The Wolf Slayer: Healing Blood, page 23
“Two babies,” her voice was a mere whisper and sounded rough as if she had to relearn how to talk. She looked up at him, his face was warm and his eyes joyful.
“Selene has truly blessed us.”
“I hope she knows what she is doing because I clearly don’t,” she meant it to be funny but deep down she was scared. She had trouble wrapping her head around one child let alone two. If she was scared before, now she was truly terrified.
His hands washed her down and he paused rubbing his thumbs over her baby bump, “It explains why you are growing so fast. And the echo I always heard when I listened to them. I never thought of twins. It’s very uncommon for it to happen and unheard of in alpha families.”
“Please don’t tell anyone, at least not yet. They will go insane and make me lose my mind even more.”
“I promise. We can tell them whenever you are ready.”
He washed her down, wrapped her in a towel and carried her into their bedroom, where he sat her down on the edge of the bed. He took her face into his hands and kissed her. It was a gentle and loving kiss, exactly what she needed, “I missed you.”
His thumbs softly stroked her cheeks as he looked down on her, his eyes radiating pure joy, “I missed you too.”
She slid her hands under his shirt, touching his smooth skin. As he was standing in front of her, she picked up his shirt exposing his perfectly sculptured muscular body. He pulled it over his head, and she was able gazed over him while tracing his skin with her fingers. With her hands on his back, she pulled him closer, laying her head on his stomach, “I could not sleep without you by my side. I kept waking up needing your touch, wanted you to comfort me but all I could feel was cold air next to me.”
“I will make up for it,” he kneeled in front of her, his lips touching hers before moving on to her chin line and neck. His hands unwrapped the towel she was wearing, leaving her bare.
His kisses intensified, his lips seemed to feel hotter, and he sucked her skin each time he kissed a new part of her body. His hands slipped down her sides, till they reached her hips, he grabbed a hold of them and pulled her closer to the edge of the bed, “So beautiful,” he moaned as his lips reached her breasts. One hand still on her hip the other gently caressed one of her nipples, but it was his tongue licking over the other that took her breath.
He had a way of making her whole body scream for more. She arched her back to get closer to him, her hands firmly holding on to his shoulders. His fingers still playing with one of her nipples his lips smoothly continued downward. He stopped and lovingly kissed her bump before spreading her legs. His tongue found her clit straight away, circling it and making her whole body erupt in waves of lust. She could not hold back a moan and clenched his neck, pulling him closer. As his tongue circled her faster, his finger slid inside her wet core.
“More Blake,” she fell back on the bed, laying her legs on his shoulders. He started sucking her clit before giving her the satisfaction of a second finger inside of her, putting her dangerously close to her climax. The third finger entered and final pushed her over the edge. Her body tensed as her orgasm swept over her.
Blake got on his feet, taking off his pants. He leaned forward and kissed her neck, “How do you want me?”
“However, you like,” at this point she would do whatever he wanted. She had never had a man satisfy her as much as Blake did, let alone a man that gave her an orgasm just to continue and most likely give her another.
“Stand up and turn around for me,” his voice was deep and lustful. She followed without hesitation, stud up and turned around. He gently yet firmly bent her forward and spread her legs a little. His hard and large manhood slid between her legs.
“I love you,” he said before thrusting into her and taking her breath. He did not hold back, grabbing her hips and filling her fully. With each thrust he went deeper and faster. She never thought she’d enjoy hard, fast love like this, but Blake made her cum, her legs giving in and only being held up by his strong arms. It only took two more hard thrusts for him to cum inside of her.
He gently picked her up and laid her on the bed, kissing her forehead, “Was I too rough?”
She could not answer, her breathing was still irregular, so she only shook her head. He smiled even though she saw a little bit of remorse or guilt in his eyes. He held her close to his chest, his arms wrapped around her, “Sleep my love, rest up,” he kissed her as she closed her eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
The next morning Niev woke up early to an empty and cold bed. She had hoped to wake up in Blakes warm arms, but he must have left while she was still asleep. His covers looked as if he had slept in the bed, so she was glad he at least was able to find a little rest throughout the night. She got out of bed and just then noticed she was still naked. Quickly she found a pair of jeans and a shirt. Even though she was not far along she could feel her clothes getting tighter.
She quickly walked downstairs to grab breakfast, she wanted to see Christa as soon as possible. Passing by Tanner’s office she heard a muttered argument. She did not want to seem as if she was spying and quickly walked past it into the kitchen.
To her surprise Mayra was already up preparing breakfast. She turned around and smiled, “Good morning my dear, how are you feeling? Seth told me what happened, did you have enough rest?”
“Yes, I did, may I already eat breakfast? I wanted to head back to Christa as soon as possible.”
“Of course, grab whatever and how much you want,” she gave her a worried look, “Are you sure you are okay to go back?”
With her mouth filled with eggs and bacon Niev had no choice but to nod. While eating Mayra kept giving her worried looks, she clearly would have preferred for Niev to have stayed the day and rested up more. It only encouraged Niev in her decision not to let anyone in on the whole twin secret. She was still in shock herself; she was barely prepared for one baby let alone for two at the same time. Mayra, Lyliann and Layla would be all over her worrying and trying to slow Niev down.
Before she could sink deeper into her thoughts, she heard footsteps coming toward her from the hallway. She looked up and saw Blake. He smiled but he could not hide that something was upsetting him. Before she could ask what was on his mind, he said, “Could you please come into father’s office?”
Niev stuffed the last piece of bacon inside her mouth and jumped up to follow Blake. He took her hand with a tight grip, and she knew something was up, was it Tristan? Did he not make it?
Tanner sat behind his massive wood desk with a straight emotionless expression on his face. Seth stood directly behind his father; arms crossed in front of his chest with the exact same expression on his face as his father. Blake let go of her hand and walked towards the window where he stood trying to hide his feelings. He failed to do so, Niev could see that he was upset and angry.
Niev took her eyes off Blake and looked at Tanner, “How can I help you, Alpha?” Niev knew this was an official talk, not a talk between a daughter-in-law and her father-in-law, so she decided to address him with his title.
“Did you get enough rest after last night’s events?” Tanner seemed to want to avoid her question.
“Yes, but I am sure that is not the reason why you have asked me to come to your office, is it?” She saw Seth tense up, whereas Blake’s face now showed amusement and pride.
“As you know the attacks on our pack have increased over the past few days. I have decided that a peaceful solution is no longer an option, with our men getting weaker and weaker with each attack. I have decided that now is the time for us to attack,” Niev nodded, and Tanner continued, “I need all my wolves to be at their strongest. That is where you come into play,” now Niev understood why he had asked her how she was feeling this morning, “I need you to heal them,” it was not a question nor an alpha’s command, he counted on her doing as he asked, even though his face showed a quick expression of insecurity. He knew what toll it would take on her to heal the wolves, and maybe he was afraid of her rebelling against him, refusing to do as he needed. The war that they were fighting could be lost if she refused to heal his wolves.
Her answer came without hesitation, “I will do as you ask, Alpha,” relief spread over Tanner’s face and his tense muscles relaxed slightly.
In contrast to his father’s reaction to her words, Blakes muscles tensed, “Niev, you don’t have to,” but Seth interrupted him.
“Blake, she has made her choice,” Seth’s voice was cold.
Niev ignored the two of them and looked at Tanner, “I will heal as many wolves as I can,” Tanner nodded, “I will warn you though, they will not like it. As far as I understand I am perceived as a wicked witch that spoils and taints the souls of the ones I touch. I am not sure how many would want me to heal them.”
“Let that be my worry.”
Without even thinking about it, she blurred out in protest, “You will command them? That would be against their will,” she was opposed to the thought of touching and healing someone against their will. If he used his alpha authority on his men, they had no other choice but to do what they were told even if it was against their will. She clenched her hands into fists.
Seth tensed back up, “Do not question your Alpha! This is war in case you have not noticed. Families will die if we do not defeat the enemy,” he was not just angry but in rage.
Niev shot a deadly glare towards Seth, “I know exactly in what kind of situation we are in; must I remind you of the wolves Blake and I had to fight off?” She looked back to Tanner without waiting for a response from Seth, “I will do as you ask of me Alpha Tanner, even though I do not agree with your methods. You will find me at Christa’s cabin,” without further ado she turned on her heels and left the office. She quickly walked out the front door and made her way to Christa’s cabin. Instead of taking the shorter way through the village she headed towards the forest outskirts to avoid the hateful starters she would receive walking through the village.
She had not come far when she heard footsteps from behind quickly catching up to her. It was Blake, “I’ll walk with you,” he took her hand and entangled his fingers with hers.
“I should not have questioned him, I promised him to submit to him.”
“You did submit to him.”
“Any other pack member would have followed his orders without question.”
“You are no ordinary pack member and he knew you would never follow him blindly, he knows you respect him no matter what,” he stopped and pulled her into a hug, “I am proud of you, and I enjoyed how you put Seth in his place,” she looked up and saw a smirk on his face, “Reminding him that you stood up and fought a grown wolf was amazing and his expression was priceless,” he kissed her before looking around, “Why are you walking this way?”
“I try to avoid the death glares of the pack. So, I decided to walk around the village.”
He nodded and they continued walking.
“Father has allowed me to stay with you, while you heal the men. He did not like me being away from the fights, but I will not leave your side and if he wants you to heal everyone, I will stay with you.”
“I am glad I am not the only one with a rebellious side.”
He squeezed her hands a little tighter, “Did you get enough sleep? I stayed with you for as long as I could, but father wanted me to help plan the attack.”
“I did,” she looked at him and saw that something was bugging him, “What is on your mind?”
He sighed, “You read me far to well.”
“Isn’t that what I am supposed to do?” He smiled and nodded, “Are you going to tell me what is bothering you or are you going to avoid my question?”
“You are relentless,” he sighed, and it seemed as if he was trying to find the right words, “I have always wanted to stay out of pack business. I did not want anyone to think I am trying to undermine Seth by manipulating decisions that need to be made. It has worked for a long time, but now my father is trying to have me be part of decisions he is making.”
“And now you are afraid people could see it as you are trying to undermine Seth even though it’s not your own choice?”
“Yes.”
“Does your father know that?”
“I always thought he understood my reasoning but now I am less sure he understands why I did what I did. I am also afraid that people might think now that I have found you, I want to become alpha and challenge Seth.”
“Maybe after all this is over you can talk to Seth and your father and make them understand why you are holding back and not want to be part of any decision making.”
“After all this is over, we are going to hide in our cabin and never coming out again. I hate being separated from you like we have been since you came here.”
She grinned and blushed at the same time, “I would love that very much. We could read lots and lots of parent books, so we don’t look like clueless chickens when the twins arrive.”
He laughed and laid his arm around her shoulders as he walked her down the path that let them to Christa’s cabin, “We could start by clearing out the spare room to make room for the nursery. Its small but it should be fine for the first year or so. Babies don’t need a lot of space, or do they?”
“You’re asking me as if I know the answer,” they both giggle. Being so close to Blake was amazing, she felt comfortable around him, and he eased her anxiety about her future especially about having twins. She felt as if she could do anything and everything with him by her side.
Chapter Twenty
“A Dead Alpha Is No Use To His Warriors”
Christa was busing herself in front of her cabin as Niev and Blake came closer. She seemed tiered but in a good mood. As they came closer Christa looked up and smiled, “If you two are looking for Tristan, I just send him home with his mother.”
“How is he doing?” Niev was relieved, if Tristan was well enough to be send home he must have recovered without complications.
“He healed as if nothing ever happened to him,” Christa’s face changed and she looked concerned, “What brings you two to me? I would have thought you would rest more after last nights events.”
Niev could feel Blakes muscles tense up, “Shall we go inside so I can explain to you why we are here already?”
With a worried look Christa nodded went inside, Niev and Blake following her. Sitting on the couch Niev listened as Blake explained to Christa what had been decided.
Christa did not seem happy and looked worried, “We should make sure you eat and drink enough through out the day. It will give you the energy your body needs to heal itself from the blood loss you will be experiencing while healing all the men,” she went to her cabinet and grabbed a few instruments that Niev recognized to be used to measure one’s blood pressure, “I would like to measure your blood pressure and pulse now and throughout the day. My main concern today will be to keep you well and healthy.”
Niev nodded and sat quietly as Christa measured her blood pressure and pulse. Blake sat next to her, he was still tense and seemed uneased.
Niev gently took his hand in hers, “I’ll be fine.”
“I know, I just don’t like to use you like this. It feels wrong,” his face radiated guilt.
“Try seeing it from a different point of view. I am helping you and all other wolves to keep me and the babies safe and in return I heal them to make sure they are strong enough to outlast the fight and to be able to return home to their families in one piece.”
He lifter her hand to his lips and kissed them, “We don’t deserve your kindness.”
She was about to answer when the door opened, and Tanner walked in. He was barefoot and only wearing shorts. He seemed unsure on what he should do next, “Where would you like me to take a seat?”
Niev took a moment to think about it before answering him, “Did you bring some of the men with you?” Tanner nodded, “Would you allow me to heal you outside? I think it will ease their minds if they see how it is done.”
Tanner nodded again, “Very well.”
Niev stood up and walked outside, followed by Tanner, Blake, and Christa. Niev gestured towards the large tree stump outside of the cabin.
“Please sit, Alpha Tanner,” she was nervous, especially with everyone watching her but to her relief her voice was strong and not in the slightest shaky.
Tanner followed her order and sat down, so Niev and Christa could take a closer look at his body. He had a deep wound on his shoulder, and claw marks covering his back. Earlier in the morning he had hidden his injuries under his shirt. He must have done so to hide them from Mayra. The wounds did not seem fresh, at least a day or two old, they were covered in dirt and the blood was clotted, “Christa, what do you think? Maybe clean the wounds before I start?”
Christa nodded, “You can take care of Alpha Tanner while I start on cleaning the other men’s injuries to make this process go smoother.”
“Is that okay with you Alpha Tanner?” Niev wanted him to be part of the decision making and not wanting him to feel excluded from any decisions regarding his men.
“What ever makes this easier on you I will agree with,” Tanner gave her a warm smile.
Christa gently laid her hand on Blake’s arm, “Blake, be a good man and help me get everything set up out here.”
While Christa got everything set up, Niev started to clean out Tanner’s wounds. It took her a little longer than she had wanted it to. She had not had much practice and her routine and movements were slow. Halfway through her process Christa and Blake had finished setting up everything they would need outside. Niev finished her last claw mark as Christa started to help the second man in line.
“Do you have any other wounds you would like me to heal?”
