I guess I had stared for a while since Megan was growing uncomfortable under my gaze as her cheeks turned red.

"W..what?", she stuttered pushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

I smiled dreamily and said, "Have I ever told you how incredible you are?", she grinned and I started to dive into the delicious food placed in front of me.

I took my first bite, and I was blown away. I would not be surprised if my jaw had reached the floor.

"WOW", I muttered with a mouthful.

"This is so good, Megan", I said, wiping the tip of my mouth with a napkin.

"Where did you learn to cook this well? This is the best meal I've had in a while. WOW, this is SO good, Meg. Thank you!" Megan just giggled at my response.

I swear I have never had a meal this good before. She is such a good cook. It was mouth-watering.

"I've always loved cooking, so I self-taught myself by reading cookbooks and watching YouTube, also recently through TikTok," Megan said while I was devouring the food like a wild animal, making her chuckle at my excitement.

"If only I knew you could cook like this, I would have made you my personal chef", I said with a raised brow. Megan laughed at that and shoved me by the shoulders.

"Who knew you were such a flirt?"

"It's all part of my charm", I shrugged my shoulders.

"Hmm, you've hidden it from me quite well then", she said surprised by how much I have dropped my walls down when I'm around her.

I kept moaning at every bite I took and Megan just giggled and smiled at my amusing antics.

Once I was done enjoying my lunch, Megan invited me over for dinner that night since I told her I would just order and pick up a regular pizza on my way home, which caused her to give me a disinterested look.

And the day went by with Megan's amazing cooking skills.

  Thank you...

  Megan P.O.V

The bell rang in the hallways reminding me that the day has come to an end. So I quickly wished my students a very happy weekend since it's Friday, and told them to complete their homework and submit it on my table the next Monday.

Once all the students left, I closed the door to my classroom and began packing my things to leave home. While I was cleaning the dust off from my desk, my phone vibrated and my ringtone blaring in my back pocket.

I picked it up and noticed a call from an unknown number.

  Who would this be?

While I was wondering whether to answer or not, the call got cut.

I thought to ignore this, it may have been a wrong number or some customer service. So I put the phone down and began to continue cleaning.

A few seconds later, it rang again and I picked it up this time before the call got canceled.

"Hel.." before I could answer, I heard someone crying out in pain. My heart rate increased and wild thoughts began to cloud my mind.

"Hello, who is this? Are you okay?" I rushed my sentence not knowing how to help through a phone call.

The voice tried to calm down from being so breathless and I could hear them sighing loudly began clearing their throat to answer, "it..its Alex..s..she and I were", inhaling, "we were driving...and some t.thing crashed on us", she sighed and my heart dropped hearing Alex's name.

I was shaking so bad that I couldn't think anything anymore, my mind wandered to Alex, and tears were about to spill on the thought that something bad happened to Alex.

I had to compose myself before I lose my mind, or else I don't know.

I cleared my throat, not wanting to panic whoever was on the other side of the phone with my anxious self, "what happened? is Alex okay? where are you guys?"

I asked holding my breath, praying for Alex to be fine with minor injuries.

"The amb...ambulance just arrived....and Lex fell unconscious after telling me to call you"

My heart skipped a beat hearing that. I fell on my knees unexpectedly after hearing that.

"W..which hospital?" I tried my best to hear the hospital name clearly and I rushed out of my classroom with nothing but just my phone still on my ears and car keys.

I bolted out of the car park and headed straight to the hospital, trying my best to clear all the negative thoughts running in my head. Tears were streaming down my cheek and onto my chin at the thought of what would I do if she didn't make it.

God, please. I can't be without her. PLEASE SAVE HER

  Alex, I can't lose you

  I love you, so much

I was sobbing on the way to the hospital. I cannot lose her, she's everything to me.

And finally, I was nearing the hospital. I parked the car somewhere and jolted out of it the moment I shut the engine. I don't even remember if I had locked it, I ran to the lobby and asked for her.

"Alexandra Garcia", I told her name to the receptionist in a hysterical state.

The attendee looked up the monitor and guided me through the hallway to where Alex has been kept.

The attendee knew I was not in the right mind or calm enough to walk by myself, thus she held my shoulders and walked along with me. Three doors down and we stopped in front of the fourth door, she knocked it twice and twisted the knob open, pulled the door, and lead me in.

There she was, unconsciously lying on the hospital bed, with her left arm bandaged, a gauze plastered on her forehead, covered in bruises and abrasions all over her.

My heart dropped looking at the state she was in, and I quickly moved to be near Alex. I cupped her cheeks tenderly, looking for any sign of movement. I finally let my tears flow freely from the time I left school.

It took me a few minutes to calm myself down, and suddenly, I felt the slight movement on the bed, alerting me that Alex was gaining consciousness.

Before I could press the button to call the doctors in, Alex's eyes began to open slowly, her eyes squinted, adjusting to the light shining in the room.

"hey" Alex breathed out raspily and I shook my head not to stress herself.

"shhh...relax, I'm here, just relax", I whispered as I didn't trust my voice, my eyelids were already filled with tears just waiting to spill anytime.

I inhaled a long breathe and pressed the button to call the doctors in to examine Alex.

Alex lifted her stronger hand up to my cheeks and wiped off the tears that ran down without me knowing. I smiled at the motion and pressed my cheek more into her palm, enjoying her strokes while the sob was just building in me, waiting to be released.

"Megan,.." she gasped out, holding my hands in hers.

"Look at me... I'm fine, Megan", I sobbed out holding her hands, nodding my head acknowledging that she's fine, but I can't help it, I was worried sick when I got the phone call.

"shhh... Meg, calm down, I'm fine really, it was just a minor accident, look at me, I'm fine now", Alex calmed me down but I couldn't help but feel too sick to my stomach at the thought I could have lost her.

My body was shaking, I was sobbing so hard, my heart ached and my eyes hurt, but I couldn't stop them. The tears were just spilling on their own.

Alex embraced me tightly and made me lie on top of her body, pulling me closer trying to calm me, but that action just escalated my sobs even more.

Eventually, the doctors walked in. I pulled myself back, allowing them to examine her, and wiped my tears off with the back of my palm, feeling embarrassed that they had to see me like that. I moved back and waited for the result.

A few minutes later, the doctor approached me.

"Mrs. Garcia?" the doctor asked, shocking me, I blushed at the name and responded.

"Uh no.. we are not married yet, she's my girlfriend," I said correcting the doctor's assumption.

he smiled and continued, "sorry for assuming, but you two make a beautiful couple", I looked down, can't stop my smile from growing any bigger.

"She's fine though, no need to worry much. She's lucky that it was just a minor accident if it was any bigger than this, then maybe, just maybe she wouldn't be here smiling at you right now" and immediately my heart dropped from just hearing that.

The doctor continued, "As you can see, she's got a fracture on her left arm from the impact when the car overturned, and she cut her head a little when she hit on the steering wheel, so got herself some stitches. Other than that, we took a scan for any sort of internal injuries, and the results showed nothing. So, just for tonight, be with her, just to ensure she is not having any concussion, cause she may have one. And if she has one, we need to get her treated. For now, she's fine and yes you can take her home tomorrow."

I felt relieved hearing that, "Thank you!", I smiled and he walked away waving at the both of us.

"See, I told you I'm fine," Alex said pulling me closer to her.

I stood beside her bed and sighed loudly, "I'm glad you're fine, Alex. What happened? Were you driving too fast?" I glared at her, "where were you going so fast? You're lucky this didn't turn out to be a major crash" I shoved her shoulders for making me so worried.

She just smiled and made me sit on the bed, taking my hands in her, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you."

I pouted and pecked her cheek slowly, thanking God for keeping her in one piece.

Alex pulled me closer, and I breathed in her scent, feeling relieved again. She made me feel at home.

I just remembered something, so I pulled back and asked "Where were you going? weren't you supposed to be at the office? who were you with?"

  Who was it?

  Alex P.O.V

"Where were you going? weren't you supposed to be at the office? who were you with?"

Her questions made me think twice about what happened and how did I end up in the accident.

Do I tell her? What if she gets the wrong idea and leaves me? Just like everyone else. . .

"Al... hey I'm not going anywhere?" Megan assured me as if she heard me saying it out loud

  Did I say it out?

"Alex, what's wrong?" Megan asked me again, shaking my shoulders softly, pulling me out of my head.

"No, I'm fine. Have you had your lunch?", that's my poor try on changing the topic.

She scrunched her eyebrows together, knowing well that I'm trying to avoid the topic. Her shoulders dropped, and I smiled internally for successfully avoiding the topic, for now.

She sighed heavily before responding back to me, "no,..I was about to go home and cook lunch when I got the call, I left everything at work and rushed here as fast as I could" she said, brushing my hair back tenderly, making me drowsier by every stroke.

"Go to sleep, babe. I will be here when you wake up." Megan said noticing my lids slowly losing their strength to keep my eyes open.

I nodded slowly, and sooner than I know I fell into a deep sleep within seconds.

  Megan P.O.V

As much as I am relieved that Alex is fine, there was still something restless in me.

Why was she avoiding what happened before the accident? Will she ever tell me?

I kept stroking her hair slowly, just the way she likes and I heard my phone vibrating in my handbag.

I moved away slowly from the bed, walked to the table where I drastically dropped my bag on when I entered earlier.

I didn't even thank the receptionist for helping me out earlier

I took my phone out just to see my dad's name appearing on my screen. I slide the screen and answered.

  "Hello"

"Megan, where are you?", my father's voice rang calmly through my phone, made me guess that he probably didn't know what happened to Alex yet.

"Dad, please don't get panic" I warned before informing him cause he cared about Alex, more like she's another daughter to him.

"Megan, what's wrong? Are you okay?" and there he goes, getting panic when I literally said not to.

"Dad, I'm fine, it's not me. It's Alex, she was in a minor accident" I spilled out as quickly as possible to not get him more worked out.

"WHAT? IS SHE ALRIGHT?" he spoke out in a higher-pitched voice like he always does when something shocks him.

"Dad, calm down. She's okay, we are at the hospital now. And she's getting some rest. I'm here and she's fine, really. But I'm afraid she would have to skip work for a couple of days. Is that alright?" I asked dad knowing fully well that he would not oppose her from getting some time off.

"Of course, Megan. Get her rested as much as she needs. Her health comes first. You take care of yourself and her, too." Dad reminded.

See, I told you, he loves her more.

"Sure, dad!" I groaned out but honestly, I was happy that he cared about her, about my girlfriend.

"Call me if you need anything, honey. I'll drop by after work later." He told me to keep him updated and ended the call.

I put the phone away and relaxed back on the single armchair, laying my tensed shoulders, unwinding from everything that happened today.

I shut my eyes close to relaxing and sleep kicked in within seconds. I dropped my head back on the chair, bringing my legs up and I fell asleep.

  - A FEW HOURS LATER -

  Alex P.O.V

Some rustlings woke me up from a deep sleep. It was the nurse, she came in to check on my vitals and changed the IV bottle. I sat up straight, smiled at the nurse thanking her for the service. I stretched out my good hand, rubbed my fractured hand a bit, it felt numb and itchy since I was having the brace on.

When I moved to sit up a little straighter to stretch out my legs, I felt a sudden shot of throbbing pain in my head, the side where I had stitches on.

I winced in pain and the nurse noticed it, she quickly took my meds and a bottle of water placed on the small table beside my bed and gave it to me to take. I drank it in a gulp hoping it would ease my pain quickly.

"Thank you" I whispered to the nurse hoarsely.

She smiled and nodded, "Is that your wife?", she asked pointing to the direction she looked.

Megan was sound asleep on the armchair, it looked so uncomfortable and yet her face glowed.

  So beautiful

I chuckled and shook my head no, "not yet, she's my girlfriend" I told the nurse.

"Don't wait too long. I've seen many couples throughout the years working here. And she's one of the few that actually shows the love she has for you, just by looking at her eyes. I saw it from a distance and I envy you for having such a person. She hasn't moved an inch ever since she came in, it's like you are everything to her, only you." the nurse said.

I nodded, speechless hearing what the nurse had to say about Megan. And the nurse left shortly after making sure I'm all good for another few hours without any meds.

I laid my back on the bed head, feeling guilty for not being completely honest with her.

She deserves to know. But will she try to understand me?

Should I tell her who was with me earlier and where were we going?

Sprock! Where is she? I tried to find my phone everywhere I could without moving off my bed, I don't think I have the strength yet to use my legs.

I didn't even realize Megan was waking up at all the noises I made until she stood at my side looking down at me like I did something that I never should in the first place.

"What are you doing, Alex?" Megan hissed looking at my legs which were dropped to the side of the bed like I was going for a walk.

"Uhm...have you seen my phone? I can't seem to find it" I said out frustrated I woke her up and I couldn't find it.

Megan stared at me with a hand on her hips, like I was insane, "Were you just about to wake up to look for your phone?"

I gulped down not sure what to answer her.

Her stare is threatening when she wants to be

"Here", she handed me my bag with my things and phone," the nurse gave it to me when I came", she huffed at me disapprovingly and dropped the things on the edge of the bed.

I tugged at her hand back when she was about to turn around, she looked at my hand that pat the space beside me, asking her to sit.

"Megan, are you okay?" I asked when her shoulders dropped with a loud sigh after taking a seat.

She looked back at me, "You're not telling me something, and I don't want to sound pushy. But, will you tell me what is it when you're ready?"

"Of course Meg, trust me it's nothing really, but just give me some time, and I'll tell you", I stroked her hand with my thumb in a relaxing manner. She smiled at the motion, though it didn't reach her eyes, it was still something.

"How are you feeling now? any pain?" Megan asked

"Not really. My head was throbbing when I moved to stretch earlier, and the nurse was here so she gave me the painkillers, I feel so much better now with all the pains under control", I told her everything except for that part where the nurse spoke about not letting her wait much longer for me.

"Why didn't you wake me? I'm sorry I dozed off. I was supposed to keep an eye on you" Megan started blaming herself for not looking after me when she was tired too.
