Swimming Beside Me, page 8
“That’s bull,” AJ said. “You’re just afraid your girlfriend is going to beat you.”
I loved hearing Alex being referred to as my girlfriend. It was music to my ears.
“In all fairness, it is hard to swim on a full stomach,” Alex said, always coming to my rescue.
“You two are insufferable,” Kris said, rolling her eyes.
“Do you even know what that means?” Katie asked.
“Just because I got an awful score on the SAT’s does not mean I’m dumb,” Kris said.
“Yeah, she just acts dumb,” Jeff said, smiling at us.
Kris smacked Jeff. “Babe!”
“Ouch! I was kidding.”
Kris and Jeff were dating now. For four months, actually. That was a record for Kris.
“Alright, we’re playing the game now,” AJ yelled. “Everyone in the pool, full stomach or not.”
Alex and I held back while everyone jumped into Alex’s pool.
“You going to be okay to swim?” Alex asked.
“Yeah, I’m sure I can mange to play Marco Polo on a full stomach.”
Alex grinned at me. I would never get tired of the feeling I got whenever Alex smiled at me.
“I love you,” Alex said.
“I love you too.”
“And I am a better swimmer than you.”
“Yeah, okay, Blake. We’ll see.”
We grabbed hands and jumped into the water.
Life was full of trials. It could be hard and messy. That’s why we all needed love. Alex’s love for me got me through so much and I knew it would get me through so much more. No matter what life threw my way, I could get through it, because I had Alex swimming right beside me.
Thanks for Reading!
I would be so grateful if you could take a few minutes to review this book on Amazon. Not only will it help others to determine if this is a book they might be interested in, but it will also help me to make improvements on any of my future books.
