  The trail widened, and the horse cantered across the open field. Amaria could see the arena in the distance. The tall white walls, highlighted by the moon’s light, looked smaller to her now, not as glorious or important as they once were. She smiled. For the first time in her training, she understood her role completely. She was, after all, a warrior – fierce and fearless, a ferocious force with bow and blade, a beast with a steel heart and fire in her belly. Oorah! She was ready, now more than ever, to face whatever battles were brewing in the new moon and beyond.
