Escaping Shadows, page 25
As the eldest, it was Damon’s responsibility to look after all of his siblings, and right now the sibling in front of him was trying his brotherly love. “That fact you don’t know says a lot.”
He saw the lightbulb go off over his brother’s head. Stone was a killer on the ice. As a pro hockey player, he had money and fame but sometimes he didn’t have any sense. “You have a new team owner and coach and you’re naked in a hot tub full of puck bunnies. There are pictures everywhere. Are you trying to get yourself kicked off the team? Or traded?”
Stone had the same grey eyes as Damon and rolled them at him. Damon wanted to punch him. They used to solve their issues like that when they were growing up. If they weren’t at a wedding, he might do it again and remind his little brother that it was Damon who ran this family.
“What do you want me to do when they walked out naked? I was looking out for their health. Wouldn’t want them to catch a cold.”
Damon growled. “One day, brother, I’m going to laugh my ass off when a woman doesn’t put up with your shit, because that will be the day you fall in love.”
Stone held his fingers up like a cross. “Don’t say the L word. I’m having too much fun. Besides, I’ve never crossed paths with a woman who didn’t want me. Keep dreamin’ bro. Now, there’s a cute friend of Maggie’s over there giving me the look.”
Damon watched his brother saunter off. What he’d give to find a woman who could deliver Stone the kind of knockout he delivered on the ice but to his heart. He needed it. Damon ran his hand over his black hair. Hunter wasn’t any better. The super soldier who thought Damon didn’t know he was Special Forces was teasing poor Maggie Bell. The difference was Maggie could hold her own, unlike the googly-eyed woman now dancing with Stone.
“Someday,” Damon swore. “You’ll all find wives and I can stop worrying about you all.”

Across the room, Stone felt a shiver go up his back as if someone had walked across his grave. He shook it off and smiled down at the cute woman staring up at him. Damon was full of it. Settle down? Get married? Please. He was having too much fun.

It’s time for the Townsends to find love. Stone doesn’t realize it yet, but love is just a hockey season away. His story will be in Face-Off, book one in the new Shadows Landing: The Townsends Series.
