A Cruel Confession, page 20
“If that is true...” I tighten my hand around the keyring and smile up at him. “You will stay here with me forever.”
His lips tug higher and my heart flips. “That is a very enticing proposition.” He pulls me closer to him and I willingly go. His shaft grows hard again. “How about we stay here for a while longer.” He opens my hand and entwines our fingers. His eyes lock on the keyring.
“I really like the sound of that.”
His eyes darken with a hunger I’m ready to feed.
“I wish Ella O’Leary would marry me.”
My heart feels like it’s ready to explode in my chest. His dark eyes are so light and I watch the gold flecks swirl and dance.
“I wish Ella O’Leary would marry me.” I echo back and his smile would conquer nations and stop wars.
He is everything.
He is mine.
CHAPTER THIRTY – TWO
-LUCAS (EPILOGUE)
I can’t take my eyes off Ella as she smiles from Hannah to Jessie. They group together as I flip another burger.
“We make a great team.”
I flick a glance at Alex and smirk at him. “I wouldn’t go that far.”
He sips from his bottle as he looks at the committee members. He’s nervous and his eyes still look haunted after all that transpired.
“Thank you for agreeing to this,” I say while flipping the burger again. I had never personally barbequed before, but this experience was a first for Ella. She had seen it on TV and had thought it looked fun. She looks up at me as if she can feel my eyes on her. Her green eyes sparkle and I know how lucky I am.
“Honestly, I had nothing better to do.”
I laugh at Alex and he steps away and joins his father at the table. He is now part of the committee.
“Shall I take over, so everything isn’t burnt?” George arrives and I’m quick to hand him the tongs.
I don’t meet my mother’s eyes as she seeks me out. She refocuses on Aine and Sean, but I catch the sadness in her eyes. I get it, but I’m not ready yet.
I pull Ella close to me and kiss her gently. “I can barely concentrate when you keep looking at me,” I tell her.
She laughs and so does Hannah. “I did nothing.” Her smile is wide.
I kiss her again. “You’re here, so that’s distracting.”
“Shall I leave?” She pretends to walk away.
I pull her back. “Never.”
She exhales loudly and leans into me.
“I’d tell you to get a room, only you would, and we wouldn’t see you again.” Hannah teases and Ella sticks out her small pink tongue at her. My mind goes south and I drag it back.
I meet Ella’s mother’s eye. She’s seated with the committee members, she’s only here because she is Ella’s mother. Otherwise she would never be in my company. I will never forgive her for giving up on Ella.
“Do you want to tell everyone?” I ask Ella and her smile is nervous.
“You tell them.” She didn’t like public speaking.
I turn her towards everyone.
“We have an announcement to make.”
Aine raises a brow and I can see it on her and my mother’s face. Don’t tell us she’s pregnant.
“The twenty-seventh of February. Save the date.”
“The wedding?” Ella’s mother can barely breathe as she joins her hands together in prayer.
“Yes, I’m getting married.” Everything is worth it to see the pure joy on Ella’s face right now.
She bites her bottom lip as she looks up into my eyes. “WE are getting married.”
I hold her face and kiss her, everyone cheers.
“To Ella and Lucas.” I release Ella as everyone rises with their drinks. I nod at Brendan, I hadn’t expected him to stay, but he had.
“To Ella and Lucas.” Everyone repeats before drinking. We had a community to rebuild. The chaos that followed after my father and Henry’s deaths were hard to control, but we managed to restore some faith in the community. My mother had taken the position as leader, not me. I wasn’t ready yet. I was on the committee, but I wasn’t leading. I wanted time with Ella. We had so many first things to make come true for her and I planned to make sure I didn’t miss a second of her experiencing life with me.
I hold her tighter. This was our beginning. She turned out to be my savior.
My everything.

Killing for me is easy. Loving is an entirely different thing.
Una is the only person I ever gave a damn about, but she's off limits. I’m grateful she only spends the summer with us. I can't risk her getting involved in my life of crime. But now she’s here, all grown up, and this time, I don’t think I can stay away from her.
When Una starts partying with Darragh, who’s as wild and unpredictable as they come, I can't afford keeping my distance any longer. Bodies seem to stack up wherever he goes. Cleaning up his messes used to be annoying. Now I have Una to consider, Una to protect.
My family is belly deep in the criminal underworld, and she's a distraction I can't afford. The closer she gets to me, the more I'm spiraling out of control.

About The Author
Enjoy this book? You can make a big difference
Reviews are the most powerful tools in my arsenal when it comes to getting attention for my books. Much as I’d like to, I don’t have the financial muscle of a New York publisher.
(Not yet, anyway.)
But I do have something much more powerful and effective than that, and it’s something that those publishers would kill to get their hands on.
A committed and loyal bunch of readers.
Honest reviews of my book help bring them to the attention of other readers.
So if you’ve enjoyed this book I would be very grateful if you could spend just five minutes leaving a review.
Thank you very much!
