“Drink,” she repeated, and Sam obeyed. “Good girl.”

  “Alex, I want to—”

  “Again. Miss.”

Sam shivered and almost dropped the bottle.

“Miss, I need to touch you. Please, will you allow me to?”

Alex half-purred, half-growled the answer in her ear.

“Good girl. Yes, you may touch me now.”

  CHAPTER

  25

Sex with Alex turned out to be more fulfilling, exciting, and fun, than any of the fantasies Sam elaborated in her own mind when she lay in bed, alone, after a round of stressful duty. She forgot about her aching body and just allowed her partner to direct her, and tell her exactly how to please her. Alex was at ease issuing instructions, no doubt about that, and she dispensed lots of lewd praise in return. Also, mind-melting caresses and the occasional slap to ensure absolute focus and dedication. She was rough and intense, delightfully so, in between bouts of genuine tenderness. Plenty of laughter between the two, and hungry kisses that left them both breathless. It went on for a long time, in the privacy and comfort of their little room. Finally, after several orgasms on both sides, Sam had to beg for mercy.

“Please,” she laughed. “No more, I… Alex, I can’t.”

Alex collapsed on the cushions and pulled her in her arms with an amused, if equally spent, giggle.

“Same, darling. I’m calling Red on this one.”

They shared some of the water. Sam pulled a warm blanket over them both. Then they simply lay in each other’s embrace, smiling, enjoying a silent look. Alex spoke first.

“So. Are you okay?” she murmured.

“Yes, I feel great. Demolished, but great.”

  “Good. It’s the best kind.”

  “And you?”

“Sort of the same. Happy, full, and… It’s hard to describe.”

“That’s okay, my lovely Miss,” Sam teased. “Don’t be shy or censor yourself.”

  “Ah, yes. Touché…” Alex chuckled.

Smiling, but with tears in her eyes all of a sudden, and Sam tensed in surprise and a touch of concern.

  “Alex, what—”

“Shhh…” Alex rested a soft finger over her lips. “I’m okay, don’t worry.”

  “Are you sure?”

“Yes. Like you said, it’s easy to get emotional after fantastic sex. And when it follows a great scene with an excellent partner as well, even more so.”

  “Yes?” Sam prompted. “And?”

Alex stared into her eyes, smiling softly. Back in control, but clearly hesitating. Sam kissed the back of her hand. She flashed a gentle smile of her own.

“Please, go ahead,” she encouraged. “You can trust me too, you know?”

  “Yes... Yes, I do.”

  “You sound surprised.”

“Not because of you, Sam,” Alex reassured. “But I thought I was done with feeling this…” A bit more hesitation as she tried to figure it out, it seemed, and Alex sighed. “Done with feeling, period. I’ve had wonderful play partners in the past, and great lovers as well… But never the two together at the same time.”

  “Not even with your ex?”

“No, not even with Amelie. Looking back on it, I can see the relationship was very uneven. Unhealthy. In many respects.”

Sam quietly registered the weight of the admission. On the other side of a huge submissive high, she was settling back into her regular self. Tired and sore, sure, but no less perceptive. Alex struck her as an extremely private and proud person. No doubt this was a big thing for her to share with someone else. From the expression on her face, pensive and a bit sad, it was not hard to guess that she had struggled to accept what she just revealed to her now. Sam was not going to probe any further.

“I’m glad you feel okay with me,” she murmured.

Alex caressed her cheek with a folded knuckle.

“A lot more than just okay. You’re pretty exceptional, you know that?”

“Well, I just went with the flow. You made it easy.”

  “We’re a good match, Sam.”

Alex looked at her as if she wanted to say more but did not dare.

“It’s fun to see you looking all shy,” Sam chuckled.

“Not quite,” Alex replied with that characteristic sharpness in her voice. “But I’ll tell you, since you’re a newbie and need to learn.”

  “I’m listening, Miss.”

“What we did tonight was about as far as I would go for a scene in terms of intensity and pushing limits. It’s going to leave an indelible mark, and I don’t mean just bruises on your lovely bottom.”

“That’s okay, I can take that.”

“Yeah, I know you’re tough. That’s not what I mean.”

“If this is a warning about emotional fall-out, it’s okay too,” Sam shrugged, unsure about where the conversation was going. “Or if you’re already dumping me, I—”

“God!” Alex exclaimed with a burst of laughter. “Of course not! Sam, I’m sorry. I’m making a mess of this, aren’t I?”

  “Well...”

“That’s okay, I can take honest feedback,” Alex grinned.

“In this case,” Sam winked. “Yes. Hell of a mess.”

There was so much Alex wanted to say… And yet she knew that too much talk in aftercare could be lethal. This was a time for cuddling and soft kisses. For being a responsible dominant and taking care of the gorgeous woman who had given her so much already. She realized she was still buzzing from the scene and that, just like sub-frenzy, a domme could fall under the spell of powerful feelings in the heat of the moment… And yet, she had enough experience to feel the difference. This was real. And Sam also felt pretty solid. Alex made her decision.

“This is from the heart, okay?”

“I hope so,” Sam answered with a sweet smile.

“I really like you. I don’t want this to be a one-off between us.”

“Are you talking about BDSM play?”

“All of it,” Alex blurted out, her heart racing. “I want to get to know you, Sam. Spend time with you, go out on walks, take you out for dinner, and chat… For the record, this sort of scene only happens on special occasions. You won’t be permanently black and blue under me.”

Sam raised a cute eyebrow at the word, for the second time.

“Under you,” she chuckled. “Is that how it’s going to be?”

“Slip of the tongue. Domme speak. I mean with me.”

Alex watched her carefully to gauge her reaction. She could feel her own heart pounding, nothing to do with sexual tension this time. I feel like a bloody teenager! She was nervous alright, and felt the need to add a little something.

“We take it as it goes. No promises. Just… Nice and steady. Okay?”

“Oh. I like a woman with disclaimers.”

“Seriously, though? How do you feel about that?”

“Well.” Sam nodded, eyes burning full of quiet joy. “I like you too, Alex. A lot. In case it’s not clear yet, I wouldn’t let just anyone tie me up and whip me the way you did, even if I really wanted to have the experience. I’m a cop. I tend to be suspicious of people even under the best circumstances.”

  “Noted.”

“But there’s something about you… Something that made me want to trust and let go. I don’t know why, but you feel safe. You make me feel that way. So yes, absolutely. I would love to go out with you, outside of BDSM, and see what happens.”

Feeling genuinely relieved, and even more elated than she thought she would, Alex kissed her softly on the lips, enjoying the way Sam smiled against her mouth.

“Thanks for telling me that I make you feel safe. It means a lot to me, and that you enjoyed your first time, as well.”

  “Seems kinda backward, doesn’t it?”

Alex knew exactly what she was talking about.

“What?” she laughed. “Deciding to get to know each other after we had a scene?”

“Yeah, and after we had sex, too.”

“Welcome to the wonderful world of BDSM, darling.”

Sam smiled, relaxed in her arms, and closed her eyes.

“Thanks for rescuing me from Vanilla-land.”

They fell asleep on that chuckle, naked in each other’s arms, and slept until late. Katherine came to knock on the door as they were enjoying brunch, left-over pizza from the night before.

“Just checking in on my two lovely guests,” she announced, as Alex let her in.

“Coming in to gossip, more like.”

“I’ll admit, yes. But hey, it’s not every day the chief of police spends time in my dungeon.”

Sam lightly choked on a mouthful of coffee.

“I’d prefer it if you didn’t share the news on your podcast, Katherine,” she stated.

“Only joking, Officer Sam,” Katherine giggled in response. “Just out of curiosity though, how long have you been listening to my podcast?”

  “Two or three months.”

“And has it been useful to you?”

  “Yes, very.”

  “Great, I’m so glad!”

Alex nodded when Sam shot her a laughing glance.

  “What?” she prompted.

“A number of times, I actually thought of becoming one of Kat’s paying clients,” her lover volunteered. “Thought I needed professional assistance.”

“To be one of my subs?” Katherine exclaimed, delighted at the news. “Ooh, that’s exciting! But how come you didn’t get in touch?”

“Like you said, I am the chief of police. So, I have to be a bit careful about what I do in my private life.”

“Ah. Trust issues,” Katherine instantly guessed.

“I think of it more as being level-headed.”

“Well, if you’re still interested, I could—”

Alex moved up behind Sam, rested both hands possessively over her shoulders, and interrupted before she could go further; to offer attractive discounts on spanking sessions, tempting free trials for play weekends, and the likes.

“This one’s taken, Kat. Thank you.”

Katherine laughed again, clearly tickled at her reaction.

“Don’t you love it, Sam?” she smiled. “That fierce dominant vibe and protective streak?”

  “Mm…”

Sam glanced up, smiling with a wondering, frankly adoring expression in her eyes. Looked like she did love it, indeed, being talked about in these terms. Owned and possessed, yes… She was a true submissive, of course, and Alex was not too surprised at the reaction. She chuckled and bent forward to kiss her.

“Don’t go floating off into outer space on me again,” she warned, gently but seriously.

“I take it you had a good time last night,” Katherine said.

Again, Alex looked at her with a half-frown, unsure of how Sam would react to such constant probing and questioning. Very well, as it turned out, and with a deprecating sense of humor.

“We had a great time,” she grinned. “I can barely sit today, so it was a successful first encounter.”

“Glad to hear it, darling!” Katherine flashed them both an approving thumbs-up and a wink, and thankfully moved on to a more mundane topic. “I don’t suppose either one of you lovely ladies could help me to change a tire on my car?”

  “Yep. Me,” Sam answered.

Job completed, Alex took her on a lazy drive in the Audi, with its comfortably-padded and heated seats.

“Continuing aftercare for my aching bottom?” Sam joked.

“Definitely. I’m taking care of you for the rest of the day.”

More coffee was in order in a small, postcard-perfect village with expansive views of Mont Blanc out the window, and they enjoyed an intimate chat by the fireplace. Alex shared a bit more about some of the pressure that she had been under in recent weeks. It was good to open up.

“I guess it’s at moments like this that you find out who your real friends are, right?” Sam remarked.

“Yes. A few people showed their true colors at the first hint of trouble. I didn’t expect much better, to be honest. The worst part was being fired from my job as a lecturer. I enjoyed teaching almost as much as I do research and treating patients.”

“They might change their minds yet.”

  “You think so?”

“Yes. Things are evolving fast. Even a short while ago, you could not openly comment on the efficacy of the lockdowns, or lack thereof, for instance. Same for masks, vaccine side-effects, and the mandates, of course.”

“The lockdowns did more harm than good, that’s for sure,” Alex agreed instantly. “Without even mentioning the economic impact, they caused or inflamed serious mental health issues in a lot of people, especially those in vulnerable groups.”

  “That’s right…”

“As a police officer, I assume you’ve been dealing with the fall-out of all this?”

“Indeed, we have,” Sam nodded with a small sigh. “Had to deal with a lot more cases of domestic violence, alcohol or drug-related incidents, and suicides, than at any other time I can recall in my career.”

Alex rested a gentle hand over her knee.

“You are being careful. Right? Taking care of yourself?”

“Oh, always,” Sam confirmed. “I know what I’m doing.”

“Excellent. And you’ve got me now too. I’ll look after you, Samah.”

Sam lingered on her face, biting thoughtfully on her lower lip.

“I mean, if that’s still okay with you,” Alex added.

She was rewarded with a brilliant smile, and Sam nodded.

“Yes. Very okay. I’m just not used to this kind of talk, that’s all.”

“But as you said before, you like it. Don’t you?”

“Yes, I do,” Sam confirmed. “It’s a bit embarrassing, but…”

“Don’t be embarrassed about that,” Alex advised. “You can be fully yourself with me. I think a woman in touch with her deepest desires and not afraid of embracing it all is the sexiest thing.”

  CHAPTER

  26

The next few weeks flew by at the speed at light. Police work got done. Sentences, paragraphs, and chapters put together. Candle-lit dinners savored, and bottoms spanked. Well. Sam’s, that is. It amazed her, really, the speed at which the relationship with Alex was unfolding. Although she was experienced enough to realize that when something was truly meant to be, it usually happened easily and effortlessly. Her connection with Alex was like that. And fun, too. It just flowed. Her brother and his wife remarked on her general good mood, and she mentioned the relationship one evening. Happy and curious at first, Mattieu almost had a fit when he discovered the identity of the woman that his sister wanted to spend Christmas with.

“You can’t be serious!” he gasped.

“Oh yes. Sure, I am. Why? Is that a problem?”

  “You’re dating that… that…”

“Doctor?” she prompted in a pleasant tone, and with a hint of warning. “Is that the word you’re looking for, brother? Better be, let me tell you.”

“Sam, the woman is a devil worshipper!”

Between a show of anger or laughter, Sam chose the latter. Mattieu being spooked at her choices was, alas, nothing new.

“Since when do you believe the crazy stuff in trash mags, eh?” she simply asked.

“I do not. But there was an article about her in Le Monde the other day! She’s a sex addict and a dangerous anti-vaxxer. I can’t believe you, Sam!”

About to revise her stance on taking this with a smile, Sam shook her head impatiently.

  “Listen, Matt…”

Julie slipped in between them with a gentle smile.

“Please, don’t start yelling at each other, this is too silly. Honey, I read that article and, to be honest, Dr Delcourt makes a fair point. She’s obviously very qualified, and her argument is well-supported by science as well.”

  “Humph,” he groaned. “Yeah, but—"

“As for what she does in her private life, I think it should remain private,” Julie stated firmly, not giving him a chance to bring it up again.

“That’s right,” Sam approved. “Alex is perfectly sane, and a brilliant doctor as well. Anyway, you just said I look happy. She is the reason why.”

While Mattieu continued to frown and stew, his wife gently took charge of the conversation.

“Sam, I think that’s great news.”

  “Thanks, Julie.”

“Will you bring her round at some point? We’d love to meet her. Perhaps lunch on Christmas Eve?”

She said ‘We’, in an attempt to pacify everyone, but it was clear from the expression on his face that Mattieu was not at all on board with this. Sam stared hard at her brother, who was still muttering under his breath. And she grew tired, suddenly. Fed up with his seeming constant inability to ever perceive the world in anything other than black and white, right or wrong...

“I’ll think about it,” she said. “See you later, okay?”

Mattieu just turned his back on her, and she saw herself out. Julie raced after her, keen as always to put things right.

“Sam! Look, I’m sorry. You know he’ll come round.”

“Yes…” Frankly, I’m getting past the point of caring. But Sam did not say that out loud. She just gave her sister-in-law a good hug and a genuine smile. “Thanks for the invite, Ju. I’ll speak to Alex and let you know.”

  “Okay, Sam. Take care, sweetie.”

Family reluctance aside, Sam really felt as if she had come home with Alex in what was, truly, a D/s relationship. At first, some aspects of it were a little strange, like the way Alex wanted her to ‘Check-in’ with her when they could not be together. The idea felt oddly constrictive to Sam.

“I’m busy,” she reflected. “And the job is unpredictable, with odd hours and lots of last-minute changes. I can’t guarantee I’ll always be able to do it.”

“It doesn’t have to be at specific hours of the day,” Alex assured her. “Just hello and goodnight, so I know you’re okay. Indulge me. Please.”

“Ah. If you put it this way, then…”

To her surprise, when she tried it, Sam discovered that she did enjoy checking in. And even more since her partner always replied, no matter what weird time of day or night it may be.
