This is love. Real love. Lying right here in the bed cuddled up together. I feel like a voyeur to a private moment so I slink back into the bathroom and shut the door quietly behind me.

I bite my lip hard enough to draw blood to bring my focus away from my own needy skin. It was beautiful and maddening and frustrating but every moment was worth it.

I take slow deep breaths and try to get my body calm. When that doesn’t work I step back into the shower and give myself a shot of cold water that makes me yelp behind the hand I have clamped over my mouth.

  Fuck that.

I switch it to my temperature and try to stop shivering as I soap up for the second time tonight.

The door opens and I twist in surprise. Mal steps in and the heat in the stall rises dramatically.

“Is he ok?” I ask through chattering teeth. I should be immune to cold by now, seriously.

“Yes,” Mal nods and reaches out for some soap.

“Wait, I think the brownies put my soap in here.”

“I did,” he grumbles and steps under the spray with me.

I give him a blank stare but he won’t look at my face as he cleans himself.

“Um. I’m sorry I left. I just thought you two needed a minute. I didn’t mean to take it too far. Are you sure he’s ok?” Why can’t I shut up?

He finally looks at me and the affection there is so alien on his face that I do a double-take.

“He’s happy and so am I.”

“That’s… good?” I don’t know what else to say.

Honestly I want him out of here so I can take care of myself and get some sleep. Ugh. Sleep. Yeah, right.

“You healed him while you were cleaning him. He said all he felt was pleasure.”

“I did?” I frown as I think back. I didn’t do anything. Not consciously at least. Shit, I could have left him out there sore as fuck!

I give Mal a horrified look that he chuckles at as he rinses off.

“Rinse off and get back in bed.”

“Uh, can I have a minute?” I wince and try to shoo him out of the shower.

His scaled brows rise and he crosses his arms over his chest as he steps back to watch me.

Guess not. I’ll just knock him out and come back.

I shift around in discomfort because he’s right there and it’s not helping ease me down. I’m doing everything I can to not pounce on him and keep my eyes on his instead of trying to discover all of the fun differences he has hidden everywhere. As soon as the heat started rising in here so did my frustration.

“Hurry up,” he grumbles and I glare at him.

I did all that work and this is what I get. I’m ready to knock him out now.

“I’m still hard, kinz.” He leans forward with a smirk and gestures down. “I was cleaning up for you.”

I look and my mouth drops in shock. Shit, I only wore King out. How did I miss that waving around?

“Really?” I cry in excitement that I don’t bother to hide as I rush to rinse off. “Wait, I don’t want to wake King.”

“He’s awake and waiting. He wants to watch.”

“I’m hurrying,” I blurt out and he steps away from the stall with a big grin.

I can hear them both talking but I can’t make out the words as I dry off.

They’re lying on the bed facing each other and whispering when I come out. They both get quiet as I get closer. King offers me his hand to help me onto the mattress without stepping on his wings.

“He said you’re ok but I want to hear it from you, princess,” I kneel between them and brush his hair back behind his ear.

“I’m great,” he gives me a relaxed smile and slides a hand up my thigh on the outside.

“Good,” my shoulders drop with relief. In the heat of the moment it was a great idea but now that I’ve had a chance to think about it he could have gotten seriously hurt.

“You don’t follow directions well,” Mal gives me a half-hearted glare that doesn’t even rate on the scale as he tucks his wings and rolls to his back.

“I speak English,” I remind him. “You want compliance, speak it. You’re both as bad as Mitri.”

They’re silent for a moment before they start chuckling.

“Outsmarted ourselves,” King teases and Mal nods.

I roll my eyes and straddle Mal’s hips. I reach down to spread the lubricant he’s already producing all over him.

“No warmup?” He tilts his head back, enjoying the strokes.

I give him a look of disbelief. “I’ve had about an hour or two of warm up. Deal with it.”

I need it so badly that I ache. I feel empty and he can fix it.

King sits up and Mal wraps an arm around his waist to watch. King takes one of my nipples into his mouth and sucks so strongly that I falter in my strokes. My fingers clench in his hair to keep him there.

A hot hand skims over my leg and up my stomach to grip the other breast. The heat makes me sigh and relax back.

“This isn’t just a bodily function,” Mal growls out and my eyes open to meet his.

“We’ll talk after,” I roll my eyes and settle at his tip. King is holding him up to help. It’s nice to have a helping hand.

His slick helps ease me over him and the slide continues until I can’t take any more. I don’t hesitate to start moving. That tingling sensation is everywhere and I’m already close.

King kisses me as Mal’s hands settle on my hips. There’s a heavy pulse inside me as his cock thrums.

“Last one,” King mutters and I nod with a neck that’s gone boneless. The combination of sensations is overwhelming. The stretch, the tingle, his heat. It’s too much and not enough at the same time.

I brace my hands on Mal’s chest and catch him watching me with wide eyes. They’re glazed like I’ve drugged him. He’s making a soft, continuous noise that’s sweet and King lies pressed against his side, watching him disappear inside me, and stroking down his chest.

His hips jerk and a thumb rubs across my clit with searing heat. I let out a choked sound and start cuming, just that easily.

I gasp in a breath and whisper his name and King lets out a happy sound as Mal begins to move beneath me now that I’ve been forced to still. My legs are shaking too hard to find my strength.

They both sit up to surround me with feathers and warmth. King’s hands settle over Mal’s on my hips and helps me continue to move. Mal’s head settles in the crook of my neck as that sweet sound continues. It starts to get shaky and the pulse inside me gets heavier.

I wrap my arms around him, holding him to me as hard as I can as he cums. The heat of it is surprising. And it continues long after I thought it would be done. It soothes me with its warmth and leaves me groggy and limp.

Now I understand why King was so exhausted every time. His cum is a sedative.

Mal falls onto his back with a huff with me plastered to his chest.

King follows with a light laugh, pressed against my back. His wings settle over us both as we catch our breath.

“Prolly gonna’ pass out now,” I mumble and hope they can understand.

King kisses my cheek and reaches up to do the same to Mal.

“You are right where you belong, kinz,” Mal whispers.

“We’ll be right with you, my mate.” King’s hand strokes along my side.

I’m so groggy I can’t call him out for saying I’m his mate. The last thing I think about are the pendants as they lie in front of my eyes glimmering on Mal’s scales.

  06. Lily’s Call

I’m floating in the gray realm, no bonds in sight. The lack of their presence doesn’t disturb me. I’m supposed to be here right now.

  Aren’t I?

Wait. I’m supposed to be doing something.

  I can’t remember.

I relax back into the weightless sensation and my mind drifts. I’m almost asleep when a faint sound reaches my ears and gravity returns.

Sparky is next to me in the cage, flickering with rage as we watch Kimi kiss GV2.

  “What?”

My mind is having trouble focusing.

“Omae,” calls faintly on the wind.

  “King?” I yell back.

Suddenly all of the faces around me in the courtyard are staring. They’ve never done that before. Kimi and GV2 are staring down at me with malicious smiles. The people pick up torches and begin to advance.

“Oh, come on! She’s a fucking fireball!” I gesture angrily towards Sparky, who gives a puff of smoke and flickers around threateningly.

“Plus I’ve been set on fire before. You asphyxiate before the fire eats you. You’re an idiot!”

Everyone else stops, frozen in place as GV2 braces both of her hands on the balcony railing. She still looks amused, despite my smack talk. I hate her so much.

  “Would you prefer water, vessel?”

  This bitch.

“I would prefer for you to fuck your own face!” I shout back and grab the bars to shake them angrily.

She props her chin on her hand and everyone starts moving again.

I have to pretend this doesn’t matter. I need to get her pissed off enough to show up where I can reach her. She will eventually but I’d like to do this now. If there’s a chance that I can end this quickly I’ll take it. I don’t even know what King has planned for her.

“They’ll fail,” she calls down to me and I roll my eyes.

  “Mo chroí.”

At the sound of Aodhan’s voice a new idea forms. I close my eyes and start thinking of something else.

  Anything else.

A freezing wind bites into my skin and my eyes pop open, hoping for the plain of Leng.

What I get is an ice-covered river that’s melting and all of the guys surrounding me, stuck outside the ice. Somehow, Sparky and I are still trapped in a cage.

Should have thought of something not horrifying. At this point where would that be?

“You know what, this is bullshit.”

They all stop as I start pacing in a small circle.

“Kinz,” Mal gives me a defeated look.

“It’s fine,” I wave him off. “She can’t be a pussy forever!”

“Think yourself somewhere new,” Aodhan pushes against an invisible barrier.

“Wait,” King interrupts him and holds up a hand.

“Fuck you! She leaves now!” Vendetta shouts and starts hurling insults in Russian at him.

I stop and look at King with a curled lip.

“This cage, where is it from?”

“How should I know?” I give him a baffled look. Sparky is flinging herself at the bars without much effect. “Stop that before you knock yourself out.”

Sparky: “I hate it in here!”

“I get it but there’s always a loophole,” I crouch down and wince at the sound of grinding ice.

“It- She is speaking?” I can barely hear Peace’s voice over the cracking surrounding me.

“Now he hears me?” She whines and stills.

“Sparky,” King calls and she spins to face him. I don’t know how I know when she doesn’t have eyes. “Do you know where the cage is from?”

She tilts back and forth, thinking.

“She always puts us here.” We say it together as if we’re one person. It makes a shiver roll down my spine because it’s eerie.

“This is from her original body?” King presses.

“Yes.” Ok, we need to stop being synchronized. But no, it continues. “To make us weak.”

“What do you mean?” Aodhan asks. He’s still now but he’s watching the ice that I’m trying to ignore.

  Sparky: “To make us die.”

I shake my head and turn to her. “You think up someplace new.”

  Sparky: “What?”

“Something that isn’t our regular programming?”

She mulls that over and the cage begins to tilt. I brace a hand on the bar as Vendetta starts pacing and yelling at me.

“V, it is a dream and she is feeding off of you right now,” I try to calm him down. He gets quiet but he doesn’t stop moving.

  Sparky: “Mitri’s office.”

“I don’t even want to know why,” I shake my head and try to think of the office but all I can think about are chess pieces and his damn desk.

“Everyone think of the office,” Mitri says flatly.

The wind cuts and the bars rattle hard enough that I’m shaken off my feet.

I land hard on my ass and my eyes snap open to see V trying to take the cage apart with his bare hands.

  “Uh, hi?” I say, bewildered.

“Darling,” Peace says from behind me. I twist to see him crouched, staring at me sadly.

I get to my knees and take in his expression. He looks exhausted. How is that possible when they’re both spirits?

“What’s happening to you?” I reach through the bars and cup his cheek in my hand. His eyes close as he rests against it. His skin feels chilled and I’m not sure if it’s from the wind we just came from or not.

“Do not say it,” Vendetta grits out.

Peace gives me a grim smile and stands, backing away from me.

“Let me,” Mal puts a hand on Vendetta’s shoulder to pull him away. It seems easy to do. It shouldn’t be. Vendetta is a force.

  “No,” Sparky whines.

She’s sapping them. They don’t have bodies as a buffer. If this keeps up they’ll fade away.

Sparky and I look at each other as Mal breathes fire, trying to melt the bars away. They’re unaffected by anything they try.

A chess piece rolls off of the desk and bounces between us.

I pick it up as Sparky huddles between my knees, saddened by our realization.

The pawn piece is joined by another and they begin cracking into pieces in my hands. I can hear her laughing but I don’t respond this time. One way or another she is going to take them all away from me.

I focus on all the bonds and begin feeding energy directly to V and Peace. I can feel them flickering from inside myself as if they’re like Sparky, ready to go out at a moment’s notice. I fill them back up and lay down next to Sparky. She’s smaller and we huddle together as I debate on what to do next.

“Wake up,” I look at King as he and Mal have a quiet debate in the corner.

“We aren’t done yet, don’t give up,” Aodhan argues.

“Just you stay then,” I point at King and they all look at each other angrily.

“Why, dorogoya?” Mitri asks and reaches in to take the pawn out of my hand. He looks at it for a second before his eyes snap to mine. We have a moment of understanding between us but he shakes his head.

“We have taken a sleep potion. We cannot wake yet.”

My eyes squeeze tight and all I want to do is curse but I can’t find the energy right now.

“Try and think of something more useful,” V’s voice is harsh with anger.

I think I don’t want them to disappear because of me.

I can hear the shovel hit the casket and curl around Sparky.

  Sparky: “We are one.”

“We are one,” I agree and watch the males take in our new location.

Sparky: “No, we are all one.”

She rolls to be in my line of sight. The rest fades away behind a gray mist.

  “What do you mean?”

“We are her and she is us. We are all in one vessel. Our body. Our mind.”

I struggle to sit up, weaker than before.

  “Our memories.”

  Sparky: “King’s power.”

  “A new cage.”

  Sparky: “Yes.”

  “Let’s do it.”

I cross my legs and the mist clears, revealing a lot of males yelling various versions of my name.

“Hey,” I interrupt their unanimous meltdown with a wave. “We’re about to go on a head trip so get ready.”

“What?” Peace asks and scratches the back of his head. He’s out of breath which is weird to see.

Mitri tilts his head and steps closer, taking one bar in his hand. “Hold the cage.”

No one bothers to argue, which is nice, and I close my eyes to start thinking of something fitting.

  Not Leng.

A frozen wind cuts through me.

  “Hate this place,” Mal snarls.

  Not the house.

“Where the fuck are we?” Peace asks.

“Kenneth Wulff’s home. Not here, dorogoya.”

  The bully’s house?

“We’re going too fast, omae. Slow down or you’ll lose too much energy.”

  Something she can’t escape from.

“Feck me, not here mo chroí.”

I open my eyes to take in the room. Right in front of me is the tank, open and waiting. There aren’t any scientists here to toss me inside. It’s perfect.

I feel her try to take over and I keep focused on the tank.

  Sparky: “Now.”

  “Yup.”

“What are you two doing?” Mal snaps.

  King grins at me. “Perfect.”

“We think so,” Sparky and I say at the same time. “Now she can suffer as we did.”

“I thought you were the innocent one,” Mal gives the fireball in my lap a wary look.

  “We adapt.”

“How do we get her here?” Aodhan chokes out. He’s focused only on me, trying not to pay attention to the tank at all.

“We’ll be prey.” Sparky and I smile proudly at the same time.

I lay back and stack my hands under my head, crossing my ankles to get comfortable. This is like camping without all of the fun.

Sparky: “We won’t be able to help after this.”

“Worth it,” I start humming a song and start sending out all of my energy to them through the bonds, weakening myself in a steady push with a smile.

  King

Our mate is something fearsome to behold. Selfless in a way that frightens me. I’m not the only one affected by it.

“Stop,” Vendetta snaps and tries to shake the cage where she lies, happily singing just under her breath.

“Darling, please,” Peacemaker kneels above her head.

  She ignores them all.

I can feel a swell to my power as a wave of energy passes through me and into Mal. I can almost see its path as it rounds us all and multiplies.
