Bleeding Hearts, page 4
Trenton broke their kiss then he pushed her away from him. “If you think I’m letting you go that easily after all this time, you’re kidding yourself.”
Chapter Nine
Worth It
She knew it was a mistake to seek his help. Trenton had too much hurt and too much anger when it came to her. Toya didn’t blame him because it was her fault.
“Wait a minute, Toya.” He grabbed her elbow, so she faced him. “You think I’m about to let you walk out of this office after ten years? You think that’s going to fucking happen?”
He was so close his spicy, sweet cologne filled her nostrils; his breaths tickled her cheek. Toya couldn’t explain how it happened but one moment he was staring down at her, the next, their lips were crashing together in the most sensual yet chaotic dance she’d ever been a part of.
Trenton broke their kiss and pushed her away. Toya was still in a daze.
“If you think I’m letting you go that easily after ten years, you’re kidding yourself.”
No, she didn’t think he would, not after that kiss. But she was confused. “What do you want, Trenton?”
She could see in his eyes that he was at war with himself about what to do. Trenton rubbed his hand down his face, his head bowed, then his lips were back on hers. Toya stiffened, then relaxed into him. She missed this so much. Her arms hooked around his neck as he backed her into the door. His hands moved to her hips and squeezed.
“For right now, I want this.”
Trenton dived back in, coaxing her legs up and around his waist. Toya locked her ankles, feeling the slick wetness in her core. A rip echoed across the room when Trenton unzipped her slacks, then his fingers found her clit causing building tingles and tension in her core. They moved up her spine to the top of her head. It had been so long since someone other than herself made her come.
The sound of Trenton’s zipper momentarily brought her back from the haze of lust consuming her. Moments later his fingers found her opening.
“After all this time you’re still so receptive to me,” Trenton murmured as he plunged his fingers in and out of her. It was tumultuous. Almost like he was trying to torture or maybe punishing her for everything she put him through. Even if it was, it was so good. Toya moaned, not able to find her voice to even utter a protest or encouragement.
Trenton added another finger, stretching her so she would be ready for him. She couldn’t wait to have him inside her again. It had been too long.
“Please,” she begged.
Trenton smirked, and it was a gesture she was all too familiar with. She was playing right into his hands, and she didn’t even care. He softly kissed her neck. “Please, what?”
“Please, fuck me,” she pleaded and wasn’t ashamed. She wasn’t ashamed that she’d wanted this man and would always want this man. Toya was so thankful she didn’t have to beg long. Her eyes rolled from the sensation of Trenton thrusting inside her. She rested her head back on the door.
Trenton’s arm held tightly around her waist as he plunged in and out of her. It was volatile just like his punishable kisses. She could only surmise that Trenton’s hard and fast plunges were the same. But it didn’t matter to her. Toya moaned and hung on for dear life as Trenton pushed her towards her orgasm. Higher and higher she went as the back of her shoulders dug into the door when she met his thrust. She was so close it was almost embarrassing. She and Trenton had always been explosive together.
After all this time, that never changed. They moved from the door to his desk. Papers and pens hitting the floor as he dislodged one hand from under her ass and swiped his desk clear, all the while keeping them connected. Trenton laid her down and stared at her.
“Still as beautiful as ever,” he crooned, then dived in for another kiss and he pulled out of her and plunged back in.
Damn she missed his kisses. He always knew how to leave her breathless.
“Never knew I needed you this badly,” Trenton mumbled.
He gently rubbed slow circles on her clit with the pad of his thumb. Toya’s hips rose from the desk. Then she was impaled again, the sensations sending her to the brink. Trenton worked her body until she couldn’t take it anymore. She didn’t want to let go. Toya wanted the sensation of just being on the edge to last as long as it could. No longer was there an onslaught of punishment. Now, Trenton was deliberate in his motions, but a gentle staccato that drove her upwards.
“I’m close,” Trenton announced. And Toya was relieved because that meant the sweet torture of his dick touching her in places she hadn’t been touched in years was coming to a delicious end.
He put one of her legs on his shoulder, changing the angle, but never letting up on the slow circles on her clit.
“There,” she groaned. “Stay right there.”
Before she could voice more of the pleasure he was giving her, she was falling over the cliff into an eternal bliss with Trenton following.
Toya didn’t know where any of this would go, but if she came out with Trenton when all this was over, the turmoil of the last ten years was going to be worth it.
Chapter Ten
In For A Fight
Trenton Blue was in heaven as he pulled out of the only woman he’d ever loved. It had been ten years and it was just like nothing had changed. He still knew his way around Toya’s body, and she still knew how to get anything she wanted from him. At first, he wanted to punish her for what she’d done for him, but his anger could never last. Not when he was balls deep in her moist center.
Trenton helped Toya stand and dress, then he pulled her into his chest.
“I’ll help you all I can,” he promised. “But first, you’re staying with me. If he found you once, he’ll find you again.”
“I’m not going to stay with you. I was careful, Trenton. No one followed me.”
“You don’t know that. If you’re with me, I can protect you.” Trenton wasn’t budging. The chance Alex followed her was high.
After a moment, she realized that there was no use in arguing. “Okay. I’ll stay”
“Come on.” Trenton shoved his shirt back into his pants, then grabbed his keys. “We’re going to get your stuff, then I’m calling my brother Torren.
Toya followed him out his office to the elevator. The ride was quiet. He tried to think of how to get her out of this mess with Alex Graham. He figured Torren knew his old friend better than anyone, so while he waited for Riley to work her magic, he’d get information from Torren.
“Are you okay?” Toya asked, breaking the silence.
His gaze pierced hers. He hated her concern and worry for him with no regard for her own troubles. She had always been that way. Trenton caressed her cheek, and he was pleased she pushed into his warmth.
“I’m fine, just thinking about what to do next.”
Toya sighed. “I’m sorry I got you involved in this.”
He pulled her to him, then kissed her on the top of her head. “I’m glad you risked it to come see me.”
The doors slid opened, and they exited. He quickly ushered her across the lobby to the elevator leading to the parking garage.
“How’d you get here?” To him, it wouldn’t make sense for her to drive her vehicle. Alex would just follow her to his penthouse and her safety would be compromised.
“Took an Uber,” she said. “I didn’t want to risk a rental or anything.”
“That’s good.” He steered her to his Range Rover parked in his parking space. Trenton opened the door for her, then ran around the back and slid behind the wheel. “I don’t want him following you to my place. I’ll send someone to your hotel to get your stuff. I don’t think you need to go back there at all.”
Toya nodded, then stared out the window as they dipped in and out of traffic on the way to his penthouse. He didn’t blame her. They were up against one of the wealthiest families in the Hamptons. It would take hard evidence, a lot of it, to take Alex down.
When he parked in his penthouse parking space, Toya was fast asleep.
“Hey, we’re here,” he whispered, tapping her shoulder.
Toya stretched, then pushed open her door before he could get around to open it for her. He led her to his private elevator. It was a quick ascent, and he loved the privacy. When the elevator opened up into his home, he grasped Toya’s hand and pulled her into the foyer. Trenton dropped her hand as she stood taking everything in.
“Trenton this is really beautiful,” she said, making her way around the living room.
“Thank you. Most of the decorating I did myself,” he boasted, proud she liked what he’d done with the place. “There’s a guest bedroom down the hall and to the left. The bathroom is right across the hall from it. My bedroom is the door at the end of the hall,” he pointed out. He didn’t want her to fill pressured to sleep with him by not offering the other bedroom. “The kitchen is fully stocked. I’m going to my office to call Richard to see what I can find out about Alex and get someone over to your hotel to get your things. Make yourself at home.” He put his hands on her shoulders and squeezed. “It’s going to be fine. Don’t worry. Okay?”
Toya nodded. “Okay.”
“Where were you staying?” he asked, giving her a reassuring smile. It was clear to him that the more confident and calm he was, the more her fears were relieved. “I need to call the building manager.”
“Drury Towers.” She walked to the balcony and opened the sliding doors.
“Okay I’ll make that call,” Trenton sighed, making his way to his study. He’d leave her to her thoughts. There was nothing he could do until he got the information he needed from his sister and called Torren.
He closed the door behind him and called the front desk.
“Hello, this is Trenton Blue.”
“Hi, Mr. Blue,” Trisha said. “How may I help you today?”
“Hey Trisha. How are you doing?”
“I’m good, Mr. Blue, and you?”
Trenton huffed out a breath, then settled back into his desk chair. “I’m in a bit of dilemma. I have a friend staying with me. She was booked into another hotel but is no longer going to stay there. Is it possible to send someone over to get her things and bring them here?”
He’d try to be friendly instead of demanding. Trisha could be a hard ass sometimes.
“Sure,” she said, the keyboard tapping sound filtered through the phone. “I think I can spare one of the bellhops. Does she have her key?”
“She does. Just have them buzz when they get to the private elevator.”
“Will do. Glad to be of service, Mr. Blue.”
“No, thank you, Trisha. You’re a lifesaver.”
He hung up. Now that that was done, he needed to call Torren. He hoped his brother wasn’t too busy with meetings today. He dialed his brother then put the phone on speaker.
“Hey, Trent,” Torren answered.
Well, at least he answered my phone call.
Since taking over the company, Torren had been wrapped up in projects and meetings. They rarely got the chance to talk anymore.
“I need you to check up on one of your old friends for me.”
There was silence on the other end. Trenton heard papers shuffling.
“Why didn’t you just come to my office?”
“Because I’m home.”
“Home? Why? It’s not like you to not come to work.” He could just see Torren checking his watch for the time. “You know we have a project on the west coast, right? I want that underway as soon as possible. So, what’s the status on the project?”
Trenton knew Torren was going to have an issue with him not being in the office. He thought Trenton trusted him to do his job. And he would, once he helped Toya.
“Look Tor, I know my job and I need you to trust me to do it, but right now, I need for you to tell me about Alex Graham.”
“What about him?” Trenton heard the suspicion in Torren’s voice.
Trenton sighed. He didn’t want to go through the entire reunion story, especially now. He’d give the cliff note version.
“When I came in this morning, a woman I dated in college was waiting at my office. She needs my help, and I’m going to help her.”
“If she’s in some kind of trouble, you need to let the police handle it,” Torren directed. “What does she need your help with?”
“Actually, I need her help too. She’s the woman I was trying to find to help on the project. It just so happened she came to me.” Trenton shrugged like his brother could see him.
“But you didn’t answer my question, Trent. Is she in trouble?”
“In a way; that’s why I need to know about Alex Graham.” It angered him to even think about the things he put her through. “She’s one of the best engineers I’ve ever met in my life, and I need her on this.” He shifted the conversation away from Toya’s problems.
“Okay then,” Torren relented, accepting his explanation.
“Thanks so, Alex Graham?”
“Yeah. I remember him and his whole family. I haven’t talked to him in a few years, though. Why?”
“Do you remember hearing anything about him being in some trouble with the law?”
Torren was quiet then Trenton heard a door slam shut. “This ’bout the girl,” Torren asked.
His brother wasn’t going to answer without him giving something first. “Yeah.” Trenton sighed. “She used to date him.”
“There,” his brother hesitated, “there were rumors some girl committed suicide at a party over at the Graham’s about ten years ago.”
Trenton snorted but didn’t enlighten his brother.
“There was a witness that said it was murder,” Torren continued, “but I think Alex was exonerated of any wrongdoing.”
It was all unbelievable and pissed Trenton off to think just because someone had money, they could get away with murder and, in the process, ruin so many lives.
“Well, let me tell you about your boy. He killed that girl. Toya was there that night. She saw it. She had to go into fucking witness protection because of him.” He was getting angrier the more he told his brother about what she’d been through. “She left me because of that fucker.”
He didn’t mean to tell Torren that last part. No one in his family knew what happened at school, except for his father. His family never met Toya. And now wasn’t the time to rehash all of that.
“You realize if she’s here and what she saw is true, Alex is going to know, and he’ll try to find her,” Torren warned.
“I know. He already knows she’s here. He called her. That’s why she came to me.” Trenton ran his hand down his face, weary settled at the enormity of the situation. “I have to protect her.”
“I’ll do what I can. But Trenton, be prepared to pull out all the stops. You’re in for the fight of your life.”
Trenton was ready. There was no way Alex Graham was getting away with hurting Toya or anyone else. If it cost him his life, Toya was going to come out of this unscathed.
He hung up with his brother, then sat back in his desk chair with his hands hooked behind his neck. Yeah, they were going to be in for a fight.
Chapter Eleven
Burden Lifted
Once the door to Trenton’s in-home office closed, Toya padded to the kitchen. She hadn’t eaten any breakfast, and she and Trenton had burned a lot of energy. She ran her hand across the black marble donning the island in the middle of the kitchen. This room was beautiful, with black stainless-steel appliances with dark mahogany cabinets stained black. The bright yellow decorations and kitchen accessories made the room pop. She wondered if Trenton decorated this room too.
“Let’s see what we got.” She opened the fridge. Trenton had all the fixings for ham and turkey sandwiches. While she was busy pulling out the ingredients, there was a knock on the door. Toya stiffened.
What if Alex found me?
The thought caused her heart to beat faster, and her breathing became a little more labored as her fear ramped up. Then the door to Trenton’s office opened.
“Hey, do you have the key to your hotel room? They are going to pack your things.”
She let out the breath lodged in her throat. Then made her way to her bag lying next to the couch. Toya dug in the bag and retrieved her keycard, handing it over to Trenton.
“Thanks. Room number?”
“1013, at the Drury Towers.”
Trenton took the card from her and strolled to the door.
Toya ran her hand through her tangled hair. Relief rippled through her body as Trenton gave instructions to whoever was at the door. Tears stung the back of her eyes, but she blinked them away, refusing to cry over Alex Graham or feel sorry for herself or the situation.
“Thank you,” she heard Trenton say, and the door closed with a soft snick.
“Are you hungry?” She asked, keeping her back to him as she retreated to the kitchen. Toya didn’t want Trenton to worry about her in any way. He was already doing so much for her.
“I could eat,” he said, following her to the kitchen. Trenton had always been a bottomless pit. The amount of food the man ate when they were together was ridiculous.
She finished putting together his sandwich while he pulled a bottle of wine out of the wine rack and two glasses from the cabinet. She guessed this situation called for a glass of wine.
I wouldn’t mind something a little stronger.
They both settled at the dining table in front of the large bay window. She could see everything from up here. The view was beautiful despite it being in the heart of the city.
“Toya, are you alright?” Trenton asked, pouring wine into their glasses.
She nodded. “Yes, why?”
“Because all you’ve done since we sat down is stare out the window. Something on your mind?”
“The view is breathtaking,” she answered, purposely not answering his other question.
Their conversation fell into old banter. She forgot how much fun they used to have together. And she was reminded of how much she’d missed him.
