“I don't know but we are about to find out.” Lisa moaned, giving her a small smile. She knew that she wasn't in trouble for anything, she couldn't think of a thing that she had done wrong. Shrugging her shoulders Caroline took over her spot and Lisa quickly walked over to her boss and the CEO.

Lisa watched as they backed out of the factory so that they could be heard over the noise of the machines. Lisa followed and closed the door behind her.

“I hate to pull you off the line.” Her boss gave her an apologetic look.

“It's alright Mrs. Harrison. I don't mind helping out if I can.” Lisa nodded her head, looking at her boss.

Mrs. Harrison was shorter than her, a little chunky but she was always so nice to her. She had blue eyes and hair so short that she would have looked like a man if she didn't have large tits. When Lisa had first started working there she had thought Mrs. Harrison was actually a man until she began talking and began training her.

“Well this won't take long. We want you to sit in on a CEO meeting. We think that you will be a good fit for the advertising line in the shoes that we create here.” Mrs. Harrison told her, right on top of things and getting to the point of why she was called away from her work to begin with.

“My name is Linda and if you are free tomorrow afternoon we are having a meeting about the new shoe that we are putting out and I really want you to be apart of it.” The CEO of the company introduced herself.

“I will be ready for the meeting. Is there anything special I should wear?” Lisa asked, looking at Linda and seeing that she was very good looking for a woman.

“Yes, I want you to wear something professional to the meeting. A dress or a two piece business suit would be great.” Linda smiled at her.

Lisa nodded her head and wondered if Linda wanted her to wear something as revealing as Linda had one. She had a black dress and her tits were just about hanging out of them. She could see Linda's hard nipples through the black dress but she tried not to stare. She looked down at Linda's legs and saw that the dress was much too short to be wearing around the office. It barely covered her upper thighs but again she didn't say anything because she knew that Linda was the CEO and whatever she wanted to wear she could. The shoe company was hers and if it wasn't for Linda she wouldn't have a job. She looked down at the high heels that Linda was wearing that matched her dress and when Lisa brought her eyes back up Linda smiled at her, she ran a hand through her soft, blonde, hair and locked her blue eyes on Lisa's dark blue eyes.

“Great, so I will have Mrs. Harrison come get you an hour before the meeting so that you can freshen up.” Linda nodded her head, ending the conversation as she turned her back and Mrs. Harrison followed her further down the hall heading to her own office.

Lisa stood there for a few minutes watching them go down the hallway. She had a feeling that her life was about to change. She saw good things coming her way and she couldn't wait to get back on the floor to tell Caroline what was going on.

Lisa took her spot back with a smile on her face. Out of the corner of her eye she saw that Caroline was staring at her. She saw a confused look on Caroline's face when she didn't say anything to her.

“Well? Why did Mrs. Harrison want you? Why was Linda here? She's hardly ever here.” Caroline finally asked her, the anticipation was killing her.

“I have a meeting that I'm sitting in on tomorrow. They want to talk about the new line of shoes that are coming out. Linda wanted to see if I was free tomorrow afternoon. I really don't know why they want me there but I'm going to be there. I'm hoping this meeting changes my life, I hope it changes my life for the good.” Lisa told her quickly, she couldn't hold her excitement in any longer.

“Your dream is coming true Lisa. When you first started here you wanted to climb the ladder. You wanted to be something important and it looks like you are finally getting what you want.” Caroline was happy for her, she leaned over and gave her a quick hug before getting back to work.

“I hope this is my big break. I can't promise that it is.” Lisa shrugged her shoulders, she didn't want to get her hopes up too much.

“Well if you do move up the ladder at least put in a good word for me. Even if its climbing the ladder down here. We all have to work to make our way to the top.” Caroline winked at her as she began gluing the soles on to the shoes that were coming towards them.

“I will, I promise I will. We are both very hard workers and we are always on top of everything. I think you are the fastest one after me.” Lisa whispered, hoping that no one around them had heard the comment she made. She wasn't too worried about it though because the room was loud with all the machines running anyways. She would have to be talking really loud in order to have anyone hear her.

“Okay, I will hold you to it.” Caroline grinned at her, she was glad that she was friends with Lisa, they had hit it off the first day Lisa started at the shoe factory. She was someone that Caroline could really talk to. Someone that would help her out if she needed it and they hung out after work a lot of times so she knew that Lisa was a real friend not just a work friend.

Caroline had black hair and dark eyes. She had bags under her eyes and she knew she had to get some sleep. She thanked god that the next day was Friday. It meant the weekend would start and the only thing Caroline could think of for plans was sleeping. She had promised herself she would get some rest and that was what she was going to do.

  Chapter 2

Lisa went home when the siren sounded in the shoe factory. She was the first one out the door to make sure she could find something in her closet to wear because if she didn't it would mean that she would have to go shopping. Lisa had decided to wear a dress, something she hardly ever did and she knew no matter what she wasn't going to be comfortable wearing one but if she was going to climb the ladder than she was going to have change to what the company wanted. It was something she had worked so hard for and now she was hoping she was finally getting the chance to do so.

Lisa went through her closet at home and found a red dress that she had only worn once in her life. Trying it on and looking at herself in the mirror she saw that she looked really good. It hugged her body and showed off her cleavage. Not that she had meant for that to happen but she could clearly see her cleavage and knew that everyone at the meeting would be able to as well.

“I look good.” Lisa told herself with a smile. She applied a light cover of make up and she thought she looked even better. She couldn't wait for the next afternoon even though she was nervous she just had to find out what she could do to help the company out. Obviously they had wanted her for something when it came to going to a meeting where the CEO would be.

Lisa thought about Linda and how Linda had looked at her when she met her eyes earlier that day. There was no doubt that Linda know she had been checking her out. Lisa's hands grew sweaty and her heart was racing thinking about that quick moment between them.

“Don't get your hopes up but when you walk into the meeting room hold your head high and make sure you show that you have confidence in yourself even if you are shaking like a leaf on the inside.” Lisa whispered to her reflection, giving herself a pep talk.

Lisa took off the dress and got the matching flats that went to it. She wanted to make sure she had her clothing set out for the following day. She would have to put on regular clothing so that she didn't wrinkle the dress working in it under her uniform. The last thing she wanted was to show the meeting board a dress that she had been working in all day.

Lisa took a shower and then went down to the small living room she had. It was big enough for just a couch and a small chair. She had an old box television set and just a few channels like the news channel and she didn't mind. She would watch the news all the time if she could.

“Hopefully this is a sign that I can get out of this run down apartment. I could find something better if I got a better job in the shop with better pay.” Lisa murmured to herself as she looked around her living room.

The small apartment that she lived in made her feel depressed. At night time she could hear the neighbors fighting that lived above her. On the weekends it was quiet all day until she was ready to fall asleep for the night and they were so loud that sometimes it sounded like they were in the same room as her. The walls were so thin that whenever the neighbors beside her had a party her pictures that were hanging on the wall would shake from the vibration of the music.

“Yeah, I really have to find a better place to live.” Lisa moaned, turning her eyes back to the television set as the five o'clock news came on.

Lisa wasn't hungry and even if she was there wasn't much food in the house. She had to wait until she got her check in order to get some. She was glad that it was just her, that she didn't have kids or someone with her. She would have been ashamed if she was seeing someone and they wanted to go to her apartment to spend time with her. She wouldn't even allow her mother to come visit let alone anyone else.

Lisa made herself comfortable on the brown couch that had holes in it. She had worn the couch out to her liking. She slept downstairs most of the time because the couch was better for her back then the bed was. She couldn't sleep on the bed and if she did it took her hours to finally get the sleep she was seeking just to have her alarm go off a few hours later.

She turned the living room light on as it got darker, her eyes were glued to the television screen. When the news was over she got one of her books out of the stand and put her reading glasses on. Turning off the television she laid on the couch and began reading. Something she did when she was bored and she was bored a lot when she was out of work, when she was by herself. She had thought about calling Caroline but she felt as if she should be alone that night, she had to get some sleep in order to be aware of what was going on at the meeting. She knew it was going to be a long day. Lisa read a few chapters of her book before her eyes grew heavy and she finally drifted off to sleep. Lisa had fallen asleep before the upstairs neighbors began in with their nightly fighting.

Lisa woke up without her alarm the following morning, she felt her heart leap in her throat until she saw the clock on the wall and saw that it was only four in the morning. She thought about taking the extra hour to sleep but she made a pot of coffee instead, she wanted to make sure she didn't over sleep and be late to work. She knew it wouldn't look good if she showed up to work late on the day that she had be invited to sit in on a very important meeting.

“Don't mess this up girl. Make sure you make a good first impression today and everything else will fall into place.” Lisa murmured, putting a pair of jeans and t-shirt on. She got a small duffel bag and put her dress and her high heels in the bag. She took one more look at herself in her bedroom mirror and walked out, smelling the coffee and hearing the beep to signal that it was done she hurried down the stairs and into the small kitchen.

The kitchen walls were an ugly color brown with cracks in them. There was only room enough for a small table which she had pushed against the wall. Only three people could fit into the kitchen at the time and Lisa didn't like it.

When Lisa first moved in she was happy to be out on her own. The landlord had told her he would be fixing things up for her and he never did. She had lived there for two years and nothing had been updated in the apartment. Lisa wasn't a complainer it was just a place to lay her head when she got done working, always looking forward to a better tomorrow and as she drank her first cup of coffee she was thinking that her better tomorrow had finally come her way. She was praying with all she had that her life was changing, that she would be able to make a better life for herself.

Lisa felt giddy as she drank her cup of coffee. She felt like a teenager going out on a date instead of a grown woman sitting in on a meeting.

An hour later Lisa was making her way to work. She had a nice car and that was something she had taken pride in. It was a small four door car and even though it wasn't car out there she couldn't complain, it got her to where she needed to go and back home again. Sometimes she would go out on the weekends and it got her to places she liked going to as well.

The second Lisa had pulled into the parking lot of the shoe factory she saw that Caroline was just shutting her car off. It was still dark and cool outside when Lisa got out of her own car.

“Here, I thought you might need this.” Caroline walked over to her and handed her a coffee that she had gotten on the way to work.

“Thanks, it's something that I need alright. You don't happen to have anything that can relax me this morning do you?” Lisa laughed, only kidding around.

“You are going to do great, I know you are. Just take deep breaths when you feel as if you are going to start shaking. That's what I do when I go out on dates. It helps me every time.” Caroline advised her.

“Thanks.” Lisa laughed, shaking her head as they walked into the building and went into the break room. They couldn't clock in until six every morning and if they were going to clock in before seven they had to get to work.

Caroline didn't have much luck with men. She had been on several dates and once in a while Caroline would ask Lisa to go with her. Lisa didn't care for her choice in men but she didn't say anything because it wasn't her life to live. She knew Caroline was a big girl and if she didn't think something was right then she would say something.

Caroline and Lisa sat down on the bench in the break room and began chatting quietly and drinking their coffee as fast as they could because they couldn't have coffees on the shop floor.

“Are you ready for this afternoon?” Mrs. Harrison asked, walking into the break room and seeing that Lisa was there.

“I am. I have my clothes in my car. I am really excited.” Lisa smiled at her, nodding her head glad that their boss was going to be there.

“Don't worry about being nervous. Linda has been scoping you out since last week. We've been watching your out the window that looks over the factory and she really likes what she sees. You are going to be happy when she tells you what's in store for you.” Mrs. Harrison gave her a wink as she got a small coffee out of the coffee machine.

“What does she want to see me for?” Lisa asked, she could hear the excitement in Mrs. Harrison's voice. She knew exactly why Lisa was going to be there.

“I promised I wouldn't ruin the surprise for her. She wants to tell you and you are going to be very happy. That's all I am allowed to say.” Mrs. Harrison turned back for the door that led out of the break room without looking at either of them.

“See, you have nothing to worry about. It's obvious that Linda has been wanting you for a special project for a while now. You are the one she wants, it's a good fit for her and I'm going to cross my fingers and pray for you all day today. Even more so when you're in the meeting. Everything is going to go great for you.” Caroline rubbed her shoulders, trying to get her to relax.

“Yeah, come on lets go clock in. I've been clocking in at six every morning this week. I need to make sure I pile on the hours this week. Next week is rent week.” Lisa rolled her eyes. The only one she had allowed inside her apartment was Caroline and that was only for a few minutes.

“If I were you I wouldn't pay rent at all. Not one cent until he fixed everything he said he would when you first moved in.” Caroline pointed a finger at her, talking about her landlord.

“Soon enough I won't be there Caroline. It will all be a bad dream.” Lisa stated, clocking in and putting her uniform on.

“I'm just saying you are crazy. If you do great at the meeting today you might want to think about saving next weeks rent to look for a better place. Take pictures of your apartment so that you can show the next landlord what you had to deal with and why you wouldn't pay the last months rent to him.” Caroline advised her.

“Maybe, we will see how things go.” Lisa nodded her head, she had thought about not paying rent a few times already and with Caroline telling her the same thing she was thinking she was almost ready to just give up on her landlord and do it. To show her landlord she had a back bone and she wasn't going to take living in a rundown apartment any longer.

The girls tossed their empty coffee cups into the trash before they headed onto the floor. As usual they were the first ones on the floor and the last ones to leave when the day was over. They both liked having clean stations at work and they would clean up after everyone left so that they could gain another hour or so of work. They knew it wasn't much over time but when they looked at their checks at the end of the week they were happy with what they made, knowing that working an extra two hours a day during the week really did pay off for them.

Caroline started the machine and they got to work. Neither one of them talking to each other as they concentrated on what was going on in front of them. They usually didn't talk until after first break when everyone was there. It meant that they didn't have to pay attention to every detailed when all their co-workers were on the floor with them doing their jobs and all they had to worry about was doing their own jobs not a hundred different things like they had to when it was just the two of them on the floor. They knew that all the work that they did would eventually pay off. They were going to get somewhere in life when they showed their boss just how hard they were willing to work.

  Chapter 3

Lisa looked at the time at least a hundred times that day, she couldn't seem to take her eyes off the clock. Worrying about the time and wishing it had been a morning meeting. It would have been all over with and she could now relax finding out what they wanted from her. All she could think about was what Mrs. Harrison had said to her, that it was a surprise. She knew for sure that her life was going to change. Lisa knew she wouldn't forget about Caroline, she had made a promise and she intended on keeping it.

Around one in the afternoon Lisa saw Mrs. Harrison standing in the doorway of the factory. Lisa nodded her head and had Caroline take over her spot. Even if Caroline was the third person down the line she would have made her take her spot. Caroline could keep up with the soles of the shoes just as well as she could. She was the only one Lisa trusted to take over her job for a little while.
