tears. “I will keep your secret forever, Bryar. You can trust me.”
“I know I can.”
“Let’s get married now.”
She smiled, hugged me tight, and whispered how much she loved me.
Instead of riding over to the gazebo with Ranger and Maisie, Bryar and I waited and rode by ourselves. I held her hand, and instead of walking down the aisle and waiting for her to do the same, we walked together to the place where Doc, an ordained minister along with everything else the man did, pronounced us man and wife, and I kissed my bride, my wife, my life.

WASP
As an F18 fighter pilot, I’m the best in the business. No fear. No hesitation. Attacking when you least expect it.
That’s why I can’t sit by when the woman I crave, the woman who challenges me, wants to go undercover against a serial killer. No chance.
SWAN
It’s the only option, the only plan that’ll work. Infiltrate the enemy and take them down once and for all. I’m an RAF fighter pilot and M16 agent, sitting still is not who I am. But WASP has other plans. Plans to protect me, keep me safe. When I do what I want, it’s WASP who feels the sting.

Swan
Why in the hell hadn’t I just listened to Wasp? I should’ve known his premonition wasn’t just paranoia. He wasn’t like that. The man was as cool under pressure as anyone I’d ever known. He’d sworn to me something would go terribly wrong if I insisted on offering myself as bait in order to catch the serial killer who had taken four lives in a matter of months within the small Adirondack State Park region.
While he and I had trained with different branches of military service—in different countries—we’d both learned that listening to our gut, our instincts, was paramount to survival. I’d been so hellbent on what I wanted to do, felt like I needed to do, that I ignored him every time he tried to tell me that, in his gut, he knew something was going to go terribly wrong.
If I’d been honest, I would’ve admitted mine was saying the same thing. Instead, I’d been stubborn, intransigent, and refused to listen to myself or him.
And now, I’d gotten what I wanted. The kidnapper took the bait, all right. Except instead of abducting me, they’d taken him.
My beloved Wasp, who’d only wanted my safety. Only asked that I heed his concerns. Every time I’d told him it was my life and my decision, he’d begged me not to go through with it.
Now, my life was shattered to pieces, but it hadn’t been my decision. It hadn’t been his either, yet he was the one who would suffer the consequences of something he’d never wanted to be a part of.
I had to find him. Had to save him. Even if it meant dying myself so he could live.
