  Prologue

A girl in every city. And he never wears protection.

Those are the rumors at least.

For every new office Ellis Ward opens, he takes a new girl in that city. No matter where he goes, there’s always someone waiting to keep him warm late at night and to give him…

  Whatever he wants.

And he refuses to wrap it. I mean, safe sex is important, but apparently not when you’re a rich billionaire playboy.

That’s the kind of man he is. Ellis takes what he wants and he’s ruthless about it. He’s one of the youngest billionaires in the city and he has a lot of offices all over the world.

I didn’t believe the rumors. I thought it was just a bunch of crap. I mean, how could one guy be so handsome and intelligent and charming that women would just throw themselves at him and let him keep them like pets? I don’t care how rich he is, nobody would let him get away with not wearing a condom. I just can’t see anyone doing that for him. I mean, at the end of the day he’s just running an incredibly successful conglomerate of video game companies. He’s got to be some kind of nerd, right?

But I’ve met Ellis. I’ve seen the way he walks into a room and dominates it with a single confident stare. I’ve seen the way women react to him, melt around him, become putty in his hands.

He’s definitely not a nerd. He’s so far from a nerd it’s crazy.

And now here I am in his bed wearing only a pair of panties with the sheets pulled up over my chest wondering: Am I one of those girls now?

I melted when I saw him.

I let him dominate me with a single stare.

I’m the total dorky nerd here and I’m so far out of my depth that I don’t know if I’ll ever get out from under this.

And I’m not even sure if I want to.

The idea of being just one of many girls scares me. I’m not that kind of person. I guess you can call me old-fashioned or traditional or just a total loser, whatever, I don’t care. But I think people should be loyal to each other. I think they should be exclusive and honest about it.

Not that Ellis is being dishonest. Actually, he’s being terrifyingly honest.

“Every single inch of you,” he whispered in my ear after I asked what he wanted from me. “And I want to feel every single inch.”

Every single inch. And god, I’m giving him every inch, and he’s giving me just as much in return.

I’ve never felt like this before. I’ve always been good, kept to myself, never really gotten into any trouble. I worked hard to land a job as an animator working for one of Ellis’s video game companies. I never wanted to be noticed by anyone.

But Ellis noticed me on that very first day. And now, lying in his bed waiting for him to come back, I can’t help but wonder what my life would be like if he hadn’t seen me.

And I don’t want to know. I wouldn’t give this up for anything.

I’m one of Ellis’s girls. I’m one of his playthings. He says I’m special, that I’m his favorite, but I’m afraid.

I’m afraid the rumors are all true.

“Come back to bed,” I whisper.

And I hear him move in the other room. “You want me back?” he asks softly.

I watch his body step into the doorway, his hard muscles flexed slightly, his boxer briefs barely covering his already hard cock.

“Come back,” I say again, feeling the spot between my legs start to soak through all over again.

“There’s only you,” he says softly, coming toward me. I lean back against the soft pillows, my legs opening despite myself. The sheets pull down over my body and I love the way his eyes drink in my bare breasts.

  I don’t know what’s true. I don’t think I care.

All I want is him in this bed and I can’t wait another second to have it.

  Claire

It’s my first day at Hurricane Games and I already feel completely out of my depths.

“Everyone in the conference room!” Roger calls out. “The CEO is coming!”

I frown a little bit, pushing back from my desk. I’m located in the far corner of the relatively open layout office right underneath an air conditioning vent, so I’m wearing a sweatshirt and I have a blanket on my lap to keep me warm.

Brian, the guy nearest me and another animator, gives me a look. “You hear about him?” he asks me.

  “Who, the CEO?”

  “Yeah, Ellis Ward.”

I shrug a little bit. “Everyone’s heard of him.”

“Yeah, but the rumors.” He gives me a grin and waggles his eyebrows. “Word is the guy’s a total perv.”

I make a face and cross my arms. I’m not really a huge fan of Brian, if I’m being honest. If anyone’s the perv in this office, it’s probably him. He’s nice enough, I guess, but mostly I go out of my way to ignore him when I can.

He is right about Ellis Ward, though. I was playing it cool when I answered him. Of course I’ve heard about our CEO, everyone in the video game industry has.

The man founded Hurricane Games ten years ago when computer gaming was becoming popular. He took a tiny company with only one game and turned it into multiple companies and dozens of massive titles spread across all different genres and markets. He runs all of them incredibly successfully and he’s practically a god in the video game world.

He’s also rich as sin and really, really handsome. I mean, not like that matters to me, but yeah. I have eyes. I can see how gorgeous the guy is.

It makes sense that there are all kinds of rumors about him. Like how he’s a player and has a girl in every city with a Hurricane Games office. Or how he’s dating all of those girls at the same time and sometimes has parties where he flies them all out to one massive house so they can all have crazy, kinky group sex.

Or whatever. I mean, that’s just what I heard.

But none of that matters. I’m just some low-down animator girl. I barely get to work on anything important. Ellis Ward is like on an entirely different plane of existence compared to me.

I follow the flow of people into the conference room. This is a new office, just opened in Philadelphia a month ago. I was one of the first people hired although the staff has grown pretty huge since then. Roger, my boss, is the epitome of gamer geek but he’s a nice guy and means well, so I let some of his more abrasive social mannerisms slide.

“Okay, shut up now,” Roger says at the front of the room. He holds his hands up and waves them around. The room’s packed with people and there’s a low murmur of conversation filling the space. “Let’s all shut up, please.”

Slowly the murmurs die down and Roger clears his throat. “Ellis Ward is coming to visit soon,” he says. “You all know who he is so I’m not going to introduce him. But I expect you all to be on your best behavior.”

“Only if he is,” Brian says, grinning like he expects people to laugh.

  Nobody laughs.

Roger ignores the comment. “The Philadelphia branch of Hurricane is brand new and if we want some serious responsibility moving forward, we’d better show Mr. Ward that we’re professionals. So straighten up your workspaces and smile like you love working here when he’s around, okay?”

The group mutters their assent and Roger launches into a breakdown of how the visit’s supposed to go. General meeting for upper management first followed by a tour of the grounds followed by a demo of what we’ve been working on lately, which isn’t all that much since we’ve only been open for a month. Then Ellis will probably be set loose upon the city of Philadelphia and every eligible girl in a ten-mile radius better watch out.

I grin to myself, imagining Ellis Ward as some kind of horny Godzilla, coming to devour all the plastic model girls.

When Roger finishes, we’re released back to our desks. Everyone’s excited for Ellis Ward to visit though and I can’t help but overhear the conversations.

“I heard he gives out bonuses to girls he thinks are pretty,” one woman whispers to another. “Think that’s true?”

“You don’t have to worry about it,” the other woman says.

  They both laugh at that.

“I also heard he’s notorious for not wearing… you know.”

They giggle again and I sigh.

Another guy leans over to his friend. “Think Ellis is gonna take the office out tonight?” he asks.

“Maybe,” the guy says. “I heard he did that for Portland.”

  “No way,” a

nother cuts in. “He’ll just buy us some bagels and call it a day.”

“He’s not that cheap,” the first guy interjects.

They stumble off, arguing over what the CEO’s going to buy for the office while I drift back to my workstation and plop back down in my seat. I grumble up at the air vent above me and pull the blanket over my lap.

Even though there aren’t a whole lot of girls working in this industry in general, I love my job. It was my dream in college to work for a company like Hurricane so even just being here every day is like the perfect thing for me. The guys here can be kind of sexist and annoying but I find that if I just do my job and ignore them, it’s really not that bad.

I lean toward my monitor and pull up a project I’ve been working on. Since Ellis Ward’s coming today and everyone’s distracted, I decide to do a little side game I’ve been building on my own.

It’s called Love Girl. It follows a shy superhero with the power to make people fall in love with each other. She has to rescue a city that’s attacked by alien mind stealers by making people remember what it feels like to be human. It’s a quiet, plot-driven game and I doubt anyone will ever play it or like it, but it’s my game and I love it anyway.

There’s a buzz in the office an hour later and I turn away from my monitor, surprised at how much time has passed since I started working on Love Girl again. Ellis Ward is clearly here and people are craning their necks to spot him.

I only watch a glimpse of a tall man with dark hair and light blue eyes wearing a perfectly fitted business suit following Roger into the conference room. That was definitely Ellis. He’s taller and more muscular than I would’ve guessed, especially for a video game developer.

I shrug and turn back to my screen. I switch over to some official work and try to distract myself from this visit. It doesn’t matter if the CEO is here or not, I’m just some lowly little animator girl. I adjust my glasses and try to lose myself in work.

But I can’t help paying attention to the rest of the office. People are really worked up over this whole thing. They’re trying to look busy while also gossiping endlessly. The company Slack is going absolutely insane and I can hear the clatter of keyboards as people type furiously, speculating about the CEO in some pretty lewd ways. I follow along but I don’t bother adding anything.

I get so lost in the Slack chatter that I don’t notice when the office slowly goes quiet. I hear some whispers nearby and I switch back over to my normal work just as I spot Roger and Ellis Ward approach my desk.

I blink up at the pair of them. Roger practically disappears, overshadowed by the massive and insanely handsome Ellis. I stare openly at his muscular arms and handsome face. He seriously looks more like a supermodel than he does a CEO of a video game company and now all the rumors about him make total sense.

Of course he has a harem of women all over the country. I mean, look at the guy. I bet any woman would die to spend just a night in his bed.

  “Nice blanket,” he says.

It takes me a half second to realize that Ellis Ward is talking to me. The CEO and founder of this company is actually… talking to me.

“Uh, sorry,” I manage to say.

He grins. “Are you really that cold?” he asks me.

“Sorry, Ellis,” Roger says. “She said it was necessary and I thought it would be fine.”

Ellis waves him off. “No, it really is fine. But why are you so freezing that you need a blanket in summer?”

I work my jaw for a second like I’m trying to remember how to speak before finally pointing upward. Ellis follows my gesture and spots the vent pointing directly down at me.

He lets out a little laugh. “Unlucky,” he says.

“Yeah. But at least I get to use a blanket.”

“Not a lot of companies would allow that, you know,” he points out.

“Luckily, I work at the best darn company in the world.”

He laughs at that. “So true. What’s your name?”

  “Claire.”

“Nice to meet you, Claire. I’m Ellis.”

He reaches his hand out and I take it. We shake and I swear I can feel the wet pooling between my legs. I feel like a horny teenager all over again just touching his guy’s hand.

And he’s looking at me with this expression I can’t completely place. It’s a mix between curiosity and desire, like he wants me but he isn’t sure why. It sends a chill down my spine but I hold that gaze, not letting myself look away.

“Are you from here?” he asks me after we release the shake.

  “Born and raised,” I say.

“So I guess you know the city pretty well.”

I shrug. “I hope so. Not that big of a city, you know?”

  “Are you busy tonight?”

The question catches me off guard. Roger’s standing there like a deer in the headlights, practically gaping at Ellis. I blink rapidly and try to get myself together when Roger finally gives me a look and gestures for me to say something.

“Er, uh, ah, yeah,” I manage to say. “I’m free.”

“Good. You can show me a good place to eat.”

  “Right,” I say stupidly.

He leans toward me with a little smile on his lips. “Pick someplace you’d never normally go,” he says softly. “Someplace expensive. My treat, okay?”

  “Sure. Okay. Expensive.”

He smirks and I seriously die inside. If I were an anime character, I’d have a nosebleed right now.

“See you after work,” he says and turns to Roger. “Okay, let’s keep going.”

I watch the two of them walk off. I sit there completely stunned and it takes a moment before I realize that the entire office is staring at me.

Seriously. Every single person is staring. And they all heard that exchange.

I turn bright red and spin back to my monitor. I pull up Slack and turn even redder.

You hear that? Holy crap. Clair’s his new girl in Philly.

Why the hell would he pick her?

  She’s cute, man.

She’s totally into it too. Did you see her staring?

Can’t blame her. Dude’s prime meat.

  Grade A hunk.

Lucky girl. I’m kinda jealous. I’d let him go raw on me.

Aren’t you married? To a girl?

I’d divorce her for him in a second.

I quickly close Slack and bury my head in my hands.

What the hell was I thinking, saying yes to that? Now everyone in the office is going to talk about me. I don’t want to be the center of attention. Hell, I don’t want to be on the margins of attention. I just want to work on whatever needs to get done and fly completely under the radar.

This is all because of this stupid blanket. If I didn’t have this blanket, he never would’ve noticed me.

Great. All because I get cold.

Now I’m going on a date with the rich office billionaire playboy. And he’s so handsome I know I’m going to make a total idiot of myself.

Too late now. He’s the CEO. I can’t cancel on him.

I have to go through with this whether I like it or not.

  Ellis

  Another city, another office.

I should be excited. I remember opening our first expansion office years ago. We started out in Seattle when I was barely out of high school coding this crazy game called Demon. From there things went wild and the company blew up so fast I could barely keep up.

I guess I’m a little jaded at this point. The office is nice and all but nothing really interests me that much about it. They’re going to be doing bit parts for our next big shooter game, mostly side animations that aren’t super important but need to get done. Maybe they’ll prove themselves and get bigger projects in the future, but right now they’re just an office of mostly grunt workers.

They’re important but not exciting. So I’m a bit bored when I spot her sitting in her little corner with a blanket on her lap.
