Twist's Raven, page 8
“I agree. Mace is the man of my dreams, but sometimes, the man of my dreams makes me want to bean him with a frying pan. But loving someone deeply means exactly what Daydream said, when it gets hard, dig in and fight. Now, I’d like your consent to do a little research on your assailant. There are a lot of ways to make someone feel the consequences of their actions without them disappearing. Just sayin’,” Hoax commented.
Raven nodded. “Yes,” she said, sighing. “I think I’m ready to take a little control back. Find what you can, and I’m going to share with Twist. I think he needs to know.”
Hoax nodded along with everyone else. Despite her keeping a secret for so long, they didn’t hold it against her. Instead, they lifted her up and helped her find her way. She really did have the best girl gang.
Chapter Fifteen
Twist helped Raven into Storm Sweeper, putting her bag in. Hoax came running over.
“Hey, I heard through the grapevine that you play guitar but didn’t have yours. This is one of the extras we keep on hand, so like, if it gets blown away in the storm you’re chasing, it’s okay. The sound is good enough to sing to, but it’s not so expensive we’d miss it,” Hoax said.
He heard Raven chuckling behind him. “What about us? Will you miss us if the storm blows us away?” Raven asked.
“Well, of course I’d miss you. I’m just saying if you’re running to take shelter somewhere, don’t worry about the guitar. And here, practice safe sex too,” Hoax said, handing Twist two different boxes of condoms. One was size extra large and the other was a multi-pack of other sizes. He laughed as Hoax turned and ran back toward the house.
“Why two boxes?” he asked.
“She didn’t want you to be embarrassed if you needed the extra smalls,” Snipe yelled from his place on the porch. The heckler was grinning and waggling his eyebrows at them.
Twist handed the boxes to Raven and followed her in. He stashed the guitar case against a cabinet and wrapped a bungee cord around it to keep the item stationary during their chasing.
Raven had been so excited after he asked her to chase today. He’d wanted to do something that was fun and share with her a little bit of what he did.
Last night had been a heavy night, but his girl was strong as fuck. She’d talked about what had happened to her and that she’d never really dealt with it. It had happened about eight months before they lost Charity. Raven had pushed everything into a deep, dark place in her mind to deal with later, when she could.
Before she could grieve the innocence she’d lost regarding dates, they’d lost Charity. Her grief had bloomed again, and she’d been overwhelmed.
Twist had held her close while she told him, her voice strong and her eyes dry. Once he’d told her he was amazed at her strength, she’d relaxed against him. His heart had broken when he’d kissed her forehead, telling her that his arms would always be the safe place she could tell him anything, cry, or scream.
His strong, former Army, fierce woman had finally let her emotions go. She’d sobbed against him until he didn’t believe she had any more tears inside. Once she’d finished, she’d kissed his lips and told him thank you.
Explaining to her that being a shelter for her was his privilege and fed a part of him he didn’t know was there was healing for both of them. Now, he was going to show her a part of his life that he hoped she’d love. They had their whole lives ahead of them, and he wanted her to enjoy this part with him.
He’d texted Snipe to find out if he could do research and locate what auctions for hard-to-find Legos Raven was following. His girl deserved the world. Whether it be books, Legos, or maybe a custom tank for her motorcycle, he planned on spoiling her.
He sat in the front seat, double-checked behind him to make sure everything was secure, and turned on his computer.
“You ready to chase some storms?” he asked.
“Yes, let’s do this. I promise I will not be lying on the floor screaming I’m Gonna Die at any time tonight.”
Twist smiled and headed northeast, which was where he thought had the most possibilities for storms. For now, he was ignoring the condoms because he had enough issues, not walking around with a hard-on all the time with Raven. Everything she did was sexy. Her licking the cream filling out of the doughnut she had at breakfast just about did him in. And she wasn’t trying to be sexy. It was just who she was.
He and Raven chatted as he drove the hundred miles to their holding point until he saw where exactly the storms would intensify. They took turns picking the music. They had similar and complementary tastes, so there was no fighting over the music. Raven had grabbed them some popcorn to snack on. Twist wasn’t really hungry, but there was something about road trips that made him munchy.
He pulled into a travel plaza with a gas station, a restaurant, a dog park, and a place for motorhomes. He’d used this place a couple of times to stage while he waited on the weather.
They could have a bite to eat, relax a little, and wait for what would happen next.
Raven had no idea that the storm would grow and they’d be running to the van to take off. Twist had shown her what he wanted from the video. They were, she guessed, two miles from the storm. It was still daylight. She could see the sheer size of the base of the tornado as they drove toward it.
Twist was driving, talking to the camera and keeping them safe from the tornado. She listened with half an ear to what Twist was saying because she was focused on the tornado. Twist had set a course to keep them parallel instead of driving into it. Two large pickups sped by them, then cut across their lane to race into a field. They were driving directly toward the tornado.
“Are we following them?” Raven asked, hating how her voice quivered.
“Nah, we’re plenty close. I want this first time to be fun, not scary. They’re heading directly into the path,” Twist said.
“Do you think they have those augers like I saw in that movie?” she asked.
“I’ve never seen them on an actual storm vehicle. I guess it could work, but it would all depend on the surface you sent them into. Think if you tried to do that in a freshly plowed field where the dirt has been loosened. So, depending on how strong the winds are, you might be okay, or you might be pulled along with the tornado,” Twist said, checking the tornado, then pulling to the side of the road and turning back around. He motioned for Raven to video the tornado.
“It looks like it’s headed away from us but look at the base of that one. It is a monster. As always, don’t do this unless you’re a trained spotter. I want all of you to stay safe. Remember, if you like my videos, hit the subscribe button to not miss out,” Twist said.
Raven turned the camera off. Twist had said to turn it off when he mentioned the subscribe button. He opened his door and came around to her. He helped her out of the van and pulled her into his arms.
“Well, what did you think of your first time chasing a storm?” he asked.
Raven leaned against Twist. His hair was pulled up in one of his man buns. She slid her hand into his hair, tugging out the hair tie.
“I think I liked chasing with you. And now the adrenaline is rushing through me. Whatever shall we do to expend it?” she asked.
His smile was all the answer she needed. She tugged him just a little lower so she could reach his lips. The cooler air the storm had left had her shivering, or maybe it was Twist’s fingers sliding into the opening of her top and drawing patterns on her breast.
“We can either go in the van here on the side of the road or I can drive us about five miles to a trucker’s rest spot where people stay overnight and no one will think twice of us parked there,” he said.
“Rest stop,” she replied.
She’d laugh at the swiftness of Twist getting them on the road if she wasn’t so dang horny and needing him in the worst way. Maybe she should get them started a little early. She unbuckled her seat belt because she couldn’t reach what she needed if she was in her seat. Moving between their seats on the floor, she slid her hand across his thigh, tiptoed her fingers up his hard cock straining the zipper of his jeans, and swiftly unbuckled his belt.
“What?” Twist asked, but she was already unzipping him and pulling his hard cock out of his underwear. Well, she knew he wouldn’t be needing the extra-small condoms. Twist had more than enough to please her. Wrapping her fingers around his shaft, she held it and swiped her tongue around the head, licking down to the underside, then back up again. A shiver worked its way through Twist’s body. She leaned closer, licking a drop of pre-cum.
“Oh fuck, please don’t let us get stopped,” Twist moaned as she put her lips over the head and took him in her mouth. Laving his shaft, she took him as deep as the position she was in would allow. It wasn’t nearly enough. Twist’s thighs were tensing. She continued pumping him while sucking him deep. Twist’s abs were hard as a rock.
“Please stop. I’m not sure I can keep from coming in your mouth,” he said.
“I want to taste you. We have time for you to recuperate. Come down my throat,” she said, licking around the head and then sliding him deep, working him until the first spurt hit her tongue. She worked him until she had every last drop. She tucked him in his jeans after licking him clean. She’d never enjoyed giving anyone head, but with Twist, the taste of him and the sound of his shout when he came was something she wanted to experience again.
Raven watched Twist as he stalked toward her. He’d parked and then closed up the vehicle, along with adding shades that blocked the outside world. When he’d finished, he’d told her either he could rip her clothes off or she could take them off.
She’d grinned at his frantic tone as she quickly removed her clothes. She was lying on her side on the bed he’d pulled down from the ceiling. Twist was jacking his cock while watching her. He’d already donned a condom. He wasn’t wasting any time.
He was hard and she was ready for him. He placed one knee on the bed, joining her. Her legs fell open to welcome him. His finger swiped through her cleft. Her pussy had been wet for him since he’d let her taste him, but she appreciated him double-checking she was ready. He notched himself at her entrance.
“Do you want this?” he asked.
“Come home, Twist,” she said.
He surged inside her in one thrust. Oh, friggin’ hell, he filled her! When he moved inside her, building her up, she followed. She raised her legs close to his hips to take him deeper.
“Woman, I want to last,” he said, eyes blazing.
He was rubbing that spot and she couldn’t hold back a moan. Her breasts rubbed against his smooth chest. His hair had come loose and was brushing her neck along with his beard as he kissed her face. He grasped her hands with his, holding them as he powered inside her. Pleasure built until it detonated in her center, making her scream his name. Twist followed immediately after, his chest heaving with his breaths. She chuckled, making Twist cock his eyebrow.
“I was thinking that I’ll never let another person go storm chasing with you if this is what I can expect if I go,” she said.
He grinned, pulling away to take off the condom. He tied it and tossed it in the trash can. He lifted the sheets and slid her under, joining her once she was situated.
“I would like nothing more than for you to go storm chasing with me all the time,” Twist said.
She leaned her head on his shoulder. She was getting tired. “I’m sleepy. Is it safe to stay here awhile?” she asked.
“Yeah, the storm has passed. We can catch some sleep, then head back early. We don’t want to miss any of Halloween in Honey Creek,” Twist said.
“Nope, and I have the perfect idea for a costume for you,” she said, closing her eyes.
Chapter Sixteen
It was still dark out at five a.m. but if they wanted to get back early enough to help with Halloween, they needed to get going soon.
He strummed the guitar. He’d always enjoyed playing and singing. He played the song that Raven had selected to play three times yesterday. He strummed the notes and then softly sang the words to Florida Georgia Line’s H.O.L.Y.
Because he was high on loving her. She’d changed everything for him. While he sang, she stirred. She rolled toward him, her blonde hair tousled. Her big gray eyes opened and looked at him with so much love that it brought tears to his eyes. He’d been searching for her, and he hadn’t realized it until she’d walked into his life.
The glare she’d shot him until she smoothed her features out the first time they met would be one of the memories he cherished. He sang the chorus again.
Their life wouldn’t be easy. The path Raven and the Honey Creek Badgers MC had chosen would require diligence and sacrifice. But for her, he’d give up whatever he needed to.
He wondered if Raven wanted kids. A little girl with blonde pigtails like Raven, learning to work on motorcycles or falling in love with meteorology.
His life was full, and he was thankful he’d consumed too much coffee while storm chasing and had to pull into that rest stop right when Raven was there.
A small change and he could have missed out on the woman he couldn’t imagine life without. He’d asked Booker, Lexi, Maureen, and Compass to come for Halloween. He needed to text them and have Booker get Twist’s mother’s ring out of his room. Life was too short to waste even a moment. He’d talk to Raven’s dad and mom today and lock down his woman tonight before she had second thoughts.
Raven waited until he strummed the last note before she scooted out from under the covers, grabbing his extra shirt and slipping it on before sitting beside him.
“I like hearing you sing and play,” she whispered.
“I like waking up beside you. Shall we get dressed and get on the road? I don’t want you to miss out on anything. For the parade, how do you want to ride?” he asked. He’d do whatever she wanted because part of tonight was honoring her friend’s favorite holiday.
“I usually ride myself, but I want to be able to ride with my man like Hoax does. Is that okay?” she asked.
“Okay? It’s fucking fantastic,” he said, tasting her lips before getting dressed. He had a lot to accomplish today.
Chapter Seventeen
Twist’s sweaty hands gripped the handlebars of his borrowed bike. He wasn’t making Raven ride on the back of his without a good seat. Mace had an extra one with a seat for Raven.
He’d talked with Raven’s parents and received their blessing. He’d also finished helping set up the last of the games for the carnival. He’d coordinated with Hoax and Mace about when to do the proposal. He’d even found time to take Snipe and Buzzard aside and ask for their blessing, too. They’d looked out for her when he didn’t even know her name, and he wanted them to continue to be a part of her life.
And now he was riding in the front of the parade as the Honey Creek Badgers MC kicked off the town’s Halloween parade. There were way more people on the streets waving at them as they rode by than the town’s population. Raven had said people came from nearby towns because the event was a no-cost event.
Mace made the turn, and they all followed into Honey Creek Park and across the road that spanned the creek to park in their area. Twist waited while everyone gathered around Mace to hear what he’d said were last-minute instructions before they started the parade.
Twist glanced over to where Raven’s parents were, along with his friends. Booker had gotten him the ring right before they lined up at the parade.
“Twist, if you and Raven could come up here along with Booker,” Mace directed from his stance on top of the small stage they’d made for tonight.
Twist wiped the sweat off his hand before he took Raven’s and walked with her to Mace.
“First off, I want to say welcome to Booker. I’ve talked today to War, the President of Bluff Creek Brotherhood MC in Kansas, along with Booker, who is one of the nomads. All Bluff Creek’s Chapters, including their nomads, have agreed to be ally clubs for Honey Creek Badgers MC,” Mace said, pausing to let the yells quiet down.
“Now, due to the uniqueness of our club and that this is the first time we’ve faced this issue, War, Booker, and I have come up with a solution. Twist’s time with Bluff Creek will negate his time as a prospect. Twist, do you come to the Honey Creek Badgers MC and make this vow of your own free will?” Mace asked.
“I make this of my own free will. I will uphold the vow to the Honey Creek Badgers MC. My vow will stay true,” Twist said, repeating the words Mace had him memorize.
“Now that he’s a Honey Creek Badger, Twist has something he’d like to say.”
“I had no idea that stopping for a pit stop would have me interrupting a quest that would change my life. Britt “Raven” Meadows, you have entranced me with your strength and your love for your friends and family. I want to spend the rest of my life loving you. Will you marry me?” Twist asked, dropping to one knee.
Raven smiled through the tears pooling in her eyes. “Yes, I will,” she said, holding out her hand. He slipped the ring on her finger and tugged her close.
“You’ve made me the happiest man,” he said, kissing her lips to the roar of their friends.
Raven helped with the carnival’s games, but she spent just as much time showing her ring to people when they asked, which was often. Twist told her after the proposal it had been his mom’s ring. She’d never dreamed she could have this with the man of her dreams.
After what had happened to her, she’d been shy about giving all of herself to a man. But with Twist, she didn’t have any reservations. His love for her blazed in his eyes.
She’d met Lexi and Booker, who were so sweet. She recognized Booker from one of her romances as the cover model. Twist was hot enough to be one, but she wasn’t sure she wanted to share her man with the world.
