“Maybe they’ll make a dragon temple.” Cyra grinned. “They can carve a big statue of Ryan’s face.”

“That sounds like a good idea to me,” I chuckled. “About time somebody made a statue of me.”

Cyra leapt onto my back playfully, and I spun her around as she shrieked.

Then we stepped over the corpses of demons and went down a dimly-lit corridor that was lined with ruined paintings. Nisha led us through a wooden door, and it brought us out onto a large stone balcony. There were thick benches that looked out over the Night Lands, and I sat down with an angel on each side of me.

It was nice to feel a chill in the air instead of the warm glow of the strange purple orbs, and Cyra passed me the wine bottle.

“Here you go.” She grinned. “I think you earned this.”

I pulled out the cork and took a swig of the dark liquid.

It had a deep, caramel flavor to it without being too sweet, and the red of the liquid shone in the moonlight. I wasn’t a huge wine drinker before, but the moondrop wine was undeniably delicious.

The drink warmed my throat, and I enjoyed the combination of the alcohol and the view as I passed the bottle to Nisha.

“How are your powers doing?” I asked the night angel. “It looked like the demon curse might have weakened them slightly.”

“I already feel stronger,” Nisha said as she took a sip of wine. “It felt like I had been half-asleep ever since the demons caught me, but now I am truly awake again.”

“Because of the moon?” I asked.

“Maybe.” The night angel smiled, and her silver eyes looked me up and down.

My skin suddenly felt hot all over, and I took my next swig of wine as casually as possible.

“I’m excited to see those powers in action,” I said. “Whatever they are.”

“You will learn soon enough,” Nisha laughed. “When we leave the Night Lands, they will be very helpful to our quest. But they would be even more helpful if you were to absorb them.”

I choked slightly on my wine at her words, and Cyra snorted. Then Nisha stared off into the distance with a slight smile without saying anything more, and I wondered if she had meant what I thought she did.

Did she want to bind herself to me to give me her powers? I tried not to get too swept up in that idea. She had just met me, and she might mean something else. Maybe she had a way to gift her powers to me without sex?

Plus, Cyra was sitting right beside me.

I snuck a glance at my fire angel to check if this comment had upset her, but to my surprise, the red-haired beauty was only smirking. Then she sent me a wink when she caught my gaze, and I realized her thoughts must have actually been along the same lines as me.

And not in a jealous way.

I had to admit, the idea of getting well acquainted with the night angel was appealing, and my mind began to wander.

“So, where will we go first?” I asked before my brain exploded with thoughts of the two angels.

“The Water Lands,” Cyra said. “That’s the closest place to here. Now that we have your dragon form, crossing the desert will be easy!”

“Good.” I nodded. “Because I am not fighting more desert monsters.”

The angels laughed, and the sound of distant music began to drift over the maze to the balcony. It sounded like someone was playing the banjo, and there were excited whoops and cheers as the song sped up.

“It sounds like the mortals are celebrating,” Cyra said with a small smile. “I can’t remember the last time I heard anyone playing music.”

We enjoyed the tune for a moment as we passed the bottle of wine back and forth, and we caught Nisha up on everything we had seen throughout the Night Lands. It felt strange to tell our story out loud and relive all the people we had met and challenges we had overcome.

My mind wandered to my old life back on Earth, and I realized there wasn’t a single thing I would truly miss. My whole purpose seemed to lie in Dracoria, and I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be. Everything that I liked about my old life, I loved even more in this one. My abilities and talents were even stronger here, and I had been able to help so many people in such a meaningful way.

As we sat and enjoyed the view, the moon began to slowly dull its light above us. It was bizarre to see the huge globe turn its brightness down like a night-light, and the sky started to become darker again.

“It’s getting late,” Cyra said as she stood up. “We should probably start to make a move.”

“I agree,” Nisha said. “It was so wonderful to hear the people of the Night Lands together once more. I want to bring that feeling to the whole of Dracoria.”

“We will.” I grinned. “Luckily, I have the perfect team assembled to bring down every demon who’s dared to walk this world. Let’s go and save some more angels.”

As we made our way back down and through the castle, I started to think about the next quest we had ahead of us. The Night Lands were filled with creatures I never could have dreamed of, and I had no doubt that the Water Lands would be similar in that way.

It was daunting to think of the distance we would have to travel, and the number of battles we would have to win to actually free all of the Throne angels of Dracoria. But I knew I could do it. Even when I was in my human form, I could feel my powers surging through every blood vessel.

I was a fucking dragon now, and I had two amazing Throne angels to guide me through this new world.

A huge grin spread across my face as we strode out into the fresh night air. It was time to fulfill my destiny. It was time to save Dracoria.

And who knew. Maybe I’d end up being the dragon in charge of it all.
