If he had time this trip, he was going to take her ass again. She’d responded so well, taken him like a champ, and in turn haunted his dreams with the feel of her body pulsing around his shaft as she milked him dry.

His fingers spread her lips wide, and he blew cold air on her pink flesh as it glistened wet with her arousal. The scent of her again hit him like a roundhouse kick to the temple, and suddenly he couldn’t do any more teasing. He had to have her. He was starved. Had been starved for a year. No woman came close to Silver; he needed her now.

With the ferocity of a famished beast, he dove in, sucking hard on her clit until the gasp above him and her bucking hips told him she was still just as responsive as ever. Her hands landed in his hair, and she raked her nails along his scalp, pushing him harder into her mound. He obliged gladly and drew her clit deeper into his mouth, sucking before swirling his tongue around the sensitive bud. She bucked harder, her whole pelvis lifting off the bed and pressing into his face. He hadn’t bothered to shave for the last few days, so releasing her clit from his lips, he pulled away and ran his beard up through her cleft, giving it a small twirl right over her hood. Her hips jerked even higher off the bed, and he chuckled.

  “You like the beard.”

  “Fuck. Yes. More.”

He did it again, and her fingers bunched in his hair, pulling on the ends until a dull but satisfying ache pulsed down his spine. Bringing one hand up, he probed her center, checking to see how wet she was. Surprisingly, especially since last time she’d been like a goddamn swimming pool, she wasn’t as wet as he thought. Spitting on his fingers, he rubbed them around her cleft before trailing them down her backside and between her cheeks. She lifted her hips up a bit to help him. Oh yes, his little angel had totally embraced the ass play. Hadn’t taken too much convincing. Hadn’t taken any convincing at all. He chuckled again and pressed just slightly against her tight hole. She pushed out immediately to welcome him.

His tongue found her clit again, and he continued on with the sweeps and glides, mixing it up with the odd twirl. Two fingers pushed into her channel, and he immediately went for her G-spot. She clenched around him and shamelessly pushed into his mouth, forcing his fingers deeper insider of her. She was taking, just like before, and he was more than willing to give.

Her clit swelled against his tongue as her bucking grew more and more erratic and desperate. She was close. Fuck, he was close. He’d been fantasizing about taking her like this again for so long, he was going to blow a load in his pants soon just from tasting her.

His fingers pressed up harder on her G-spot. He crooked the finger in her ass, swirled his tongue, and she let go. Silver’s upper body lurched off the bed, and she used her fingers in his hair to pull herself up. Pain sprinted down his back again, but he didn’t care. He loved how wild she became, how she was truly able to just let go when they were together. Her body rippled around him as the orgasm—a big one—took her to the top of the mountain. She groaned and swore and panted out his name as if possessed. Only he was the one under a spell.

When she finally started to come back down, she released her grasp on his hair and slumped back down onto the bed, her eyes shutting at the same time. Warren pushed himself up to standing, gently removing his fingers from her body. He walked to the bathroom and was back in seconds. She hadn’t moved. Her eyes were still closed, and her arms spread out on either side of her body like a starfish. Was she breathing?

Chuckling, he shucked his jeans and boxers before covering her body with his. Only then did she bother to open her eyes. Her skin was a rosy pink, and he bent down and ran his tongue up the length of her warm neck. Her pulse beat quick beneath his lips.

“I’m clean, just so you know,” he murmured. “You on the pill, yet?”

  “No,” she whinged quietly.

  He lifted his head. “No?”

  She shook her head. “No.”

Damn it. He had a box of rubbers in his bag, but he was kind of hoping he wouldn’t have to use them this time. But he’d take what he could get. Silver wrapped around his cock, even with a piece of latex between them, was better than no Silver at all. He shrugged off the disappointment and flashed her a big smile. “No worries, angel. Gimme a sec.”

He pushed himself up off her and walked three strides to his suitcase. He was covered and back in a flash, scooping her up and tossing her into the middle of the bed. She squealed and giggled, making his balls tighten. He needed to sink down into her sweetness now, otherwise he was going to explode.

Hovering above her, he gazed down into her eyes. “I’ve fucking missed you.” Then he slammed home, sinking balls deep and hitting the end of her.

“Oh God,” she groaned. Her hips lifted again to join him as he pumped hard and swiftly into her. He wouldn’t last long. As much as he wanted the moment to last, to savor finally being inside Silver again, the anticipation, the buildup was too much. She’d haunted his dreams for months, fueled his fantasies. And now, finally, once again she was a reality. She squeezed her heat around him as he slid back out, her nails raking down his back.

  Yes, more pain.

His eyes found hers, and what stared back at him was pure need. A fierce need that mirrored his own. His mouth crashed down on hers, and his tongue plunged inside. He set a pace, his hips and tongue pumping in tandem, fucking her hard. She groaned against his mouth and clenched around his cock. She wasn’t going to last long, either. Thank God. But they had all night. He wasn’t too concerned.

Warren pulled his mouth from Silver’s and let it fall to her shoulder. His teeth clamped down as his bucking picked up fervor.

“Fuck, angel.” He growled, her flesh still in his mouth. “I’m coming. Too fucking good. So fucking tight.”

She tightened around him, dug her nails into his ass, tossed her head back and cried out, “Me too.”

  Chapter nine

  Silver

Silver hated lying to Warren. Hated every goddamn minute of it. But now wasn’t the time to tell him. No. She’d had four orgasms in the last hour and hoped for a least one more before she left. Plus, after the sleuthing she’d done these past few months, she’d been seeing him again soon. Sooner than soon. Like tomorrow soon.

No, she needed tonight. They needed tonight. Just one night of passion, of pleasure, where they could be the people they were one year ago without any stress. Any secrets. Because as soon as he found out her secret, shit was going to hit the fan. Warren would probably hate her forever, and any chance they had at repeating tonight would be gone forever.

One night. That’s all she wanted. Just one night to be the old Silver. She hadn’t been reckless for long. Just those three days with Warren, but for the past year she’d missed that side of herself, and for one night, she wanted that part back.

“What ya thinkin’ about?” Warren asked with a yawn, wandering back into the bedroom, a tray of room service from the bar in his arms. “That’s a pretty pensive look for someone who was just fucked to within an inch of her sanity. I’m pretty sure you were cursing in another language during that last orgasm.”

She grinned, watching him slide his sexy frame onto the bed. “Your skills will do that. I’m not sure what language it was, but I don’t think it was English.”

Unlike Silver, who’d changed a whole hell of a lot over the past year, Warren was still as dead sexy as always. Dark hair with that ever-popular long swooshy thing on top, unfathomably deep blue eyes that held a mischievous twinkle to them, even when he was being serious. He’d been the star of her dreams for a year. Even her daydreams were often full of him. And now here he was again, making her feel things she didn’t think she’d ever get to feel again.

She’d wondered over the months following their tryst if she’d manufactured her feelings for him, a sort of Romeo and Juliet syndrome, if you will. Only their time together had been a bit more than words and stolen glances across a crowded room. Even still, it hadn’t been a long time. Only three nights and two and a half days. But in that time, he’d changed her. Helped her. Healed her. When they weren’t having sex, they were talking and laughing, watching movies or swimming in the rooftop pool. Warren had given her the honeymoon she had deserved. Instead of two glorious weeks in the Greek Isles, it was three nights in a swanky hotel room. But those three nights had given her more than she ever could’ve dreamed. They gave her new hope for a better future, a better Silver. And she’d like to think that she was a better person because of Warren. She put herself first a bit more and didn’t allow others to walk all over her as much as she had in the past.

She knew her confidence and maturity came from other things as well, but she believed Warren was the root of it. She just hoped that she hadn’t exaggerated their chemistry. Blown it out of proportion or built something up that wasn’t there. But seeing him now confirmed it. She hadn’t made anything up. Her feelings were real. The chemistry, the connection all real. Even after a year apart, she still knew that given the chance, she could easily love this man ... if she didn’t already.

Warren pulled the warming cover off the plate on the tray to reveal poutine. She started to laugh. They’d ordered it from the bar that first night and never ended up eating it. They’d been too caught up in each other, and by the time they remembered it, it had sat in the fridge for two days, and the fries resembled limp noodles.

“I thought we’d try again with the poutine,” he said, passing her a tall glass of water. “Seeing as last time we were otherwise occupied with other things in our mouths.”

Heat flooded her belly and crept up her chest. Her breasts were beginning to grow tender; she’d have to leave soon. She wouldn’t last much longer before the pain set in.

“Sounds like a plan.” She picked up a fry coated in gravy and melted curd and popped it into her mouth.

“So, Silver Noel Belle,” Warren started, taking a sip of his root beer, “what have you been up to this past year?”

Well, that was a loaded question if she’d ever heard one. Crap. She really didn’t want to lie. But she’d promised herself one night, and then she’d come clean and let him hate her. One night where he didn’t despise her and instead wanted to spend hours with his face between her legs. One night.

She shrugged. “Not much. Just worked. Rebuilt my life after the breakup. Lost friends, found some new ones. Moved into a new apartment. It’s closer to my dad’s place, which is nice.”

He nodded, popping a fry into his mouth. “Did you end up going to your family’s cottage last summer for some R&R?”

“I did.” That reminded her. She snapped her fingers and leaped off the bed. Warren had put the root beer in the fridge and the green plastic bag on the counter. She grabbed the bag and met him back in the bedroom.

“You look so sexy in my shirt,” he said, his eyes climbing her as she slid back onto the bed. She’d grabbed his baby blue long-sleeved button-down shirt and slipped it on. Not that she was necessarily ashamed of her new body, but he’d stolen her underwear, and she preferred to wear more than just her bra. Just in case.

She handed him the green bag. “Here you go.”

He lifted a sexy eyebrow as he accepted the bag. “Gifts?”

She grinned at him. “I’m not sure it’s a gift when someone tells you to do it for them.”

He pulled the object out of the bag. It was wrapped heavily in blank newsprint paper. He unfurled the paper to reveal a silvery gray and dark blue marbled pottery bowl. When she’d glazed it last summer, all she could think of, all she could see were Warren’s eyes. Dark and swirling, like a vortex she was more than willing to get lost in. But he’d asked for silver, so she compromised. “It’s the key bowl you asked for. Said you’d pick it up next time you were in town. It’s okay if you forgot the Vegemite. Can’t say I’m excited to try the stuff anyway.”

He chuckled softly as he examined the bowl with his strong hands. It was a nice size bowl, but in his big, capable palms, it looked like a teacup. “I brought some Vegemite. Mostly for me mum, but you can have one too.” His eyes found hers. “You made this?” he asked, awe in his tone. He ran his fingers over the shiny glaze. “It’s beautiful.”

She shrugged, embarrassed by his compliment. She’d never met a man who gave them so freely. “I mean, it’s not my best work, but I tried something new with the edges and put on a funky glaze.”

He lifted his gaze from the bowl and pinned it on her. “Don’t sell yourself short, Silver. This is incredible. Thank you.” He turned it over to find her initials and the year carved into the bottom. “How much would something like this retail for? Could you do this as a side business? It’s really good.”

She bit back a scoff. Yeah, like she had time for hobbies these days. But his flattery stirred more heat in her abdomen, and she rolled her bottom lip between her teeth. “If I were a professional, which I’m not, if it was done a little bit better, I’m sure Calvin would charge about thirty-five or forty dollars for a piece this size. Though I used a fancy glaze, so maybe fifty with the glaze.”

“I guess I need to think about settling down and getting a place so I can find a home for this bowl. Front and center right by the main door.”

Silver popped another fry into her mouth. “Where are you living, then?”

Please don’t say “with my girlfriend.”

He laid the bowl down on the duvet and picked a fry up off the plate. “We’re building some bungalows on some property … well, more like out on the ocean off the property we own. So, I’ve been staying in one of those. We built one. I moved in. Now we’re building more.” He licked gravy off his thumb, and Silver’s insides tightened.

She glanced at the clock on his nightstand. Crap, it was nearly eleven. She needed to get back. So much for another orgasm. So much for any more orgasms probably ever. At least from Warren McAllister. Old Trusty, her hot pink vibrator, would have to do the trick for the foreseeable future. He’d been a tried and true boyfriend for this past year as it was. Never let her down.

Reluctance stabbed her hard in the belly as she swallowed down her fear and took a sip of her water. Warren was happily munching on fries.

“All right, well, I’m sold, woman. Poutine is delicious. I will admit I was skeptical. Thought you might have been off your rocker, but it’s fucking ripper.” He shoved a couple more fries into his mouth. “Need to refuel. You drained me. Might have to wait an hour or two before I can go again.” He washed it all down with root beer. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t take care of you.”

She squirmed where she sat from the look he was giving her. The man could turn her into a puddle just by looking at her. She couldn’t hold his gaze, though. Not with all the secrets she was keeping. “I, uh … I can’t stay. I’m probably going to have to go soon.”

“What?” He practically choked and had to take another drink just to swallow. “You’re not spending the night?”

She shook her head, although it was a challenge to do so. She’d give anything to have one night with Warren. Anything. “I really can’t. I’m sorry. Busy morning, up before dawn. I need to help my dad.”

“With what?” He didn’t believe her. She saw it in his eyes.

Her fingers knitted together in her lap. “He’s, uh … getting married.”

His face brightened. “Oh cool. Me mum’s getting married, too. That’s why I’m back. You have a date for your dad’s wedding?”

  No.

  She nodded anyway. “Yeah.”

“Oh, bummer. I don’t have a date to me mum’s. But she said it’s small, so I’m not sure I’m allowed one anyway. If I asked her and you’re available, would you want to come?”

Silver bit the inside of her cheek until she tasted blood. One night. She wanted just one night. Then no more lies. She simply nodded. “Sure. Text me and let me know.” She reached for her shorts off the floor. “But I think I need to run. It’s going to be at least a thirty-minute drive home, maybe longer if traffic’s bad or there’s an accident.”

Warren’s face fell, his cheeks puffy with more fries. “You’re leaving already?”

She slipped her shorts on, even though she didn’t have any panties. She wanted to ask if she could keep his shirt. As a memento of simpler times. But thought better of it and went to unbutton it.

His hand on hers stopped her. “Keep it. It looks better on you, and I’ve got loads. Probably too hot of weather for a long-sleeved thing like that anyway. I need to make room in my bag for this bowl and root beer.”

Silver giggled as she slid into her sandals. “Thanks.”

Warren stood up. “Thank you for coming over. I know I’ve said it like a million times tonight, but I really have missed you.”

God, I’ve missed you. More than you will ever know.

He tilted her chin up with his knuckle. “I’ll see you again, right? This can’t be our last time?”

She glanced up at him beneath her lashes. “It’s not our last time.”

  “You promise?”

  You have no idea.

  She nodded.

“Because I tried to make the sex dynamite so you wouldn’t blow me off, but would instead blow me. Did it work?”

She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his before pulling away. “It was explosive.” Then she took his hand and led him to the door.

“I’ll text you when I know what me mum says,” he murmured, brushing her hair off her shoulder, bending down and planting a kiss on her neck. She closed her eyes and moved into him. God, he was making it impossible to leave. Her breasts ached inside her bra and pressed hard against the shirt. As badly as she wanted to stay, she just couldn’t. She had to get home.

Her hand fell to his tanned, broad chest. “This has been amazing. Thank you for calling. I’ve missed you, too.”

He nuzzled her neck once more before pulling away. “I should’ve texted you or called you this past year.”
