“Of course sweetheart.”
She whispered. Before she could even attempt to help her son, Kieran lifted her into his arms. As Caden moved, he assisted Rowan back into his cot. With an unfocused gaze and slurred words, she whispered his “thanks'' before he went completely limp. As quietly as they were able they motioned for members outside the doors to come, and take the dead shifter’s body. At least justice in a way had been served there. Sadly she felt death had been too kind of a sentence for him. He had hurt far too many people, magick, and nonmagick alike for that to be fair.
It took three members to carry his body from the room. The sight of this sent shivers down her spine. Unaware as to the way she demanded suddenly.
“Be sure to burn him right away.”
She was further surprised at the shocked, and fearful expressions on their faces, which then quickly relaxed.
“As you wish.”
With quick nods, they left.
Turning her attention to Ozel. Who started to wake, and who also seemed to be suffering from a broken nose. He looked even more like a slimeball to her. He had been quickly stripped and dressed like the women she saw, who had been sentenced before. Likewise, he had similar bindings, only for him, everything looked as if it had been multiplied many times. It was a wonder he could move at all.
Jutting her chin in his direction she asked.
“What’s to become of him?”
As Kieran lowered her to the ground he spoke while helping her steady her balance.
“He will be questioned, judged, and then sentenced.”
His voice sounded finite and angered simultaneously. Taking her hand in his.
“Come now, let’s go. Rowan needs some rest.”
Looking up to Caden he said.
“Plus we need to be better acquainted.”
With his nodded agreement Caden followed them to the door. They were almost there when Rowan sat up to say.
“He’s coming.”
Before once again falling back, and snoring soundly.
Harlow and Caden shared a look. It couldn’t be possible. Could it?
