“You’re smaller and faster and smarter than any of them. Use their size and power against them. Be a storm, princess.”

Because he’s bigger and scarier, I don’t attack. I wait for him. Just like I was trained for. His arrogance will be his downfall. The loser charges for me. I swivel and try to sidestep him, but he’s too quick.

He snags me by my ponytail and draws my back to his chest, swatting my dagger to the dirt. The machete is brought to my throat. He won’t kill me, though. At least not yet. His hard dick poking against my ass is a good indicator. He licks my neck, then slides his hand between my thighs to roughly grab me.

I elbow his stomach, and the bones in my arm scream in pain. He doesn’t even grunt in response. The fucker feels like he’s made of metal. Vas taught me to head butt from this position, but I’ll be damned if I knock myself out over this guy. I’d be willing to bet he has a thick fucking skull, pun intended.

“You’re going to cry so hard, your daddy will have nightmares until the day he dies.” He licks me again. “You think he’s watching?”

  My father?

I fucking hope so. I flip off the nearest camera, despite the pain throbbing in my elbow. That’s for you, Daddy. You weak son of a bitch.

“If you’re going to touch my pussy, Skull, at least make me come,” I purr, my voice taking on the sultry quality that used to make Rodion’s eyes flicker with wickedness and Zahkar’s darken. Darya calls it my siren voice. Vassy calls it my skank call.

The asshole behind me grinds his dick harder into my ass. “This is for my pleasure, not yours.”

“Pity,” I say with a faux yawn.

I grab his machete blade, the metal from my brass knuckles screeching against it, and push it away. Spinning, then ducking, I pick up my dagger and charge. He swings his blade toward my head, but I squat at the last second. The blade cuts through a section of my hair sending blonde strands fluttering.

Whipping my arm up, I stab him in his nuts. No thickness down here, motherfucker. He belts out an otherworldly howl, dropping his machete to grab for the dagger sticking out of him. Before he reaches it, I yank it out, then stab his lower stomach above his groin, thankful when the metal sinks into his flesh and isn’t met with resistance of bone.

“That’s for not giving a girl a little satisfaction,” I hiss, dragging the blade through his intestines. “She has to get it herself.”

He falls to the ground as he bleeds out. I steal his machete and prowl toward another corridor. Just knowing Yuri is probably beside himself exploding with rage that I took down his precious fighter has me grinning and skipping like a little girl toward the playground. I have to get to some cover. I’m not a big fan of being out in the open like this. The corridor is dark and windowless. At the end, I can tell it splits and goes left or right, a soft glow of light illuminating the space at the end. I’m headed that way when a man steps out of a doorway about ten feet in front of me.

He’s not as big as Skull, but something about his stance screams violence. Broad shoulders, but lean. He’s wearing a tight, black, long-sleeved shirt and black pants. The mask gives me the heebie jeebies. Rubber, long brown hair. Looks like some creepy Jesus. He wears black leather gloves, but doesn’t have a weapon to speak of. That means he wants to use his hands and knows how to.

I tense as I grip the machete.

“Out of my way, Jesus Freak.”

He ignores me, taking a step forward. Something about him scares the hell out of me, so I turn and rush into the door right next to me—right into a man nearly as wide as he is tall. He kicks the door shut, dropping a board in place to lock anyone out who might interrupt, and swings me into the floor. The machete clatters to the tile.

“Dinner,” the man says, grinning. His teeth are bloody, and his eyes are wild. One quick glance at the table in the middle of the room—topped with a cut open corpse, entrails ripped from its stomach—tells me I’m dealing with some crazy cannibal motherfucker. Great.

“Today seems like a great day to start your diet,” I smart off, rising to my feet.

Pounding can be heard on the door. The Jesus Freak wants in. His pounding is relentless. Hungry Hannibal, though, will be easier to take, I think. Jesus Freak creeped me out. Call it intuition. Something. Who enters The Games weaponless unless you’re badass as fuck?

Hungry Hannibal waddles my way, picking up a meat cleaver off the table. He throws it at me, and I dart to the right. It thwacks into the wall, remaining lodged. Quickly, I sidestep around the table, keeping my distance from this asshole. He’s huge, so I can be quicker.

  But I’m too quick.

I slip in a puddle of blood, and my head hits the tile with a pop. Blackness eats at my vision as I frantically try to remain awake.

  Black. Black. Black.

  “Sweet Heaven, sweet angel?”

I’m smiling in the darkness as I think about Zahkar’s flirty smile as he feeds me one of his wonderful pills. The way his brown fingers lingered on my lips. How his brother watched us intently.

  Pound-pound-pound-pound-pound.

I blink awake to the pounding of the door. A scream dies in my throat when I realize I’ve been tied to the table. The corpse has been dumped to the floor and Hungry Hannibal is testing the sharpness of one of his knives by holding it up to the light and poking his fat thumb at the tip.

  Pound-pound-pound-pound-pound.

  Crash!

Jesus Freak smashes through the door with a roar. I hope he kills this fucker, but then what? I’m tied to the damn table just waiting to be raped and flayed open. I squirm to no avail.

Hungry Hannibal throws one of his knives, but Jesus Freak moves like he really is some heavenly deity. Quick—so quick, I can barely follow his movements. He does a roundhouse kick and nearly knocks Hungry Hannibal’s head off his shoulders. The big fucker crashes into the table, knocking it on its side with me on it. I cry out in pain when my body jerks against the restraints. The fall has loosened one of my legs. I manage to wrangle it free just as Jesus Freak makes it around the side of the table.

He squats beside me. His palm slides up my thigh over my pants and he squeezes. A shudder ripples through me. I hike my knee up and unsuccessfully hit him with it. He’s just out of reach. His snort of laughter infuriates me.

“Let me go, you asshole!” I scream, squirming and kicking my one good leg.

Another figure looms just out of eyesight. I shriek in horror when I see a pill in the new guy’s hand as it comes into view. Jesus Freak holds my jaw open while Mystery Man shoves an acrid pill down my throat. One of them holds my nose until I choke it down dry. A sob of defeat claws its way up inside me, but my stubbornness drowns it out.

  I won’t let them win.

Feigning sleepiness from the pill, I relax despite the rage thrumming through me. The effects haven’t hit me yet, which is exactly why I need out of here—before it’s too late. As hoped, they start working at the ropes. I’m freed, but I still play dead. I can’t get them both at such a disadvantage while weaponless.

Jesus Freak picks me up, and I try to calm the erratic beating of my heart.

“There,” one of them says, pointing to a wall.

I stare at the wall in confusion. There’s nothing there. The pill must already be taking effect because I swear the voice sounded familiar. Mystery Man walks over to the wall and cocks his head to the side. He’s wearing the same stupid Jesus mask as his friend. Mystery Man is built the same too. Just my luck. The scariest dudes in The V Games have found me and are now talking to walls. What the fuck?

He rips at the paneling, and a hidden door is revealed. Jesus Freak squeezes me to him as though he can feel my heart racing at the prospect of escaping. But my lids are already growing heavy. A buzzing is zipping through my veins. My head lolls to the side against Jesus Freak’s shoulder.

  He smells good.

Stupid crazy psycho has to smell good. Of course he does.

Mystery Man wrenches the door open and steps inside. It’s dark and musty I learn as Jesus Freak follows him in. Mystery Man shuts the door behind him and starts walking into the darkness.

  “L-Let me g-go,” I slur, hating how vulnerable I am. “Let m-me g-go or I’ll c-cut your b-balls off.”

  They both laugh at me.

My eyes drift closed in the dark, and I inhale my awful captor. In and out of consciousness I drift as I am carried through a series of tunnels. We end up in a parking garage.

  Wait.

We’re not in the arena anymore?

Diana certainly never told me about this secret passageway.

My body feels heavy, and not at all like mine. I’m just a mind floating around in a useless form. Mystery Man stalks over to a midnight-blue sports car. Expensive. Flashy. Familiar. He opens the passenger-side door and sits. His arms are open and inviting. Jesus Freak releases me into his arms, shutting the door behind us.

“Y-You stole m-me,” I complain to Mystery Man, who also smells good.

Mystery Man pets me with a gloved hand. “Someone had to save you, princess.”

“T-That’s queen t-to you, asshole,” I growl as Jesus Freak climbs into the driver’s seat. The engine roars to life, and we peel out of the parking garage. Everything whizzes past me so quickly, I feel sick to my stomach. I clamp my eyes shut to fight off the nausea.

“Y-You broke the r-rules,” I grumble, my eyes barely cracking open.

Mystery Man, his hand no longer gloved, rubs his palm over my thigh. His brown skin is a stark contrast to my bloody white pants. The pill they gave me makes my body tingle from the touch.

“Rules were meant to be broken,” Jesus Freak says, reaching over to also touch my thigh. He, too, is no longer wearing his glove. Pale white skin. His fingers dance in a teasing way over Mystery Man’s flesh before he pulls away.

Mystery Man tugs off his mask, then reaches over to help Jesus Freak out of his. I blink at them, my mouth gaping. Back and forth, I look at the two men.

A matching pair of crazed eyes.

  Evil grins.

Two men more beautiful than any I’ve ever seen.

  Madmen.

“Y-You can’t just s-steal me,” I tell them, hoping and failing to sound haughty.

The pretty black man smiles, his scarred face making him look even more sexy. “We just did.”

  “B-But…”

“Shhh,” the white one purrs in a voice that’s starred in one-too-many of my late-night fantasies. “You’re our bounty.”

  “You can’t k-keep me,” I argue.

No-Longer-a-Mystery-Man cups my cheek with a gentleness that nearly brings tears to my eyes. “Oh, but we can.”

Not-Really-a-Jesus-Freak grins my way. “Oh, and we will.”

I manage enough strength to hold up my middle finger. They both laugh, warming me.

“There will be plenty of fucking too, Voskoboynikov. We’re not patient men. We’re madmen, lovely. And we’ve officially taken our bounty.”

  I close my eyes, relaxing.

My heart pounds in equal parts terror and delight.

Life is about to get a little more interesting.

And that’s sure as hell more exciting than death.

“You broke the rules,” I try again.

“We’re the Madmen of Moscow. We make the fucking rules.”

They are madmen, and they’re mine.

  To Moscow we go…
