  I smile. “That was fun.”

He chuckles. “Glad you enjoyed it.”

“I’m especially glad that you enjoyed it.” I accentuate the ‘you’.

I’m still in my dress, Dalton inches down, lowering himself slightly, finding the hem of my dress. His warm, soft, strong hands trail up my leg, pulling the silky material, until he reaches my waist. Bending down, he slides my underwear towards my feet, and leaves them on the floor.

Still on his knees, his lips go to the apex of my thighs, and he dips his tongue in, sucking my folds. The angle at which he does it hits my clit directly, making me outwardly sigh. Lifting my one leg, Dalton drapes it over his shoulder. His face burrows into me with a sexy slowness that makes my belly tingle. His mouth envelopes me, taking in all of me. My head rears back and an involuntary groan escapes from my throat. Standing up makes me feel everything. Gravity pulls my flesh down while Dalton’s tongue slips in, making me feel more somehow. It’s so erotic.

I can’t even look down at him, he’s so fucking sexy with his eyes closed, making love to me with his mouth. His technique is so adept, like he’s done this to me a million times already. His warm hands gently grasp my rear, keeping me balanced as I ride the pleasure. Trying not to notice that he’s down on one knee is impossible. I have to look away and stop thinking about him actually proposing. He sucks in my flesh again, and I cry out. It feels heavenly. It’s like my body is being taken over by this hot, wanton woman, who isn’t afraid to voice her pleasure. Feeling myself climb as Dalton continues to lick me in my most sensitive area, I want to touch him. The only place I can reach are his head and his arms, so I place one hand in his hair, another on his bulging bicep. I can feel his muscles moving, holding me so carefully so I don’t fall in the throes of passion.

He changes position slightly, hitting my clit in a way that makes me climb right to the top in about ten seconds. “Goooodddd…..oooooohhhhh…..” I shout, not recognizing my own voice. He knows I’m there so he licks faster, bringing me to the edge as my mouth opens wide and I shout so loud I swear the neighbors will hear. My orgasm rips through me like lightning. I can’t hold back. I’ve never felt anything so powerful. I can’t believe I’m still standing. Dalton’s grip on me is strong as he brings me down, slowing his pace gradually, until my cries are just pants.

Lowering my leg, Dalton keeps hold of my rear as he comes up to face me. My dress falls back down my legs as his hands snake around my waist. Embracing me, he holds me tight as my breathing is still rapid and my heart races against him. “Sorry I was so loud.” I giggle.

“Don’t apologize. You enjoyed it.” Dalton kisses my neck tenderly. His clothes are in a pool on the floor. He looks at me. “You’re a little overdressed for bed, Meels.” He reaches the hem of my dress and lifts it over my head. All that’s left is my bra. I unclasp it and let it drop to the floor. We stand there, naked together. Dalton looks me over. “God, you’re unbelievably beautiful.” I don’t know what to say so I just climb into bed. He follows me. His arms envelope me from behind as he spoons me. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, baby.” I say and drift off into a wonderful sleep.

We finish dinner and Dalton brings his plate up to the sink, wrapping his arms around me, kissing my neck in thanks for dinner. “It was great, Meels. Hit the spot perfectly.”

“I’m glad you liked it. It’s one of my favorites.” I made a pizza casserole with salad. Simple but delicious.

“You want to go for a walk?” Dalton offers. “I think Dasher’s up for it.”

“Sure.” I say as I wash the lone two plates and forks.

“Oh, Dasher’s got something to show you.” Dalton says, “He got a new collar.”

“Awww…did you go buy one on your lunch or something?”

He nods. “Something like that.” He calls Dasher, who is enjoying a bone; something we’ve learned helps keep him from begging at the table while we’re eating. The little guy trots over to Dalton, tail wagging, looking at his daddy expectantly. “Show mommy your new collar.”

We both bend down as I observe Dasher’s flashy new red collar. It has little rhinestones all around it, and it’s thicker than the last one. “I even got him a little name tag.” Dalton says.

I pick up the little bone-shaped tag with Dasher’s name and Dalton’s cell phone number on the back. In front of it is something shiny. I can’t get a good look at it because Dasher is growing very impatient. Dalton reaches over and unclasps the collar from Dasher’s neck. He rests the front of it on his hand so I can see clear as day what the shiny thing is.

  It’s an engagement ring.

I look at Dalton and he swallows, glancing at me with warm intensity. We’re both on our knees, but Dalton lifts one of his, so he’s technically only on one. He removes the ring from the collar and pinches it between his thumb and index finger. His other hand takes mine and he smiles warmly. “I’m serious.” He winks.

“I believe you.” I gasp, tears forming in my eyes.

“I know this may seem a bit hasty, but I’m a Ford, and this is how we do things. I always thought that Colton and Wade were nuts, but now I understand. I loved you the moment I met you and I don’t want to call you my girlfriend or my partner…I want you to be my wife.” He divides his gaze between both my eyes. “Will you…be my wife?”

I hiccup/gasp and laugh, placing my hands over my mouth and nose. “God, Dalton…nobody has ever made me feel so complete as you. I’d love to be your wife.” A tear falls down my cheek. Dalton takes my left hand and places the ring on my ring finger. How on earth it fits perfectly is beyond me. He takes a look at it, as though inspecting his investment. It’s so beautiful. At least a full carat diamond, princess cut, yellow gold band. The diamond is so sparkly I almost have to close my eyes when I look at it.

“Do you like it?” he asks carefully.

“I adore it.” I say honestly. His eyes go to my lips and he gives me a long, open-mouth kiss. We rise together and I wrap my arms around his neck, kissing him with quick, playful kisses. He chuckles, kissing me back.

“So, when do you want to do it?” he asks between kisses. “Do you want to do it before the weather gets cold? Have an outdoor wedding? Maybe at Colton’s ranch?”

“Whatever you want. I’ve had my big wedding. I’d like something small and simple.”

“Sounds good to me. Would you like to do it at the ranch?”

“How about in our backyard? Get married at home.” I suggest.

He looks impressed. “We could do that. The backyard is big enough. We could have Dasher in the wedding party.” He winks.

“Maybe Kendra and Wade can sing our wedding song for us?”

“Now you’re talking.” He kisses me. “Where do you want to go for our honeymoon?”

“Anywhere. Maybe somewhere north. Do something like camping or go to a cottage.”

He looks at me and smiles. “Meels, wouldn’t you like a break? Like…no cooking or cleaning? Get pampered a little?”

I lean in and kiss him. “With you around I’m always pampered.” I lift my left hand from behind his head and study my beautiful ring. He catches the gaze.

“You really do like it. Look at you…you can’t stop looking at it.”

I’m still staring at it. “It’s so beautiful, Dalton. It’s perfect.” I look at him. “Just like you.”

He gives me a warm grin and kisses me. “So what do you say? Can I kidnap you and take you away to some uncharted island for a couple of weeks?”

“Surprise me.” I say. “As long as I’m with you it doesn’t matter where we are.”

  Chapter 39

  Dalton

Well, I did it. Ever since Jake’s wedding when I technically proposed to Meels, I knew I wanted to make it official. I’m pretty sure she thought I was just caught up in the moment the night I asked her. But I’ve never been so sure of anything in my entire life. Nobody knows yet. Well, the lady at the jewelry store does, but that’s it. The ring wasn’t hard to find. It was the cut that drew me to it. The lady gave me a shpeel on the ‘c’s of diamonds and showed me the princess cut. Call it corny, but Meels is my princess, so I felt it was fitting to get her a princess cut diamond. When she showed me the assortment, that one spoke to me. The lady even had what looked to me like Meels’s size fingers, so I took a guess. Looks like I was right.

In a way, I can’t believe she said yes. I thought deep down she figured it would be nuts getting married so fast. But I suppose when it feels right it feels right. We made a list of things we want for the wedding, which is very short. Our guest list is basically just family and a few friends. No business associates. Meels called her sister and her mother and told them initially to invite them to the wedding. Both conversations ended with her hanging up on them and her in tears. Something about her marrying the first boy toy she could find, and not waiting for Aaron’s grave to be cold yet. I suppose two less on the guest list isn’t so bad. Three if you count Jake. Michael was shocked but happy for her. He’s coming with his wife and kids. I’m happy about that. Meels thought it would be weird having her brother-in-law there, but he’s a stand-up guy.

I haven’t told my brothers yet, but that’s coming. We’ve decided to do it in a couple of weeks. She’s going to go to one of those consignment stores and get an antique dress second hand. Something she wanted to do with her first wedding. We’re not having any flowers or cake, instead, there’s this kickass cupcake place in town. It’s locally owned and they have a whole bunch of wedding crap in there. We checked it out and they put a package together for us. Including decorations, an altar made of plastic flowers that you’d never know are plastic. I love supporting local businesses and I do it whenever possible. The owners have a caterer in the family, too, so we’ve asked them to look after the food.

Colton’s public relations guy knows a good photographer I’m sure we can use, and no DJ is necessary when you have a little brother who’s a multi-platinum recording artist. I’m on the phone with Colton, telling him the news, when Jack walks in. He overhears the conversation and smiles, shaking his head. When I hang up, he just stands there, staring at me, with this smirk on his face. “I swear the fucking bug is contagious.” He says.

  “What bug?”

“The ‘gee, I met a girl…let’s get married now’ bug. What the fuck! Ever heard of dating? Anyone?”

Shaking my head, I glance at my phone as it rings again. It’s Jake so I ignore the call. “What are you doing next Saturday?”

He guffaws. “I guess I’m in another fucking Ford wedding.” His face falls. “Wait…she’s not pregnant, is she?”

A ‘v’ forms between my brows. “No. Besides, we want to have kids now, anyway. So even if she were pregnant, that would be cool, too.”

“Another one brainwashed.” He says just loud enough for me to hear him.

“Get over yourself. Wait…you wait.” I lift a finger. “You’re the last one, man. Just wait until you meet the one for you, man. You’ll feel it. You’ll want it.”

“I feel it and I want it all the time. I get enough tail.” He shrugs. “Doesn’t mean I have to marry her.”

  “I’m not talking about sex.”

“You haven’t had sex with her yet.” He says it like it’s a statement, not a question. “This isn’t one of those ‘I’m not sleeping with you until we’re married’ things, is it?”

“Shut up, stupid. Of course we’ve had sex. Don’t be ridiculous. I’m talking about when you know this is the person you want to be with forever. You wait. It’ll happen to you, too, and it’ll all make sense.” I look at him. “I thought Colton and Wade needed a head-check, but…now…since I’ve met Meels…I get it.”

Jack smirks, unconvinced. “Bullshit. It’s these girls making you soft is all. You get sucked in after a little tail, start making midnight promises over pillow talk and shit like that. And Amelia’s older and she’s got experience in the marriage department, so she’s a little puppeteer here, man.”

I fold my arms across my chest. “So, what are you saying? That Julia, Kendra and Nora are all like that, too?”

We hear a soft knock at the door, and then Garrett pokes his head in. “Hey, just the guy I want to see.” I say, motioning my older brother in.

Garrett is in street clothes, finished his flights for the day. “What’s up?”

“Meels and I are getting married.” I pause. “What do you think of that?” I don’t stop to let him answer. His face is impassive, like he expected the news. “Jack here thinks that Meels is…and I quote…’a puppeteer’, and from the sounds of it, he thinks Kendra, Julia and Nora aren’t much different.”

Garrett cranes his neck back, frowning, and glances at Jack pointedly. Jack lifts a hand defensively. “That’s not what I said.”

“Then explain yourself.” I say, spurring him on.

“Are you saying that my wife, and mother of my unborn twin babies is a manipulator?” Garrett’s voice is singsong. It takes a lot to offend him, and he’s too damn happy to let Jack get under his skin.

“And that my future wife, and mother of my future babies is the same? Just remember that we both asked these women to marry us. It wasn’t the other way around.” I point out.

Jack smirks, looking defeated. “Fuck you both. And don’t expect me to jump on the marriage train. I enjoy the single life. No woman is going to pull me on that trip. You guys are all cuckholded. I can have any woman I want, any time I want. And I do.”

I blurt. “That’s fine, Jack. You enjoy your single life. We’re not judging you. Just don’t come out and say that we’re getting married and having kids because we were tricked into it. You know that no Ford ever does anything unless we damn well want to.”

  Jack raises his hands. “Fine.”

“Are you going to be there?” I ask, half expecting him to say no.

“Yeah, but don’t expect me to be all gooey and shit. I’m not making any fucking speech, either.”

I lift a hand. “God forbid.”

A little over two weeks later, as I stand at the altar in my backyard, waiting for my bride to walk down the aisle, I glance at Dasher, sitting at my feet. Julia found him a top hat that attaches to his collar. It’s cute as hell and Meels was more excited about that then her wedding dress. Which, as I see her turn the corner, I can tell you that it’s stunning. Wade rented a large white event tent that covers the tables, which were also rented by him. He’s strumming a slow ballad on his guitar off to the side.

My other three brothers are behind me, and Wade will join them too, once Meels is up at the altar. A white length of material softens the walk to the altar as my bride steps towards me with Janet by her side. Meels’s dress is French silk, and I’ll take her word on that. It’s white, but not stark white, it comes to her ankles in the front, but has a short, kind of fish-tail like train in the back that sways as she walks. The long sleeves are lace, and the neckline comes down to show just enough of her cleavage to catch my eye. She’s breathtaking. Her hair is swept up on one side, clipped with a small white rose.

She’s carrying a small bouquet of cream white roses that match the one in her hair. Julia, Kendra, and a very pregnant Nora, are her bridesmaids, and Janet is her Maid of Honor. Garrett is my Best Man. Dasher is the Ring Bearer. The rings are hanging off his collar and he’s sitting so obediently at my feet. His tail starts to wag a little when he sees Meels, but we’ve trained him to sit until he is called. He’s doing a great job.

The pastor is standing under the altar, instructed to do a quick ceremony, which won’t last longer than ten minutes. He’s the same pastor who married Garrett and Nora. Meels’s eyes are locked on mine as she approaches the altar. Her smile warms my heart. She’s so happy. This is the wedding that she’s always wanted. Short. Simple. Small. And we leave for Rio de Janeiro tomorrow. Meels doesn’t know that part yet.

We take each other’s hands as Janet takes her bouquet, and the rest is a blur. I stare into Meels’s eyes, and I see the most beautiful human being in the world. Looking at me like I’m some kind of angelic figure. It’s hard not to kiss her hello, especially when she looks so goddamn amazing. That’s all I can think about. My eyes keep sliding down to her lips and hers are sliding to mine. Before I know it, the pastor is asking us to say our vows. Meels says her first, nailing it, I say mine next, and I stammer in one spot, getting a giggle.

Then I hear Colton struggling behind me with Dasher’s collar as he tries to get the rings off him. That gets more giggles, and I lend a hand. When our rings are on, I get to kiss my girl. I plant a soft one on her at first, letting it linger long enough for the photographer to get a good shot, and then I place one hand on her back and one on her neck, and tip her right over in front of me, giving her a deep kiss. Wade is in the back, whistling, and I can hear a couple of guests wooting, encouraging me to do more. Like hell I am. Not in front of everyone. But you can bet your ass I’m going to make crazy love to my new wife later. Oh…yeah.

We sign the papers and crap and eat until we can’t move, and then Wade and Kendra sing a beautiful slow song while me and Meels dance together. Her dress is so soft and silky, I’m having a hard time keeping my hands where they belong while she’s so close to me. I want to scrap this whole dance party thing and get to the good stuff. But Meels is into it. She’s having fun dancing and mingling with everyone. We skipped the garter and bouquet toss, since the whole point of that is to tag the next couple for marriage, but everyone here is married except for the babies.

As we bid the last guest adieu shortly after ten o’clock, just as the chill starts to come into the air, my new wife wraps her arms around me after closing the door. “Well, Mister Ford. That was one hell of a wedding.” She kisses me long and deep.
