Wrath of the Dragon 2, page 12
My night dragon form was the blackest black I had ever seen, and slight hues of purple shone along my dark wings. My body and snout were more slender and streamlined than in my fire dragon form, and I had purple eyes that shone under the moon. There were black jagged spikes that ran down my spine and tail, and there was no denying I looked deadly as all hell.
I also noticed immediately that my eyesight had improved so drastically that the Shore looked like it was daytime. The moon already shone brightly, but now the dark shadowy corners were illuminated to me, and I could see everything.
It was clear I had some serious night vision skills.
Then Nisha shot up into the sky beside me before she suddenly vanished into the sky. But there was still an outline of the angel so faint and translucent you would never notice it if you didn’t know where to look.
I focused hard on the night sky around me, and I felt a strange rippling sensation run over my scales. Then I swooped down to face the lake and was surprised to see nothing other than the stars reflected on the water.
“Holy shit,” I laughed. “I’m fucking invisible.”
“You have my powers!” Nisha cheered.
“Yeah, well, I can still see you both,” Cyra called as she hovered a few feet off the ground. “There’s no hiding from angels.”
The fire angel was far enough from the ground to be safe, but she stayed in the cover of the thick treetops so nobody could see her.
I soared around the lake as the howls of the Bunyip got louder, and I couldn’t get over how clearly I could see. We waited as the heavy footsteps thudded toward the lake, and the Bunyip suddenly came into view from behind one of the stone houses.
The creature was about nine feet tall and was built like a bear. It was incredibly thick and walked on four sturdy legs. Its body was covered in dark fur, and it had a rounded snout with flared nostrils as it sniffed the sky. The Bunyip’s ears were long and drooped, and it had two white fangs that stuck out of its mouth. Its snout was drenched in dried blood, and it had misty, white eyes.
It moved with a slow waddle as it wandered over to the lake, but I could tell it was still lethal as hell.
I wasn’t sure if I had any attacking powers as a night dragon, but I was ready to use brute strength against the creature. There was a strange feeling in my throat that was similar to my first experience breathing fire. It felt like there was something waiting to be unleashed inside me, and I was curious to see if I could still breathe flames somehow.
I dove down toward the Bunyip, and it didn’t even glance at my invisible form. Then I opened my powerful jaws and breathed down onto the beast.
It wasn’t fire that came out of my mouth, it was a misty cloud of blackness that consumed the Bunyip.
The creature screeched as it closed its eyes, and it swung its massive body around like it was suddenly disoriented. The cloud wrapped around the animal and made it vanish for a moment before the Bunyip fell back out into the grass.
“Ryan!” Cyra yelled. “What the hell was that?”
“I don’t know,” I called as I swooped back into the air. “It… looks like I just breathed darkness?”
The Bunyip stumbled as it shook its head, and the black cloud gradually faded away. The beast raised its head to try and find its attacker, but just ended up howling into the night sky. I soared down again toward the creature and felt the night air rush between my wings. Then I blew another stream of darkness out into the Bunyip’s face, and it snarled as it dove forward blindly.
The creature’s enormous body sped right at me, and I swung my taloned feet out to meet it. I pierced right into its furry chest and felt my claws sink deep into the flesh. The Bunyip howled as I ripped my claws back out, and dark blood squirted from its wounds.
As I shot back into the sky, the beast seemed to have worked out that its attacker was invisible. It swung its front paws wildly and jumped into the air at random to try and catch me.
“This power is amazing,” Nisha breathed as I joined her back in the sky. “The darkness blinds the creature and lingers for a few moments.”
I didn’t have time to reply as the Bunyip suddenly decided it was better off running away. It was clearly unsure of how to continue the fight as it turned and began to flee toward the buildings of the Shore.
Despite its wounds, it moved quickly, and I tore down toward the beast. Then I thrust my talons down into its thick hide and stabbed the bastard right in the spine. I breathed another cloud of black mist onto the Bunyip’s head right before I pulled my claws back up.
The creature was now bleeding from its front and back, and it swayed from side to side with its eyes closed.
“You’ve almost got it!” Cyra yelled.
I dove back down, and this time I aimed my claws for the beast’s skull. Just as it opened its eyes once more, I swung my tail around to meet its head.
My scales smacked the bunyip right in the face, and the force of the hit knocked the beast onto its back. It howled as blood poured from its chest wounds, and I dove down to make my final blow.
Then I brought my talons down into the creature’s neck.
It feebly swung its front paws up to try and stop me, but it was no use. My claws burrowed right into the furry flesh, and blood seeped out as I dug them in deeper. The Bunyip gurgled as its white eyes flickered, and it fell still as I gave its neck one final squeeze.
Blood dripped from my talons as I flew back into the sky, and the two angels cheered.
“It’s dead,” Cyra cried.
“Blood all over the grass…” Nisha grinned. “Ryan, that was amazing.”
“Thanks,” I laughed. “I love my new form. I feel fucking unstoppable.”
I shot up toward the moon and took some time to enjoy the feeling of the wind under my wings. The stars sparkled around me, and the freedom of being invisible was exhilarating.
I didn’t have to worry about hiding my flames or staying low. I could just soar through the night air and breathe my own darkness wherever I liked.
Cyra landed back on the ground as I flew, and Nisha gently flew down to join her. The angels watched as I soared above them, and I spat another cloud of darkness into the air.
The black fog covered up the stars, and it was as if it created its own tiny night sky for a moment. The cloud lingered for just a few seconds before it faded, and I wondered if there could be other uses besides blinding my enemies.
I figured Nisha might know, so I flew down toward the angels, and they grinned with pride as I approached.
“I was wondering,” I said. “Would my dark clouds hurt you if you touched them? Would you get blinded like the Bunyip?”
“I don’t suppose I would,” Nisha said thoughtfully. “I’m not sure about Cyra. Why?”
“It could be useful,” I said. “In an emergency, you could be hidden by the cloud. It could just form a cocoon of darkness around you.”
“A cocoon of darkness.” Nisha grinned. “I like the sound of that.”
“Let’s try it and see,” Cyra said. “I’ll be careful.”
I turned my face away from the angels and blew a cloud of darkness beside them. Nisha confidently strode into the mist and was immediately swallowed up by the deep blackness. It was impossible to see anything other than the dark swirls, and she faded back into view a few moments later as the cloud disappeared.
“Nice.” She smiled. “I already have my night form abilities, but it’s always good to have vanishing options! I think you should be okay, Cyra.”
I let out another billowing cloud, and the fire angel stuck a cautious leg into the blackness. Her ivory limb vanished, and she took a breath before she stepped into the cloud. Then the red-haired angel disappeared from view, and Nisha cheered as the mist swirled.
Cyra stepped back out of the blackness as it faded and grinned as she took a bow.
“Awesome,” I chuckled. “I love this form. It feels so different compared to my fire dragon body but equally as powerful.”
“I suppose binding was a good idea after all,” Nisha said in a sultry tone.
“No arguments there.” I grinned. “Okay, we should go and let the locals know the swamp bastard is dead.”
I took one last moment to spin around over the lake and then focused back on my human body. As I landed on the grass, my scales became flesh once more. My wings disappeared, but I still felt the adrenaline of flying pulsing through me.
I ran a hand through my hair and looked around to see the world had returned back to its normal darkness. My eyes took a moment to adjust after my adventure with night vision, and I walked over to the Bunyip’s body. There were already flies buzzing around the bleeding fur, and it smelled like a stagnant pond.
Seeing it in my human form really put things into perspective about just how fucking big it was, and I hoped there weren’t more where it came from.
“It smells terrible,” Cyra said with a wrinkled nose. “I hope they roll it into the lake or something.”
“I don’t think the Lake Ladies would like that,” I said. “Come on, let’s go and tell the inn folk.”
We left the Bunyip’s corpse behind us and headed back toward the locked-up tavern. They had blown out all of the candles inside, and the whole place looked abandoned.
I knocked firmly on the door, and there was a moment of silence.
“It’s Ryan,” I called. “We’re back. The Bunyip’s dead.”
There was a scurrying sound of footsteps, and the door slowly unlocked and then creaked open. Irving’s blond mop of hair peeked out, and the bartender blinked at me.
He glanced around behind us, and he shook his head slowly.
“You can’t be serious,” he whispered. “It can’t be dead.”
“You want to see the body?” Cyra asked with folded arms. “Because there is a very stinky corpse by the lake that will give you all the proof you need.”
Irving slowly opened the door, and the other inn customers hurried over to see what was going on.
“He says it’s dead,” Irving said, and the Grindylows gasped.
The blond man peered each way into the darkness before he stepped outside, and he hurried toward the lake as he shook slightly. The Lake Ladies and Grindylows followed close behind, and there was an explosion of gasps as they stared over at the body.
“He did it!” one of the Lake Ladies cried. “The Bunyip is dead!”
Suddenly, multiple lights around the Shore went on as candles were lit behind windows. Faces peered out into the darkness, and the Shore residents pressed their faces against the glass to try and see outside.
A couple of the braver folks slowly opened their doors and stuck their heads out tentatively.
“It’s dead!” Irving yelled as he waved his hands. “The Bunyip is dead!”
The blond man did a little jig and then raced back over toward the inn. His round face was flushed, and he grabbed my hand enthusiastically to shake it.
“Thank you,” he gushed. “Ryan, oh my goodness, how could we possibly repay you?”
“I like wine.” I shrugged with a grin.
“On the house!” he laughed. “None of you are paying a penny for your stay tonight, either. I insist.”
He fumbled in his pocket and handed Cyra back her coins. The people of the Shore had all stumbled out of their houses by now, and many of them rushed to the lake to see the body. There were screams followed by excited cheers, and a couple of youngsters tore off their clothes to dive into the lake in celebration.
“I think you made them happy,” Cyra said as she nudged me.
“He does that.” Nisha smiled. “Let’s go and see what other free things we can get.”
I laughed as we headed inside, and Irving rushed around bringing us multiple samples of his fanciest drinks. He placed wines and ales down in front of me and insisted I try them all.
The Lake Ladies piled back in with the Grindylows, and a few others came to join in on the fun.
I was on a serious high after getting to experience my night dragon form. I could turn fucking invisible. I already knew the feeling of blending in with the stars was never going to get old, and I couldn’t wait until the next time I could use my powers. The way that darkness shot out of my throat was incredible, and I was thrilled to have a dragon form I could use without being noticed.
Getting to help the people of the Shore was a plus, too.
The locals couldn’t stop thanking me, and Cyra and Nisha showered me with kisses all evening.
It was hard to keep my eyes anywhere else.
The two angels were clearly loving our new dynamic, and they were being impossibly flirty all night. Cyra stroked my thigh as she sipped her drink, and Nisha’s silver eyes fluttered at me every time I spoke. The fiery babe and goth beauty were all over me, and I felt like I was on top of the fucking world.
But I was still getting used to the fact that they were both my lovers. They belonged to me in the most intimate way and had trusted me enough to bind with them entirely. Somehow, I owned these celestial beauties, and I was never going to let them go.
Then Nisha rested her head on my shoulder, and Cyra slumped in her chair as the night went on. I could feel my eyelids growing heavier as I was served more drinks, and it wasn’t long before I was ready to collapse into bed with my angels.
“I think I need to sleep,” I yawned. “Shall we head upstairs?”
The angels nodded, and we got to our feet as more compliments and thank yous were thrown at me. It was clear that the locals were going to carry on drinking well into the early morning hours, and we headed upstairs as the Grindylows began to sing.
It did not sound like it was going to be a very tuneful experience, and I wasn’t too upset to miss it.
We went up the wooden staircase to find a very grand-looking landing waiting for us. There was a maroon carpet with a small chandelier on the high ceiling, and some oil paintings of flowers and fruit lined the walls. Flickering candles were also attached to the walls on brass brackets, and there was a pleasant smell of oranges in the air.
I pushed open our room to find it was sparkling clean and spacious, with a four-poster bed sitting in the middle. There were blue curtains over the window, and a bathtub with clawed feet in the en suite bathroom. The hardwood floor nearly sparkled with cleanliness, and I could just tell the pillows were going to send me off to sleep in seconds.
“This Shore is fancy,” I whistled as I locked the door behind us. “You don’t have to stay in here, obviously. I know you don’t need much sleep.”
“I could lie down for a bit.” Cyra shrugged. “It’s been a while since I properly rested.”
“Me, too,” Nisha agreed. “How can I pass up a chance to cuddle with my dragon hero?”
“Life is amazing with you two,” I groaned as the angels peeled off their clothes.
As exhausted as I was, I didn’t miss the opportunity to appreciate my two beauties. Cyra confidently flicked her hair as she gave me a naked twirl, and Nisha fluttered her eyes at me as her perfect body was revealed.
Then I stripped down and climbed under the soft covers, and the two angels jumped in on either side of me. My hands roamed over their naked breasts, and I sighed happily as I became drowsier.
“I could get used to this,” I murmured as I laid on my back, and the winged women snuggled into my chest.
“Good.” Cyra grinned. “Because you’re stuck with us now. We are both officially bound to you, so we’ll be sticking around.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” I chuckled.
My eyes started to close, and I felt the warmth of their bodies pressed up against me. The fight played over in my mind as I began to drift off, and I kept reliving the feeling of flying invisibly through the starry night sky.
Then I gave both of the angels a kiss on their heads and felt myself falling into a deep sleep.
I spent the whole night dreaming of flying, and I woke up when I heard the sound of footsteps. It took a second to remember I wasn’t in my dragon form, and I yawned as the events of the past day flooded back to me.
I slowly opened my eyes and found Nisha perched at the end of the bed while Cyra looked out of the window. They had both gotten dressed, and they were happily smiling as they turned to face me. I had to fight against the urge to pull them both back into bed with me, but I knew we had a mission to continue.
Sunlight peeked in through the curtains, and I stretched out as I sat up on the comfortable bed.
“Morning.” Nisha smiled. “I hope you got some good rest. You look so handsome when you sleep.”
“I did,” I said as I rubbed my eyes. “Have you been up for long?”
“We rested a while,” the night angel said. “But I mostly just enjoyed being close to you. Being pressed up against you just made me replay our binding night over and over.”
“Me, too.” Cyra grinned. “I was having a lot of very naughty thoughts.”
The fire angel bit her lip teasingly, and I chuckled at their flirtatious energy. I loved how much they enjoyed being intimate with me, and it seemed to have strengthened their friendship even more.
“We should get going,” I said as I swung my legs out of bed. “As much as I just want to pull you into bed and fuck both of you senseless, we have another angel to save.”
“As long as you promise to do that soon,” Cyra purred as she leaned down to kiss me. “I think it would be so hot to watch you make Nisha cum.”
“Fuck,” I groaned as the fire angel kissed my cheek. “You can’t talk like that, or my head is going to explode.”
“Yes, stop being such a tease,” Nisha giggled. “Ryan can make us cum when our quest is won. Something to look forward to.”
The night angel ran a hand down my calf as she spoke, and her touch sent a shock through my body. Now that it was clear they both definitely wanted to have sex with me at the same time, I had even more motivation to save Brooke as quickly as possible.
I had to force myself to think back to the task at hand, and the angels giggled at my obvious distraction.
“Okay,” I said as I got to my feet. “Hopefully we can make some good progress in getting to the waterfalls.”
