Amelia was telling the story of a new client she’d picked up, a wealthy businessman who was going to be traveling overseas come summer and wanted her to stay in his McMansion, as she called it, with his two dogs while he was gone and some remodeling was done. As she talked, Grace gave Vanessa’s hand a squeeze as their fingers entwined.
“I love you,” she said quietly when Vanessa turned to look at her. That beautiful face softened, the dimples came out to play, and those blue eyes that Grace could lose herself in? They sparkled with a joy and happiness that made Grace’s entire body feel warm.
“I love you back,” Vanessa whispered and placed a sweet kiss on her lips.
This.
Grace inhaled quietly, let it out slowly, and couldn’t have stopped the smile from blooming across her face if she’d wanted to.
This. This was it. She was home.
