Cast of Characters from Book 3:

Joshua St. James: Supreme Alpha. Main character. Black hair and dark brown eyes that turn bright red when he shifts. After inheriting his parent’s pharmaceutical company, Josh finds out that he is actually a werewolf and an Alpha at that. This means he’s at the top of the food chain, with heightened senses and physical strength.

Mia: Omega. Josh’s mate. Mia is Josh’s Executive Assistant and acts as his rock while he figures out his new life. Long blonde hair and green eyes that turn bright blue when she shifts. Mia is super smart and can hold her own, and she doesn’t let the fact she’s an Omega let people think she’s weak.

Emily: Beta. Emily was a part of the pack attacking Josh’s business. Shoulder-length dark red hair and light blue eyes that turn bright yellow when she shifts. After Drake left her for dead, she abandoned his pack and decided to help Josh in the fight against her former Alpha, and now she’s part of Josh’s pack and also one of his girlfriends.

Matt: Human. Josh’s best friend. Matt and Josh were often mistaken for brothers, and it wasn’t a far-off assumption. Matt also has black hair, which is super curly, and blue eyes. He returns from traveling abroad so he can be there for Josh and is ready to support him in any way he can. Not a werewolf but was informed about werewolves by Josh.

Victor Montgomery: Beta. Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Lunar Corp. Tall and thin with long gray hair and gray eyes. Victor is like Josh’s coach while he settles into his role as CEO.

Benjamin Collins: Beta. Treasurer and Josh’s business rival. Collins is in his twenties and was after the CEO position before Josh’s parents died. He’s constantly sneering behind his square glasses and has dark oily hair and pasty skin.

Lexi Peterson: Beta. Board Secretary. Mid-thirties with short ginger hair and bright blue eyes.

Susan O’Malley: Beta. Vice-Chairperson and right-hand woman to Victor. Late fifties and a stoic mother figure to the younger members of the board. Thin eyebrows, short black bob, and black eyes.

Roland: Beta. The designated personal driver for Josh. Bald and almost always wearing black glasses and a black suit. He’s always on call and ready to take Josh wherever he needs to go, and he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Ali: Human. The receptionist at Lunar Corp. She has chocolate brown hair cut in a short bob and deep mahogany skin. She’s oblivious to the true nature of Lunar Corp.

Dean: Human. Bartender at Josie’s and an old friend of Josh and Matt. Scruffy-looking guy with a salt-and-pepper beard and thick black eyebrows. Chocolate brown eyes and always wearing a flannel.

Luke: Beta. One of Drake’s former pack members that gets taken in by Josh. Twenty-year-old kid with blond spiky hair and black tips. Soft brown eyes and a timid disposition.

Amy: Beta. Luke’s sister. Mid-twenties with a short platinum blonde inverted bob and the same brown eyes as her brother. She also joins Josh’s pack after he killed Drake and seems to have taken a liking to Matt, Josh’s human friend.

Finn: Beta. Another member of Drake’s former pack and now part of Josh’s. Mid-thirties, tall, and muscular with dark skin. He has dark brown eyes and a bald head, and he is pretty stoic.

Klaus: Beta. Another new member of Josh’s pack. Tall, lanky guy in his mid-twenties with a jet-black buzzcut and dark blue eyes. He’s quite timid and on high-alert 24/7.

Katie: Beta. New member of Josh’s pack, formerly part of Drake’s. An ex-veteran in her late twenties with long ginger hair, blue eyes, and a hooked nose. Her mannerisms scream military training.

Hallie: Beta. Hallie is a reporter from the New York Times who managed to figure out the truth about Josh. She has long chocolate brown hair with bangs cut just above her dark eyebrows, and hazel/amber eyes depending on the light. She wears thin circular glasses that sit on her button nose and full lips, and she’s almost too smart for her own good. She was recently turned into a wolf by Josh and has also joined his pack/harem.

Tyler Russo: Beta. Brown hair, usually slicked back. Brown eyes and a sharp pointy nose. Tyler pledged himself to Josh’s cause after admitting he was the mole helping Hallie take down the Guild of the Silver Claw, and he later joined Josh’s pack.

Stefan Bonetti: Alpha. The son of Luigi Bonetti and new leader of the Bonetti pack. Stefan is around Josh’s age and has dark brown hair which is shaved at the sides, olive skin with some freckles, light green eyes, and a sharp pointed nose. Stefan offered his aid to stop the Guild.

Lady Dame: Alpha. An old Asian lady, looks to be in her late seventies. Hunched posture and uses a black cane to walk around. She has black hair with streaks of gray, a pale face with a few wrinkles here and there, and soft brown eyes. Lady Dame pledged her aid and allegiance to Josh to stop the Guild.

August: Alpha. The leader of the Angel Pack. Long blond hair and a weirdly youthful disposition for a sixty year old, and he has light blue eyes that look almost transparent. August refused to help Josh stop the Guild out of fear. He was the only treaty Alpha to refuse.

Antonio Garcia: Alpha. The leader of the Garcia pack. Old man with olive skin and swollen brown eyes. He has a mop of gray hair that’s usually combed back and bushy mutton chops. Tony was the first wolf to ally his pack with Josh to help put a stop to the Guild.

Grizz: Werebear Alpha. A big hairy man covered in thick wads of hair. Grizz is the leader of the Black Tooth Bears. Thick brown hair cut into a mullet with a bushy beard. Flat and wide set nose and a thick brow. Dark brown eyes with small black pinhole pupils. Grizz pledged his allegiance and allyship to Josh to stop the Guild.

  Chapter One

  Z-TECH.

I replayed the name over and over in my head as I looked down at the syringe Arlo Whitlock had used to turn himself into a goddamn monster, but nothing came up.

I’d never seen anything so… terrifying. All of the assholes I’d faced since finding out I was a werewolf didn’t come close to what Arlo had turned into. And I was glad it was over. But it still didn’t answer how he turned into the drug-fueled abomination, or how many other wolves had access to that kind of power.

  Z-TECH, Z-TECH, Z-TECH.

Blank. My mind was completely blank. I had nothing to contribute, and neither did Lady Dame or my pack. And that just made this entire situation even more frustrating. Lady Dame had been right when she said one threat was dealt with but another rose in its stead. And while I was stoked we’d wiped out the Guild of the Silver Claw once and for all, I couldn’t help but dread whatever Z-TECH was.

“What do we do now, Alpha?” Luke, the youngest member of my pack, asked as he ran a hand through his spiky blond hair.

“I honestly don’t know,” I said with a sigh. “This is going to take some digging.”

“And a lot of time,” Emily, my cherry-haired mate, added. “Whitlock was an idiot, but not a complete idiot. He’s kept this hidden for god knows how long.”

“You’re right,” I agreed. “This isn’t going to be easy.”

“May I?” Lady Dame, an old Asian woman who was the leader of the pack in Hell’s Kitchen, asked as she extended her hand to me.

I placed the syringe carefully onto her wrinkled palm, and I watched as she narrowed her dark eyes to inspect it. She hunched her back even more than what it already was and put more weight onto her cane as she brought her face closer to it. I could see the loose muscles in her face contort as she tried to make something out of it, and I knew she was probably racking her brain just like I’d done.

If anyone was going to know something that could help us, it would be one of the older leaders who made up the peace treaty packs. But from the way her wrinkled face suddenly slackened, and how her bones popped as she straightened her spine, I knew it was just as fruitless as when I’d tried.

  “Nothing?” I asked.

“Nothing,” she confirmed with a tight-lipped smile. “But we will get to the bottom of this, I am sure. If it’s alright with you, I’ll keep a hold of this syringe and see if any of my men can turn anything up. Of course, we are more than happy to work with Lunar Corp. to find our answers.”

“There’s no point in us trying to figure it out right now, especially after that fight,” Mia, my first mate and my Omega, said. “We should head back to the den and get some rest. I think we all need it.”

“You’re right.” I nodded. “And I still want to celebrate our victory tonight, somehow. I think we all need that, too.”

“I could not agree with you more,” Klaus, the lanky Beta with a jet-black buzzcut, said as he stretched his arms out above his head. “Can we get some beer, or something?”

“What’s wrong with the alcohol we already have at the den, Klaus?” Katie, the ex-vet Beta, asked with a smirk. “You don’t like Finn’s cocktails?”

“Pick your words carefully, Klaus,” Finn warned, and his dark brown eyes narrowed playfully.

“You know what? Forget I said anything,” Klaus said and held his hands up in mock surrender.

  “Cocktails it is,”

Finn said with a wide grin.

“Alright, let’s head back then,” I said before I turned back to Lady Dame. “I’ll see you when it’s time for the treaty meeting.”

“That you will, Josh,” she said with a warm smile. “Enjoy your celebration. You’ve earned it.”

“Thanks, Lady Dame,” I said and returned her smile before I started walking back the way I’d entered Central Park.

Hallie, Mia, Emily, you guys can come back in my Porsche, I said down the bond to all of my pack. We’ll see the rest of you back home.

You got it, Alpha, Amy, the platinum-blonde-haired Beta and Luke’s sister, replied. See you back home.

All of my pack except Hallie, Mia, and Emily started walking the opposite way while the girls walked over to my side. I’d parked my Porsche near Hamish Russo’s skyscraper, so it was a bit of a walk, but honestly, I felt like I needed the extra time to really cool off.

We walked through a sea of dead wolves that the police would have to deal with, and I grabbed Hallie’s hand to help her get across without falling over. Hallie had helped me during the fight with Arlo, and without her, I wouldn’t have been able to finish him off. She was new to being a wolf, and I’d turned her literally earlier today, so it made sense she was the most shaken up.

Her skin was paler than usual, and her body was still shaking with adrenaline. I could smell it pumping through her blood, and the sooner we were home, the better.

“How are you holding up?” I asked the brunette.

“I’m still surprised we managed to take him down,” she admitted with a lopsided grin. “Well, more surprised that I managed to take him down with you. I had no doubts you’d be able to do it.”

“You fought really well, Hallie,” I said as I squeezed her hand and helped her step over a particularly large wolf who’d had his chest torn open.

“I guess beginner’s luck is really a thing, huh?” the reporter joked.

  “I guess so,” I chuckled.

“Are you sure it wasn’t our training?” Emily asked with a smirk.

“The training was good, too,” Hallie said. “But allow me to be a little bit delusional, Em.”

“Sure thing, newbie,” the cherry-haired Beta fired back with a fond smile.

“It looks like you’re fully healed now, Josh,” Mia said as she leaped over three wolves all lined up in a row with their entrails hanging out. “That’s good.”

“Yeah, thank God for the full moon,” I said as I looked down at my torn velvet suit.

Flashes of Arlo’s neon-green eyes invaded my vision, and I quickly blinked them away. His gnarled claws had dug in deep, but thankfully, I had healed. As a Supreme Alpha, my healing abilities were already pretty quick, but something told me that if I didn’t have the full moon on my side tonight, I’d still be nursing my wounds.

“This really was one for the history books,” Emily sighed. “It’s almost poetic when you think about it.”

“What is?” Mia asked with a giggle.

“The full moon on the night of the biggest fight Manhattan’s seen since the Massacre,” Emily said dramatically. “Oh, if only you could write an article about this, Hal. I might have let you steal that line.”

“If only,” Hallie played along and pouted.

The three of them burst into laughter, and I found myself smiling as we got further and further away from the mass of bodies. I was glad they could laugh after going through hell. And it definitely made the walk back to my car less depressing, that was for sure.

We carried on in silence until we reached my brand-new Porsche 911. It was a sleek silver vehicle that had a top speed of one hundred and eighty-two miles per hour. Not to mention, it was a four-seater, which meant I could haul around all of my girls without them squeezing into one seat.

I unlocked the car with my fob, and Hallie and Mia climbed in the back before Emily hopped in the front with me. I didn’t waste any time in taking us back to the den, which was in Hell’s Kitchen, and I don’t think I’d ever been more grateful to see those old gym doors.

The rest of the pack was already here, including Tyler, our newest Beta who also happened to be Hamish Russo’s son. I could hear them from all the way down the road, but as we climbed out of the car, the sounds of them messing around inside and the radio blaring out some old-school tunes was much louder and clearer.

I held the wooden door open for the three wolves to enter first, and they all sent me small smiles in thanks. I followed in behind them and watched as they immediately headed to the mini bar, which Finn was manning.

The dark-skinned Beta was shaking up cocktails and had four glasses already lined up for us. The rest of my pack were sipping on drinks of varying colors while dancing around the wrestling ring in the center of the room.

“Looks like you really got the party started, huh?” Emily asked as she leaned against the bar.

“We couldn’t wait,” Luke said as he twirled and almost spilled his drink in the process. “We’ve still got enough energy for a good time.”

“Hey, spill that, and it’s your last one,” Amy warned like a scolding mother as she pointed her finger at her little brother.

“Jeez, lighten up a little, sis,” the spiky-haired Beta said with a toothy grin. “We’re alive!”

“To being alive!” Tyler said as he raised his glass up into the air. “And to never having to deal with my father again.”

“And to having cocktails over beer,” Klaus grumbled.

“Very funny.” Katie rolled her eyes and held her glass up in the air, too. “To being alive.”

Finn poured an orange liquid out of the shaker into the four glasses before he set it down and grabbed one he’d had behind the counter.

“You call that a toast?” he asked in his deep voice as he maneuvered out from behind the bar. “The man of the hour doesn’t even have a glass in his hand.”

Mia grabbed two of the glasses and quickly shuffled over to me. She handed one to me with a sweet smile before she looped her arm through mine and pulled me over to the rest of the pack.

“To the man of the hour,” Mia said as she raised her glass. “And to taking down the Guild.”

“Hear, hear!” Katie said, and the others repeated her words.

I raised my glass with a bashful smile, and the rest of my pack all leaned in so they could clink their glasses with mine.

“To our victory,” I added. “I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Or the treaty packs.”

“The ones that bothered to show up,” Emily grumbled under her breath.

“August is gonna regret it,” Mia said with a sour look on her face. “But let’s not think about him or anyone else. The rest of tonight is about us.”

“Amen to that,” Hallie said as she downed her drink in one. “Finn, mind if I get another one?”

“Coming right up, Hallie,” he chuckled as he made his way back over to the bar.

Amy, Luke, and Klaus went back to their rather uncoordinated dancing that made them all look like they had two left feet. Katie sat against the wrestling ring and watched with a soft smile like a proud mother hen, and Tyler had sat himself down on one of the couches and was slowly nursing his drink with a contented smile on his face.

I joined Hallie at the bar while Mia and Emily started to ballroom dance with each other in a half-assed way so their drinks didn’t spill.

I wanted to join in with them, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I didn’t know why, but I was still stuck in a weird sort of post-battle limbo. I was trying to focus on the positives. It was like Luke said, we were alive. We’d made it, and we’d come out on top, once again.

But there was still this sickening feeling in my stomach that stopped me from moving forward.

Hallie thanked Finn as he refilled her glass, and the reporter leaned her elbow on the bar as she watched the tall Beta return to Katie’s side on the wrestling ring.

“This is nice,” Hallie said as she sipped her drink. “It feels like a real family.”

“That’s because we are,” I said. “In a really weird and fucked-up way.”

“Yeah, right,” the brunette snorted. “I don’t think it’s so fucked up. Sure, the circumstances that brought us all together are not exactly ‘normal,’ but I think we all need this, to some degree.”
