“Desi, you coming?”
Desi looked toward the door of her hotel room to find her teammate, Shae, standing there.
“No,” she answered as she laid her head back on her bed, covering her face with her hands.
Seconds later, she heard the door shut and footsteps nearing her bed.
“Desi, you gotta come out of this shit,” Shae told her, sitting on the side of her bed.
“I’m good,” Desi lied.
“No, you’re not. You’re letting this man fuck with your energy and it’s pissing me off. Fuck him.”
“I’m not sweating him, Shae. I just don’t wanna be bothered. Tomorrow is a big game for us and I just wanna chill.”
Shae stood up, shaking her head. “I know you’re throwing me excuses right now; but I’ma let you be. Just know that why you’re in here hurting, that nigga is probably out doing the same thing that broke your heart in the first place.”
And with those words, Shae was out the door. Desi removed her hands from her face as Shae’s words aggravated her conscience. She was dealing with the aftermath of a horrible breakup that she just couldn’t seem to shake. After spending three years of her life with her ex, Jamel, also known as the King of Akron; Desi was so fed up with love that she didn’t know what to do with herself.
The bad part about the situation was that she honestly felt like she was a part of the problem. All of her life, she’d been attracted to the wrong type of men, and Jamel definitely took the crown for MVP of Mr. Wrong. He wasn’t worth a damn; but somehow, he managed to have Desi’s heart and soul in a headlock.
“Fuck this,” she mumbled, raising up from the bed.
Shae hadn’t said much, but she said enough for Desi to head into the bathroom and check her appearance. She looked presentable in a pair of grey Nike leggings with the matching hoodie. After slipping on a pair of Nike slides, she grabbed her phone, the key to her room, and then left.
She headed to the elevator and patiently waited for the doors to open, and when they finally did, she rolled her eyes at the sight in front of her.
A man.
At this point in her life, Desi was disgusted with the entire male species. It didn’t matter how tall or handsome this brown skin man was. Fuck him. He wasn’t getting any of her attention.
“Lobby?”
Nope.
Not even that sexy ass deep voice was going to get her attention. The most she gave him was a head nod, indicating that the lobby was the floor she needed. They rode down in silence and once they reached the lobby, Desi rushed off the elevator as if the man had some type of disease. She laughed to herself, knowing he probably thought she was crazy.
“Well, I guess our star player decided to join us after all,” Shae announced as Desi made her way toward the jacuzzi where most of her teammates were. Others occupied the pool.
“Yeah, in a whole ass fit though. Where’s your swimwear, Desi?” another teammate by the name of Nicole asked.
Desi took off her slides and pulled her leggings up to her knees before sitting on the edge of the jacuzzi. “I’m not in the mood to swim.”
“You good?” Nicole questioned.
“She’s still bent over Jamel,” Shae answered. “I told her to quit thinking about that man. You know good and got damn well he ain’t thinking about you.”
“Shae, shut the hell up,” Desi griped, her irritation building slowly. “I heard you the first time.”
“Then why are you still thinking about him?”
“She loves him,” Nicole chimed in. “You know how that shit goes, Shae. Desi and Jamel been together for a while, so I understand that it might take some time for her to bounce back from this.”
Shae shook her head. “All I’m saying is you deserve better, Desi. I don’t give a damn how heavy his name is out here. If he ain’t taking care of your heart, to hell with that fool. Shit, it’s plenty of dick out here for you to choose from, so why trip over one that’s for everybody?”
“Damn, Shae,” Nicole laughed. “Can you chill?”
Shrugging her shoulders, Shae replied, “I’m just being honest.”
Desi waited until she had complete silence from both of them before she looked at Shae and asked, “When’s the last time you had a man? That’s right, a fucking decade ago. So, stop trying to clown my situation like you’re some got damn expert on love. I’m tired of hearing you run your negative ass mouth.”
She pulled her legs out of the jacuzzi and slid her feet back into her slides.
“Desi, don’t leave,” Nicole pled.
Rolling her eyes, Desi replied, “I’m irritated. I’ll see y’all in the morning.”
“Desi, cut it out,” Shae countered.
Desi ignored her and began walking off. She wished she would’ve just stayed in her room to begin with. Shae’s comments got under her skin and regardless if they were true, she didn’t wanna hear that shit constantly. When she got back to her room, she took a long shower. She then forced herself to sleep, hoping a good night rest would eliminate some of her stress.

Jamel: Good luck today baby. Sorry I can’t be there
Desi: Fuck you
“That must be the devil himself,” Nicole speculated, walking up to Desi with her gym bag over her shoulder.
They were currently in the locker room getting ready to head out to the court to start warming up for their game. Desi was the starting guard for the Akron Zips women’s basketball team. She was a senior in college, majoring in Fine Arts.
“Yeah, that was Jamel’s stupid ass texting me,” she finally replied to Nicole. “He thinks we’re still on good terms.”
“Niggas. You know they don’t get the hint until you close the door permanently. Look Desi, I know Shae pissed you off last night, but I hope you shook that off. She didn’t mean any harm. Neither one of us did. If we hurt your feelings−”
“I’m good. I just had an attitude and Shae knows how to push my buttons.”
“Don’t be over here talking shit about me,” Shae interjected, walking up behind them. “My ears don’t miss a damn thing.”
Desi laughed. “Shut up. It’s a new day and I don’t have time for your shit. We came to Toledo to get this win, so that’s all I’m trying to focus on right now.”
“We got this,” Shae stated with confidence. “We just need to make sure our star player’s head is in the right place. Are you good?”
Desi hated when Shae referred to her as the team’s star player; but no matter how many times she asked her not to do so, Shae refused to drop the title. “I’m good. Let’s go ball out.”
Shae smiled and Desi did the same as they all left the locker room, following the rest of their teammates. Both of Desi’s parents were working, so they couldn’t attend this game, and her older sister Danae was currently in Atlanta with her fiancé, visiting his parents. She didn’t mind their absence because she knew if they could be there, they would be.
As she stepped onto the court, she had to do a double take at the opponent’s bench. She knew for a fact that her eyes weren’t deceiving her. It was definitely him. The tall, handsome, brown skin man that she refused to give her attention to the night before.
Is he the Coach? She asked herself inwardly as she studied him carefully.
“Desi!”
Snapping out of her daze, Desi turned to her right to find her own head coach now standing in her face.
“You feel like warming up today?” Coach Tammy asked, sarcasm coating her every word.
“Yeah, I just…I thought I saw somebody I knew. Sorry.”
She quickly jogged to the back of the line where her team had already begun their normal routine of layups. As she waited for her turn, her eyes drifted back toward the opponent’s bench, where she was now able to pin point that Mr. handsome was just the assistant coach.
“Why do you keep looking over there?”
Before Desi could answer Shae’s question, it was her turn in line. She was actually happy about that because she didn’t want Shae knowing that she was staring at him. She wondered if he’d remembered her from the elevator.
Even if he does remember me, he probably thinks I’m a stuck-up bitch, she laughed to herself.
Within the next five minutes, warmups were completed and the loud sounding buzzer indicated that it was indeed game time. Desi had always been a confident player; but for some reason, she felt nervous under the gaze Mr. handsome.
She knew there were hundreds of eyes on her, but knowing that he was watching had her off her game. She’d missed a few passes, aborted several plays, and even had the ball stolen from her. It got to the point that her coach had to call time out in order for her to pull herself together.
She eventually returned to the game with a better mindset; however, she still couldn’t seem to ignore the handsome assist
Unfortunately, Desi and her team weren’t able to pull through and ended up losing the game by four points in overtime. Although she put up nineteen points, Desi still felt like she let her team down today. She was on mute as she headed into the locker room to gather her things. When she grabbed her phone from out of her gym bag, she had several notifications from her family, questioning how the game went.
“Don’t sweat it, Desi.”
Looking up from her phone, Desi spotted Nicole standing in front of her. “I know I let y’all down today. I can admit that.”
“You don’t carry this team on your back. If it’s a loss, we all loss.”
“I just felt like I could’ve played better.”
Jamel: I know you mad at a nigga, but I’ma make it up to you. I’ll be waiting for you when you get back to your hotel. Made some moves to get up here. I love you Desi.
Desi rolled her eyes at the text, immediately deleting it. She hated when Jamel did this type of shit. He always bailed on her when she needed him the most, then showed up last minute, trying to make it up to her. It pissed her off even more because she had a bad habit of falling right into his trap.
“We’ll get them next time,” Nicole stated with assurance. “Just try not to be so hard on yourself.”
“Yeah, next time,” Desi replied, even though she didn’t agree.
She zipped up her gym bag and headed out of the locker room before the rest of her team. When she stepped outside, the fresh air seemed to be exactly what she needed. And although she didn’t wanna admit it, she already knew that once she got back to her hotel, she was certainly going to be getting some ‘I’m Sorry’ dick from Jamel.
You gotta do better Desi, she thought to herself.

Chris walked into his home and immediately inhaled the delicious aroma of food. He took off his jacket and hung it in the closet before heading into the kitchen. His eyes landed on his fiancée, Lauryn, as she was bent over removing rolls from out of the oven.
“Hey babe,” she smiled the moment she laid her eyes on him. She sat the tray of rolls down on the stove and removed the gloves from her hands before stepping into his personal space to peck his lips. “How was the game?”
“We won in overtime.”
“That’s great.”
“What happen to you? I thought you were coming today.”
She sighed, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I’m sorry, babe. Malik has us working like crazy at the office and by the time I got home to shower and change, it was just too late for me to try and make it on time. I promise I’ll be at the next one.”
Chris had heard that line from Lauryn countless times. She always had an excuse as to why she couldn’t make it to his games and even though he was only the assistant coach, her support as his woman still mattered. It wouldn’t kill her to show her face once or twice, but she refused to ever do so.
“Look, I know it’s been a long night for you, so let me get you a plate ready,” she offered.
“Appreciate it, but I’ma go take a shower first.”
“Okay. Well, when you’re done, I’ll have it ready for you.” She kissed his lips once more before removing her arms from around his neck.
Chris headed upstairs and prepared to take a shower. He unloosened his tie and began unbuttoning his shirt. He then tossed it into the hamper in the corner of the bedroom and took a seat at the edge of his bed. After retrieving his phone from his pocket, he unlocked it and the first thing he noticed was a Facebook notification.
Opening the app, he realized it was a friend request, but the picture was what had him thrown off. Her face was quite familiar and although he hadn’t heard the name ‘Na’Desi Watson’ that often, he certainly remembered hearing Desi being shouted all through tonight’s game. But he couldn’t help but wonder what the hell she was doing in his friend request; let alone, how did she even find him?
He shook his head and quickly denied her request. He then scrolled through his timeline shortly before tossing his phone aside and heading into the bathroom. He turned on the shower then finished undressing before stepping in and allowing the warm water to relax any tension. Twenty-minutes later, he was squeaky clean and stepped out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist.
A light on his phone was flashing, indicating that he had a text, and when he checked it, he saw that it was from his older brother, Nick. He sat down and quickly replied to the message, but then noticed that he had two new Facebook notifications. When he opened the app, he was surprised to see that Desi had sent her friend request, yet again. But this time, she’d also sent him a message.
Na’Desi Watson: Don’t deny my friend request jerk.
At this point, Chris could do nothing but laugh to himself while wondering if Desi had a few screws loose. He honestly had no clue what her motive was, but he wasn’t sure she would stop contacting him until he gave her some type of response.
Chris Cashton: What can I do for you Ms. Watson?
Na’Desi Watson: Accept my friend request.
Chris Cashton: Is there a reason I should do that?
Na’Desi Watson: Yes, because you wanna be friends with me. Now cut the professional act out. We’re off the court.
Chris ran his hand over his mouth, reading over her last message a second time. He wouldn’t deny that there was frequent eye contact between them; however, he never expected her to turn into a private investigator and hunt him down. He was debating on whether he should respond to her when Lauryn suddenly entered their bedroom.
“Hey, how was your shower?”
“Good. I’ll be down in a minute.”
Lauryn smiled devilishly and kneeled down in front of him. “I know you’re mad that I missed the game today. Let me make it up to you.”
Before he could deny her, she opened his towel and slid her tongue down his shaft. His dick immediately came to life, and there was no way he was stopping her at this point. He leaned back on his elbows and allowed her to go to work. One thing about Lauryn was that she may not have shown up for his games, but she definitely showed out with her mouth.
She was lethal with the head and as she took more of him into her mouth, he already knew she was about to get busy. She felt guilty for constantly leaving him hanging and he felt her remorse as she sucked the life out of his dick. He clenched his jaw as he enjoyed this feeling, knowing with Lauryn’s skills, he’d be ready to bust momentarily.
And just when he thought he was safe, she started to get nastier. She was a pro at deep throating with no gag reflex; but he hated when she started playing with his balls because the shit drove him insane. He didn’t like when Lauryn was in control of him like this, but when she had him at this point, there was nothing he could do about it.
“Fuck,” he grunted, grabbing a handful of her hair.
Lauryn proceeded to bob her head up and down on his saliva coated dick. When Chris felt the nut he desperately needed making its arrival, she still didn’t stop.
“Hmm,” she moaned, sucking him dry. “Do you forgive me, babe?”
Chris released her hair and leaned back on the bed to catch his breath from the massive nut he’d just busted. “Yeah, I forgive you.”
Smiling with satisfaction, Lauryn stood to her feet and headed into the bathroom to brush her teeth. She then returned to their bedroom and told Chris, “I’m going downstairs to warm up your food.”
“Okay. Here I come.”
She laughed, hearing it in his voice that her job had been well done. “Take your time. I love you.”
Even though they had their disagreements at times, and he didn’t always like how she handled things, the feeling was honestly mutual. Turning his head in her direction, he replied, “I love you too.”

Desi woke up the following morning with a headache from hell. She sat up straight and leaned against the headboard while looking down at Jamel while he slept with no worries. Just as she predicted, he was waiting for her at her hotel last night, and somehow managed to fill her guts with that devil dick of his. She snatched the pillow from under his head, instantly awakening him from his deep slumber.
