Nita's Redemption, page 5
“Dammit, female. The demonesses aren’t like humans or even shifters. Their scale of one to ten with one being no pain and ten being fucking painful like chop off a limb, they’re a fifteen as a starter number because to them, losing a limb is like another day at the fucking park,” Gray growled, sitting next to Jaklyn, and pulling her onto his lap.
“Yeah, well, they can regrow said limb so where are you going with that analogy?” Nita asked.
Vasilis heaved a sigh. “They can, but you can’t.”
Nita stared at the gathered people, knowing they would have a fit with what she planned to do. However, she was also aware there wasn’t any other choice. The show and tell was now down to show since tell wasn’t working. “So you’re saying if I can lose a limb and regenerate like the other females all would be fine?” She needed to get them to state emphatically that was their objection.
“For a start, yes. The demoness females were reborn after surviving hundreds of years in Hell. The things they can do are astounding and not something a normal shifter can do in human form.” Vasilis voice held a note of admiration.
She pulled the blade from the sheath at her hip. “Well, I guess I’ll have to see how you feel when I regrow this hand.”
The Ravens were fast as fuck, but her males were even faster, nearly stopping her before she severed her hand at the wrist. Link grabbed her by the waist while Abe caught her falling appendage. Tank gripped her bloody stump, applying pressure to the already healing wound. She opened her mouth to explain all was fine but the unholy growl that filled the large space shut her up.
Tank’s eyes had gone from brown to the lightest blue she’d ever seen. “What the hell did you do?”
The hair on his arms grew then receded like he was fighting his wolf from coming out and winning.
She looked down at where he held his shirt over her wound, giving a little tug for him to let go. The way his jaw worked was a testament to his anger, and whooowee, did she find him to be sexy when he was mad. “Let me show you, big guy.”
His blue peepers locked on hers then down at her hand as it unwrapped his makeshift bandage. The audible gasps made her wish she’d done something dramatic, but then again, the males who were hers even if she hadn’t claimed them yet would’ve probably all had heart attacks. Could shifters have heart attacks? She had no clue and didn’t want to find out by her males being the first to do so.
“Jumping Jehoshaphat, don’t you ever do something like that again without letting us know you can do it,” Abe muttered before burying his nose into her neck. He shuddered so hard Nita was worried he was going to stroke out.
“What the hell is going on in here, I smell blood?” Bakra asked.
They turned to stare at the female who had appeared out of nowhere. “Bakra, you gots some splaining to do.” Jaklyn shook her finger while she spoke.
“Oh, so Jehoshaphat was only thirty-five years old when he became King of Judah. He reigned over Jerusalem for twenty-five years. His mother's name was Azubah, and she was the daughter of Shilhi. Jehoshaphat was said to have walked in the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them, which they say was right in the eyes of the Lord. Now I don’t know if you believe in all that or not, but there you have what I know about Jehoshaphat,” Bakra said. She scrunched up her nose for a moment. “Oh, and Jehoshaphat was a man of great diplomatic skill, and his biggest weakness was his habit of forming alliances with evil men — first with Israel's King Ahab, then later with Ahab's son King Ahaziah, and finally with Ahab's son King Jehoram. Truly, foolish of him but alas, I think he just trusted too easily.”
“I do not give a fuck about this male.” Dimitri flashed to where the demoness lounged against the wall. His hulking form blocked Nita from seeing her friend.
“Rude boy,” Bakra said with a sigh.
“You talk about this male as if he’s of worth, when we just witnessed her chop off her own hand.” Dimitri’s growl rumbled loudly.
“No, I was just explaining what I know of that male. I’ve heard humans say that phrase, but I’m sure they have no clue that he was a real being.”
Nita was sure her friend was rolling her eyes at the stupidity of said humans. Her mind worked to make sense of everything running through it, stopping on images she hated. She also realized Bakra completely ignored the appendage lobbing.
She looked up at the ceiling and spoke, hoping the others would forget the little demonstration. “Stop. I can regrow my hand, or any other part, except my head. I’m pretty sure if I lost my head I’d be dead for real. I have Bakra and the others to thank for that. What I found out about my mama is that she had an inner magic that my bio father wanted for himself. Somehow they were mates which worked in his favor except he didn’t feel the need to treat her like a male should treat his female. What I saw was her getting weaker day-by-day until finally, she gave up. He didn’t allow her to have any interaction with me. If she did, he punished me. Once that reality hit her, she stopped trying and then she took her own life. When he found her, he made me dig a hole and bury her. I was five.” Nita shuddered, hating the images and the memories.
“He was a fucking monster who deserves to die a million times, each one worse than the first.” Jaklyn’s voice shook. Tears rolled down her cheeks while her males wore masks of calm except Nita saw through them.
“I totally agree. I have people who think that I have demons in my head that I’m still fighting. Which I guess is kind of true. I mean, there’s a lot of shit that’s in here I wish wasn’t. From the time I was old enough to know how to roll over, there have been demons in one form or another that I’ve had to lock up in my mind so I could just get through another day, another hour, hell, another minute, all thanks to that bastard. I’ve been fighting demons, actual demons in real life since I was a kid. I can thank my sperm donor for many things, including showing me there’s darkness in the world. Long before I knew that the line between Earth and Hell was thin, much thinner than humans were aware of, I was introduced to some of the vilest, evil beings. Bakra and the others, they made it easier to breathe and then I realized I needed to know the truth and the only way I could do that was going back to the beginning.”
Nita didn’t regret sliding through the old trailer she’d been raised in or experiencing what her mother had. In fact, she saw no other way to have survived without doing as she’d done.
“What did you learn that couldn’t have been told to you when you were old enough?” Jaklyn asked.
A laugh burst out of Bakra. “Sorry, it’s just that well... if shit would’ve gone the way of humans, Nita would be an extremely young adult now. Think like late teens. That would mean y’all would be accused of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and you males would be lusting after a child. So where are my thank yous, bitches?” Bakra asked, stepping around the Raven.
Nita snorted, knowing not a single person in the... trailer? Well, she guessed it was still a trailer even though it looked like she’d stepped straight into a Better Homes And Garden place. Even so, none of those chilling in the space looked prepared to say thank you to Bakra.
“How did you escape from your...past?” Link asked.
She looked over at the male, staring into his electric blue eyes that were identical to his twin brother Abe. Both were true alphas just like Tank. The three males were not staring at her like she was crazy. No, they were looking at her as if she hung the moon, and they were ready to howl. The power that gave her was almost overwhelming. Nita jerked her mind away from thoughts of the three males to concentrate on her answer.
“There’s no escaping from the demons coming up. They’re there, in front of me, behind me, surrounding me my entire life. I used to feel ashamed of my childhood until I realized I was worth more than the past. What cinched my resolve was from when I’d been punished severely. Let’s just say it was almost my breaking. I’d actually thought of giving up, but I believed what was on the other side had to be worse than what I was facing. You know they say better to face the devil you know instead of the one you don’t. What did I know besides my living Hell? Who would gain?” She sighed. “I looked around, seeing what I’d be leaving, and thinking about all I’d learned in my brief life. Then I realized it didn’t matter. All those questions were meaningless. What mattered was where I was going from here. Where I wanted to go. That acceptance made me come to terms with my choice to live. That’s when I could move forward. I gave two mental middle fingers to the bastard, and I lived.” She shrugged, knowing the pain was still great, yet it led her to where she was today.
“You’re a damn warrior queen is what you are. It don’t matter that you don’t have a crown. Hell, crowns get lost, stolen, and sometimes tilted. Girl, your crown might get skewed or even a little tarnished, but you’re still a mother-fucking queen.” Link lifted her chin with his finger, holding her gaze with his.
Her tongue came out, wetting her lips. “I needed to know about my mother. She was this huge mystery. I feel like I can be the female my mates need. Plus, I have the blood of Bakra and the others, which makes me more than I was. I promise not to lob off anymore limbs unless it’s completely necessary.”
All three males groaned and said ‘Thank fuck’ at the same time.
They spoke for another fifteen minutes or so, discussing the strange occurrence and threat they were faced with. None had much to go on, which didn’t sit well with any of them. They showed Jaklyn the images of the females and the feelings they’d gotten from the females from town.
Jaklyn held her hand up to stall the talking. “With the new threat, we need to be more vigilant and aware of danger, but I don’t want to alarm the entire pack until we know more. From the sounds of it this could be about Nita or possibly her mother. Let’s shelve this until we can find out more about the females. Alpha has already set out an order that nobody is to go out alone, which will set a little fear amongst the crew.”
Chapter Four
NITA’S HEART RACED as she watched Link lower his head. She counted the seconds, knowing she could stop the male if she wanted, but fuck it, she didn’t want to stop him from claiming her lips.
“Nerp, not in mi casa. I cannot allow the stank of your sex shit to stink up my humble abode. Colt, flash them home. I’m busy holding our female.” Gray snapped his fingers three times, making Jaklyn laugh.
“I’ll have you know our... sheot, I can’t even say those words without wanting to gag. We will see ourselves home, thank you very fucking much, dickhead.” Abe elbowed Link out of the way, swooped down and tossed Nita over his shoulder.
She gave a yip that would embarrass her later, but for now she pushed up on one arm, waving at Jaklyn and Bakra, the latter was in a weird face making match with Vasilis. They were totally going to end up fucking one another she was sure of it.
Bakra held up her hand with her middle finger extended. “Fuck off, NitaBee. I ain’t fucking him unless he’s the last dick on Earth.”
“What the hell? I didn’t offer you my dick anyhow,” Vasilis yelled.
“Listen, females need five things from their males. Number one, they need them to have a good job. Number two, they need them to have a good dick. P.S. I have that in fucking spades. Number three, no fucking hoes unless it’s your female’s.” Colt winked down at Jaklyn while holding up three fingers. “Number four. You must have excellent communication skills. You need to know your female’s love language. Jaklyn has the best love language ever. She likes good dick, so that takes us back to number two. Which I excel at. And lastly, number five. This is a very important one, so listen up pups. You need to have the energy for round two. Boom, if you got all that, then you’ll be in like Colt. Which rhymes with bolt and that is fast as fuck, boy.”
Jaklyn shoved Colt off the sectional with a growl and a laugh. Abe continued walking out the door with Nita on his shoulder while Link and Tank followed. She wondered if the males were taking notes because she definitely wanted good dick and, well, good communication with her guys was a must have, too. A job wasn’t as important since they all had money thanks to their family and Zeus, but she wanted them to like what they did.
“Take it easy on our girl there, Abe. We don’t need her getting any injuries with the way you’re carrying her like a sack of potatoes,” Link growled while keeping up with Abe’s long strides.
“Anyone take notes while dumbass was talking back there?” Nita asked, shifting slightly so her head wasn’t staring directly at Abe’s flexing asscheeks. Damn, the male definitely had a nice rear end.
“I think I can say for all three of us that Colt is full of shit, and it’s not prohibitive to listen to a thing that comes out of his mouth. However, since I’ve seen both of these two in their birthday suits, and while they might not be as well-endowed as I, we all have good dicks,” Abe said.
“Um, Abe, aren’t you and Link twins?” Nita asked.
“Yeah, so?” he asked.
She rolled her eyes wondering how long it was going to take them to get to her trailer only to recognize the woods they were passing were on the opposite side of the park and closer to the trios trailers. “Are you taking me to you guys’ place?”
Tank grunted, but the others didn’t say a word. These males were going to learn her love language wasn’t made up of grunts and belly scratching.
“Rule number one, boys. You don’t just assume I am good with whatever you decide. Rule number two, you always ask me before you cart me off to your den of debauchery. I will not be another notch on your huge bedpost where you’ve fucked a long line of other females.” Her words came out more growl by the end, but thinking of all the females who’d traipsed in and out of their lives while she’d been a kid and then up on Olympus made her angrier than she’d expected to be. Had to be hormones.
“Whoa, Abe, hold up before she rips your head off, brother!” Link held his hands up, staring at Nita.
As they stopped moving Nita prepared to hop off of Abe’s shoulder, her anger probably irrational, yet she couldn’t control the rising feelings of... deception, mistrust, and dear goddess, she felt as if the three men had violated their bonds to her. What the fuck? They hadn’t even bonded to her yet.
“Guys, I think I need a minute to get myself together. I think it’s best that I go home and... I don’t know take a shower and breathe.”
“Fuck that. You look like you’re ready to kill all of us, and we need to know what the hell we did to you.” Link spoke in a low rumble, his eyes locked onto hers.
Nita used the distraction to launch herself off of Abe’s shoulder, ignoring all three males’ warning growls. They’d learn not to underestimate her real damn quick, or she’d leave them in the dust with their mouths open and their dicks in their hands, if they were lucky. She had zero intention of being the little female who needed the big strong males to protect her. Hell, she may have been weak when she was younger, but that little girl was dead.
“Hold it right there,” Nita said. She held her right hand in front of her, stopping the three males in their tracks. “I don’t know if I’ve given y’all the wrong impression of me or what, but clearly we have some shit to get straight before we go any further.”
“Oh, we are going further, mo go hálainn rós.” Abe placed his feet shoulder width apart, his eyes flared bright blue as he called her his beautiful rose. Goodness her insides fluttered at his sweet words.
“I may not be as good at the words as that one, but I can guarandamntee I’m every bit as good at listening and even better at cliterature.” Link winked before he grunted as Tank elbowed him in the gut.
“Do I want to know what that is?” Nita asked.
Two of her males gave emphatic ‘hell nos’ which made the need to hear Link’s explanation even more imperative. Her life was crazy so hearing him, probably the wildest of the bunch, would at least make her feel less... crazy. Maybe.
“Alright, let me hear it, Link.” She prayed whatever he said would not make her regret her choice about having him speak.
“Well, you know lots of people get fancy degrees with letters behind their names, yeah?” Link waited a beat or two while Nita and the others nodded in agreement before he took a deep breath. “I have a PhD in cliterature. Mind you, I didn’t go to any fancy schmancy school, and mind you, my love, it was research for when we found our Fated, which happens to be the greatest female ever created, you. So anyhoo, I’m a bona fide PhD in my field because I sure as shit got all As in female pleasure. I do not need to be told where my female’s clit or any other pleasure spot is. I’ll be glad to demonstrate if you’d like?” Link’s grin was all white teeth and male satisfaction.
Nita wanted to be affronted, but in truth she was excited. She was a damn hussy.
“Ah, I think she likes what you said, Link. Which just saved you from an ass whoopin,” Tank said. The other male had his hands in tight fists at his sides, letting Nita know he wasn’t joking. The last thing she wanted was to come between the three best friends.
ABE SNORTED, LIFTING his middle finger on his right hand at Tank, ensuring his friend knew he wasn’t scared of him or his twin. In a fight, the three of them were evenly matched, mainly because they knew one another’s strengths and weaknesses. Now their Fated was the one thing that could be used as leverage against them. Not that he thought for one minute Nita was going to be a liability. In fact, he was pretty fucking sure she was going to give them all a run for their money when it came to fighting, protecting, and Goddess willing, fucking. The last he had been waiting a lifetime for, finding the one female who would complete him. He’d always known that he’d probably be sharing a mate with his twin brother, and then when Tank came along, the male fit right in with him and Link as if he was meant to be a part of their lives, like a brother.
Tank turned his head toward Abe, a small grin popped across his lips. “I love you too, bro.”
