Murders & Romance, page 34
Isaac took her hand from his face and kissed her palm.
“And I always will, darlin’. You are my whole world, Sidney. I lived like a hermit or a monk for so many years. In a lot of ways I was afraid of interacting with the world around me. Afraid of being touched or of touching others. Locked inside the prison of my own body. And then you came along and freed me. You freed me, Sidney, and you opened up the world to me. I love you so much.”
“I love you back, baby. And I cannot wait to become Mrs. Isaac Taylor.”
“Isaac and Sidney Taylor.”
“Detective Sgt. and Mrs. Ike Taylor.”
“It all has a very nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”
“It most certainly does. And it’ll be official in less than two months time.”
“Can’t come soon enough for me.”
“No?”
“Hell no. I can’t wait to marry you, and raise a family with you, and grow old with you.”
“Ooh. Well, that might be a problem.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I don’t plan to grow old. I’m going to grow more fabulous, but I’m not going to get wrinkled and gray.”
“Oh, I see. Well that’s ok. I’ll grow old and gray and wrinkled, and you can be this fabulous, snazzy-dressed, jazzy grandma type with the old geezer of a husband. How’s that?”
“Can you imagine being a grandpa someday? Telling our grandkids all about how we fell in love, and the adventures we had when we first met?”
“I wonder if I’ll be teaching one of our grandkids the ins and outs of being a hype, the way my grandad is with me.”
“You aren’t going to have to go through what Sterling and your dad did. None of our kids are going to be ashamed of your superpowers, baby. I won’t allow it. I’ll make sure they know how special and important those abilities are.”
“Maybe none of our kids will even have the freaky abilities anyway. Then we won’t have to worry about it at all.”
“Or maybe all of our kids will have your abilities. Did you ever think of that?”
Isaac groaned, and Sidney stared at him.
“Ike, would you really not want to pass your abilities on to our children?”
“Their lives would be much simpler without them, Sidney. You have to realize that.”
“Of course I realize that. But simpler isn’t always better. Your psychic abilities are what make you unique, baby. And you can do such incredible things. Your abilities saved my life on more than one occasion. I believe that when you’ve finally mastered them, they will become a source of strength for you, and give you a power like you’ve never known. Just like what happened with that home invasion guy, and the telekinesis.”
“You’re startin’ to sound like Geneviève now.”
Isaac looked into her eyes, and Sidney wondered what he was thinking. He reached out and ran a single finger over her cheek.
“You’re so amazing, Sidney.”
He changed the subject, and Sidney wasn’t going to let him get away with that.
But then his lips touched hers, soft and firm. Their tongues slow danced.
She moaned as his hands roamed her body, caressing her hip, her waist, her breast.
He trailed kisses across her jaw to her earlobe and down her neck.
Sidney touched him everywhere, allowing her hands to travel the taut muscles of his back down to his firm ass, and loving the soft moans of appreciation that move always drew from him.
He’d told her once that feeling her hands on his bare naked flesh was sometimes more orgasmic for him than an actual release, and Sidney loved that her touch had the power to do that to him.
He enveloped her nipple with his mouth, and the warm heat of it seared her skin.
She hissed and arched her back, pressing her breast into his face, silently begging for more.
“I love you, Isaac. I love the way you make love to me.”
“Mmm.”
It was his only response before he entered her.
Eyes locked together, he filled her completely, and Sidney widened her legs and lifted her hips, adjusting to the sheer size of him.
They stared into each other’s eyes for the longest time, never looking away as their bodies moved in concert, writhing together. With every thrust, he pushed her higher, drove her further over the edge.
They went over the cliff of ecstasy as one, moaning out a duet as their bodies sailed through the air.
A single drop of sweat left a strand of his hair and hit her cheek, and Sidney smiled at him.
Isaac lowered his full weight down on top of her, still staring into her eyes. He kissed her lips and grinned.
“I hope we just made a baby.”
His sweet words were whispered, and the spark of wonder in his grey eyes twinkled at her. Sidney giggled and ran her fingers through his damp hair.
“So do I.”

CURSES & VOWS
Book 6 Sneak Peek
“Isaac?”
“Hey, darlin’. You still up?”
He glanced around the well-appointed guest room and felt nothing but loneliness.
“I’m just crawling into bed now. Not that I’ll be able to sleep much. Our bed feels very cold and lonely without you.”
“Tell me about it. I feel like a stranger in a strange land over here.”
“I’m sure Bree and Adam have done everything they can to make you comfortable in their guest room.”
“Oh, they have. And Grandad’s just across the hall in the other guest room. But I’m missing your sweet-smelling, soft, warm body. I got nothing to curl up to over here but a pillow, and that is no kind of substitute for you.”
Sidney giggled, and sound of it made him smile.
“It’s just one night. And think about it… this time tomorrow, you and I will be Mr. and Mrs. You’ll be completely stuck with me then.”
“I can’t wait to be completely and totally stuck with you, forever. But what I’d like to know is who came up with this rule that the bride and groom aren’t allowed to see each other the day before the wedding? That’s a load of superstitious crap right there.”
He could hear the frustration in his own voice, but it couldn’t be helped. Sidney laughed at him.
“I’ve missed you today too, baby. But I think the tradition goes back to when marriages were arranged and the families didn’t want the couple to see each other beforehand out of fear they’d back out if they saw who they were marrying. Terrifying prospect if you ask me.”
“Aw, hell. And here we are, a hundred years later, still suffering ’cause they weren’t allowed to choose for themselves? Forget that, I’m coming home.”
“Isaac! You can’t.”
“Well, why the hell not? It’s not like it’s actually bad luck or anything.”
“How do you know that? And after everything that’s already gone wrong with this wedding, and the unwelcome family surprises? I just don’t want to tempt fate, or… you know… piss it off.”
Isaac’s righteous indignation deflated like she’d popped his bubble with a giant spitball.
“It’s just one night, baby. And think about how much sweeter tomorrow night will be when we’re finally married and alone, and on our way to… wherever our honeymoon is.”
Isaac laughed out loud.
“Nice try, darlin’, but I’m still not telling you where we’re going.”
“But I don’t even know if I’ve packed the right things, Ike! You could at least give me a hint.”
“I did give you a hint. I told you that all you really need is a bikini and a toothbrush. Mostly just the toothbrush, ’cause I don’t expect to let you leave the room too often.”
Sidney’s sexy giggle connected with his dick, and he stifled a groan.
“So, since you’re making me endure this torture of sleeping without you tonight, I was wondering…”
His voice trailed off as he wondered exactly how to ask this question. He had no clue how men actually set these things up.
“Yes?”
“Well, do you remember back when we first got together? Um, back when I was still very awkward about… well, about sex and being intimate, and all that?”
“Yes.”
He could hear the curiosity in her voice, and it only made him more nervous. He licked his lips and softly cleared his throat before trying again.
“Well, you said that if there was ever anything that I wanted to try, I should just tell you?”
“Isaac, is there something special you’re wanting to try when we’re on our honeymoon?”
“Well actually…”
“Maybe a little anal play perhaps?”
Heart stopped.
Thoughts gone.
Words forgotten.
“A… a little what now?”
Had she said those words, or had he imagined them? Was she still talking?
“…I mean, I’ve never done that before, but I know you’re really kind of an ass man, and I think…”
“Sidney, stop. Talking. Please. I-I can’t think when you say things like that.”
Her soft, sexy laughter only made things worse, and he repositioned the wood between his legs.
“Isaac, you’re not being bashful right now, are you?”
“A little. I mean, this isn’t exactly a normal conversation. And that’s not what I was getting at, although now it’s all I can think about.”
Sidney laughed even harder.
“So, what were you getting at then?”
“Well, I was hinting at… you know… phone sex.”
“Ohhh!”
“Yeah.”
“Well, do you want to know what I’m wearing?”
Her voice was suddenly breathy and hyper-sexy, and Isaac just had to laugh. And he was certain that was the wrong response.
“What’s funny? I’m trying to start the phone sex conversation here.”
“How do you switch gears like that so quickly? Doesn’t anything ever faze you, darlin’?”
“Only scary bad things. But stuff like this? Sexy, secret stuff between you and me? That doesn’t faze me one bit, Isaac. Why should I be embarrassed or shy with you, baby? You’re the man I love, the man I want to share all of me with, body and soul. I want to do everything I can to give you physical pleasure. Especially knowing that you were deprived of it for so long. Tell me what you want, and I’ll do my best to give it to you.”
Isaac swallowed and wished like hell that they were together.
“God, I wish we were in the same house right now. Are you sure you won’t let me come home? Not even for a few hours? No one will even know but you and me.”
Sidney laughed at him, and Isaac grinned.
“Baby?”
“Yes, darlin’?”
“What are you wearing?”
