The Battle of Nerthus

BOOK 2 . THE BATTLE OF NERTHUS . VANCE BLACK

  Prologue

The year is A.D. 2100, and humanity is nearly extinct due to a nuclear war of global proportions. The only known survivors were those fortunate enough to be in space at the time of the apocalypse.

The astronauts of Olympus 1 returned to Earth once their colony ran short of supplies, but unbeknownst to them, the U.S. Space Force had a much larger and more sophisticated space colony. They had the luxury of allowing the elite to stay behind on the space station, while the grunts paid the Olympians on Earth a cruel visit. While the main objective was to extract resources, abduct scientists, and recruit soldiers, the militants also converted the Olympus village into a prison camp.

Meanwhile, in the unknown reaches of our galaxy, Captain Harold Conner and his crew aboard the Albatross 5 have successfully landed on Nerthus, a newly discovered habitable planet. Their next mission is to study the planet as much as possible before the remnants of the human race are migrated over to Nerthus. Space Force's ultimate goal is to make Nerthus the new home for humanity.

They will pursue this goal at any cost necessary.

  Chapter 1: Ruby & Woods (10-02-2100)

"This way. Don't let the cameras see you," Ruby cautioned.

"I can't believe we're doing this," replied Woods.

The botanist and the nurse raced through the night, leaving the Ultra-Speed spacecraft behind.

"Let's go behind those boulders." She pointed toward the horizon.

"If Harry realizes we snuck out, we'll be scrubbing the Albatross with a toothbrush for weeks."

"Don't be such a little bitch, Woods." Ruby grinned. "We're gonna be the first people to fuck on another planet!"

The two of them laughed mischievously as they ran east to the large boulder formation. When they arrived, Woods grabbed Ruby's hips aggressively and pulled her in for a wet kiss.

"Ooh, first kiss on Nerthus," Ruby said after he pulled away.

"First ass grab on Nerthus," Woods responded as he gave her a squeeze.

"First doggystyle on Nerthus," Ruby teased with a smirk, as she turned around and bent over.

"First slut on Nerthus?" Woods muttered as he began lifting her skirt.

  "What?"

  "Nothing."

"Not yet, Woody," Ruby said as she pulled down her skirt and kept running, "behind the boulders, you idiot."

"We're nearly a mile away," he panted as he chased her around the boulders.

"I'm gonna be very loud," she said. "I'm tired of screaming into pillows on the fucking Albatross."

"Hey, slow down! Do you know how hard it is running with a hard- on?"

Once Woods reached the backside of the boulder formation, he was immediately tackled by Ruby. She pinned him on his back and pulled his shirt off.

"God, I want that cock," said Ruby as she began grinding on him.

Woods twisted with a jerk, and flipped Ruby off him.

"Hold your horses, cowgirl," he said as he took off his pants.

Ruby crawled on all fours towards Woods and began sucking him.

"Damn, you're good at that," he moaned.

As her warm, wet mouth went to work on him, he looked around the strange planet and soaked it all in. The terrain was fairly flat, with scattered boulder formations. The three bright crescent moons made for a beautiful evening. On the horizon, there was some sort of blue electrical storm in the sky, but it looked fairly far away. He and Ruby planned to mate like animals all night. They were willing to face the consequences when they returned to the Albatross.

"Hey, did you hear something?" Woods said, as he looked behind him at the boulder formation.

Ruby took his penis out of her mouth.

"What? No," she said as saliva dripped down onto her cleavage. She began to stroke him with her hand. "Maybe if you're lucky, I'll let you fuck me in the ass."

"Uhhhhhh," Woods moaned in pleasure, "yeahhhh?"

"Yeah, would you like that?" Ruby teased as she stroked.

  "Yuhhh, yuhhh, yeahhhh."

  "Yeah?"

  "Ohhh, ahhhh."

Ruby stood up and started licking his neck while continuing to stroke. "You ready to fuck me?"

  "Ahhhh, yuhhh yes."

  "Huh?"

  "Yes."

  "Are you sure?"

  "Uhhhhh, God yes."

  "Will you beg for it?"

  "Yessss."

"What? I can't hear you. Will you beg for my ass or not?!"

  "Yes ma'am!"

"Get on your knees now and beg!"

"Please, Ruby." He got down on his knees, "Please, can I-"

Ruby put her hands on her hips and laughed out loud. "God, you're pathetic. Shut up and get on your back, stud."

Woody got on his back while Ruby stripped off her top, leaving her clad only in her skirt and boots. She wasn't wearing panties. She straddled him, squatted, and shoved him inside of her.

  "Ohhhh, yesss," she moaned.

  "Oh, fuck."

"Mmm, yeah!' Ruby shouted as she began to ride him.

"Oh God, you feel so good. Let me stick it in that ass!"

  "What?!" Ruby stopped abruptly.

  "Huh?"

"I said maybe you could fuck me in the ass," she scolded.

  "Okay —"

"Shut the fuck up, Woody!" she shouted as she slapped Woods across the face.

She began riding him again while continuing to scold him. "I would never ever let you fuck me in the ass, you fucking pig."

Ruby grabbed Woody's wrists and pinned them against the ground at the sides of his head. "You're lucky that I even let you touch me."

As Ruby belittled Woods, she rode him faster and faster. Woody had learned to love Ruby's abusive nature over the course of the voyage.

  "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" she screamed.

  "Ahhh!" Woods yelled.

As Woods climaxed, his euphoria instantly turned to dread when he noticed a large, dark figure lurking behind Ruby. It looked about seven feet tall, humanoid except that it had two sets of arms. Woods screamed, but it was no use. Ruby just thought he was having a really intense orgasm, and continued to ride him hard.

The creature firmly latched its top arms onto Ruby's shoulders, while the bottom set of arms gripped her hips.

  "What the —"

Before she could react, she was penetrated from behind. At this point, the man and the monster were both inside her. Woods could feel a large foreign object sliding along him inside of Ruby. As the couple screamed hysterically, they could both feel a warm ooze spilling out of her. The creature pinned her down firmly against Woods and began thrusting into her, slowly but surely. Neither Woods nor Ruby could break free from its powerful clutches. The alien began thrusting faster and harder. Face to face, the couple screamed louder as the thrusting grew more intense. Finally, the creature belted out a loud, lion-like roar and gave one last thrust. Ruby's screams instantly turned to quiet groans as her entire body went limp. The monster wasted no time in pulling out and running away into the darkness. Woods cried silently as he felt the warm ooze now gushing out of her.

  "Ruby," he whispered, "Ruby!"

He lifted her head off his shoulder. Her eyes were rolled back in her head, and she drooled all over his face. She was still breathing, and moaned quietly.

Woods tried to roll her off, but suddenly heard a noise in the distance and immediately played dead. Another creature was approaching. It looked just like the first, but was even larger. The creature slowly paced towards them while grunting and sniffing. Woods trembled as it got closer. The creature got down on all six limbs and crawled like a spider. Its top set of arms latched onto Ruby's ankles and spread her legs open. It began sniffing loudly. Woods trembled uncontrollably and began to silently sob. The creature sniffed a few more times between her thighs, then stood up abruptly and began making loud barking noises. Woods was horrified, but before he could panic, the creature ran off into the dark.

Woods immediately pushed Ruby off him and frantically scrambled to his feet. He ran naked back around the boulders from which he'd come. As soon as he got to the end of the boulder formation, he saw another four-armed creature with its back facing him. The alien's skin was dark and shiny like an eggplant in the moonlight; its shape was like a very bulky human's. The Nerthling began to slowly turn, each of its three-fingered hands clenching into fists as it turned to face him.

Without hesitation, Woods darted back behind the boulders. He ran like a madman past Ruby's limp body and towards the other side of the boulders, then looked back to see if the alien was still behind him; he didn't see it. Before he could turn his head back around, he slammed into something large. The impact completely knocked the wind out of him. He fell backwards onto the ground, holding his stomach and gasping for air.

He looked up to see yet another Nerthling towering above him, with lightning bolts flashing in the background as the thunderstorm grew nearer. The alien had one pupilless bug-like eye that took up most of its long, oval head. Its jagged-toothed grin almost gave the creature the look of a creepy mutant Jack-o'-lantern. Woods got to his hands and knees and began crawling away, but the Nerthling grabbed him by the ankles and dragged him back. Woods screamed for his life as the alien latched one set of arms around his hips and the other pair on his shoulders. He could feel it spray the warm goo all over the crack of his buttocks. Woods braced himself. Suddenly he heard a loud banging noise, and the Nerthling let him go. As he scrambled to his feet, he saw that another Nerthling had intervened. It was beating its counterpart down with all four of its large fists. Woods immediately ran away from the boulders, in the opposite direction of the Albatross, hoping there wouldn't be any Nerthlings that way. The storm was now crackling and banging all around him. The stronger Nerthling finished dishing out a ruthless beating to the other, and then began chasing Woods. Although it fought on two legs, the creature ran on all six limbs. Its top set of arms reached towards its prey with wiggling fingers.

Woods screamed hysterically as he sprinted. His vision was blurred by tears, but he continued to sprint into the unknown. All of a sudden, he blacked out. He woke up on the ground, his head was spinning. He put his hand on the side of his head, where he felt the most pain; to his horror, there was a lot of blood. He could hear the loud grunts of another Nerthling in front of him. He tried to get up but couldn't keep his balance and fell back on his back. He heard the Nerthling that was chasing him finally arrive. The two Nerthlings roared at each other, then started to battle. Woods sobbed as he lay helplessly on the ground, knowing what the two monsters were fighting over.

After a few minutes of brutal chaos, silence. Then Woods heard the winning Nerthling's grunts approaching. It flipped him over, mounted him, and collected its prize.

  Chapter 2: The Albatross

"Captain, the cameras are all staked in. We've got an incoming electrical storm roughly 20 miles east," said Vixen 900 over the radio.

"Thanks, Vix, we'll have to keep an eye on it. For now, come join us in the bridge," Harold Conner replied.

  "Roger that, Captain."

"We're online, and Eagle Eye is airborne," the ship's computer system announced.

"Great work with the drone, Gimmick," said Terence Garvey. The technician flipped a switch that lit up a wall of monitors in the bridge.

"Eagle Eye, survey all coordinates on the grid and then move east to survey the nearby lake," Lieutenant Zeke Gordon commanded.

"Affirmative," the smart drone replied in a crisp British accent.

"Weren't they gonna make an option for Samuel L. Jackson to be the voice of Eagle Eye?" Harry asked.

  "Who's that?" asked Garvey.

"Forget it, you're too young. My grandfather loved him though."

"Mine too!" Gordon chimed in. "You ever seen the one where there were a bunch of snakes on a plane? I forgot the name."

"That one doesn't ring a bell, Lieutenant."

Marine Colonel Leroy Barnes entered the bridge and stood behind where the three men sat.

  "How's it looking?" he asked.

"We just went live," replied Gordon.

"Great! The crew has been suffering from major cabin fever. They're all in the lounge chomping at the bit to get out there. When can we release the hounds?"

"At bare minimum, I'd like 24 hours of surveillance first," Harry replied as he rose to stand by the Colonel.

Garvey rubbernecked behind him as Vixen 900 entered the bridge. He was particularly fond of this particular model of android. She was sexy, and could handle any type of program.

"Captain, the storm is only 10 miles away now," she said. "It appears that the weather is very spontaneous and… aggressive here, you might say."

  "Hey, Vix," Garvey said bashfully.

"Garvey, keep an eye on the drone," Gordon said firmly. "If you see any lightning, you may need to switch to manual controls."

  "Yessir."

"Vixen, let me know when the storm is within five miles of us," Harry ordered.

"Copy," Vixen replied as she stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Captain and the Colonel.

The curvy android quickly slipped her right hand down her left ribcage and onto her oblique. She tapped her fingers twice to reveal a small control pad. After a few pushed buttons, she was now synched up to the Eagle Eye drone's advanced weather surveillance system.

The three of them observed the monitors intently as Garvey and Gordon remained seated in the front row manning the controls.

"Movement on camera E-E," announced Gimmick.

"Sir, we've got something on the Eagle Eye," Garvey repeated.

Garvey zoomed the Eagle Eye camera in. It was difficult to make out what they were seeing in the dark, but the three crescent moons were just bright enough to reveal a silhouette of something large on the ground. Garvey went to infrared, but the figure wasn't very warm, so he blinked back to the visual spectrum and activated a small floodlight instead.

"What in God's name…?" muttered Colonel Barnes as the men all leaned closer to the screen.

"Holy shit, it's a body," Gordon gasped.

"Garvey, zoom in closer. What is that?" asked Harry.

"Sir, it appears to be a large animal of some kind," replied Garvey as he zoomed in closer. "Humanoid, though hexapodal."

  "Is it alive?" asked Barnes.

"Captain, the storm is very close now," said Vixen, "less than five miles. It's moving very rapidly."

  "Garvey, scan it!" Harry ordered.

"It looks… pregnant or something," said Gordon.

"Captain, three miles," Vixen warned. "Scratch that: two miles."

"Scanning on all spectra," Garvey reported.

Suddenly, the sound of a very loud thunderclap rumbled through the Albatross. All the monitors flashed white and then went off, along with all the power on the ship. Everyone sat silently in the dark for a moment.

"Well, shit," Harry muttered, as the emergency power hummed to life.

  Chapter 3: Life (10-03-2100)

It was the first morning on Nerthus for the visitors aboard Albatross 5. One at a time, the crew made their way into the lounge for breakfast, where Harry sat alone with his cup of coffee.

"Good morning, Captain," said Gordon as he took a seat.

"Lieutenant," Harry replied with a nod.

  "Sleep well?"

Harry just shook his head. The long voyage was taking a toll on him, and he'd begun to resemble a Rastafarian. His long, unkept dreadlocks and beard were testaments to how overworked he was.

"Sorry I asked," Gordon replied. "On the bright side, the engineers got most of the power back overnight. I just sent Vix back out there."

"Thanks, Gordon. We need to scan that creature out there, then assess the damage."

"Morning Captain, Lieutenant," said Colonel Barnes as he joined the two.

  "Morning," they replied in unison.

"Gentlemen, I have some bad news," Barnes said.

"Bad news?" asked Harry. "Can't it wait until tomorrow?"

"I'm sorry, sir." Barnes hesitated. "…Well, Mr. Woods and Nurse Cox… How should I put this? They're missing."

Harry and Gordon looked at each other in silence for a moment.

  "Say what?" Harry asked.

"I don't know, Captain. I checked the surveillance footage and didn't see anything."

"Colonel, we need to regulate who uses the exit from here on out," Gordon chimed in immediately.

"Yes, but that's a fire safety hazard, Lieutenant," Barnes replied.

"Goddammit, Colonel!" Harry slammed his fist of the table. "You will guard the exit around the clock until we know it's safe to set foot on this planet!"

"Yes sir," said Barnes, "and when will that be?"

"Whenever I damn well say it is!" Harry snapped as he got up from his seat.

Everyone in the lounge stopped what they were doing and stared.

Before Harry could storm off, Garvey burst into the lounge, "Captain, we've got it!"

The three men followed Garvey onto the bridge. They noticed half the cameras were back up and running.

"Check out V-V," Garvey pointed to a monitor, "that's Vixen's body camera."

"Good morning, Captain," Vixen said. "Looks like we've discovered animal life, possibly sentient."

The four men looked at the monitor in disbelief. The alien could be seen clear as day in the mild yellow light of the local star.

"I've just scanned the 'Nerthling', as I've provisionally named it," the android said. "It's alive but slightly injured, and apparently under some sort of paralysis."

"Garvey, send the Ho-Ro," ordered Harry. "We need to get it into the lab."

"Captain, we have no idea what that thing's capable of," Barnes warned.

"That's why we need to study it. To see what it's capable of."
