destruction. Chances are you'll find a documentary created

about the subject. Rent the documentary and invite all your

friends to watch it with you. Ask your friends for a donation,

  Seven ofPentacles

  M ANAGING YOUR ABUNDANCE MAGIC

The figure on the Seven of Pentacles leans on his rake,

thoughtfully reassessing the harvest he has reaped. The fruits

of his labor burst abundantly in his garden, the tendrils suggesting further growth, and he appears to be thinking about what comes next. The Seven of Pentacles suggests an accumulation of material things, projects, and items.

We want so much from life, don’t we? We want more, more,

more. Credit cards make it all too simple to indulge in the

immediate gratification of shopping now and considering the

consequences at a later (fuzzy) date when the bill arrives. This

can lead us into a closet jammed with clothes never worn, bathrooms filled with useless products, and kitchens bursting with gadgets hardly used. Even if you don’t harbor shopaholic tendencies, it seems that if you have empty space, it will eventually become filled.

Abundance and money are wonderful things to have in your

life. Before you start asking the world to shower you with more

stuff, take a moment to step back and look at the massive

amount of things you already have.

Look at the abundance in your life. Consider your healthy

body. The people you love and who love you back. The animals

you love. The food in your fridge. The clothes on your back. The

electronic gadgets that make tasks simpler. The clean water cascading from your faucet and hot water available for a restorative shower. Music that lifts your spirits. Glance out your window or

walk outside to welcome the abundance of life offered by blue

skies, puffy clouds, brisk wind, warm sun, and lush grass. Do

  you realize how much you already have at your fingertips? Ponder the following;

Do I take care o f the pentacles I already have?

Consider your relationships, finances, home, and body. Consider how you treat the abundance you already have been graced with. You may consider the archetype of a spoiled child

who hungers for more and more toys while not appreciating

  what she’s already got. Ask yourself;

Do I have items I can let go of?

We can pave the way for abundance and work attraction

magic by appreciating what we already possess and clearing our

clutter. This act creates space for new things to come to us.

Pick one area of your home where you desire abundance and

perform the following exercise. As you clean, organize, and

expel, imagine you are paving the way for new and wonderful

things to come your way. Cement it with a physical action as

  suggested in the following activities.

The following activities are inspired by the Seven of Pentacles.

Each activity also concludes with an extra tarot card whose energy may be invoked.

  •

  Clothing and Fabulous Wardrobe Attraction

What would Lucy, the child from the Chronicles of Narnia, discover if she ventured into your wardrobe? Loads of unused clothes? Time to organize. If you haven’t worn an item in a

year, get rid of it. Clothing in need of repair or dry cleaning

should be attended to. Look in a fashion magazine, find pictures of items you desire, and tape them to the inside of your closet. (The World)

  •

  Finances and Money Attraction

If Suze Orman paid you a visit, what would she discover in

your financial organization? Go through your financial filing

systems and rid yourself of old papers and receipts you no

longer need. Look at your budget, see where you are spending

your money, and find an area you can save on. End by writing a

financial goal and placing it where you can see it. (The Emperor)

  •

  Kitchen and Nurturing Magic

If Julia Child were to manifest her spirit in your kitchen (and

perhaps she has already, if you cook her famous recipes), what

would she discover? The kitchen is where we nurture others

and ourselves. Clean out that junk drawer; polish your pots so

they sparkle like you (denture cleanser is an excellent secret

weapon to polish up stainless steel). Time to clean the oven? No

time like the present. Clear out your fridge and get rid of old

condiments. Fill up your fridge with the superfoods suggested

in the Nine of Pentacles exercise. (The Sun)

  •

  Bathroom and Beauty Magic

If Cindy Crawford magically projected her five-foot-nine-inch

frame into your bathroom, what would she find, rummaging in

your medicine cabinet? Throw out old, used-up mascaras and

products you don’t use. Organize your hair products and soak

your blushes and combs in the sink with a half cup baking soda

and warm water for fifteen minutes. Clean and scrub away any

dirt or grime in the tub. Pull a fresh look out of a beauty magazine and tape it on your mirror to inspire you the next time you get ready to leave the house looking fierce! (The Empress)

  •

  Attic and Spiritual Magic

If the Dalai Lama chose to meditate in your attic, what would

he find? If you have an attic, you can look at the upper recesses

of your house as being a spiritual place—literally the highest

level. While cleaning out those old boxes and cobwebs, attempt

to connect with your higher wisdom, spirit guides, and astral

  friends. (The Hierophant)

  •

  Basement and Subconscious Magic

If Oprah were to pull up a stool in your basement and interview you on the complexities of your childhood, would she be confronted with musty7 boxes, damp mattresses, and piles of old

crafting supplies? We can understand basements and lower sections of the home as representing our unconscious. As you clean and organize, consider your unconscious inner pool. Visit

thoughts, ideas, and dreams you rarely allow to rise to the surface. Consider how these basement feelings affect life on a regular level. (The Moon)

  •

  Laundry Room and Cleansing Magic

If Martha Stewart were to pop over and throw in a load of

laundry, would you be mortified? The simple act of washing

laundry7 can be elevated to a magical level as you focus on the

cleansing aspect of a washing machine. (The Star)

  Eight o f Pentac/es

A SPELL FOR WORK YOU LOVE

The figure on the Eight of Pentacles diligently hammers away.

He is thoroughly engaged in his process. Examples of his craftsmanship hang for all to see and also form a ladder leading both upward toward spiritual manifestation and downward toward

material expression. The Eight of Pentacles card is about taking

pleasure in the work you do—seeing its fruitfulness, whether

the work itself is displayed physically or it brings you money.

Do you work in a profession you adore? Do you find your

work meaningful and satisfying? Is your work challenging

enough to keep you satisfied? Does time cease and the world

stop as you do your job?

There are plenty of people out there telling you that your work

should feel like play and to do what you love, regardless of

money. Well, yes! Dull! Wonderful in theory. What if you carry

a tremendous financial burden? What if you don’t know what

your work should be? What if you are unsure of the direction

you should head in? Does it ever feel like everyone but you has

it figured out? What if you just plain don’t know what you love

  to do?

Take a cue from the figure hammering away on the Eight of

Pentacles. You may use the number eight as a magical reminder that eights contain the double stability of a four.

Create your sacred space, light a candle, and center yourself.

Draw the Eight of Pentacles card.

List eight things you absolutely love to do. This can be as passive as watching television or as active as rock climbing. Do not worry about financial rewards; focus instead on things that

bring you joy and capture your marvelous imagination. Then

  continue with these prompts;

  •

List eight qualities you wish to enjoy in your life.

  •

List eight subjects or books you studied in school and

  fell in love with.

  •

List eight people whose work you admire and who inspire you.

  •

List eight different professions you have at one point

  considered doing.

  •

List eight pleasurable rewards from jobs you have

  already held or have.

  •

List eight qualities people compliment you on.

  •

List eight sleeping dreams you can recall.

  •

List eight places you’d like to live.

Finish off by reciting the following:

  Eight o f Pentodes, work I love

I find that which fits me like a glove.

The work is me, my soul, my fire

Through work I gain my heart’s desire.

An extra power boost for manifesting a professional direction

to go in is to keep this card with you as you go about your day.

Ask yourself diligently, each and every7 day: “What work should

I be doing? What is the perfect job for me?” If you focus on this

question and let your unconscious seek, you will receive the answer. I’d bet diva dollars on it.

  Nine o f Pentacles

SUPERFOODS AND A M ILLI ON-DOLLAR BODY ACTIV

  ITY

The Nine of Pentacles depicts a gorgeous diva, sublimely

blissful with herself and surroundings. The castle in the background implies familial inheritance akin to European vineyards that remain within families for generations. The falcon resting

on her glove denotes loyalty. Secure and safe within her lush

vineyard, this is a woman comfortable in her own solitude and

  delighted in her skin.

The Nine of Pentacles reminds us that while pentacles represent money, they often apply to issues surrounding our body

image. Scientists over the years have attempted to calculate exactly how much money it would cost to construct a human body from scratch; to create our cells, eyeballs, nervous system, muscles, skin. Guess how much our bodies are worth? An estimated hundreds of millions would be spent, and to date, no one has

been able to accomplish such a task. You are walking around in

  a multimillion-dollar body! If you owned a multimillion-dollar

mansion, island, or jet, wouldn’t you want to take care of it?

More inspiring, your body provides temporary shelter for your

  soul. Priceless.

There is any number of ways to treat your body well. The easy

way to nourish your body is through food. Every7 time you nibble on a snack or enjoy a meal is an opportunity7 to delight your taste buds and simultaneously take care of the million-dollar

eyTes you are using to read this book.

Take the Nine of Pentacles shopping with you—pop her in

your bag and stock up on the nine superfoods listed below.

Make sure to purchase and consume these divine superfoods in

moderation and in accordance with any doctor’s orders. Each

time you bring one of these magical foods to your lips, remind

y^ourself you are cherishing, cultivating, and healing y^ourself.

Apples: Apple skins are packed with antioxidants, the flesh is

loaded with fiber, and an averaged-sized apple contains only

47 calories. Eat one a day to keep that doctor away. Use an

apple’s beauty7 power to bring him close if you desire. Magically, apples enhance beauty7 and health.

Avocado: Packed with fiber and healthy monounsaturated

fats, an avocado is an outstanding superfood. Slice onto

sandwiches, mash into dips, or eat raw with a sprinkling of

sea salt. Place avocado paste on your skin for a refreshing

mask. Avocados are great for fertility spells and encouraging

  lustful encounters.

Beans: Beans are a lowfat source of protein and fiber and can

be incorporated into every7 diet. Add to soups, puree for

dips, or use in cold salads. Beans, beans, the magic fruit ...

can be planted in the back yard with a magical wish.

Blueberries: Blueberries brimming with antioxidants are a

sweet treat that may be consumed daily. Eat alone, mixed

into yogurt, or baked into muffins. Magically, blueberries

  are marvelous for protection spells.

Broccoli: Broccoli is one of the most nutrient-dense foods

available. Nibble it raw, saute with a bit of garlic, or steam

and drizzle with lemon. Use broccoli’s vibrant green color to

aid you in money manifestation spells.

Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate lowers high blood pressure.

Eat in small quantities to give yourself a healthy and indulgent treat. Use dark chocolate in love and lust attraction spells.

Nuts: Nuts are a great source of protein, fiber, and antioxidants. Eat small handfuls for snacks and replace for your highly saturated fats. Magically, use nuts for grounding energy.

Tomatoes: Tomatoes are full of lycopene, potassium, and

fiber. Eat them raw and in sauces, pastas, and salads—they

are the most versatile of foods. Magically, you may crush a

tomato to squelch a bad habit.

Lowfat Yogurt: Yogurt is high in protein and calcium, and

excellent for digestion. Enjoy for breakfast, a snack, or

dessert. Use magically for moon spells and beauty enhancement.

  Ten ofPentacles

FIN AN CIAL W INDFALL SPELL

The Ten of Pentacles is packed to the brim with abundance.

Money and people color the card. The Ten of Pentacles represents success, culmination, and financial stability. Interestingly, the Ten of Pentacles is the only card in the deck that shows a

gateway, a doorway into a city. Tarot imagery is full of towers

and villages, but only in the Ten of Pentacles do we find an entrance. We can look at this arch as the magical space between desire for money and its physical manifestation. The Rider-Waite deck depicts an older man, a grandfather perhaps, approaching the city. Ten pentacles follow him as if attached to his back by invisible strings. Before him are a couple and child,

  implying a generational theme.

Tens always suggest completion, curtains closing after the

third act, applause at the end of the show. A ten of any suit implies the issue at hand is over. But like the World card, with an ending, the cycle begins anew with the Fool. So with a ten follows an ace. We can access this magical gate and utilize its energy to aid in bringing financial abundance to our lives.

Every now and again you need a financial boost. I’m talking

cold, hard cash in your hands—money in the bank. This is a

wonderful spell to perform when you need to attract some

green. The locution of this spell is built upon the names of the

ten Sephiroth on the Qabalistic Tree of Life (pictured on the

opposite page). Sephiroth are the way “the Infinite” is revealed.

It adds a delicious magical boost to your desired manifestation.

For more Tree of Life tarot connections, visit Wald and Ruth

Ann Amberstone s Tarot School online or in person.

Contemplate the Ten of Pentacles and feel the abundance

packed into this picture, then gather the following:

  •

10 dimes (dimes, worth ten pennies, again represent 10)

  •

  Peppermint tea

  •

  Green candle

  1

Prepare your tea so it is ready to sip while performing the

spell. Let the peppermint remind you that the money is coming

toward you in an exciting, energetic way.

Light your green candle and call to the four corners and your

  higher self.

Seriously, with feeling, begin placing dimes on top of your

Ten of Pentacles card, beginning with the pentacle at the top. As

you place each dime over a pentacle on the card, recite the following phrases:

Crown: “This coin represents the crowning

  achievements that attract money”

Wisdom: “This coin represents the wisdom of my

  financial choices.”

  Understanding: “This coin represents the

  understanding of my financial responsibility”

Mercy: “This coin represents the compassion and mercy with

  which I use my money”

Severity: “This coin represents overcoming financial hardships.”

Beauty: “This coin represents the beauty I spread as a result of

  attracting money.”

Victory: “This coin represents my victorious attitude toward
