Epilogue

I hold the gas can, pouring it over the mess I made. Over the years I’ve learned to clean up my own messes. And there have been many messes to clean. My life was never roses and hearts. I suppose at one point in time it might have been but that was before my cracked out mother dumped me on a goddamn doorstep and took off. I was raised by an elderly couple that couldn’t see half the shit I did because they were that old. I lived my life the way I wanted to and I didn’t give a shit about them but the first time Mr. Harding had a fucking heart attack, I nearly died myself. I couldn’t believe he almost died and I was a complete shitface to him. I hated myself for that but I never said I was sorry. I couldn’t. That wasn’t me and I think the day he took his last breath, he knew.
He looked at me with those big green eyes full of tears with his weathered wrinkled skin slowly fading away. I clung to the hope that he would go quickly. He did. And she followed not long after.
I was left to my own devices after that and I found myself as part of a Royal Devils. I wasn’t born into this shit like most of the guys around here.
I light my cigarette and take a long drag before flicking the match toward the house. Then I step back and watch it ignite and burn. There’s something sweet about watching a fire. I suppose that’s the reason I got the road name, Burn. It’s what I do and I’m good at it. I take a long drawl from my cigarette and cock my head to the side watching the colors as they lick the sky. There’s a beauty in the burn and I love it. Even the ashes. Picking them up and letting them sift through your fingers, there’s an air of finality in them. You did this. I did this. I ended a life that didn’t have the right to be alive to begin with. He was useless and now he will burn for eternity if not for a little while in the manmade hell I just sparked for him.
“Good riddance motherfucker,” I growl before flicking my cigarette into the flames and turning on my heel. I’m back at my bike, ready to ride in no time with the heat of the fire at my back. If Ruger, from the Soulless Bastards were here, that son of a bitch would be proud of me burning it down but not before fucking that little prick with a broomstick. Yeah, he would be goddamn proud of me today.
Tugging my helmet on, I take one last look over my shoulder before I hear the sirens in the distance. It’s time to ride and get the hell out of here if I know what’s good for me. As the Prez, I can do whatever the fuck I want, even burning down goddamn houses. Sure I have people that do this for me but this bastard made it personal and I repaid that debt. A debt that I was owed.
Revving the bike, I pull off down the road and out onto the highway. Cars line the fucking road, goddamn rush hour. I cut the lanes, riding as fast as I can but not enough to draw attention from the cops. That’s some shit I don’t need.
Finding my exit, I swerve off and take it, heading down the block toward the clubhouse. We’re right in the middle of town and just how I like it. They can see me. They know me. They know we’re here and that we aren’t going anywhere. I make our presence known when need be and I keep it locked down when we don’t. That’s the beauty of being the President of the Royal Devils Central Coast California Chapter. We run wild and we play hard. We fuck with a determination that not many others have. We love with all our hearts but we also don’t take any shit. Cross one, you cross all. Fuck us over and you’ll end up in a back alley somewhere.
Some days I wonder if we’re too harsh, too evil but at the end of the day we handle business accordingly and we live by our man made rules. No one can touch us and if they dare try we’ll leave them in a pile of ash just like that motherfucker I just left. They will need to ID him by his teeth and his teeth only because I made sure no other part of him was identifiable.
Pulling into the parking lot, I pull down the ramp into our underground parking and park my bike. No one gets near our bikes down here. That’s why I had it built this way. Pulling my helmet off, I stroll into the addition to our clubhouse underground. It was smart on my part to do this when I took over as Prez. The addition allowed us a place to be safe during lock downs when needed. No one could get to us and no one could penetrate the bottom level.
I stroll through the door and find my brothers, my boys. The only real family I have sitting around shooting the shit. That’s when Outlaw’s eyes find mine. I give him a quick nod letting him know the situation is handled. As my VP he should have been in on that kill but I wouldn’t allow it. It was too close for him and that never ends well on our parts.
“You straight?” I nod my head when he asks, passing me a beer. I tip it to my lips and take a long pull.
“It was perfect. You should have seen it. The motherfucker never saw me comin’,” I tell him. He smiles and nods his head.
“I owe you one.”
“Like fuck you do. We’re brothers. We help each other just like always. You just remind that little girl when she has nightmares that the monster is fuckin’ dead. He won’t ever hurt her again.” Outlaw nods his head, swallowing hard before turning and walking away. That shit was personal to him too. That piece of shit bastard molested his little sister. I’ve been trailing his ass ever since we found out and she wasn’t the only one. I may be a sick bastard but kids are off limits in my world. Some clubs don’t mind that shit but here? You’ll end up six feet under if you mess with a kid. We don’t go that route and when it hits home we handle it. Just like that motherfucker.
“Hey Burn. You want me to suck you off?” Dana, a club whore asks when she sees me. I shake my head and pull my joint from behind my ear, sticking it in my mouth.
“Got shit to do, darlin’,” I tell her as I light up.

My desk is covered in paperwork. The more I move around the more there is. I suppose that’s on me for running legitimate operations for the club. We aren’t just one of those outlaw clubs, we also have legit businesses too and that pisses off some of our rivals. Not really my fault that they can’t keep their shit together long enough to do what we do. Our side gigs are illegal and so is the killing but that goes under the goddamn radar most of the time. This town sees us as more than just street thugs like the local police see. Although I have some of those shady fucks under my belt too.
“You need any help with that? My girl is pretty good with numbers,” Snoop says as he glances at the piles of paperwork on my desk. Tatianna. His old lady or at least that’s what I assume she is.
“Yeah, send her in.” I don’t look up, instead I grab the bottle of whiskey and pour myself a glass just as Tia walks in. My nickname for her. She’s sexy as fuck. Long tanned legs, perfect olive skin. Maybe you can already picture it but I have a thing for this girl. We flirted back in the day when she first came around, I had a thing for her but she went to Snoop like a goddamn magnet seeking each other out. I don’t know what it is that pissed me off more. The fact that he treated her a little like shit or the fact that I want her more than I can think.
Tia stands with her arms crossed over her chest glaring at me. I find it amusing the way she looks at me with something that resembles hatred but that can’t be right. She doesn’t hate me.
“Your man said you would be able to help me out,” I tell her bringing the glass to my lips, swallowing the liquid before pouring another glass. Tia rolls her eyes and walks over, sitting in the chair in front of my desk.
“Are you going to drink the whole damn time?”
“Do you care?”
“Not in the slightest,” she snaps grabbing a handful of papers. I watch her flipping through the pages, her eyes scanning each one. I sit back in my chair, relaxing while I take her in. She’s wearing that little white tank top with the skinny straps that shows off her chest. I find myself taking her tits in, the way her nipples harden in front of me.
“Stop eyeing my tits if you want my help.”
“Stop lettin’ your nipples get hard if I don’t affect you,” I remind her. She’s made it clear that I don’t bother her in any shape or form but if that’s the truth this connection wouldn’t be here. This feeling that we both have wouldn’t be charging the goddamn air around us. Another glass of whiskey and I’m ready for her to leave. I don’t want her in my space unless she’s on her knees or under me.
“Can you help or not?” I ask before she looks up. Those almond eyes burn into my soul and I think she can see it. The black tarnished mess that is me.
“Who is the last person to help with this?” She asks flipping a few more pages.
“I fired the cunt over a year ago. She wasn’t doin’ her job. Spent more time on her knees than doin’ the paperwork,” I inform her. She shakes her head and goes back to looking over the papers.
“When you fired her, who took over?”
“You’re lookin’ at him.”
“You messed up this badly? Big bad biker can’t do numbers,” she says sarcastically. Then I’m on my feet. Moving toward her, I pull her from the chair, the papers falling to the floor as I hold her around the throat in front of me. I can feel her pulse thumping under my fingertips.
“I don’t like your attitude, Tia.”
“Don’t call me that,” she hisses.
“Or what? What’s gonna happen? You’re pretty little pussy gonna drip all over my floor? You gonna get all hot and bothered with me this close to you?”
“Not even close. I hate you. You’re sick and disgusting and you use women to your advantage. I don’t ever want to be a notch on someone’s bed post.” I can sense the serious tone in her voice and it makes me laugh. A fucking actual laugh that I haven’t heard from myself in a very long time.
“You think you’re more than that to Snoop? Of all the motherfuckers in this place?” I ask with the hint of amusement in my tone.
“You don’t know shit about me and him,” she hisses through her clenched teeth. God, she’s fucking sexy as hell.
“I know he likes to fuck and not just with you darlin’.” Her big eyes slowly fall closed as she lets out a breath. Bet she didn’t know her man sleeps around a lot around here when she isn’t around. I hate to be the one to break it to her. Never mind, I want to be the one to break her little heart in two.
“You’re lying.”
“Am I? Have you asked him? I’m pretty sure that if you asked the whores they could give you an earful,” I tell her watching the pain in her eyes. She might not want to hear it but I’m telling her anyway.
“I trust him.” Now I snort a laugh. She trusts him. Isn’t that sweet.
“You’ll learn the hard way that you should never trust anyone, Tia. They will break your heart and stomp it into the fuckin’ ground. Everyone walks away from you at some point.”
“Is that why your so jaded? Someone break your little heart?” she asks in return. I ignore her words, releasing her throat but she isn’t done. “Who hurt you? Who left you and broke your little heart, Burn?” I take a step back and let out a breath that I’d been holding.
“You gonna help or keep talkin’?” I ask when I’ve had enough of her little interrogation. Memories of the past, of the loneliness I felt seep into my mind. Memories of them, my foster parents. The way I watched them die and the things I felt. So many emotions.
“I shouldn’t trust you,” she says softly.
“You’re right. You shouldn’t. I’ll tear you apart and you will never be whole again, Tia. Nothin’ good comes from guys like me. Just remember that,” I tell her. She nods her head once and bends down to pick up the papers she dropped earlier Her tits are on full display and I take the chance to eye those fuckers too. She’s gorgeous and she has to know that men look at her. If she didn’t know then I’d think she were high or fucking drunk.
“You have a thing for tits?”
“Just yours it seems,” I ogle her a little more. I can’t help it. I’m a man what more can I say.
“You want help or not asshole?”
“Yeah, uptight ass I do. I’m gonna start callin’ your ass nun Tia.”
“Fuck you.”
“Name the time and place sweetheart.”

I watched her for hours working on paperwork in my office. Something about that long dark hair was begging me to pull it and god help me I almost did. I almost reached out and grabbed a handful and drug her to my cock.
“Where’s your head at?” Outlaw asks when he comes taking a seat next to me at the bar.
“On ass and titties.”
“Ain’t it always?”
“Pretty much. What else do I have to live for, brother?” He chuckles and starts ringing his tattooed hands together in front of him. “What is it?”
“Mom called. Said Jewel has been havin’ a hard time sleepin’ at night. Wettin’ the bed and shit,” he says. Shit.
“Damn. She seein’ someone for that? I know that shit has to be hard as fuck on her. She’s only a kid, man.” He nods his head fully understanding since it is his sister. She was taken and molested not long ago by a guy that the family sort of knew. Same guy I burnt to a goddamn crisp the other night.
“She is. Doc said it will happen for a while. Didn’t know how long.”
“Goddamn man. I’m sorry. I don’t know what to say about that shit. Wish I could help somehow.” I really do want to help. I hate that a little girl is scared to leave her house. I hate that she can’t even go to school for fear that man will be there when all I want to do is to tell her that man will never hurt her or anyone else for that matter. If only it was that easy.
“You did enough, brother. I would have lost it completely if I had to face that motherfucker. In fact, I’m thinkin’ we need to go all Dexter on these motherfuckers.”
“Can you get information like that?” I ask curious as to his answer. This might be something we can work with. I don’t like child predators any more than the next person I just happen to have the resources to handle them.
“Pretty sure Angela can. She works with the court systems,” he adds. Shit I forgot about that little Devil chaser. That’s what we call the whores around here and Angela just so happens to work at the courthouse.
“Bring it to the table. I don’t see why the guys would turn that shit down. Just because we’re legal on shit don’t mean we won’t go a little off road, yeah?” His smile is bright as he nods his head at me.
“Hell yeah. I think it’ll be a nice little side gig, yeah?” I chuckle as I nod my head and reach for my drink. Bringing the glass to my lips, I swallow down the Jack and set the cup back on the counter.
“Sounds like a good goddamn time too. We got the fair comin’ up and that’s a three-day event but after that we should be open to anything, brother.” The fair. Who the fuck would have thought the local MC would run a goddamn fair but it’s a legit source of our income. We run it throughout the year but once a year we have a big ass event that lasts three days. We go all out too.
“These events get bigger and wilder, yeah?”
“Sure as fuck do. I’m in the dome this year.”
“No shit?”
“No shit and I’m gonna get Tia’s Nun actin’ ass in the middle dressed like a goddamn stripper,” I tell him with a smirk on my face.
“Snoop gonna let that fly?” I shrug. I don’t give a fuck what Snoop has to say. She wants to be here then she’s a part of this shit. Otherwise she knows where the door is. We all pull our own weight around here and she isn’t anything fucking special. She’s just something I want that I can’t have. She’s something that calls to me and I can’t answer.
“yo motherfuckers!” Tattz yells from somewhere behind us. I turn to look over my shoulder at the crazy motherfucker and smirk. New ink covers the left side of his face. If you ever seen the tattooed man, he’s going one step further. Tattz is obsessed with tattoos and covering his body with them. It’s an amazing transition to watch. He’s been at it for years and I have to say it looks pretty badass. Not something I’d do but still.
“What the fuck you want?” I ask when he steps up and grabs my pack of cigarettes.
“A spot in the circus,” he says with a grin on his face.
“Fuck you. Who you gonna be? The bearded woman?” The guys laugh but Tattz is serious. I can see the look in his eyes. Since when does he want a spot in this shit? He’s never given a damn before.
