“If I do this, you lose all my contact numbers and forget my name, got it?” Jennifer insisted. “I don’t want to ever hear from you again.”

“I am wounded, but I can live with the loss,” Tony Adams stated. “I want a trace on the number I will text you. I want to know who owns it and where it is located.” He wasn’t surprised to hear the concussion of the phone hitting a wall instead of a regular disconnection sound. He smiled, knowing it wouldn’t be long before he got his information. She was desperate to get out from under his thumb, and he loved to make people squirm. It was a win/win situation in his estimation. He decided he would have to let her go anyway, as she was beginning to lose her value. He didn’t like to use the same people too often. It left a trail.

  CHAPTER XI

The ringing of the doorbell brought Tyndal’s breakfast celebration to an abrupt halt. The group at the table exchanged questioning looks and Uriel went to answer it. Of them all, he figured he was less apt to be recognized if for some strange reason, Tony Adams had managed to hunt them down this quickly. They didn’t believe it was likely, but they couldn’t discount the possibility.

With no intention of seeming to be friendly, Uriel swung open the door and grumbled, “Who are you and what do you want?”

“We want to talk to Tyndal Reynolds,” Eldon Morrison stated. “We believe she is here or you know where we can find her. This is a matter of life or death.”

“What makes you think we know anyone by that name? Get out of here and leave me alone,” Uriel pushed Eldon Morrison and his friend away.

“We have a message for her,” Brad added. “Tell her if we can find her and her friends this easily, Tony Adams can do it too. Let her know Eldon and Brad were here.”

As Eldon and Brad turned to leave, Tyndal rushed to the doorway. She wasn’t foolish enough to allow them to see her immediately, for she wanted to make sure these men were who they claimed they were first. Seeing that they were, she called out to them, “Come in, coffee is on. If you haven’t eaten yet, I can make something for you.”

Eldon and Brad turned back to see Tyndal heading for the kitchen, while Uriel glowered at them from the doorway. He didn’t move from where he had stood earlier, and when they looked at him expectantly, he gave them a warning.

“You hurt one hair on her head and you won’t live long enough to regret it.”

“The regrets we have don’t stem from our meeting her. We would never hurt her,” Eldon answered. “Tony Adams is another matter. We want to help keep her safe from that monster, which is probably the same reason you are here.”

“Why don’t you go after him then?” Uriel asked.

“Because that snake has more lives than a cat and tends to disappear moments before we find him. It never fails. This time we traced him to the doctor’s house, but he had left. He is looking for Tyndal, according to the doctor. He personally thinks Tony Adams is off his rocker, should be locked away and the key destroyed.”

“What do you think?” Uriel asked.

“Killing is too good for the bastard,” Eldon all but spat.

Brad explained further. “He had my house torched. It is lying in a pile of ash. Before that, he had Eldon’s son killed. We know this for sure because he had the young man’s head sent to Eldon in a pail. If that isn’t sick, I don’t know what is.”

“I would like to stake him and bury him so deep that he would never find a way to the surface,” Eldon sounded choked up.

“To do that, you would have to bury him upside down,” Brad grumbled.

  “I don’t understand,” Uriel claimed.

“So the vampire never returns,” Brad explained.

“I see,” Uriel replied, and he definitely did. These men had a vendetta against Tony Adams, and they were determined to see it through to the bitter end. Considering what they had told him, he couldn’t blame them. Still, he couldn’t condone murder for the sake of revenge, even if it was done to Tony Adams. There was more to this than a matter of getting even. Tony Adams was an evil person and he needed to be stopped. He moved aside to allow the men to pass and then closed the door. He was sure it wouldn’t take long to get to the bottom of things.

Everyone had already finished eating, so Brad and Eldon didn’t feel awkward about helping themselves to what was left of the stacks of pancakes still on the table. It didn’t matter to them that the food was cold, although they didn’t turn down Tyndal’s offer to warm up the food in the microwave. What made them do a double take was Tyndal’s appearance. She looked like a woman half her age, and this at a time when they knew what they were seeing couldn’t be real. This was something plastic surgery couldn’t explain and they didn’t know what to think.

Neither Brad nor Eldon wanted to say anything about how young Tyndal was looking. She hadn’t been heavy before, but now she was reed slim and her clothing hung on her. Her youthful complexion mocked her age. To try to hide their thoughts, they tried to look anywhere but at her. Considering that she was a very beautiful woman, made that difficult.

Tyndal guessed what was bothering Eldon and Brad, beyond their personal losses, although those they seemed to be handling well enough. She had seen what she looked like in the mirror earlier, and it had shocked even her. The only two it didn’t seem to have any effect on was Tyrus and Rhys. For whatever reason, those men seemed to have expected something like this and she could only wonder why. Being curious about how she had ended up this way didn’t stop her from enjoying the results though.

It was Brad who decided to take the bull by the horns to find out all he could about what had happened since they had parted. “So, at the risk of being told to mind my own business, what has been going on with you since we last saw you? Where are Ravel, Rafe and Angelika?”

“They went home,” Tyndal vaguely replied. As far as she was concerned, Eldon and Brad didn’t need to know all the details. “It was shortly after they left that I ran into Tony Adams and he shot me.”

“That couldn’t have been more than a couple of days ago,” Eldon did the math and exclaimed, “You don’t look like someone that has just been shot to me.”

  “I heal quickly,” Tyndal answered.

“Obviously,” Brad snorted. If it had been for her youthful appearance, he wouldn’t have been even remotely tempted to believe her story. In the back of his mind, the one fact seemed to support the other. He had to ask himself how much more farfetched could things could be for her to drop thirty years than to heal a bullet hole in forty-eight to seventy-two hours. It wasn’t something he wanted to dwell on, because things like this didn’t happen in the real world and the thought that it had might drive him crazy.

“We have to figure a way past this age thing, or it is going to bother us every time we look at you, which, I will admit, I am tempted to do often. You are serious eye candy for any red-blooded male to look at,” Eldon admitted. At the same time, he noticed how the expressions on the men surrounding Tyndal were growing dangerously serious. He gave a slightly nervous chuckle as he added, “Not that I am tempted to stray, so your brothers needn’t be concerned.

“Just get to the point,” Tyrus suggested.

“The point is, I wouldn’t mind hearing the story about how this came about,” Eldon continued, “Even if there is no way in hell that I will be able to believe it.”

“Join the club,” Uriel replied. “None us can figure out what is going on, so why should you? For all we know, Tony Adams and his doctor friend shot some sort of experimental drug into Tyndal. His way of using her as a guinea pig to check out the results, and this is what happened.”

“Possible,” Eldon agreed. In fact, it sounded more plausible than anything he had considered so far. “He is sick enough to do something like that.”

“He would be the first one to benefit from the success of the experiment, if the serum he used worked,” Brad followed that trail of thought up. It was something his mind could grasp onto. It made more sense than thinking she was some alien with super powers.

“To change the subject,” Tyndal spoke, “how did you manage to locate us?”

Michael’s phone rang at that moment and he walked off so anyone calling wouldn’t be able to hear what was being said in the background.

Eldon replied, “Your friend left his telephone number at the airport, in case of an emergency. We slipped through their computer system to check the arrivals. We were looking for any traces of smaller jets coming in, to see if Tony Adams might have landed here. We got a lot more than we expected or bargained for though.”

“Not only did Tony Adams land at the same place you did, but he has a friend working there,” Brad pointed out. “If we were able to track you though your friend’s number, how difficult can it be for him to do the same with all his resources?”

  CHAPTER XII

As Michael returned from his conversation, Tyrus asked, “Has anyone had any calls lately from someone they didn’t know?”

Michael looked at Tyrus and asked, “Just now, why are you asking?”

“Brad and Eldon tracked us to this address through your cell number,” Tyrus answered. “We are considering the possibility Tony Adams will be able to do the same.”

“How would he get my number? Donaldson was the only person I gave it to, when we arrived at the airport, in case of an emergency,” Michael stated.

“He is friends with Tony Adams,” Eldon informed Michael.

Michael looked dumbfounded for a while then raced to his room to pack. When Tyrus asked what the problem was, he answered, “I just got off the phone with Donaldson. He claimed they caught someone trying to tamper with my plane. He asked several questions, and then he hung up. I think we need to get out of here while we still can.”

Tyndal looked at the mess that surrounded her and objected, “We can’t leave the house looking like this.”

“Of course we can,” Uriel answered. “The people that clean need to earn their money. I will grab your bag on the way down to save you a trip up those stairs. Be ready to leave the moment I get back.”

There was no way Tyndal was going to leave the table in the condition it was in, not for any reason. She didn’t care if the hired help needed to do something to earn their keep. So, while the men scrambled to gather their things, she took a few moments to wash up. It was all the time she had before they returned.

In case she was going to insist on finishing the cleaning, Tyrus didn’t give Tyndal any time to argue. When he walked past her, he grabbed her by the wrist and dragged her out of the house behind him. Uriel followed with their luggage and the keys for one of the cars. Within a few moments, they were in the vehicle and travelling towards Tyrus’ apartment headquarters. He had given everyone the address so they would know how to get there. There was only one problem. Someone was trailing them, and it wasn’t a car they recognized, which meant it probably belonged to Tony Adams. He had found them, and it hadn’t taken him long.

“You have a tail,” Michael told Uriel, over his speakerphone. “Eldon says he will take care of him.”

“There is more than one, I count two cars,” Raphael informed Michael from his position as passenger.

“You hear that?” Michael asked Uriel.

“In this case, we don’t dare go into the district where Merika has her apartment,” Tyrus stated. “Tony Adams knows where she lived and I wouldn’t doubt that they still have the address on file from when Teryka and Riven lived there.”

“Where should we go?” Michael asked.

Tyndal supplied the answer, “The airport.”

“What?” Michael shouted. He hadn’t heard such an asinine suggestion in his life. Tony Adams had the resources there to come after them, and they had no way of defending themselves.

“It is time we lured our enemy in. He believes that as he has found us, we are running scared, let him continue to believe that.” Tyndal replied. “Let us allow him to assume all the planes are fueled and ready to fly.”

“Mine isn’t yet,” Michael admitted. “It only has half a tank, which will take us quite a long way, but not as far as we need to go. I will need to tell my pilot to get moving on this. He won’t be ready to fly and needs time to get to the airport. What do you have in mind?”

“That depends on how many planes are fueled and how many of our team members know how to fly. Also, I need to have some idea whether anyone came in piloting their own plane,” Tyndal answered.

“That would be me,” Raphael answered. “Michael and Uriel had pilots, if I am not mistaken.”

  “Sounds right,” Samuel answered.

“I just talked to my pilot, and he says we have three quarters of a tank left,” Uriel informed everyone.

Raphael added, “My tanks are full and my plane is capable of seating eight people comfortably.”

“We will all go with Raphael,” Tyndal quickly decided. “Brad will take one plane out, while Eldon will travel with the other. We will spread out, so Tony Adams can’t figure out which plane we are in.”

“I thought we wanted him to follow us,” Michael stated.

“We do, and he will,” Tyndal replied. “But if we make it too easy, he won’t take the bait. He will know he is being set up. He doesn’t want to tackle all of us. So, we will make it seem as if Tyrus, Raphael, and I are alone on one of the flights, while the others scatter towards different destinations.”

“What about the possibility of sabotage?” Michael asked. He considered this a valid question, when he remembered the phone call he got from Donaldson. He had to wonder if there was a reason behind it other than just using their conversation as a way to track them.

“Even you know that Donaldson was lying,” Tyndal pointed out. “I am sure things will be ready to leave when we are.”

“Fine,” Michael agreed. “I will contact my pilot and get some idea about how long it will take him to log in a flight and get airborne.”

“I should do the same with mine,” Uriel agreed.

“I will contact Eldon and Brad,” Tyndal decided. “They are not going to be happy about this, but they don’t have much choice.”

“You knew they would come after us, didn’t you?” Raphael pointed out the obvious.

“Yes, but they don’t have the range we do,” Tyndal replied. “We can reach our goal without stopping for fuel. They can’t. If it all goes according to plan, we will be gone by the time Brad and Eldon catch up to us.”

“While they are in the air, we take care of Tony Adams,” Tyrus second-guessed Tyndal. “Have you got something in mind that will do the job?”

“I have most of it worked out,” Tyndal told everyone listening. “We need to discuss the rest when we are in the plane. If I am right, Tony Adams will never be the same again after this, nor will he ever bother anyone again. We will need to plan our moves perfectly to make it work though.”

“As long as we have some idea about what to expect, there shouldn’t be any problems,” Michael promised.

“Let’s get everyone in on what is happening so that things are set up before we get to the airfield,” Tyndal suggested. “When everyone fully understands their parts in this operation call us back.”

Rhys watched how the group worked together and approved. They seemed to know what to expect from each other and used that experience to their best advantage. He listened as Raphael phoned in his flight plan. As soon as that was done, he drove the car to the rental company and dropped off the vehicle. Then he requested a ride to within a quarter mile of the airstrip. They were going to walk from there. While he distracted the staff in the office with his solo arrival, Samuel and Rhys would slip into the jet. That would leave Michael, Uriel, Lucifer, and Selaphiel to play their parts. They would make it seem like they were getting onto the other two planes instead of his. The trick was getting Eldon and Brad to emulate them so they could switch places.

Raphael contacted Michael and began to make plans for the switch, “How do you plan to sneak Eldon and Brad onto those planes without it looking like we are pulling a fast one?”

“Leave that to me,” Michael as much as told Raphael he already had things under control.

“Figured as much,” Raphael replied. He then contacted Eldon and Brad and ordered them to go to the airfield. He told them they would be expected to go on different flights to make Tony Adams think the group was splitting up. They would park their cars as close to the jet as they were allowed, get out, and then board the planes. They weren’t to look around or stop. They would move in a straight line from their vehicles to the inside of the jets as quickly as possible.

When Eldon and Brad reported that they understood and would do their part, Raphael called Uriel to tell the others things were in place. The last people to arrive would be Uriel, Tyndal, and Tyrus. Until then, they were to drive around town and make it seem as if they were trying to lose Tony Adams. By the time they got to the jet, the other two would be in the air, or close to being. According to their flight plans, one of the jets would be heading for New Mexico while the other one flew towards Nevada.

  CHAPTER XIII

Everything seemed to happen at the same time, while the first set of Angels showed up. Brad and Eldon arrived to mix things up. When Uriel drove onto the parking lot of the airport, the attention of everyone on the premises immediately shifted from those who were there to his vehicle. Tyndal decided to complicate things to make sure the eyes of everyone would stay on them. The men she was with needed this time to make the changes that were needed to make a clean getaway. She got out of the vehicle, made a show of smoothing out her outfit, and then headed for the office area.

Tyrus wasn’t particularly pleased with the position Tyndal put herself in, but he understood the necessity of her actions. He had to admit, she put on quite a show, as she strutted across the parking lot and into the office area. He doubted if anyone, male or female, missed a movement, albeit for different reasons. He grinned as he noted that she was doing what she had set out to do.
