In Dark Coup, the third and final book in the Dark Grid trilogy, spring finds the residents of Promised Land and Redemption hard at the work of survival and recovery. However, looming dangers to life and liberty remain--and not all of them come from outside of the community. As the Colonel's attacks on neighboring bases increase in both number and ferocity, the rebels uncover the startling, almost unbelievable, truth about a corrupt and shadowy cabal linked by greed and lust for power, and their dangerous conspiracy to fulfill a lethal agenda that originated years ago. With diminishing resources and an unequal fighting force, can the rebels recapture America for those who value freedom, self-determination, and God-given rights, over exploitation and suppression? In the wake of a solar event, the likes of which hasn't been seen since 1859 when the height of technology was the telegraph, the northern hemisphere is faced with a new reality...a life without power. The electrical grids of virtually the entire planet have shorted out as a result of expected, but completely unplanned for, sunspot activity during the peak of the current solar cycle.Joel Taylor and his family, along with a few close trusted friends, have to decide how--and even if--they can survive in their suburban Nashville neighborhood as things deteriorate within a matter of days with no electricity. Once they decide to strike out on their own, the only question that remains is where? Through the recent prior military service of Eric Tripp, one of the small group to leave the neighborhood, they are allowed to attach themselves to the local National Guard Unit until they decide where they are headed. With the power out, and no communication with higher authority, the Guard is on its own and downtown Nashville is becoming a less safe place to be. The entire Armory, group and all, relocates to Natchez Trace State Park to set up operations for the duration of the crisis...however long that may be.The second edition of Dark Grid was released in late August of 2012 to coincide with the release of its sequel, Dark Road. In addition to being comprehensively (professionally) edited for punctuation, grammar, wording and flow, the decision was made to remove profanity, vulgar language, and offensive references to Deity (i.e., use of the Lord's name in vain). Dark Grid has also been shortened by 16,000 words, to 352 pages in print and the equivalent on a Kindle, in order to remove redundant or unnecessary dialogue and to tighten up the story. If you purchased Dark Grid prior to the August re-release, you can download the second edition for free by going to the "Manage Your Kindle" page, selecting Dark Grid, and then clicking on the "update available" link next to the title.ReviewI really like the strong female characters.  I find them to be as real as in any other book if not better.-William Morrow It is a great exploration of how to do it right and I really liked it for that...Overall I would say Great job Mr. Waldron and I look forward to the next thing you write!-SoCalReader I did find myself thinking I knew someone like or could personally relate to the characters, which made their situations much more vivid. Also, the humor was very well done - few books actually make me laugh out loud.-Andrew B. Dooley

Dark Road, sequel to Dark Grid: When the Lights Go Out, Permanently, picks up just a few weeks after the end of Dark Grid. A disastrous solar storm has knocked out power grids throughout the northern hemisphere, and life as we know it in America will never be the same. The Taylor family, Eric, Karen, Chuck, and Sherri were able to evacuate from their neighborhood in Nashville, Tennessee before society collapsed, and join with the Tennessee National Guard to begin building a successful and thriving community in Natchez Trace--called Promised Land. First Sergeant Mallory Jensen was promoted to Major, thanks to orders from higher authority codenamed ARCLiTE... Dark Road follows the family of Dan and Marissa Clark. Increasingly desperate under the despotic rule of the HOA leader, Carey, wary of the rapidly increasing threat from contagious disease, and slowly but surely starving to death; what will happen when a family with two young children, and a better destination in mind, decides to undertake a journey outside the purported safety of their patrolled neighborhood--only to discover that it's patrolled to keep neighbors in, as well as marauders out? The community at Promised Land continues to grow--holding elections, annexing a town, and even celebrating their first wedding. But when Mallory reaches out to other military camps in the region, she discovers that ARCLiTE--and the forces behind it--may not be at all what they claimed to be...and suddenly everything is up in the air.
