“Sounds like something right up our alley. I’ll get the planning cycle in gear.” He stood with a faint wince.
“Still a little sore?”
He held out his hand, palm facing down, and wiggled it.
“Sometimes, when I move the wrong way. Oh, I meant to ask ever since I woke up in the base hospital. What happened on Earth after the assassination attempt?”
She flashed him a rueful smile.
“I’m not supposed to know this, but the Chief of Naval Intelligence told Blayne Hersom, Director General of the SSB, that if anything happened to me again, whether it was at SSB hands or someone hired by Sara Lauzier, he would die.”
“Meaning Admiral Doxiadis essentially told the SSB we have them in our gun sights.” Pushkin nodded, a pleased smile on his face. “And not before time. The bastards are about to discover we’re the undisputed masters of the dark and dirty war.”
About the Author
Eric Thomson is the pen name of a retired Canadian soldier who served more time in uniform than he expected, both in the Regular Army and the Army Reserve. He spent his Regular Army career in the Infantry and his Reserve service in the Armoured Corps. He worked as an information technology executive for several years before retiring to become a full-time author.
Eric has been a voracious reader of science fiction, military fiction, and history all his life. Several years ago, he put fingers to keyboard and started writing his own military sci-fi, with a definite space opera slant, using many of his own experiences as a soldier for inspiration.
When he is not writing fiction, Eric indulges in his other passions: photography, hiking, and scuba diving, all of which he shares with his wife.
