“If you’re not going to talk to Shay,” Silas says, “you need to tell Charlie. She’s been asking when your meeting is.”

  I blink. “No.”

Gray looks like he’s about to burst an artery.

  “And why not?” Silas asks.

I look down at my legs. “Charlie doesn’t own me.”

A loud laugh bubbles up out of Gray’s throat before he turns to look at Silas. He’s laughing at me, and I shift awkwardly as I wait for him to contain himself. This female is turning me into a whiny, pathetic male.

“Are you telling me that you, a thousand-year-old demon, are scared of how a twenty-five-year-old human perceives you?” Silas asks.

I choose not to respond to that.

Gray approaches my bed and hovers over me. He’s trying to be menacing, and I let out a loud gasp and lift my hand in front of my face.

“Oh, no, Gray! Please, no!” I snort. “Have mercy!”

Gray’s pupils dilate as he glares down at me, and I glare right back. We both know he’s not going to hurt me, and I’m not in the mood to act scared just for his precious little ego. He’s an incubus, and I’m the King of Wrath.

The list of things I’m fearful of is short, and he doesn’t make the cut.

I turn to Silas. “Have you—” My sentence is cut short as a hand curls around my throat.

I’ve got about ten seconds before my wrath consumes me, and I rip Gray’s hand off my throat before grabbing his shoulder and yanking him over me. He loses his footing almost immediately, and I spin so he’s on his back and I’m kneeling over him.

My fingers dig into the sides of his neck, and I place just enough weight on his throat to remind him who I am.

Gray’s face turns red as he claws at my arm, but even the scent of my blood doesn’t stop me. First he hurts Charlie, and now he tries to choke me.

“That’s enough,” Silas sighs, pushing off the doorframe.

He grabs my shoulder and tries to ease me back. I loosen my grip on Gray’s throat, but I otherwise don’t move. Gray thankfully stops ripping at my arm, and I wince as I feel my skin begin to heal.

“If you two need to fuck, I’m fine with it,” Silas continues. “I’m sure Charlie will be, too.”

Over my dead body. Gray slides his thigh between mine, and I clench my jaw as it presses against me. I didn’t realize I was aroused until now, and I pull away from Gray with a quiet grunt. This can’t happen.

“I’m uninterested in pretending to enjoy a thirty-second, poorly executed hump,” Gray says as I climb off my bed

I don’t know why he keeps making digs at my virginity.

  “Fuck you,” I snap.

  “You wish.”

My eyes fall to his mouth before I catch myself and turn away. I may have once entertained the idea of what it would be like to be with Gray, but that’s in the past. He’s chosen the human, and I won’t beg.

Gray holds eye contact as he slides his arms out to his sides and runs his hands along my bedsheets. He’s not sly, and I purse my lips as his lust fills my lungs. He’s pushing his scent into my bedsheets, and they’ll reek of him when he gets up.

Silas clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth and moves back to the doorway. I’m willing to bet he can hear Charlie better from there.

As calm as he’s trying to be, I know he’s worried about Shay. I hate to admit I feel the same way. I don’t like how easily the female entered our home and spoke to Charlie, and a small part of me fears she will do it again.

I should have never brought Shay here to begin with.

Gray’s movements are suspiciously lithe as he climbs off my bed and steps toward me. His lust pours out of him in waves, the scent affecting me more than usual. We’ve been holding in our natural scents for so long that I almost forgot how strong they are when released.

  Especially Gray’s.

Silas’s doesn’t affect me much, and I’m sure he’d say the same about me, but Gray’s is different. Incubi’s always are.

Gray places a hand on my hip, and I struggle to remain still as I feel him weasel his fingers underneath my shirt. They press against my bare skin, and I hold back a shiver as our bond reacts.

I’ve gotten so good at ignoring our bond that it falls to the back of my mind most of the time, but it’s impossible not to notice when he’s touching me. Our souls are entwined, and I feel him pulling at mine as he steps farther into my space.

“Please meet with Shay,” he begs.

  For fuck’s sake.

Gray wraps his arms around me just as Charlie did the other day, and I resist the urge to disappear and materialize on the other side of the room. I don’t know why I don’t. Probably because it would hurt his feelings and there’s a sad, pathetic part of me that doesn’t want to do that.

He presses his cheek against my shoulder, and I suck in my cheeks when Silas steps forward and joins him in this infuriating hug.

“What the fuck is this?” I snap. “Don’t you see how childish you two are acting?”

Silas wraps his arms around both me and Gray.

“You’re big and scary, baby,” Gray coos, mocking me.

I push my arms out to try to remove my intruders, but they only double down and squeeze me harder.

“I’ll have Charlie say your name when she cums.” Gray’s offer captures my attention, and I stiffen as I wait for him to continue.

His lips brush my ear as he speaks, and I’m hopeless to stop my dick from twitching in my pants. Gray moans, the little fucker probably feeding on my arousal, and I curl my fingers around a wrist to keep myself steady.

Silas shifts, and I realize he’s whom I’ve grabbed on to.

“Don’t bother pretending you don’t listen to us,” Gray says. “I’ll fuck her with my fingers and tell her to close her eyes and pretend it’s you. She’ll scream your name when she cums.”

I gulp. “She’ll never do that.”

Gray runs his fingertips across the waistband of my sweatpants. His nail digs into my skin just hard enough to hurt, and I groan as my cock throbs. I fucking hate incubi.

  “She’ll do it,” he promises.

His lips find my neck, and I grow entirely still as he grazes his teeth over the spot he’s made abundantly clear he someday intends to mark. We’ve already got a bond, but he wants a physical reminder.

I tilt my head back to give him more room, and my grip on Silas’s wrist grows impossibly tight as Gray turns and begins kissing Silas instead. Silas moans into his mouth, and I drag the fate’s hand to my covered erection before I can talk myself out of it.

This is a bad idea. Silas takes hold of me, his grip tight.

  “Fuck,” I gasp.

Gray quickly grabs Silas’s hand and pulls it away, and I curse as my hips jerk forward and meet nothing but air.

“Would you prefer I have her cry out ‘Daddy’ instead of ‘Aziel’?” Gray asks.

I square my shoulders. I’m sick and tired of his games.

“‘Aziel’ will be fine,” I say. “I want you to do it while you’re fucking her with the toy.”

Gray beams. “Only if you go to Shay now,” he counters.

He unwraps his arms from my waist and steps back, and Silas quickly returns to the doorway. We all pause and wait until we hear Charlie’s even breathing before returning to our conversation.

“It’s the middle of the night,” I point out.

“She’s staying at her chateau in Lust,” Gray says, ignoring me.

I sigh. “I’m only doing this to shut the three of you up.”

Gray shrugs, clearly not caring, and leaves my room. He pulls Silas along with him, and I listen to their footfalls as they return to Charlie’s bedroom.

The bedsheets rustle as they climb into bed, and I listen to Charlie letting out a particularly loud grunt before she whines and the sheets rustle some more.

  “Did it work?” she asks.

  Did what work?

“Like a fucking charm.” Gray laughs.

I step closer to the door. Did what work?

Charlie giggles, and I frown as I listen to the three of them settle into bed. I’d kill to know what they’re doing right now, and I’d materialize in there if I thought Gray and Silas wouldn’t notice.

“I ended up agreeing to have you moan Aziel’s name the next time I get you off,” Gray admits.

Why is he telling her that? Did they set this entire thing up? I clench and unclench my hands as I imagine them getting together and concocting some plan for Gray to seduce me into doing their bidding.

Gray hisses, and I wonder if Charlie’s pinched his nipple as she so enjoys doing. I hope so.

Silas moans, and I cock my head to the side as I hear more shifting.

“I accidentally got Silas all turned on, too,” Gray admits.

There’s another low moan, followed immediately by the unmistakable sound of a cock being stroked.

“You’re so fucking needy. I want you to tell Charlie how embarrassingly desperate you’ve been tonight, rutting on and touching Aziel while I told him how I’m going to pleasure Charlie.” Gray’s voice is low, and I slide a hand down my own body as I listen.

  “Silas!” Charlie scolds.

She sounds pleased, the fucking gremlin, and I force myself to teleport to Lust before I do something I regret.

  SILAS

I TAP AIMLESSLY at my keyboard, unable to concentrate on a damn thing.

“I’m not changing my decision,” Rock says, his voice slightly muffled as it travels through two doors and a hallway. “Just because you know a fate doesn’t mean they aren’t endangered.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Charlie huffs.

I shake my head, holding back laughter. She’s gaining more confidence with each passing day, and I enjoy listening to her near-constant arguments with Rock.

“I can assure you, I do,” Rock says.

Charlie doesn’t respond, but the sound of paper being flicked makes its way to my ears.

“Would you care to ask Silas yourself?” Rock suggests.

I hope she does. She won’t be happy with my answer, and I think she knows that as she quiets down and returns to her studying. She loves giving Rock a hard time, and I’m glad we chose him as her tutor.

Most shadows in our home are desperate to appease her. They think it’s a way to win our favor, but I like that Rock doesn’t seem to care much for that. He pisses her off more often than not, and he doesn’t back down despite how hard she occasionally pushes.

Their conversation is cut short as Aziel storms into her office, his footfalls loud as he stomps down the hallway and pushes open her door.

“I spoke with Shay last night,” he says.

I lean back in my chair, eager to hear this conversation.

“And?” Charlie urges, my female clearly desperate to hear all the details.

Aziel clears his throat, an action he does whenever Charlie does something he thinks is attractive. He’s been doing it a lot recently, and I can only imagine what she’s done to provoke it this time.

“She had nothing to share other than what she’s already said to you,” Aziel says. “Shay’s untrustworthy, and I hold Levia’s word above hers.”

There’s a long beat of silence, and Aziel clears his throat once more before continuing.

“This was a waste of my time, and you’ve used up the one favor you’ll ever get from me. I don’t want to hear any more talk of Shay, and you’re to stop trying to use my males to manipulate me into doing your bidding. You’re a small human, insignificant, and you’d do well to remember that.”

I raise a brow, fighting the urge to laugh. Aziel tries so hard to pretend Charlie isn’t anything to him, but he’s not fooling anybody.

Charlie hums, and I hear the faint sound of a pen being clicked a few times.

“We’ll see about that,” she says.

Absolute silence follows her words, and I can only imagine how infuriated Aziel is right about now. He’s used to being in charge, and I can tell Charlie’s lack of respect drives him mad. I think it’s good for him.

He’s been leading Wrath for a long time, and he’s grown quite callous over the years. Charlie’s been forcing him to think about his actions, and I’d go as far as to say she’s softening him. He doesn’t like to show it, but I can see it in the way he’s always trying to evaluate and understand her emotions.

“We will see about that,” Aziel eventually says.

He’s storming back into his office a second later.

Even though his meeting with Shay was as unproductive as he thought it would be, he doesn’t need to be so dramatic about it.

We’re old, and one hour is hardly a loss.

Besides, it’s a small thing to give Charlie peace of mind. I know she has trouble trusting us after learning about our initial reaction to the female information, and it’s good for her to see that we’re taking her concerns seriously.

Drawers slam shut as Aziel searches his office for something, his audible frustration only growing as he leaves and makes his way down the hallway toward Gray’s. He refuses to turn in my direction as he passes my open door, continuing forward until he busts into the incubus’s office.

  “Where’s my keyboard?” Aziel snaps.

There’s a snort followed by a loud clanging. I imagine Aziel has shoved aside the chairs sitting in front of Gray’s desk in order to better hover over it and glare. Gray’s probably got a sly grin on his lips, happy with the attention he’s getting from Aziel.

It surprises me the lengths he’ll go to get Aziel’s attention, purposefully doing small, meaningless things to piss the Wrath off.

I should’ve known Gray wouldn’t be able to help himself from tormenting Aziel, but he will need to tone it down if he doesn’t want to hurt Charlie’s feelings. She’s protective over her relationship with Gray, and quite insecure. It’s easy to see she’s scared Gray will end up choosing Aziel over her, and his subtle flirting will only backfire on him.

Charlie is going to get upset, and Aziel’s going to get his feelings hurt when he eavesdrops on Gray comforting her.

“I didn’t touch your keyboard,” Gray says.

“No? Then care to explain to me what your greasy, stubby fucking fingertips are resting on right now?”

I shut my eyes and hold my breath to keep from making any sounds. As annoying as they are, I can’t lie and say their bickering doesn’t amuse me. It’s better than the sharp digs and physical fights they’ve been resorting to these past few months.

I’ll take an annoying, childish Gray over a bloody one any day.

Charlie starts up another argument with Rock before storming out of her office. She pauses outside Gray’s, probably peering in on him and Aziel, before pattering my way. I lean back in my chair and wait for her to come, my pulse racing.

She pops her head in my doorway, probably making sure I’m not busy, before slinking inside. She holds her hands behind her back as she enters, taking her sweet time looking around before sitting in the chair opposite my desk.

Her eyes linger on the cleaning supplies that still clutter up the room. Gray was so proud of himself as he cleared out what was once our cleaning closet and turned it into Charlie’s office, but now both his and my offices contain random items he couldn’t find a home for.

I didn’t mind him putting the cleaning products in here when I thought it was a temporary solution, but I’m starting to realize he has no intention of cleaning it up.

They ruin my aesthetic, and I don’t want the chemical fumes damaging my books.

Not to mention how distracting it is to have shadows moving in and out whenever they need things. Some of the more daring ones even seem to find humor in it, chuckling to themselves as they notice my glaring.

“How’d your test go?” I ask, not wanting Charlie to know I was eavesdropping on her tutoring session.

“I got one question wrong, which Rock refuses to change, but other than that, I did well,” she says.

I lean forward and rest my chin on my palm. It takes everything in me not to tease her for her argument with Rock. Listening to her banter with him is amusing, especially when they speak about my kind.

“I want to take you on a lunch date,” I say.

Charlie’s expression brightens, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips as her pulse quickens. She’s only been on one date before, and Gray’s bright idea was to take her to a pool bar.

  Where’s the romance in that?

“Where?” Charlie brings her hands together in an excited clap.

I pause before answering, unsure how well my idea will be received. Gray said it was a good idea, but I don’t want to disappoint.

  “It’s a surprise,” I say, standing.

Charlie jumps up from her chair as I walk around my desk and hold out my hand. The shadows I sent out earlier promised to have everything completed by now.

I pull my hand back to my side when Charlie hesitates to grab it. I know she hates teleporting, but it should be easier with me. Gray’s not as experienced with it, so his teleportations are rougher on the body, but mine are smooth.

“Come here.” I chuckle, pulling her into my arms.

Charlie buries her face in my chest, no doubt bracing for the sickness I’m sure she’s convinced she’s going to feel, and I press a kiss to the top of her head before taking her to our spot.

The sound of birds chirping is the first thing that makes its way to my ears as I materialize, and I hope it’s loud enough for Charlie to hear as she grabs my biceps for balance. Her nails dig into the muscle, but it doesn’t hurt.

“Are you okay?” I ask, running my hands down the back of her head.

Her body loosens one muscle at a time, and I take great pleasure in how she looks up at me with evident relief. Slowly, she turns, her heart pounding as she takes in her surroundings.

I brought her to a small, secluded island in Wrath. I found it a few hundred years ago, and as far as I’m aware, I’m one of the only ones who know about it. It’s one of my favorite places to visit, and Charlie seems to enjoy it as she looks around with a slack jaw.
