Alexis's Memories, page 38
“They’re gone,” Alexis cried, yet in the recesses of her mind she heard Jaden’s unfailing words of devotion. I love you, Alexis. I will always love you. You are my heart.
She rubbed the tears from her eyes and sniffed. What am I doing? I have to go to her, tell her that I remember. That I’m sorry.
Alexis fumbled for her phone and pressed Jaden’s number into it.
“Hi. You’ve reached Jaden. Leave a message and I will get back to you when I can.” The machine beeped.
“Jaden, it’s Alexis. I have to see you. Please call me back as soon as you get this,” she said then ended the call.
With shaking hands she collected the letters, the small pieces of Jaden’s heart which she had shattered. She gently unwrinkled the one she had thrown. Folding it with loving hands, she tucked it back into its envelope. After retrieving the single rose and nestled it back into the stack of letters, Alexis sat on the bed, her eyes on her silent phone.
What if she is too mad and doesn’t call back? Alexis thought. I should give her a reason to call, to meet me.
She once again dialed Jaden’s number and it went straight to the answering machine.
“Jaden, I’m sorry about what I said and did. I…I remember, Jaden. I remember everything. When you get this, meet me at the farmhouse. I love you.” Alexis hung up and held Jaden’s letters against her heart. “Okay,” she said, standing.
Leaving the Egipcion estate was not easy, but with a few well-chosen words at the guard captain, he let her pass. The black Saturn sped down the road, bringing Alexis closer to her destination, closer to Jaden. As the light faded from the sky and day became night, the farmhouse came into view.
Thirty-Eight
THE BRIGHTENING SKY could not breach the walls of my sanctuary, nor could I view the fading moon or diamond-like stars. Lying on the hard, dew-dampened cavern floor, I listened to the roar of the water pounding the cliffs and tasted the salty mist. I had not bothered with the torches, thus the darkness enveloped me just as lonely sadness enveloped my heart. For the first time in countless centuries, I couldn't bear the sunrise. It reminded me too much of her golden hair and peering emerald eyes, and the thought of one more day alone was too painful.
I could only feel, not show…never show the painful sting and deep cuts left by her words upon my already damaged heart. Fitting, I should end up like this…alone. I did not deserve her love; there are no fairytale endings for people like me.
I closed my eyes and again I wished for death as the symphony of water against rock continued in a deep endless boom.
Jaden, I’m so sorry. I see you, I see and I’m so sorry. My eyes shot open and I sat abruptly. “Alexis?” I said out loud and I searched the darkness for her.
Ironically, my eyes found her beautiful gems, but I knew they were not hers, not really…only my imagination. A lonely, romantic heart wishing and dreaming of love. The lingering hopes of a lost and forgotten soul.
What is wrong with me? I rubbed my head as I stood.
Electricity hit me hard and painful waves sent me to my knees. “What the fuck?”
Jaden…I could hear Alexis’s sad, desperate voice calling me again and a need filled me like I had never felt.
Alexis. I have to go to her, I thought as another painful wave washed over me. “I’m coming, Alexis. I’m coming,” I said as I made my way back to the grove.
I reached the airport in less than an hour and was lucky enough to catch a departing fight to England. The painful, nagging need to get to Alexis consumed me as I tried to sit still for the plane ride. My thoughts were scattered images of finding her and her people dead.
London’s airport was a crowd of people and it took me nearly twenty precious minutes to get to a place where I could run freely without bringing attention to myself. I didn’t know how, but I knew where I was going. It was as if Alexis was guiding me to her.
The farmhouse and surrounding grounds laid in a blanket of silence. The sun warmed the earth and birds chirped nearby. Nothing indicated danger of any kind but I approached with caution. If anyone discovered Alexis’s and my bond they could easily use it to lure me into a trap. Entering the house, a floorboard creaked and Alexis’s voice broke the stillness. “Jaden?”
She appeared from the dining room still dressed in the same clothing from the other day. “Jaden,” she cried and raced over throwing her arms around my neck. “You came…you came.”
I peeled her off me and searched the rooms. “Who is here with you?”
“No one,” she said, her brows coming together.
I went to her and inspected her as thoroughly as I could without touching her. “Are you hurt?”
“No.”
“Were you in some kind of danger?” I asked, still looking for whatever had made her call me to her.
“No.”
“Dammit, Alexis. I thought you were in trouble,” I snapped, my fears disappearing.
“Why would you think that? Didn’t you get my messages?”
“I haven’t had my phone on me since the meeting.”
She closed some of the distance between us and asked, “But if you didn’t get my messages, how did you know to come here?”
“You called me, forced me to come to you.”
“Forced?” she asked her eyes wide.
“Yes, through our bond.”
“Bond?” she asked, her fingers pulling at the hem of her wrinkled violet tunic.
“Yes. It was created when I consumed your blood, the first night we met. It allows you to call me if you are in danger or need me,” I explained then added, “But, if you add magic to your call, it becomes a command. It filled me with an overwhelming desire to do your bidding.”
“Did I hurt you?”
“Let’s just say it wasn’t a pleasant experience,” I replied, frowning.
With a soft “oh!” Alexis turned from me and wrapped her arms around herself.
I started towards her, but stopped as soon as I could feel the heat from her power on my skin. The last thing I wanted was to experience another painful jolt of her magic.
“I’m sorry for getting mad. It’s my fault, I should have told you,” I apologized, then asked, “So what was so urgent?”
Silence fell over the farmhouse as I waited for her reply, but she said nothing. Alexis was a statue of beauty, her heat gently rippling across my skin.
“Alexis?” I asked, but she still said nothing, her eyes on the decaying wood floor.
I sighed. “Well, if you don’t need me, I should get back to the Seventh before…” my voice trailed and my eyes darted around, realizing for the first time that I hadn’t seen anyone else.
Where were the Egipcions?
“Alexis, are you alone here?” I asked and when she didn’t say anything I said, “It’s not safe for you to stray outside of the Egipcion estate without bodyguards.”
She remained a statue, silent and unmoving. “Alexis?” I asked and cautiously touched her back.
Spinning, she reached for me. I quickly stepped away from her, nearly tripping on a broken floorboard.
“You are afraid of me?” The pain in her words reached her eyes.
“I would be a fool if I didn’t learn anything from the last two times,” I spoke without thinking and regretted it.
“Oh,” Alexis breathed, taking a deliberate step back from me. “I’m sorry.” She covered her face with her trembling hands.
Is she crying? My heart ached and despite the danger, I went to her. Wrapping my arms around her, I breathed, “No, I’m sorry. Please don’t cry. I’m right here, my heart.”
Alexis buried her face into my shirt and clung to me with shaking hands. “Don’t leave me,” she sobbed and her words stabbed into my heart.
Gently lifting her face I wiped her tears away. “I’m not going anywhere. I love you; always and forever,” I whispered then lowered my mouth to hers.
My movement was purposely slow, giving her plenty of time to reject me. Our lips met and hers pressed back. Fire filled me; not painful fire, but sweet and lustful. I kept the kiss soft and light. After another second I broke it.
Gazing up at me, her eyes full of love and sadness, she whispered words I thought I would never hear, “I remember.”
“What?” I breathed.
“I remember; L.A. and Sal’s Diner…” her voice cracked as she continued, “My father.” Alexis reach up and her fingers traced my face. “Us.”
I was lost in the warm joy overtaking my heart, melting the ice. When I finally gathered my thoughts, they flowed from me like a fast moving river. “How did you get your memories back? When did you? How long have you been waiting here?”
She kissed me, not a peck but a deep, fiery kiss and I pulled her against me.
We separated and I saw she was crying again. “Alexis?”
“I’m sorry…” she choked and her body trembled.
I cupped her face and kissed her tears. “You have nothing to be sorry for.”
“I…” she sniffed and her fingers gripped my shirt. “Said those things; I hurt you.”
“You had every right to be angry with me, Alexis.”
Tears fell across her cheeks. “But—”
“Shh…” I cooed. “Everything is alright now.” Cupping her face, I kissed her, a soft, lingering kiss and her body weakened in my embrace.
In this moment, time had no power over us. I didn't care about what our people would think. It was just her and me. There was no war, no death, no suffering, just us. Alexis’s fingers tugged at my shirt. I took her bottom into my hands and lifted her off the ground. Her moan carried burning sexual need down my throat, awakening my own passions. I carried her into the dining room and set her on the metal table. Breaking the kiss, I stripped her.
Once naked I suckled the small hard points of her breasts, as my hands explored, drawing gasps and moan from her. Alexis pulled at my shirt again but I pulled back and went to my knees before her. I spread her legs as I pulled her to the edge of the table. Taking her soft wet sex into my mouth, I ran my tongue between her lips.
“Jaden,” she shuddered and arched against me.
I pushed my tongue inside of her and devoured each drop of her sweet, tangy nectar. She moaned; her delicate fingers in my hair pulled me closer as her delicious blood called to me.
“Bite…taste her. Give me her blood. I can feel your need,” the beast taunted.
I fought to ignore him, but the thought was planted. My mouth watered and my fangs extended.
Pulling back, I kissed the soft flesh of her inner thigh. “I want to taste you,” I breathed, gently brushing her skin with my teeth.
Alexis quivered and whispered, “Drink, love.”
I glanced up at her. The sun shown in from a hole somewhere above us and its rays haloed her. “It’s okay,” she said, her hands pulling me back to her.
“She wants it,” the beast said, pulling at his chains. “Take it.”
I caved. Returning to her inner thigh, I bit, my teeth easily penetrating her flesh. Alexis’s body flinched, then relaxed. Her blood filled my mouth. Wincing, I almost pulled away, the sudden rush of ambrosial lava scolding my mouth and throat.
Gods. I am burning, I thought, swallowing the mouthful. I accepted the fire, letting it warm me to the bone and my body shook in response.
The pain diminished as Alexis shook with need. “Jaden, I need you. Please,” she begged.
In one quick motion I entered her. She cried out in pleasure and it filled her blood, then me as I consumed it. I pounded my two longest fingers deep inside of her. Grinding into me, Alexis gasped, groaned, and moaned, urging me on.
Her walls tightened around my fingers and her whole body shook. “Jaden!” Alexis screamed, her orgasm overtaking her.
I consumed once last mouthful before pulling back. Alexis slid from the table to straddle me and she pulled my shirt over my head. Once free, I kissed her deeply. Our tongues danced and her hands caressed my naked breasts. A soft moan escaped me as she broke the kiss, a mischievous grin on her lips.
I brushed my fingers through her silken hair. “My turn,” she said, her fingers working my belt buckle loose.
She pushed me back and I went. On my back, the rough, dirty wood against my bare skin, the view before me was stunning. Her dyed hair still had remnants of golden blonde and it draped around her bare shoulders, the strands lying playfully across her breasts. The small beads of sweat on her soft tanned skin sparkled in the halo of warm light surrounding her. She took my wrists in her hands. Leaning forward, she stretched my arms above my head.
Alexis gazed down at me through her lust drunk emerald eyes. “I love you.”
“I love you,” I breathed, as her lips brushed mine.
“You want me?” she asked, her breath crashing over me, burning waves of fire and I gasped in pain and delight.
“You have no—”
She cut me off with an open-mouthed kiss, her tongue running along my lips.
I let her in and moaned loudly when her fingers pulled at my hard nipples. Leaving my lips, Alexis traced a fiery path across my body until I shook with delight and need.
“Alexis,” I cried, raising my hips to meet her as she massaged my small bud with her tongue in small, slow circles.
“You are so irresistible,” she said, then her lips closed around me and her tongue entered.
Moaning, I closed my eyes, my legs fell open, and I drowned into her fiery love. “Alexis, let me have you too,” I said, breathless, as her fingers circled my entrance.
I watched her stand, turn around, and sit. She scooted up until her wet sex hovered above my face. Nothing was hidden from me. Blonde silk curls capped her exquisite pink lips. They lay open; still damp from her previous orgasm. I took hold of her bottom. Lowering her to my mouth, I suckled. Alexis moaned against me as she took me once again into her mouth. She went from flicking my clitoris to exploring my depths just as I too continued to tease her with my tongue and lips. Her nectar flowed and I savored its richness, trembling as my need built.
“Please, my love,” I breathed, writhing beneath her.
She entered me in a single deep thrust. “Alexis!” I cried, my mouth against her.
Time became non-existent as waves of passion washed over me. My body tightened and my cries left me, echoing through the farmhouse as I shook with deep orgasms.
Alexis lay on top of me, her eyes closed in peaceful sleep as I traced the curves of her naked body. My world is complete, I thought, a smile on my lips.
A mouse ran across the floor and I realized our surroundings were less than accommodating. I could suddenly feel the jagged boards and rusty nails pushing into my back at various points. A mixture of mildew, mold, and sex filled my nose. This was not how I had imagined our reunion, but nothing could make me move.
In the back of my mind I knew it would not be long before the Egipcions would come for her and we would have to return to our respective lives. Our people hated each other and our love would not be tolerated. Sighing, I stared up through the hole in the roof and watched a bird pass over the decaying farmhouse.
We will find a way. Nothing will keep us apart, never again, I thought and relaxed. Summer has finally come. An eternal summer. I tightened my hold on her naked body as I settled in to watch the day pass into night.
