  I am so sorry for everything my family has put you through. I never meant for any of this to happen. I know as long as I am in your life, you’ll be a target in the vampire world. I set you free. I am leaving. I need to find out who I really am and where I belong in this world.

  I know now why vampires and witches should never be together. There is only pain that can come from a union like that. But please know, Maxie, what I told you was never a lie. I love you. And I will always love you.
