Their Rising Sun, page 12
“Me too.” Castien left the kitchen and stopped at the hallway.
Laughing, Serge sat on the sofa and turned on the TV. There wasn’t much on besides movies and shows they streamed in from Earth’s satellites. They didn’t have their own programs, although Reagan—one of the dragons’ mates—was working on a way to deliver news to all the people of Daeria.
“Cas, come sit down.”
The healer glanced at him. “It’s been three days!”
“Yes, I know.” Serge stared at Castien and shook his head. “We have many, many years with her. There will be other times that she needs her space. We need to learn to give it to her. No matter how much it drives us crazy.”
After a long while, Castien sat next to him on the sofa. “I know. And times where she will go off with each of us individually.”
Yeah. As much as Serge wanted her to himself and at his side every possible moment, he had to share her with three other males. “Are we insane for wanting to do this?”
“Yeah.” Castien chuckled. “But can you really make her choose and risk losing her all together?”
Serge growled.
Castien grinned like an idiot. “Didn’t think so.”
Blake came out of her bedroom and stood at the hallway entrance and stared at the two of them. Her dark hair was wet and fell in waves around her shoulders. She wore a thin pink sweater that was long enough to cover her hips and a pair of black jeans that clung to her curves.
Damn, she was hot.
Serge and Castien jumped up at the same time and moved toward her. That was when she moved, meeting them halfway. She took each of their hands and squeezed. “I missed you. You would think traveling would make me tired, but I don’t want to sit in the house. It’s such a beautiful day.”
Castien slipped an arm around her waist and brought her hand to his lips. “Would you like to meet Serge’s and my wolves?”
Her eyes brightened and widened at the same time. “That would be amazing. I met Mace’s but that was because he was hurt and had to heal. Then I healed him and…”
Castien stepped back and studied her. “Wait. What? Is Mace okay? I mean I saw him and he looked okay. What happened?”
Blake told them about the leosier and Mace being injured. “He’s fine now.”
Castien frowned, and Serge knew the healer was feeling bad for not checking in with Jericho and Mace about how things went. Offering Blake a smile, Castien said, “I’ll make sure to check on him when he returns.”
Blake leaned into Cas and kissed him lightly on the lips. “Of course. That would make both of us happy to know there isn’t anything serious going on. After all, you are the healer.”
Serge watched as Castien’s features lifted and desire flared in his eyes. Serge, too, wanted to say screw it and take Blake to the bedroom and ravish every inch of her.
“So where are we going?”
They called it the meadow but it was nothing like the meadows Blake had seen on Earth. The grass was blueish green. Wildflowers grew randomly throughout in assorted colors. Some of the them had more than one color, almost a marbling effect on the petals.
There was a lake to her right with beautiful trees that reminded her of weeping willows only the leaves looked like purple crystals that reflected the sunlight.
“This is so pretty.” In fact, everywhere she’d been on the planet was beautiful.
When she turned to the guys, they were stripping their clothes off. Heat filled her body and her panties dampened.
They froze and stared at her and she didn’t even hide her ogling. They’d had sex already and she was past being shy about letting them know she liked what she saw.
Serge gave her a sexy grin. “Looks like someone has something else in mind besides meeting our wolves.”
She sucked in her bottom lip and tried to look innocent. They started it.
Castien smiled wide. “Let’s go for a swim. The water is warm.”
Looking around, she didn’t see anyone else. Why not? She’d taken all kinds of risks and explored new things since arriving. Might as well add skinny dipping to that list.
She peeled off her clothes, making sure she took her time. The hunger in her guys’ eyes as they watched her fueled her desire and gave her a sense of power over them. When she was naked, she motioned to the water. “After you guys.”
They glanced at each other then back at her. Their wolves entered their eyes and their features turned wicked. Then they started prowling toward her. She backed up, laughing. “What are you two plotting?”
They rushed at her and she squealed, then ran to the water. Serge was the first to catch her. He picked her up by the waist and carried her into the lake. “It’s not nice to tease your mates.”
She kissed him quickly. “That goes for you too.”
Once in the water, she wrapped her legs around him and rested her arms on his shoulders. She rolled her hips, rubbing her clit up and down his cock. Sensations ran wild within her. Desire heated her from the inside out.
Serge claimed her mouth. The kiss was raw and full of passion. Behind her, Castien nipped at her shoulder and she whimpered.
Serge broke the kiss and growled softly, then he moved his hips back and thrust forward, entering her. She cried out in pleasure and tightened her legs, squeezing him as close as she could get him. The feel of him moving inside her, stretching her, nearly pushed her over the edge.
She moved with him. With one arm around her waist, he moved the other up her back to fist a handful of hair. A groan escaped her as he pulled the strands to expose her neck. Then he bit her. Sharp pain made her gasp but quickly turned to pleasure so intense, she came hard.
Just as the last shudder of the orgasm left her, she felt Castien at her back. He gripped her hips, then bit her other shoulder right at the bend of her neck. She cried out in pleasure as another orgasm rocked through her.
Serge growled out his pleasure as he climaxed. Castien shook behind her like he was trying to hold himself together. Reaching around, she wrapped her fingers around his thick cock and stroked.
The water of the lake moved with them, sloshing around them. She stroked Castien faster as Serge thrust deeper inside her. Every movement pushing all three closer and closer to another explosive release.
Pleasure and desire bounced between them through the newly formed bond that linked them. Intense, raw passion exploded from deep within. She screamed as they came all at once.
She sank into their arms. Every bone in her body felt like jelly. A warmth settled in her heart and she swore it moved to her core. Serge kissed her mouth while Castien kissed her temple.
Once she was sure she regained the function of her muscles, she swam out of Serge’s embrace. She floated on her back and watched the purplish sky with puffy white clouds. “It’s nice here. When the rogites aren’t attacking because they want my blood.”
Castien swam beside her. “What were you able to find out on your trip?”
“Fera confirmed I’m the descendent of Xalo. I can give and apparently take life. I’m not sure I want to explore the taking a life part of my powers. Yet, I can see why it is needed to balance out everything.” Blake ducked under the water and came back up.
Castien gripped her arm and he looked concerned for her safety. From drowning or the rogites, she wasn’t sure. Probably both.
She threw her arms around his neck. He set his hands on her hips as they treaded water. “I can sense your power growing. How do you feel?”
“I feel great. I am concerned that I’ll lose control over it. A Graxecon by the name of Osad has been visiting me from the dream world. He’s been helping me with my magic.” She watched Castien draw his brows together.
Serge popped up out of the water beside her. “What does he look like and has he contacted you outside the dream world?”
The edge in Serge’s tone annoyed her. “You don’t need to get jealous. No, Osad hasn’t contacted me outside the dream world. I don’t think he can. The last time, he mentioned he was stuck there. It was a punishment for a crime he didn’t commit.” She told them what Osad told her and about how she put life back into the dead land he took her to.
Castien studied her for a long moment. “It is possible the Graxecon has sent you a teacher.”
Serge grunted. “Possibly. But if he contacts you in person let us know.”
“Okay.” She kissed Castien. “I questioned him. At first, I thought it was odd. But I truly believe he is helping me control my powers. I already feel stronger and more confident. Plus, I’ve learned a lot about what I am turning into. But I’ll let you know if he shows up on my doorstep.”
“Good,” both guys said.
She studied both of them. “Now, can I meet your wolves?”
“You bet.” Serge swam back to the shore of the lake.
Castien hooked an arm around her waist and swam with her. When she got out of the lake, Serge handed her a blanket from the transporter. She wrapped it around her. The air was cool, and coming out of the warm water gave her a chill.
The guys stood a few yards away. Castien asked, “You ready?”
She nodded, and they shifted. It wasn’t a slow process, but it wasn’t lightning fast either. Their skin glowed at first and then flashed bright white as they completed the shift into their wolves.
It was easy to tell who was who. Serge’s wolf was silver with those amazing gold eyes. Castien was light brown with black brushed over the tips of his fur. His paws were black.
Smiling, she waved. “Hi.”
She wasn’t sure if they understood her in that form. But why wouldn’t they? If their wolf peeked out at her through their humanoid eyes, then the humanoid part of them was inside the wolf looking out. It made sense to her.
Moving closer to them, she held out her hand while holding the blanket around her with the other. Serge moved forward first. Instead of sniffing her hand, he licked it then rubbed his big body against her legs.
Castien trotted to her and nudged her hand so she stroked his large head. She laughed. “You two are beautiful. Let me get dressed and we can play.”
She went to the transporter and grabbed her clothes from the back that opened like a hatchback on Earth would. Once she was dressed and her shoes on, she folded the blanket and laid it inside, then turned to face her wolves. She stared at them for a long moment before she took off running.
They instantly chased after her and were on her heels within seconds. Serge playfully snapped his teeth at her. She stopped and ran in the other direction. Castien cut her off.
Laughing, she let them chase her for a little while until she turned the tables and chased them.
She stopped and sat on the ground, trying to catch her breath. Both guys plopped down beside her, panting from all the exertion. After a few moments, she lay down with her head on Serge’s side and her legs draped over Castien.
“This has been a great day. Thank you.”
Suddenly, the wolves tensed under her and their heads went up, staring at the forest to her right. Tingles formed on her arms and scalp. Then she felt their energy.
Rogites.
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
Blake wasn’t going to run from those monsters. She knew more about them and had a guess that somehow, she could control them. At least, in theory.
Serge and Castien charged toward the group of rogites, slicing through the skin of the first two with their claws and snapping their teeth. While they had the beasts somewhat distracted, Blake focused on the ground and the roots under it, then extended her mind out to the trees. She envisioned the roots coming out of the ground, and as soon as she did, the earth under her feet began to shake.
Moments later, large, thick roots broke through the grass and crawled toward the rogites. “Serge. Castien.”
They glanced at her and then noticed the roots. Both guys appeared to smirk and jumped in the air. They were beautiful and she could tell they had trained together for a long time.
Glancing around, she eyed the lake and wished she had power over the water. Even though Fera said she could control the elements, the water didn’t call to her like the trees and the flora.
Movement to her left made her snap her gaze to the rogite that escaped the group the roots were gathering in a cage. The sneaky little bastard even snuck by the guys. And he was heading straight for her.
She panicked and ran. Her emotions were all over the place and the ground shook again, then the sun burned hotter. Her body tingled all over and it felt like she was about to burst any moment.
Turning to jog backward, she thrust her hands out in the direct of the rogite chasing her. Nothing happened. Not that she expected anything to, but it was worth a shot.
Man, for an undead alien, he could move! She was so not in shape to be running from monsters.
Just then the trees grew taller, the branches waved in the air like arms, and their root systems pulled up out of the ground like legs and feet. She skidded to stop, her heart hammering in her head. Fuck. Now what?
All around the lake the trees were coming to life. Was she doing that?
“Blake!”
She turned in the direction of Serge’s voice. He pointed at her. Both her wolves had taken their human shapes. “You’re fucking glowing.”
What? She looked down and sure enough, her skin had a pale-yellow glow. What was happening?
Castien ran to her. “We need to get her out of here before she calls more of those fuckers.”
His statement put fear in her gut. Was she calling more? How many more could there be? Behind her guys, in the distance, she saw a wall of rogites moving at her in alarming speeds. She tried to stop her skin from glowing, but the more she panicked, the worse it got. Then a feeling of power filling her began to build and she had the sensation that she would burst at any moment.
It was much stronger than when she was in the dream world with Osad. She barely had control over the power then. She definitely wouldn’t be able to control the growing power inside in that moment.
Focus, Blake. The rogites were undead. Could she bring them to life? Narrowing her gaze on the beasts charging at her, she held out her hands and thought of only giving life. As if her thoughts were commands, her powers burst from her palms and straight to the rogites.
Soft golden light hit the group of undead monsters and they stopped and watched the magic swirl around them. When the glow of the light faded, she saw the rogites weren’t savage, blood-hungry undead. They were alive. And they stared at her as if looking for some kind of direction.
Blake didn’t know what to do with them.
Serge walked over to her. “What happened?”
“I think I brought them back to life. But they still seem like they aren’t really home.” Blake glanced to Castien, who shrugged.
“See if you can control them. Give them a command,” Castien suggested.
Blake turned her attention to the rogites. They were still staring at her like they were waiting on something. “I don’t know what to tell them.”
Serge shrugged. He wasn’t much help. She figured she’d tell them a simple command. “Take two steps back.”
Together the group of rogites did as she said. Hope sparked in her chest. They listened! She tried another. “Turn around.”
Again the whole group moved at once. She smiled and glanced at her guys. “Now what? Do I just tell them to go home? I don’t think that is the right thing to do.”
Castien moved closer to her. “You’re right. I don’t think they are fully alive.”
A snarl cut through the air, drawing her attention back to the group of rogites. One by one, they started to turn back into their undead states. Oh, no. It didn’t hold. “What did I do wrong?”
“Nothing,” Serge said as he crouched, ready to defend her.
Well, she wasn’t going to stand down or run from them. It was time to test the killing side of her powers. She hoped it worked on the undead. Then again Fera said only the gods could kill the rogites without having to set them on fire.
Calling her power again, she gasped as it immediately filled her, ready to do her bidding. It was definitely more powerful than before. This time she was more confident in her control. She gathered it up into a ball within her. Then she glared at the rogites and threw out her hands, pushing all the power she gathered out toward the beasts. “I take your life and free you from your shells.”
She wasn’t sure where the words came from. They just popped in her mind as she thrust her power out to the monsters.
The golden light again swirled around the rogites, but this time it was darker in color and energy. After the magic twisted around them once, it started attacking them. Blake gasped and covered her mouth. She hadn’t expected it to be so violent.
The rogites screeched as the power consumed them. Blake covered her face, unable to watch. Then the screaming from the rogites grew louder. She covered her ears. Castien drew her into a hug and she instantly buried her face into his chest.
Then everything fell silent. She lifted her head. The rogites were gone. “What happened?”
Serge rubbed her back. “They just disappeared.”
Blake stood straight. “Like dematerialized? Like they have the other times we fought them?”
“Yeah, it seems so.”
Frustration flowed in Blake’s veins. “Then my magic did nothing to them! I’m not strong enough to stop them.” She faced Serge and put her hands on her hips. “What are we supposed to do? Start carrying flame throwers or something?”
He smirked and his wolf flashed in his eyes. “That’s not a bad idea. I’ll have Barrett work on that.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Blake tried to convince the guys she was safe in her apartment for the night. After all, the Pinnacle Crown and the whole Empyrea area were warded against attacks. The guys were stubborn and insisted on being her protectors.
