Hello again to all my readers. My one and only baby girl loves vampire books. So I promised I would write one for her. It took me a while to come up with a story that I found interesting, funny and worth writing. Khristian, remember Daddy loves you always, and this one is for you.

First, let me say thank you to my wife, Tina. Without you to support me and your encouragement, my writing never would have taken place. It is very true a book can’t be written without support from others, and to Tina, thank you.

Next, my beta/ARC readers, thank you for your valuable input and Cora, Leslie, Rosa, and Jaala. My beta readers have to read the story in its rawest form complete with mistakes. Many of them now can actually read the stories and automatically know what a sentence should mean. Thank you for taking the time to read the stories more than once and give feedback.

To Amanda my editor, thank you. From my post-apocalypse to fantasy, you have read them all, and thank you for your feedback and not hitting me with a ruler for my poor grammar. To my artist Christian Bentulan, thank you for bringing mine and Tina’s vision of cover art to life. Your work is excellent.

Next, to you the reader, thank you for reading my stories and for all your feedback. Yes, the next book in this series is ready, but until this book stands on its own, I have to wait before we can publish it. Hope you enjoy this story, and again, thank you for your support.

And to all of you who follow us on Facebook. Thank you for sharing all the links to my books. Thank you seems so small for all you do for me.

Without further ado, I present Vengeance in Blood.

  Vengeance In Blood

  Chapter 1

In the shadows, Nickel stood back in the alley, watching the throngs of people walk the sidewalk in downtown Chicago this Friday night. He grinned upon seeing the young women walk by, laughing to each other. He turned his head but kept his eyes on the young women. “Yo, Pit, how bout those?” he asked.

Sitting with his back to the wall, Pit looked up from rolling a joint. “Naw, fool, they’s three of them. We can’t get three off the sidewalk without one makin’ a scene.”

“Dawg, we just gonna be watchin’ these motherfuckin’ bitches, or are we gonna to take some?” Nickel snapped back.

Pit calmly rolled his joint and slowly licked the paper. Carefully rolling the ends together in his massive fingers, he tucked the joint behind his ear. Taking a deep breath, Pit slowly stood. Seeing Pit get up, Nickel stepped away from the massive man. Nickel grew up on the streets and wasn’t scared of many things, but Pit was one of them.

“Nickel, don’t be mouthin’ me. I will break yo small ass in half,” Pit grumbled, looking down at Nickel.

Holding up his hands in surrender, Nickel shook his head. “Dawg, you know I’m not dissing you. I just need ta grab one of them bitches.” Seeing Pit smile at him, Nickel relaxed. He wasn’t a small man at six foot, but Pit was a head taller and much broader. At Pit’s last stint in the big house, he had seriously pushed iron, and did it ever show.

“Dawg, we got to be smart. You just grab shit without thinkin’, you gonna get us caught,” Pit warned.

“Shit, I know,” Nickel groaned. “It’s been four days since we grabbed a bitch. I need me some.”

“Chill, dawg,” Pit said, pulling out a lighter. “We gonna get one, and we’ll get her to tell us her ATM code like those last two. That is easy money.”

“How much longer you think we can use ‘em?” Nickel asked, looking back at the sidewalk.

Pulling the joint from behind his ear, Pit lit up. “They ain’t even found the bodies yet, but we’ll get rid of ‘em after tomorrow.”

A woman stopped on the sidewalk at the end of the alley, talking on a cellphone. Nickel sucked in his breath. “Fuck,” he gasped. “That bitch be fine, one fine ho.”

Raising his eyes to see, Pit’s hands froze before lighting his joint. “Damn,” he mumbled. The diminutive woman had dark red hair past her shoulders, and a short skirt exposed her slim, perfect legs with her feet in sandals. She looked like she was late teens, but her white, smooth skin just made her look younger. “We might keep her a day or two,” he said, reaching up and tucking the joint behind his ear.

“Yo Pit, can I nail dat first? Yo dick might break that lil ho,” Nickel asked as the girl laughed on the phone.

Gazing at the woman’s body, Pit shook his head. “Nickel, I don’t know. That shit is so fine I’d slap my momma.”

“Just think about it,” Nickel begged. “How you wanna do it?”

“Let’s follow her and see if we can get her in a spot we can put her down. Then, you come back and gets the van so we can take that to the warehouse.”

“Pit, they’s lots of people out there. They gonna notice two Gs rolling along the sidewalk,” Nickel warned as the woman looked at her phone and hung up. Putting her phone in her purse, she looked around. “Fuck it, we followin’ that ho.”

They watched her bounce on her toes as she looked around then down the alley. To their surprise, she walked right toward them. “Damn, poontang delivery,” Pit smiled as the woman headed toward them.

“Want me to run out and thump her?” Nickel asked.

Pit shook his head. “No, dawg, let’s see if she passes us. Then, we can get some.” Pit grinned. To their shock, she saw them and smiled. Pit was getting ready to charge but stopped as the woman headed right toward them.

“Never had one deliver they self,” Nickel mumbled.

“Shut it,” Pit warned in a low voice as the woman neared.

She stopped a few feet away from them, bouncing on her toes. “Hey, I’m sorry to bother you, but is there a spot back here that I can pee?”

Her soft, quiet voice tamed Pit and made him smile. Nickel grinned at the woman. “Yo sweetness, you can pee wherever you want.”

Coming out of his trance, Pit pointed down the alley. “There is a corner back there behind this building. Walk down there past the loading dock, and you can hide back there.”

The woman looked down the dark alley as the two drooled over her. She looked back at them. “Is it safe back there?” she asked.

“Ain’t nobody back there,” Pit said, motioning down the alley. That’s why we here, he thought, his smile growing.

With an unsure look down the dark alley, the woman turned back to them. “Will one of you come with me?” she asked.

Blinking in shock, the smile fell off Pit’s face. “Huh,” he moaned.

“I know it’s gross, but if someone’s back there, one of you could scare them off,” she said, bouncing faster on her toes with a pleading look.

Stepping around Pit and grabbing one of his massive arms, Nickel pulled him down the alley. “Shit girl, as fine as yo ass is, we both will make sho nuttin’ be botherin’ you.”

The woman clapped her hands with a little squeal and followed. “Damn, the G’s never gonna believe this shit,” Pit said, shaking his arm out of Nickel’s grasp.

Glancing over his shoulder, Nickel saw the woman following them, oblivious. With a smile on her china-doll-innocent face, she seemed at ease. “Dawg, I wonder if she’ll just get in the van?” he whispered to Pit.

Thinking about that, Pit glanced back and saw her innocent smile. “Hey, girl, we goin’ to party. Wanna come?” he asked, balling up his fist in case it didn’t work.

“A PARTY!” she squealed and danced with excitement. “I was on my way to one with a girlfriend, but she couldn’t make it, and I hate going alone,” she explained.

“I’m Pit, and this is Nickel,” Pit said, smiling. “Now you know us, so you ain’t goin’ single.”

She beamed at them; then, suddenly, the smile fell off her face, and they both prepared to pounce. “Is it close enough that I can pee there?” she asked with a worried look. “I really don’t like squatting down,” she
explained, and they both chuckled.

“It’s about four miles from here in an old warehouse. Think you can hold it that long?” Pit asked, not believing the luck they were having.

The smile spread back across her perfect face. “Oh yes, I can hold it that long,” she said, and her smile wavered. “No one will make fun of me, will they?”

Pit stepped over and put his massive arm around her. “Girl, the first one that do, I’ll break the fool in half,” he vowed. He looked down at the woman, who didn’t even come to the bottom of his chest.

  “Really?” she beamed.

Nickel stepped over on her other side, putting an arm across her back. “I’ll take the fool’s friends outside and fuck they ass up.” The woman turned to him, smiling, and he noticed even her teeth were pure white and perfect.

“I’m Besseta,” she said as they passed the alleyway they told her to go pee in. They led her to an old, gray cargo van tucked behind some dumpsters.

“Bess, you can—” Nickel started, and Besseta moaned, cutting him off.

“Please, call me Besseta,” she begged. “Bess sounds like an old woman.”

Pit slapped the back of Nickel’s head. “Yo ass heard her.”

Nickel rubbed the back of his head. “Sorry, girl, but you can ride in Pit’s lap,” he offered.

Letting out an innocent gasp, Besseta shook her head. “We could get pulled over. If you don’t have a backseat, I’ll just sit in the floor.”

“Shit, I’ll drive,” Pit said, tapping his massive chest. “You can sit up front, and Nickel can sit on the floor.”

“That wouldn’t be right,” she said, reaching out and grabbing his wrist. “I’m going to a party with you two; someone might say something.”

Pit looked down at the tiny hand that barely spanned the back of his wrist. “Whatever makes you happy.”

She dropped her hand and reached in her small purse. “Hold on; let me turn off my cellphone so my dad can’t tell where I’m going.” As she pulled out her phone and turned it off, they both looked at each other in disbelief. As she put her phone back, she pulled out a handful of money. “I have three hundred dollars. Should we stop for some beer?”

Nickel stumbled back, hitting the side of the van. Pit didn’t even look over at the dull thump. He shook his head. “We can get it,” he offered in a low, stunned voice.

Shock spread across Besseta’s face. “No,” she moaned. “You’re taking me to a party and promised not to let anyone make fun of me. I want to buy the beer,” she said, stomping her little foot, holding out the money to Pit.

Dumbfounded, Pit looked down at the small handful of money. “Then we gonna stop for some beer,” he said, reaching up, and she forced the money into his hand.

Looking over at Nickel, Pit saw him leaning back on the van with his mouth hanging open in utter disbelief. He hit Nickel in the chest with the back of his hand hard. “Bitch, get yo ass in and drive,” he commanded. Rubbing his chest, Nickel walked around the van with his mouth still hanging open.

Pit looked back down at Besseta. “You’re going to have to buy the beer; I don’t have my fake ID,” she said with a frown.

“No problem,” Pit said as he turned around and opened the sliding door. Besseta bounced in with a cheerful smile and patted his arm as she sat down on the piles of clothes spread across the floor. Pit shut the door and stopped. “Is this a dream?” he asked, looking around. An evil grin spread across his face. “If it is, it’s a good one.” Practically ripping the door open, he climbed in as Nickel started it up.

“Stop by the mart on the way; I’ll get the beer,” Pit said. With his brain in shock, Nickel nodded as he pulled out into traffic.

They soon pulled into a gas station. There were several people standing at the front of the store with paper-wrapped bottles. Besseta stuck her head between the seats. “You think they will let me pee here?” she asked hopefully. “I really want to make sure my hair is alright also.”

Startled, Nickel looked at the store and the video camera mounted beside the door. “I don’t think they have public toilets,” he said, glancing at Pit.

“If they don’t, I’ll make ‘em let you use one,” he said with a grin.

Besseta squealed, clapping her hands, darting back and opening the side door. Nickel gave Pit a stunned look, but Pit just grinned as he opened his door and climbed out. As he shut his door, Besseta latched on to his arm, walking with him to the front doors. Several Gs standing near the door stopped talking as they walked to the door.

“Damn, Pit, she is fine,” one called out, lifting his wrapped bottle.

Besseta smiled at them and leaned her head on his arm. “He’s taking me to a party.”

Pit looked down at her. She had her arms wrapped around his as it hung at his side, and Besseta’s head was below his elbow. “It’s gonna be a great party,” he said, looking up and swinging the door open. He walked over to the cashier, who looked at Pit with fear in her eyes. “Where’s yo bathroom for my woman?” he asked, narrowing his eyes.

“Ah, it’s for employees only,” she stuttered.

Pit stepped up to the counter and leaned over, looking down at the clerk. “I said it was for my woman. Don’t make me go off,” he warned.

“I’m sorry, sir,” she said and stepped back. “It’s right this way,” she said, walking down the counter.

Pit looked down at Besseta. “You go, and I’ll get the beer.” She hugged his arm and took off. Shaking his head, Pit walked to the back and grabbed four cases of the big money beer. Walking back up, he set them on the counter as the clerk returned. He pulled out the wad of money and threw it down. “I’m coming back for more, and get me two bottles of Royal,” he said, picking up the beer.

Backing through the door, Pit stopped outside and gave the crew standing there a case then headed over to the van. Nickel got out and opened the side door. “Man, you trippin’? They is video here,” he said as Pit slid the beer in.

Pit stood up. “You startin’ again,” he warned.

“Pit, that may be some of our crew, but most those fools would sell they momma for a rock. They seen her with us,” Nickel said, looking at the group as beer was passed out. Then, with a startled look, Nickel turned back to Pit. “We still doin’ her, right? You ain’t changed yo mind, have you?”

“Shit yeah, we doin’ that fine ass,” Pit said, slapping the side of Nickel’s head. “So what they seen us? She with us on her own, and they seen it. If fo some reason the po-po even ask, we can tell them we tapped that ass and left her at the party. We don’t be knowin’ what happened after we left.”

Slowly rolling around what Pit said, Nickel slowly nodded and grinned. “You be a thinkin’ motherfucker.” Pit smiled, and Nickel stepped over. “We need to at least swing by Lil Pipe’s house. He havin’ a party.”

“Bitch, we ain’t really takin’ her to no damn party,” Pit said, about to pop Nickel again.

“No man,” Nickel said, seeing the muscles tighten on one of Pit’s arms and throwing his hands up. “We can cuff her up and run over for a minute just so we gots witnesses we was at a party.”

Relaxing, Pit nodded. “Yeah, that’s some good thinkin’ fo yo lil ass.”

Nickel smiled. “Hey man, let’s keep her around for a few. I ain’t ever had a throw away ho just offer they self.”

Pit reached over, and Nickel flinched, but Pit just patted his shoulder. “Dawg, she cut off her phone for us, gave us money, and climbed in the ride. Shit, I’m wonderin’ if she’ll throw herself in the river fo us.”

“Man, I ain’t even heard any of the crew talkin’ about a throw away ho goin’ along this easy,” Nickel stated.

Turning around, laughing, Pit headed back to the store. The Gs in his crew flashed the sign as he opened the door, and Pit returned it. Not seeing Besseta, Pit got a little worried as he headed for the cooler and grabbed four more cases. He quickly carried them out and headed back inside to see Besseta at the counter. Walking over, he noticed she had a frustrated expression, looking at the clerk.

“What’s got you mad?” he asked.

She looked up at him and pouted, “She won’t give me a pack of cigarettes unless I show her ID.”
