Deceiving Dimitri, page 41
“Yes!” everyone replied in unison.
And I leaned forward, conjuring enough energy, and pushed back, throwing the bouquet off. I immediately turned to see who got it when my eyes widened. Almost playing handball with the bouquet, the elders sent it flying to Brooke as it landed in her open hands.
Almost intentionally, our eyes darted to Blake, and for the first time in forever, I saw my brother all red like a tomato.
“It’s your turn, Mr. Evans.” Dimitri smirked, coming to my side.
“Damn,” was his response as the surrounding burst out into a convulsion of laughter.
All the other events went in a blur as we cut the five-layered giant cake and performed our first dance. His eyes were sparkling with the rejoice of our presence and the promise of our future and, of course, desire for the night ahead. By the time night rolled by, he turned into a nagging husband, wanting to end the rituals and just go home.
“Are we done here yet?” he asked.
I sent the guest I was talking to a sweet smile and excused ourselves to a corner. “What is this?”
“Can we go now?” he questioned stubbornly.
“But...” I glanced at the crowd. There were still a few people waiting to meet and congratulate us. Then there were the paparazzi craving their shot of the night.
“I can’t wait anymore to have you all by myself. One more second, and I might...” His eyes zeroed in on my lips as he drove right into me, “show them why they should leave a newly wedded couple to themselves,” he murmured against my lips, making each word vibrate through me in the most delicious way.
I could feel his desperation in my bones as my body shuddered with a sense of immense lust. Not caring anymore, I let him take over my lips and explore every inch till my taste imprinted on him.
A flash of bright light snapped us back to reality as we parted, eyes widening, and stared at the newsman who looked like he just got his Oscar-worthy shot.
I gasped and looked back at my husband, who sent me a smug look, clearly screaming, Told you.
Then a wicked smirk curved into our lips. I hoped we thought of the same escape plan.
Bending down, Dimitri took a hold of the tent fabric and snatched it up. Then holding my hand, he yanked me out with him as I let out a giggle. The second our feet touched the ground outside, we heard the paparazzi running behind, calling our names.
That was our cue as he helped me scoop up the hem of my dress, took off my heels and entwined our fingers. His eyes sparkled with mischief, as did mine.
“Ready?” he asked.
“With you, always,” I replied, making his lips stretch into the most beautiful smile.
“Found ye,” someone called from behind.
That’s when we took off, running in the direction of the street, our carefree laughter filling the night sky like the melodious chiming of carillons.
I gasped when my eyes fell on the Austin Princess Limousine awaiting us.
“Are we really going into that?”
“Yes, my love.”
“Oh my gosh,” I gushed, “I have always wanted to ride one.”
“Now is your time, my lady.” Opening the passenger side door, he extended his hand towards me, bowing down like a benevolent prince.
My smile stretched from ear to ear as I put my hand into his and climbed inside, my heart thudding with excitement and joy.
The day was perfect, as every other girl would dream for. He made it come true for me with every effort he could spare, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it than what I felt at the moment. I was speechless.
Ascending into the driver’s side, he grabbed my hand and placed a butterfly kiss on the back. “Where to, my love?”
I smiled, remembering the day we first escaped from our reality, and today we did the same, only better.
“To Heaven.”
