Kissing on Third, page 18
part #6 of Belltown Six Pack Series
“Is that an invitation?” Levi asked.
She smiled. “It is.” She opened the door, and he followed her inside.
Her apartment was back to normal, at least for a few more days. She’d already scoped out the upcoming weekend’s garage sales. She was even thinking of upping her game and registering to attend some estate sales. But that would depend on Levi’s response to her plan.
“Your place looks almost bare now,” Levi said.
“Thanks to you helping my dad clear all the stuff out,” she said. “You know, you’re the best sales guy I know.”
“Oh really?” he crossed toward her, and she stepped back until she reached the kitchen table.
He leaned down, resting his hands on the table on either side of her. “If you didn’t create good product, it wouldn’t be so easy to sell.”
She rested her hands on his solid chest, her right hand over his heart.
“I can’t believe what you did tonight,” he said, scanning her face. “I’ve never had anyone do something like that for me.”
Finley moved her hands up to his shoulders. “I was worried you’d be mad at all the attention because you told me you hated your birthday.”
Levi gazed at her for a moment. “I don’t hate it any more. Thanks to you.”
She smiled. “Good.”
He lifted a hand and touched the edge of her jaw. “What ever happened to those roses?”
Finley opened her mouth, then closed it.
Levi chuckled. “I think Rhett ended up with them.”
“I was sort of preoccupied, I guess.” She moved her hands over his shoulders. “You know, I’ve been thinking . . .”
When she didn’t continue, Levi leaned closer. “About how much you love me?”
Finley smiled. “Sort of.”
He quirked a brow.
“About taking you up on your offer to go into business.”
Levi drew away. “Really?”
“Really.”
He pulled her against him into a tight bear hug.
Finley laughed. “So are you still offering, then?”
“Of course.” He loosened his tight hold. “When are you quitting the pub?”
She drew away, keeping her arms looped around his neck. “I put in my two weeks’ notice tonight.”
“Did I tell you that I love you?” he said in a low voice.
Goose bumps raced across her skin. “Um, you did while kissing me on third.”
Levi smiled.
“And I have one more thing to tell you,” she said, running her hand over his bicep and down his arm.
He kissed her forehead. “How many surprises do you have for me?”
“This is the last one.” She continued to trail her hand along his forearm, then his wrist, and finally linked fingers with him. “That last match against Shirley Temple might have been my last one.”
Levi stilled. “When did you decide that?”
“I don’t know exactly,” Finley said, looking down at their clasped hands. “I’m still thinking about it, but I don’t really have the desire anymore.”
“Because I fulfill all your needs and desires?” he teased.
She looked up at him to see the glint in his dark-green eyes. “You’re not getting that much credit.”
His smile was soft. “Whatever you want to do, I’ll be there.”
“I know,” she whispered. She leaned against him, wrapping her arms about his waist. The thump of his heart sounded next to her ear. Maybe Levi could take the credit. Because he’d definitely become her happy place.
His hands moved up her back in a slow caress. “Get your laptop,” he said. “We have a business plan to write.”
Finley closed her eyes, not wanting to release him yet. “Tomorrow,” she said.
“Okay, boss.”
She lifted her head and gazed at him. “So now I’m your boss?”
“Yep.” He winked. “I’m the lowly investor, remember? Although I plan on keeping you in line at all times.”
Finley smirked. “Okay, Mr. Florida. You can start by kissing me again.”
Levi grinned and did just that.
