“To Acclimate the Public”
“The purpose of lockdowns prior to vaccination was to acclimate the public to lockdowns after vaccination.” —Michael P. Senger, author of “China’s Global Lockdown Propaganda Campaign”54
Inflating the Risks—and His Reputation
Fumento has been a longtime observer of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).55 Fauci is the highest-paid federal employee and oversees an annual budget of $6 billion.56
Fauci “was sole author of a 1983 piece in the prestigious JAMA in which he declared the disease [AIDS] might be transmissible by ‘routine close contact, as within a family household,’ ” Fumento wrote. Fauci “shortly thereafter ascended to the position he holds to this day. Long after it was established that AIDS was actually extremely hard to transmit, Fauci nonetheless continued to raise hue and cry. In 1987, columnist George Will asserted on national TV that the threat to heterosexuals was overstated. ‘That’s not correct,’ Fauci protested, followed by a prediction that the percentage of AIDS cases contracted via heterosexual transmission (then at 4%) would rise to 10% by 1991. No, it never rose above 4%,” Fumento pointed out.57
In 2021, an old video surfaced of Fauci speculating about how AIDS was transmitted. Fauci explained in the video: “If the close contact of a child is a household contact, perhaps there will be a certain number of cases of individuals who are just living with and in close contact with someone with AIDS, or at risk of AIDS, who does not necessarily have to have intimate sexual contact or share a needle, but just the ordinary close contact that one sees in normal interpersonal relations.”58
Investigative journalist Justin Hart commented on Fauci’s claims in the video. “Look at how confident he is in spouting this nonsense. Fauci never changes. He goes full throttle into fearmongering only to be proven wrong. No wonder we were so frightened of AIDS,” Hart wrote.59
Fumento explained that Fauci “repeated the pattern during successive disease panics, such as when he declared 16 years ago that we’re ‘due’ for ‘massive person-to-person’ spread of Avian flu A/H5N1. How massive? While Fauci didn’t define the term, according to one estimate by a CDC modeler ‘even in the best-case scenarios’ worldwide it would ‘cause 2 to 7 million deaths.’ ” But Fumento’s research found that “as it turned out, the disease killed 440 worldwide.” In another example, “Fauci sounded alarm over the threat of the Zika virus, demanding billions more in taxpayer funds. It barely touched two U.S. states before burning out on its own.”60
No HIV Lockdowns
“When HIV was a horrible epidemic people died very tragic deaths. But we didn’t lock people up even when people demanded that anyone with HIV should be. No one locked up healthy people…. I keep thinking about how the AIDS epidemic was managed. That was managed back when we were still a free society. Many people died, it is absolutely tragic, but the state did not lock up everyone.” —Naomi Wolf in 202161
Fumento was incensed when Fauci “falsely” made a “Spanish flu” comparison to COVID-19. “The comparison to the 1918–19 flu was always ludicrous, based not on science but primal fear,” Fumento wrote.
“We already know that COVID-19 has a far lower mortality rate than even lesser 20th-century flu pandemics. The CDC’s ‘best estimate’ is around 0.26 percent. That compares to about 0.67 percent for the ‘Asian flu’ of 1957–58, which in turn was vastly milder than Spanish flu,” Fumento explained.
“Further, even a virus far more deadly than that of the Spanish flu would not pose a similar threat because of tremendously different conditions then and now,” he added. “In 1918, the world was at war. In part because of that, people were in far poorer general health than we are today, with malnourishment commonplace. We know malnourishment is a powerful factor in infectious disease severity,” Fumento pointed out.
And Fauci should know better. “This is rather important: There were no antibiotics in 1918–19, and, as one medical journal paper put it, ‘The majority of deaths in the 1918–1919 influenza pandemic likely resulted directly from secondary bacterial pneumonia caused by common upper respiratory-tract bacteria.’ The chief researcher for that paper? Dr. Anthony Fauci.”62
Fauci has built up his reputation “by saying what the MSM wants to hear, be it with AIDS, avian flu, Zika, or COVID-19,” Fumento wrote. Fauci has a reputation as a prodigious researcher and published scientist. “In a 2019 analysis of Google Scholar citations, Dr. Fauci ranked as the 41st most highly cited researcher of all time,” according to Fauci’s official NIAID bio. And “according to the Web of Science, he ranked 8th out of more than 2.2 million authors in the field of immunology by total citation count between 1980 and January 2019.” Fauci’s bio states he is the “author, coauthor, or editor of more than 1,300 scientific publications, including several textbooks.”
Fumento is not buying it. “Actually, he’s just a bit too incredible,” Fumento said. “Even back then [in the 1980s], his CV listing all the papers on which he was lead or co-researcher was so heavy it practically required a forklift.”
“This would be extremely impressive,” Fumento explained, “but remember we’re talking about someone who for the past 36 years was supposed to be working full-time as an administrator when he’s not throwing first pitches, not doing individual research.” As Fumento pointed out, “There are simply too many papers listing Fauci on too many disparate subjects, and too often as lead researcher.”
Fumento offered what may be the true explanation for Fauci’s mile-high stack of scientific publications. “There’s always steep competition to get in the top-ranked journals and it would appear that the true researchers are putting Fauci’s name on their papers to push them up the ladder in exchange for which he gets yet one more academic publication attributed to him, as noted usually with him as lead researcher. It’s a shame he’s not part of Marvel’s Avengers,” Fumento wrote.63
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 2021 booki revealed a side of Fauci not seen in the media. Kennedy labeled Fauci “the J. Edgar Hoover of public health.” The book reveals how Fauci engaged in “the subversion of democracy by a drug industry that manipulates regulators like sock puppets.” RFK Jr. claims Fauci “exercises dictatorial control over the army of ‘knowledge-and-innovation’ leaders who appear nightly on TV to parrot his orthodoxies and ‘debunk’ his opponents.” The book also reports that Fauci “repeatedly concocted and weaponized fraudulent pandemics, including bird flu (2005), swine flu (2009) and Zika (2015–2016), in order to sell novel vaccines” and that he “partnered with the Pentagon and intelligence agencies to conduct ‘gain-of-function’ experiments to breed pandemic superbugs.”64
“Control over the Fates of Billions”
Fauci has many close ties to both Bill Gates and the WHO, including funding and joint projects. Fauci was chosen to be part of the Leadership Council of the Gates-founded “Decade of Vaccines” project. “The World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have announced a collaboration to increase coordination across the international vaccine community and create a Global Vaccine Action Plan,” read the 2010 WHO press release.65 Gates committed $10 billion to the project.
And in October 2019 it was announced: “NIH, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation collaborate to develop gene-based HIV treatment.”
The Gates Foundation pledged to contribute $100 million to the National Institute of Health to support Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases research into HIV.66
Gates is a key player in the Great Reset. Klaus Schwab praised Gates in 2008 at the Davos annual meeting: “If in the twenty-second century a book will be written about the entrepreneur of the twenty-first century…. I’m sure that the person who will foremost come to the mind of those historians is certainly Bill Gates.”67
“Gates’ unimaginable wealth has been used to gain control over every corner of the fields of public health, medical research and vaccine development. And now that we are presented with the very problem that Gates has been talking about for years, we will soon find that this software developer with no medical training is going to leverage that wealth into control over the fates of billions of people,” investigative journalist James Corbett explained.68
The World Health Organization, also a key player in the Great Reset, utilized COVID-19 to promote lockdowns and advance the goals of the World Economic Forum.
WHO Done It
The World Health Organization has a long track record of attempting to use viral fears to essentially reset the global economy.
As Michael Fumento reported in Forbes, “In a September [2009] speech WHO Director-General Chan said ‘ministers of health’ should take advantage of the ‘devastating impact’ swine flu will have on poorer nations to get out the message that ‘changes in the functioning of the global economy’ are needed to ‘distribute wealth on the basis of’ values ‘like community, solidarity, equity and social justice.’ She further declared it should be used as a weapon against ‘international policies and systems that govern financial markets, economies, commerce, trade and foreign affairs.’ ”69
The World Health Organization’s second largest donor, behind the United States government, is (drumroll, please)… the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. According to the 2018 WHO financial report, while the U.S. government’s contribution was in the amount of more than $281 million, the Gates Foundation came in at over $228 million—out of the total $2.2 billion that made up the WHO annual budget. (Gates gave over $324 million to WHO in 2017.) The Gates Foundation contributed more to the WHO than many developed nations.70
Vaccination versus Population?
In 2010 Bill Gates explained, “The world today has 6.8 billion people. That’s headed up to about 9 billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent.”71
Gates clarified the statement in 2018, explaining, “What we found out is that as health improves, families choose to have less children…. The population growth goes down as we improve health.”72
Nevertheless, many people not on board with the hope to shrink the number of human beings in the world continue to be wary of a link between vaccines and population control. While their fear may give birth to conspiracy theories, their distrust of Gates and other global elites is not without foundation.
Gates played a key role in the COVID-19 lockdowns, mandates, and vaccines. “Bars and restaurants in most of the country will be closed as we go into this wave. And I think, sadly, that’s appropriate,” Gates told CNN in December 2020.73
Gates helped push massive coronavirus hysteria and lockdowns as the only solution. In August of 2020, Gates praised China for its strict lockdowns. Gates said that the Chinese “in their typical fairly authoritarian way, they did a very good job of suppressing the virus. There may have been a lot of individual rights that were violated there, but the overall macro effect that they achieved is kind of amazing.” He added that China “kept the virus numbers to very low levels compared to most countries.”
Gates also personally praised the most authoritarian COVID lockdowns anywhere on the planet. Hemilitarization as the model for the United States to follow. Gates called for a “very different regimen so all countries can get on top of cases very quickly and be more like Australia than Europe or the U.S. ended up being.” Gates said this in August 2021, as Victoria in Australia moved into its sixth lockdown after just eight cases of COVID were reported.74
“Bill Gates is no public health expert. He is not a doctor, an epidemiologist or an infectious disease researcher. Yet somehow he has become a central figure in the lives of billions of people, presuming to dictate the medical actions that will be required for the world to go ‘back to normal,” Corbett stated.
How did Gates go from a computer geek peddling a mediocre operating system to dictating international public health policy to the adulation of the media? Money, money, money.
“Gates has surpassed Rockefeller’s legacy with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation long having eclipsed The Rockefeller Foundation as the largest private foundation in the world, with $46.8 billion of assets on its books that it wields in its stated program areas of global health and development, global growth, and global policy advocacy,” Corbett reported.75
Reprogramming the Human Race
“[Bill Gates] was perhaps the primary figure responsible for planting the seed in the American (and perhaps global) consciousness, as early as March 2020, that the world would have to stay in lockdown until a vaccine was developed and administered to the vast majority of the world’s population. One might wonder what gives Gates the authority to declare what the world must do. One might also wonder whether the man has a conflict of interest in such recommendations, given the fact that vaccines are currently his primary business concern…. Pharmaceuticals (particularly vaccines) are analogous to software when seen through the mechanized eyes of technocracy. Human beings are analogous to the computer systems this software is designed to modify.” —Raelle Kaia, “Why Are They Doing This?”76
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation pumps out tens of millions of dollars annually to pay for positive media. Media partnerships and sponsorships essentially buy slick public relations for Gates and his foundations.
Gates influences coverage of global health and development issues as a “top 10 donor” to BBC’s Media Action organization.77 In the United Kingdom, he also funds The Guardian’s Global Development website.78
And Gates funds NPR’s global-health coverage.79
He also provides funding to the key “Our World in Data” website that bills itself as providing “daily updated research and data” on the “coronavirus pandemic.”80
Gates funds world-health coverage on ABC News—with cash grants. Even the New York Times was taken aback by Gates paying ABC News. “ABC News has entered into an unusual financial agreement with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to back a yearlong project investigating global health problems and their potential solutions,” the Times reported in 2010. The paper quoted ABC News admitting that the network “had never accepted a cash grant before.”81
When the PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer was given a $3.5 million Gates Foundation grant to set up a special reporting division “to expand global health coverage,” the funding essentially brought Gates’s vision and philosophy to the reporting. “NewsHour correspondents will travel worldwide to produce forty to fifty documentary-style reports on global health issues” reported Philanthropy News Digest in 2008.
Gates’s money did not just buy coverage, it turned “reporters” for PBS into paid lobbyists for Gates’s global-health mission. “The NewsHour will also launch an outreach effort to put the coverage in front of policymakers, scientists, medical professionals, and others in the global health community.”82
During the height of COVID-19 fears, Gates appeared regularly on NewsHour and could always count on softball questions from his paid crew at PBS. An April 2020 “news-segment” interview with Gates by anchor Judy Woodruff revealed the extent of the journalistic rot at the Gates-funded show.
Woodruff opened the interview with Gates by gushing, “One of the best-informed voices is that of businessman and philanthropist Bill Gates. The cofounder of Microsoft has spent the last few decades focused through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on improving global health, including reducing the spread of infectious diseases.”
She said, “You were one of the prescient few years ago who said that an infectious disease outbreak was coming that could kill millions of people”—neglecting to mention that warning cries of the possibility of another Spanish flu hitting someday had been ubiquitous in global health since the time of the original Spanish flu.
But Woodruff was not finished performing for Gates’s bought-and-paid-for PR. “Well, Bill Gates, we thank you very much for spending the time with us, for talking with us today. Thank you and we wish you and what you are doing at the Foundation the very best,” Woodruff concluded.83
In response to concerns that the journalistic integrity of PBS NewsHour was being compromised by the millions in Gates funding, communications chief Rob Flynn defended the show by suggesting that “there are not a heck of a lot of things you could touch in global health these days that would not have some kind of Gates tentacle.”84
“The Final Solution”
Bill Gates appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in April 2020 to discuss the “return to normal” from COVID-19.
Gates: And then the final solution—which is a year to two years off—is the vaccine. So we’ve got to go full-speed ahead on all three fronts.
Colbert: Just to head off the conspiracy theorists, maybe we shouldn’t call the vaccine “the final solution.”
Gates: Good point.
Colbert: Maybe just “the best solution.”
Gates: (laughing) Yeah, the return-to-normal solution.85
Investigative journalist James Corbett has explained the stranglehold Gates has on public health. “It comes as no surprise, then, that—far beyond the $250 million that the Gates Foundation has pledged to the ‘fight’ against coronavirus—every aspect of the current coronavirus pandemic involves organizations, groups and individuals with direct ties to Gates funding,” Corbett reported.86
The Lancet expressed serious concerns about the Gates Foundation’s influence on public health. “Apart from questions over its investments, the Gates Foundation has received little external scrutiny,” The Lancet said in a May 2009 editorial noting Gates’s $3 billion annual spending at the time.
