“We love it,” Tony said again. “Don’t we, babe?” he asked Sam

Sam was trying to regain a straight face too. “Yes. We love it,” she said. “Reminds us of how far we’ve come.”

“Now that makes more sense,” said Jenay.

“What are you waiting on?” Big Daddy asked Tony. “Get her out there and dance!”

And Tony did. He took her out to the dance floor with his two brothers and their wives and kept swinging Sam around to that disco beat as if he was an old pro. And Sam kept laughing and enjoying every twirl.

They were having so much fun, and making so much noise that Myles and the Sinatra children came out of the bedroom onto the landing, and watched them through the railing. And they were laughing, too, and judging each dancer. Tony, they felt, was the worst.

  “I need you, by me.

  Beside me, to guide me.

To hold me, to scold me.

‘Cause when I’m bad, I’m so so bad.

So let’s dance, the last dance.

  Let’s dance, the last dance.

Let’s dance, the last dance tonight!”

And that was exactly what Tony and Sam did. They danced the last dance as two people going their individual ways, and they ushered in a new dance - as one.
